Schemes for a jigsaw on plywood. What and how to cut from plywood with a jigsaw

Plywood is a very affordable, relatively inexpensive material for various crafts. Things made from it can have not only decorative value, but also be useful in our daily life, in everyday life.

Plywood is an easily processed building material, which is produced by gluing several layers of veneer, specially treated wood chips.

Introduction

These sheets, which can be used for making crafts and structures, may differ:

  • the number of veneer layers - three-layer, five-layer and multi-layer;
  • the type of wood from which the multilayer sheet is made (deciduous or coniferous);
  • according to the degree of processing (sanded on one or both sides, not sanded).

Building codes and standards

To find out more about the building material in question (about the classification of the entire plywood nomenclature, grade, standard sizes produced), which can be purchased for the manufacture of many products and crafts, it is recommended to familiarize yourself with the following documents:

  • GOST 3916.1-96 "General purpose plywood with outer layers of hardwood veneer".
  • GOST 3916.2-96 "General purpose plywood with outer layers of coniferous veneer".

Schemes, drawings and patterns for products from plywood sheets

Drawing programs for computers

Today, you can easily find a diagram, a pattern for a plywood structure, so that later using computer-aided design systems to prepare any drawing (including the above pattern of a cat). Then, using a plotter, print on a paper sheet of the required format.

Drawing popular programs are the easiest to learn and can be used in 2D and 3D modeling, including for plywood structures:

  • "KOMPAS" - a complex of automated systems, with the possibility of drawing up drawings, according to the standards of the ESKDi SPDS series;
  • AutoCAD is a two- and three-dimensional computer-aided design and drafting system.

So, if you cannot find a detailed drawing of the product you need from plywood material, then the application capabilities of the given software will help you make a full-fledged drawing according to any patterns and patterns posted on the Internet.

Kayak

The price of construction plywood from which the kayak is made is simply incommensurate with the pleasure that a person who made it with his own hands, who loves water trips on row boats, will receive.

A kayak by the Eskimos, this is the same kayak by the Aleuts - a traditional rowing boat of the peoples of the Arctic. Such a boat can be single, double or triple. Let's lay out the drawings of the kayak from plywood for one person.

The algorithm for building a rowing boat from plywood sheets is, in principle, general, with the exception of some nuances. The step-by-step procedure for cutting, processing and assembling the kayak can be seen in the video in this article.

Plywood table - simple and functional

Do-it-yourself clear drawings of a plywood table, which will be easy to implement even for a person, without special carpentry skills and experience. Table cover (1 sheet) - 1300 x 600 x 16 (mm) Inner wall (1 sheet) - 1170 x 400 x 16 (mm)

Plywood constructor

Various plywood constructor drawings are now gaining more and more popularity. Assembling such models from safe material is a very useful activity for children and adolescents. Such crafts will become good examples of collections, decorate the corner of modellers.

Tank

The stages of installation of the tank model are as follows:

  1. Plywood is sanded (first with medium-grained, and then with fine-grained sandpaper);
  2. Drawings are accurately transferred through a carbon copy onto sheet plywood material sanded with fine-grained abrasive.
  3. In the corners of the contour translation, through holes are drilled with a drill (drill 3 mm or more);
  4. Fasten the saw in a jigsaw and start cutting out the elements of the tank;

Note!
Cutting out the parts must begin inside the contours of the tank blanks, and only after that, along the office itself.

Advice!
When assembling the plywood assemblies of the model, keep various types of files on hand so that the elements fit together at any time.

  1. After adjusting all the parts, you can start gluing them (for example, with PVA glue, "Titan");

Advice!
To make the knots and elements of the tank more firmly and reliably grabbed with each other, you can tie them with thread or rope for some time after gluing them.

  1. A cannon can be made by cutting the wooden handle of a watercolor paint brush or other auxiliary material;
  2. If desired, the side number or other inscriptions and patterns can be applied to the tank, or to any other model;
  3. For greater safety and decoration of the model, they can be coated with varnishes and paints.

Retro car (old Mercedes)

Note!
When you transfer these drawings of a machine from plywood with your own hands to the plywood sheets themselves, do not forget to transfer the numbers as well.

When assembling the model itself, carefully look at the numbers.

In this case, the process is carried out according to the following algorithm, in accordance with the digital designations:

  • part or node number 1 must be connected to another number 1;
  • and the part under number 2 is attached accordingly with the next number 2, and so on, until the machine is assembled.

Pistol

Drawings of a bulldog model plywood pistol. When assembling, we follow the same rules as when assembling a machine: the same numbers must be mounted with each other.

Advice!
It is better to cover this pistol model from a spray paint bottle; layers of black paint can be applied to better resemble the original.

Dinosaur

Drawings of dinosaurs made of plywood, for example, presented below, can be executed in any scale you need when designing according to the pattern presented in the drawing program for a computer.

The preparation of the material, model elements and the assembly itself is not difficult, but you have to be patient when working with a jigsaw and fitting the model nodes to each other.

Plywood panel

It is the ease and simplicity of cutting with a jigsaw from plywood sheets of various configurations with different sizes, installation of various designs from them, that allows us to make a variety of decorative panels for the walls of our home. Any carefully executed panel is a great gift to family and friends.

Some helpful tips and warnings:

  • When transferring patterns, drawings to plywood, use the thinnest and sharpest pencil lead. It is even better to use a used ballpoint pen, then the lines will always be the same, and the copy paper will not tear from the ball. It is convenient to transfer drawings to plywood using a laser printer.
  • For better fixing of parts, it is recommended, where possible, to match the width of the grooves.
  • There are two types of files with large and small teeth. It is more convenient for beginners to learn how to use a thick file, and small parts are cut out with a thin one, already having some experience and skills in using a jigsaw.
  • The saws must be cut from top to bottom, so pay particular attention to the correct attachment of the saw to the jigsaw.
  • Saws can break easily, so cut carefully, do not let the parts hang on the saw blade.
  • When purchasing a file, make sure that the teeth are sharp, and it itself should not bend easily, but, on the contrary, should be firm. Convenient to work with are not flat, but the so-called "twisted files" - they can cut in any direction.
  • For those who have a hobby of cutting out structures from plywood sheets, there is no need to purchase a band saw, it is enough to purchase a jigsaw. Although everything is not for everybody, some craftsmen still often resort to hand-held jigsaw when “you need to feel the material”.

conclusions

  1. Before choosing, purchasing and directly working with the material from which you will cut models, panels, designers and structures, familiarize yourself with its types, classification according to building documents (GOST).
  2. For cutting, purchase quality tools, equipment and accessories for it.
  3. Choose quality plywood responsibly. Do not limit yourself to visual inspection, tap it for internal voids and delamination due to poor adhesion of veneer layers.
  4. Before you start working with a jigsaw, equip your workplace optimally. Pay special attention to good lighting so that the cut is clearly visible, the markings and the eyes do not get tired. It is not bad to use a stroboscope to illuminate the place of work with a jigsaw. Convenient and comfortable sawing!

Patterned plywood cutting is one of the most beautiful pieces of art that contains grace and lightness. At the same time, in order to translate your ideas into a finished product, you practically do not need to resort to any expensive equipment - in most cases it is enough to have a jigsaw and a desire to create. With the right approach, the acquisition of basic skills is not such a difficult procedure as it might seem at first glance.

The main role in the process of cutting out patterns from plywood is played by the ability to use a jigsaw, as well as the properties of the material used. Also, a lot depends on how successfully the drawings for cutting out of plywood will be copied - only through a correctly transferred sketch, you can turn an ordinary sheet of plywood into a real work of art.

Side sides - drawings for cutting with a jigsaw from plywood boxes

In this article, you will be provided with detailed instructions on how to learn how to cut basic shapes from plywood with your own hands. Having mastered cutting simple drawing lines, you will understand the basic principles of this process - in the future you will not have any difficulties with mastering the next steps of skill. It will also describe the most common ways to transfer drawings to workpieces.

Basic curly cutting skills

There is also an electrical modification of the jigsaw, which operates on a 220W network - its use is also permissible, which significantly speeds up the cutting process. However, the increased weight of the tool makes it difficult to cut smooth lines, which can be a serious disadvantage for the layman - if you learn the basics from scratch, then it is much more convenient to use a manual analogue.

Body posture

The most optimal position for cutting is sitting - cutting while standing is tiring. The workbench (work table) should be low enough so that you can sit with a straight back.

To reduce the load on the working arm, her elbow can be put on her knee - this way she will be less tired. Ideally, the workplace should be fully adapted to the above requirements.

Tool

To carry out curly cutting you will need:

  • Jigsaw complete with file - the main tool for cutting;
  • Awl or fine-tipped drill - to create initial holes;
  • Set of files, needle files and sandpaper - for processing edges;

Highlights

Before you seriously think about the question: what can you cut out of plywood with a jigsaw? - you should pay attention to the main features of this process, non-observance of which can lead to damage to the tool and uneven cuts.

  • The position of the jigsaw must be strictly vertical - the sawing motion must be up and down. Even a slight tilt of the jigsaw will make the cut oblique and the file will "lead";
  • The sawing movement should be carried out smoothly, without undue effort and pressure - this can damage the file and cause it to break;
  • When cutting out internal contours with an awl or drill, an initial hole is created into which the file is installed and only after that it is fixed. In the correct position, the teeth should point towards the bottom of the holder;

  • The saw must be well secured and taut - this is a prerequisite for normal use of the hand jigsaw. If the blade is not tight enough, the cut will have a wavy structure, which will make the work impossible;
  • Vibration of plywood during the cutting process is unacceptable - this will lead to chips and breakage of the blade. If the sheet is thin and small, it is necessary to use a wooden block with a cut, which is fixed on the workbench;
  • As the teeth of the blade cut through the wood, the plywood sheet should be moved towards the jigsaw. The jigsaw must be kept strictly upright throughout the entire cutting process.

Sawing out simple shapes

Smooth lines

No extra effort or pressure needed - continue cutting smoothly, returning the jigsaw to an upright position until the blade levels itself.

Sharp and obtuse angles

Obtuse corners - drawings for beginners for cutting with a jigsaw from plywood

To cut obtuse corners, you need to master the “turn in place” technique - after cutting to the corner, stop moving the plywood and start turning it, while continuing to cut, until you catch the required degree. Sharp corners can be cut in the same way, but in some cases this is not possible - in this case, the method described below is applied.

One of the sides of the corner is formed, then a small loop is cut along the outer contour of the line, through which an acute angle is formed, as in the figure below.

The inner corners are cut in this way:

  • A hole is made with an awl or drill - the sawing begins from it, which continues to the top of the corner.
  • Then the blade returns along the cut to its original position.
  • Then a small hole is cut out, in which the file unfolds to form the second side of the corner.
Jigsaw Plywood Drawings - Sharp Corners

Transferring a drawing

Almost all patterns are transferred to plywood from a paper sketch - in most cases this process is indispensable. The cheapest option is to use tracing paper - with its help, the drawing from the paper is transferred to the workpiece.

Its price is quite democratic, but the process itself is quite laborious, since each line has to be outlined with your own hands.

A less time-consuming way to transfer drawings for cutting with a jigsaw from plywood is to use a projector, through which the image will be projected onto the workpiece. This option is also suitable for those cases where the initial image size is not large enough and cannot be transferred without first enlarging.

Note!
This method, although it takes place in modern practice, is outdated.

One of the most modern options is the use of self-adhesive sheets of paper, on which the desired sketch is applied through the printer, after which they are glued to the workpiece.

The paper adheres quite tightly to the plywood, and its presence is practically not reflected in the cutting process. The only disadvantage of this method is its relatively high cost.

Our guide will help you master the basics of this skill, which will further allow you to move to a more professional level. In the video presented in this article, you will find additional information on this topic.

The basic skills that are taught in the lessons of labor discipline, for the bulk, remain a couple of trinkets for memory. But for some, from the basics of working with metal or wood, a favorite hobby begins, which in the future brings pleasure from the opportunity to show imagination, apply skill and get an everyday life or just a decorative product. One of such areas of folk art is cutting out of plywood, which is also popular among users of the FORUMHOUSE portal. We will dwell on it in more detail in our article, we will analyze from what, what and by what technology real carved masterpieces are created and in what cases stencils are used for cutting. Fortunately, our craftsmen are happy to share their experience.

Plywood characteristics

Plywood is a multi-layer, sheet building material made from veneer of hardwood or softwood, by gluing several layers into a single sheet. Due to the peculiarities of the arrangement of the fibers (at one angle), there is usually an odd number of layers in the sheet - three, five or more. If coniferous varieties are represented in plywood by several (fir, spruce, pine), then deciduous ones are mainly from birch. There is also a combination - a coniferous "filling" and a birch veneer, in this case the plywood will still be birch. The best is completely birch plywood, but it is also the most expensive.

The material is divided into grades and grades, depending on the decorativeness and chemicals used in the production. There are five grades, differing in the quality of the veneer and the appearance of the sheets:

  • Elite grade (E) - no defects on the surface of the material, a homogeneous, uniform, smooth texture without knots, cracks, wormholes or repair inserts.
  • First grade (I) - the presence of microcracks (up to 20 mm) and knots of small diameter on the sheets is possible.
  • Second grade (II) - even intergrown knots are permissible, if their number does not exceed ten pieces per 1 m² of sheet, and the diameter is not more than 25 mm. There may also be some wormholes and veneer repair inserts.
  • The third grade (III) - intergrown knots without quantitative restrictions, voids in the place of fallen knots, up to ten wormholes (up to 6 mm) per 1 m² of leaf.
  • Fourth grade (IV) - the sheet must have a strong adhesive bond, peeling is unacceptable. The whole range of appearance flaws - in almost any quantity, but the diameter of wormholes, knots and voids is no more than 40 mm.

The grade concerns only the outer layers of the leaf and is indicated by two numbers, and the grade can be either common for two sides or differ, more often, within one grade - I / I I / II E / I and so on. Except for the fourth, lower one, all other types of plywood are sanded on both sides, and the elite one can be additionally varnished.

Naturally, the higher the grade and decorativeness of the material, the more beautiful the finished product will be. But given that the cost of the elite, and even the first grade, is decent, and the parts to be cut are often small in size, you can use the lower grade if you really cut out a high-quality blank from the sheet. There should be no knots on the plywood from which the workpiece will be cut - they can fall out, and other defects. Pay attention to the edges - you cannot cut out masterpieces using fragments with voids in the middle layers.

The grade of plywood and its main characteristics are determined by the applied chemical compositions:

  • FB - impregnation of veneer with bakelite varnish, which gives resistance to high humidity.
  • BS - bakelite glue (alcohol-soluble), gives high performance, such plywood is stronger and more durable.
  • BV - water-soluble bakelite mixtures, plywood is afraid of high humidity.
  • FC - gluing with phenol-carbamide resin, relative water resistance, for indoor use.
  • FSF - gluing with phenol-formaldehyde resin, moisture resistant material for outdoor use.

Which plywood is suitable for cutting

For cutting out products intended for home use (boxes, stands, shelves, utensils, decorative elements), the best option is FC plywood.

Phenol-carbamide resin is safe for others and tolerates high humidity well, therefore products made from such plywood do not emit harmful substances and are resistant to deformation.

FSF plywood is not suitable for household items due to aggressive formaldehyde, but it can be used for outdoor decoration - carved platbands, coffee tables for open verandas or gazebos, various benches.

For cutting, plywood with a thickness of 3 - 5 mm is most often used. If loads are expected (chairs, stools, benches, tables, etc.), the thickness is increased. Cutting from a thick sheet (more than 10 mm) is more difficult, therefore, lace openwork from such material is unlikely to work. As an option - the main canvas made of thick sheets and carved inserts to increase decorativeness.

Portal member temernik, who opened the current theme back in 2011, uses sheets of different thicknesses, depending on the purpose of the items.

temernik FORUMHOUSE Participant

For my father's anniversary, I sawed out a carved 4 mm plywood frame, and 8 mm thick sheets were sent to the stand for a flower pot, on bears.

Tools, templates, assembly

Patterns on plywood are cut with jigsaws - it can be either a hand or an electric tool. For complex, openwork elements, a manual jigsaw with replaceable files is often used. They can carefully cut out the most intricate ornaments, while with a jigsaw there are more chances to ruin the drawing if skills are not enough.

Even in labor lessons, they teach that the quality of the saw and the convenience of work largely depend on the tension of the file - it is more difficult to cut exactly according to the template with a weakened headset.

Temernik uses an old son's jigsaw, left over from school. This simple tool is enough for him to create his own plywood openwork.

To start cutting the pattern, a puncture is made on the blank with a sharp awl, into which a nail file is then inserted, the second option is to drill with a drill with a thin drill. In both cases, it is not recommended to approach the hole directly to the contour line, if the motive allows. Puncture or drilling at a distance will help avoid possible cracks and gouges. To process the edge of the cuts (edges), files or sandpaper with the appropriate grain are used; this grinding gives the pattern a finished look and removes minor flaws, leveling the edge. In addition to basic tools, you may need pliers, a hammer, a drawing set (ruler, compasses) and others.

Even the simplest drawing is cut out according to the template applied to the plywood - in the presence of artistic talent, the patterns for cutting are drawn "from the head", if nature is not so generous, they are translated from the stencil.

There are enough standard blanks on the Internet in free access, in thematic publications. In the forum thread, many craftsmen share their favorite templates with each other. Temernik Internet and drawing talent of the wife helps.

temernik

I take the drawings from the Internet, then I come up with a method of attachment and refine it, if something goes wrong, then my other half draws, she does it well.

From the stencil, the drawing is transferred to the plywood with a pencil or pen, for convenience, the base is fixed on the sheet with buttons. Particular attention is paid to small contours, a few inaccuracies can ruin the whole look of the finished product.

To increase decorativeness, the products cut from plywood are connected to a thorn-groove and glued, most often with PVA glue for wood. First, dry "fitting" is carried out, and after fitting and stripping, it is already glue assembly.

temernik

Everything is fastened in the following way: grooves are cut in some parts, in others, on the contrary, protrusions, everything is adjusted first "dry", and then assembled on PVA glue. The ends were processed with sandpaper.

After assembly, the plywood is covered with protective and decorative compounds - varnishes, stains, paints, depending on the desired effect.

Examples of work of the portal members

Open temernik the topic found a lot of responses, many of them shared their creativity.

Boatswain 1955 started with a similar technique.

And now he combines it with no less interesting, multi-layer cutting.

Boatswain1955 Participant of FORUMHOUSE

I finally understood the essence of cutting out plates of various shapes - two drawings of the same size are made, the waves are drawn in opposition to each other. That is, where there is a ridge on the first, and a depression on the second. After cutting, the parts are assembled through one. This creates two plates. I sawed with a hand jigsaw without any fancy, for a long time I could not figure out how such forms are made. So he took a little soul away, sawed off a plate, and a basket.

56Vladimir1981also masterfully owns a jigsaw.

Artistic cutting with a jigsaw is one of the types of wood processing. For such creativity, it is necessary to have certain skills in working with the instrument, so for beginners this type may seem difficult. But despite this, woodcarving with a jigsaw (templates, photos are attached) is an extremely exciting activity. In addition to the usual tool, you can use an electric jigsaw or special tables for volumetric carving. This technique is usually used in workshops, and the result from working with it is really amazing, especially if there are high-quality sketches.

Varieties of thread

There are several types of woodcarving with a jigsaw, which templates, photos help to get to know better.

Flat-relief thread characterized by the fact that the pattern is on the same plane with the base.

Cutting thread- the ornament is cut out with a jigsaw or a twist saw. The decorative effect is achieved using an openwork mesh. This type of thread is like a continuation of the flat-relief thread.

It is the sawing thread that is most often done with a jigsaw. This type of wood carving is most often used when decorating furniture, facades at home. The most common pattern is an S-shaped curl with curled ends. Flora and fauna motifs are also common.

Slotted carving is usually done with a flat pattern. All of its elements are in contact with each other, smoothly flowing into one another. Large cuts of wood are made using this carving technique. An example can be seen in the pictures below.

Stages of work

To create threads with a jigsaw you will need the following materials and tools:

  • jigsaw;
  • set of files;
  • awl and chisel;
  • drill;
  • pliers;
  • base (wood);
  • pattern (drawings are created with its help);
  • stencils;
  • brush, varnish (if necessary, cover the product with a topcoat).

The thread technology itself implies the following steps:

Step 1. Choosing the base material (thin wooden boards will work well).

Step 2. Choosing an ornament. Transferring it to the base using carbon paper and a simple pencil.

Step 3. Making the starting holes with a drill.

Step 4. Carving process.

Step 5. Working out small details with an awl or knife.

Step 6. Finishing the product.

There are several thread options. Above has already been described flat and sawed threads.

Plane-relief threading with indication of the direction of movement of the tool:

Large paintings made with a jigsaw using the saw-carving technique look especially interesting.

Pargori technique

Another carving technique that deserves special attention is the pargori technique.

It is performed on a smooth background with the creation of the so-called overlaid thread.

The resulting chiaroscuro plays a special role. It is she who gives the products, cut in this technique, a particularly mysterious and interesting look.

Wood carving is used to decorate various accessories and household items. In this case, the patterns for cutting are distinguished by their special grace. Very often, caskets are decorated with woodcarving with a jigsaw.

Wood and sheets (plates) based on it is one of the cheapest and most pliable materials. For those who like to work with a jigsaw, plywood is primarily of interest.

It is her home craftsmen who most often choose for the manufacture of various crafts. If you organize the work correctly, you can create real masterpieces.

Crafts from this material are made for various purposes, but basically they can be divided into two groups - for decorating premises or territory (for example, fences from the inside, a garden area, and so on).

Variety of plywood

If you focus on the optimal combination of indicators such as quality and price, then FSF or FC products are selected. It is characterized by resistance to dampness and temperature fluctuations. This alone is enough to ensure the durability of a hand-made craft. But there is a fundamental difference between these types of plywood - in the component composition of the glue that holds the veneer layers together.

In the first case, it is toxic, so FSF sheets are used only for outdoor work. But for crafts intended for placement in the house, FC plywood is quite suitable. Its counterparts are much more expensive, and therefore are not considered as material for simple, easy-to-make crafts.

Type of sheet grinding

It's easy to figure it out: Ш1 and Ш2 - respectively, one- and two-sided; NSh - coarse plywood. That is, the craft still has to be "brought to mind", polished. The choice according to this parameter depends on how it is planned to be arranged and placed in the future. A specimen fixed on the wall and, for example, a statuette (stand, vase, toy, or other) that is viewed from all sides are different things.

Plywood texture

Much depends on personal preference. If you plan to preserve the natural appearance of the tree when applying the protective coating of the craft, then it is better to purchase birch veneer plywood under the varnish. But for the subsequent painting, it is advisable to choose pine.

For various plywood crafts, it is advisable to focus on an oil or acrylic base. The explanation is simple - they are less susceptible to fading in the sun, therefore, you will not have to frequently update the outer coating; it will not change its original appearance for several years.

Plywood grade

When choosing a sheet for crafts, you must first of all inspect it for knotty and inclusions. Significant defects will not only complicate the cutting of the material, but also initiate the appearance of cracks or "holes" (as a result of falling out of the same knots). Next - inspection of the end surfaces. During the cutting process, plywood is subjected to dynamic loads (vibration). If at least signs of veneer peeling are noticeable on the side parts, such material should not be purchased, even if its price is too tempting.

In the future, in the process of making crafts, many problems will arise. As a result, the rejection of plywood and its increased consumption. In aggregate terms, this in terms of money will come out about the same in comparison with the acquisition of high-grade material, and in terms of time spent and quality of work - a big minus.

Thickness of sheets

If the crafts are cut with an e-tool, then it is limited to 30 mm. For a hand jigsaw, it is advisable to use relatively thin plywood; maximum three-layer. That is, no more than 9 mm thick.

What you need to work

Jigsaw

This is a priori, since we are talking about making crafts using such a tool. The question is, which one is the best to work with. Electric models are much more expensive than manual counterparts, but they have many advantages. About V.

For example, high speed and accuracy of cutting, clean edges, the ability to change the cutting parameters and a number of others. If a plywood craft is not a one-time, short-term hobby, then it is worth spending money on an electric / jigsaw. It is versatile, and it will come in handy on the farm more than once, since depending on the type of file it can “work” not only with wood, but also with non-ferrous metals, plastics, and plexiglass.

It is somewhat more difficult with a manual jigsaw. Its design is quite simple - a frame with screw clamps and a handle + file.

The nuance is that the cutting blades break quite easily (from excessive pressure, changing the position of the hand tool), and therefore it is advisable to purchase them with a margin; fortunately, they are cheap.

Hacksaw

It is needed only at one stage - when cutting the dimensional sheet into separate fragments. Doing this with a hand jigsaw is an unpromising and unprofitable occupation; time and files will be spent a lot.

Stand

No one will cut plywood by weight; This is clear. Cut out the details by laying the sheet on the tabletop - there is a risk of damaging it. It is in order to ensure the "safety" of the latter that the stand is needed. You can make it with your own hands from trimming the board. How such a device looks like (one of the options) can be seen in the figure.

The fixation of the stand on the base is made with clamps (on a non-working table) or self-tapping screws (in case there is a carpenter's workbench in the annex, shed, garage). Although these are not the only mounting options. How to proceed is not difficult to understand, taking into account local conditions.

Skin

The ideal tool for fine woodworking -. But for plywood crafts that do not differ in large areas, it is not suitable. Therefore, only sandpaper; medium fraction - for primary grinding of workpieces and with fine grain - for finishing.

Additionally

  • Files and files.
  • Awl.
  • Simple pencil and carbon paper.
  • Glue, if the craft is created as a composite or multi-level, that is, with the fixation of two or more figured fragments in separate areas.
  • Varnishes, paints, stains.

Examples of drawings and sketches of plywood crafts

Copying "one to one" in this case is hardly advisable. Any work done with your own hands is a process with a creative component. That is why the sizes should be determined independently, depending on where it is supposed to place (or how to use) the craft. For example, will it "look" in a specific place, will it organically fit into the interior of the room.

Even if you like the drawing, it is not difficult to change the geometry of the figure by applying the scaling rules. Moreover, when it comes to drawing a contour on plywood with a simple pencil; correct any mistake; it is quite easy to correct something in some areas. It is not much more difficult to modify any sketch, adding something of your own, original to the sample.

There is another solution - you can download any picture you like from the Internet. Printing it at the right scale is not a problem. It remains only to transfer it to plywood using carbon paper and shade the areas that need to be cut. This is when it comes to curly crafts. It's even easier with an outline pattern; cut exactly along the line - and that's it, you're done. It remains only to do the decoration of the product.

Basic rules for cutting with a jigsaw

  • Laying under a rigid backing sheet. It is in order to ensure the hardness of the surface under the plywood that the stand is used. A sheet, even a small one, bends quite easily (under pressure), therefore, without this device, a high-quality cut, strictly along the line, will not work.
  • The working body of the jigsaw (saw) must be strictly perpendicular to the end of the sheet. Moreover, constantly, throughout the entire process of cutting the material.
  • The tool is fed along the line in a translational motion, but without effort. Otherwise, the file will break immediately. As well as when it deviates from the "vertical".
  • Cutting holes "deaf", that is, somewhere along a sheet of plywood, with an indent from its edge, is done as follows. At any point of the outlined contour, a "hole" is drilled with a slight offset to the center of the fragment. The diameter is chosen so that the file can easily enter it. Once attached to the tool frame, you can cut in any convenient direction.
  • A curly cut in plywood suggests sharp turns, smooth bends, and so on. First, at the point of changing direction with a jigsaw, without changing its position, it is necessary to make a small hole in the material.
