Standard password

This method is suitable for situations in which the user set up the router himself, without changing the password for administrator access. This is the easiest option, but not suitable in all situations.

If the password has not been changed, then it is the original one from the router. It's not scary to forget it, but you can see it in the instructions from the device. It will be located in the section with the router. If the instructions are lost, then the standard password can be easily found on the Internet. But for this you need to know the manufacturer of the router.

It is usually indicated on the front or top. You can also see it on the router access page, where it is highlighted in color or in bold. The most popular manufacturers are D-Link, TP-LINK, ZyXEL and Asus. However, there are others.

After finding the manufacturer, you can search for the password. In any search engine, enter the query "standard password from the router", and at the end insert the name. Full factory reset

If other methods did not work or it is impossible to do them, then a complete reset of the Wi-Fi router settings will help. It is important to note that this is an extreme option, but very simple. You can resort to it only if there is a printout with the Internet access settings, since they will be reset too. Otherwise, you will have to call a specialist to restore them himself.

Also, the settings can be viewed from the user account, usually he is registered without a password. Instructions for opening the login page are described in the section above. Now you can log in as a user, to do this, select the appropriate login from the list or write User in the login line, leave the password field blank.

Now you need to find the Internet connection settings. For a D-Link Wi-Fi router, their section is shown in a pink frame in the picture. All data from IP to MAC address must be recorded. They will be needed to restore access to the Internet from the router.

Now you can proceed to factory reset. There is a special hole on the back of the router. It is indicated by the words Reset or Reset. All devices connected to the router via Wi-Fi will lose signal. If the configuration is done not via a cable, but via a network, then you need to reconnect to the point. Its name will change, so it will be determined by the quality of the signal (it should be maximum or close to this) and by the absence of a password. Now you need to re-enter the router page. Now select the administrator as a user or enter the login admin. For D-Link models, the initial administrator password is blank. For TP-LINK - admin.
