Interesting tables. Coffee table

The coffee table is rightfully the most versatile and necessary element of the interior. Not a single guest room can do without it.

Often these tables are found in bedrooms, where it is used instead of bedside tables. Also, a modern coffee table is installed even on the balcony, where it acts as a computer table, if, of course, the balcony is insulated.

With such a simple piece of furniture, any room can be made cozy.

In this article we will talk about what coffee tables are and what they are made of, there will also be a photo of a coffee table of each type.

Made of wood

Perhaps this is the most common option, it looks organically in absolutely any interior, except for high-tech.

You just need to choose the right shade, which looks harmonious with the rest of the furniture installed in the room.

It will not be superfluous if the design of the coffee table is made in the same style as the rest of the furniture.

From glass

If you want to decorate the room in a more modern style, you will need a glass coffee table.

This design looks airy and weightless, largely due to the transparency of the material.

However, this does not necessarily mean that the table legs will be made of glass, there may be a very different material, it all depends purely on your imagination.

Made of metal

The material is not the easiest to process, so it is not surprising that these tables are the most expensive.

In addition, they weigh a lot, so it's not so easy to move them. However, they are very durable and not afraid of mechanical damage.

Coffee table in the interior: style varieties

Before starting the renovation, carefully study the catalogs of interior design, and if there is a coffee table there, then by different styles it can be understood that such a simple item may differ not only in material, but also in design, purpose and decor elements.

Classical

For the classic style, the most ordinary small table, made of glass or wood, is optimal, it is also called coffee.

If you chose the first option, then you can decorate the legs or find an option with an unusual design.

The main thing is that they fit the rest of the decoration. If you chose wood, then look at the tone of the wood, it will look ridiculous if the table stands out from the rest of the furniture.

Provence

The key feature of this style is delicate, bedding colors of furniture, as well as naturalness, however, artificially aged things are often used.

For example, for a voluminous living room, it is better to choose a massive artificially aged coffee table, and in a small room a model with several tiers is better suited.

Country

Most of the premises of the ethnic style (yes, country music is also ethno) surprise people with unusual ideas, and besides this, the unconventional use of even the most familiar things.

For example, it can be both bamboo furniture and handmade mosaic made of river shells.

Therefore, a country-style coffee table should be made in an unusual style, for example, from rough wood or simply from raw logs.

Modern

Perhaps this is the very style where the designer's fantasies have a place to roam. Therefore, the material for the table can be even the most non-trivial, for example, stone or PVC (plastic).

The trick here is in the simplicity of lines and shapes. A drop of creativity and you will have a table that is guaranteed to catch the eyes of your guests.

Pop Art

The key task of style is to transform a familiar thing into something unusual.

Therefore, these "works of modern art" help to turn the ordinary banal coffee table into a key element of the room decor.

Therefore, do not be surprised, you can see anything.

We use the coffee table for its intended purpose

Do not forget about the direct purpose of the table, because its name already indicates that it is necessary for storing books, magazines and other household items (chargers, remotes, telephones, etc.).

Therefore, it is not surprising that many modern models are equipped with lockers and drawers.

Moreover, they are not always installed inside the table, they are both in plain sight and hidden, which only the owner knows about.

From glass

Decorating their home in a modern style, people began to pay more attention to the models of coffee tables made of glass. They look quite "airy" due to their transparency. Nevertheless, as a support for such tables, the most unusual materials can be picked up - driftwood, deer antlers, corals and others.

Made of metal

Metal is difficult to process, which is why models of such coffee tables are expensive. They are also heavy in weight, which makes them much more difficult to move around the room. But they are durable, they are not afraid of any damage.

Choosing a coffee table depending on the general style of the room

Look at the examples of interior design, including the presence of a coffee table, in the catalog - you see how diverse they can be (in shape, materials, decor elements and purpose):

When choosing a coffee table for the living room, think carefully about what "duties" you assign to it.

Classical

The most ordinary small coffee table made of wood will best fit into the classic interior. The only exception can be the bright decor of the base and table legs, matched to all other pieces of furniture and finishes. It is very important in such situations to take into account a careful selection of wood tones so that the furniture looks like a single set.

Provence

A feature of the Provencal style is considered to be pastel shades of furniture, including naturalness (unpainted wood), carved legs at tables and semi-antique design (artificial aging) are no less popular. For example, massive coffee tables will fit better in a large living room. But for a small room, small models are ideal. If you prefer French style, then these tables are for you:

Country

Most ethnic styles (by the way, which include country) amaze with original ideas and unusual use of the most ordinary materials. Some surprise with bamboo models, others - with multi-colored intricate mosaics lined with small shells. Country music is capable of accepting a table made of roughly hewn wood or logs into its interior. Also, in appearance, models of this style are represented by the roughness of the surface of unpolished wood. See for yourself:

Modern

Where there is truly no end to design imagination, it is in a modern style. Fortunately, materials for the manufacture of such coffee tables can be found everywhere - wood, stone, glass, metal, plastic. The most important thing is to observe the brevity of shapes and lines. A little creative approach and a unique coffee table will appear in your interior.

Pop Art

The main task of the pop art style is to transform ordinary things into something from the realm of fantasy. By creating such "works of art" this style allows you to transform the gray everyday life with bright decorative elements. Coffee tables were no exception here. Designers do not spare inspiration, I improve existing simple things.

Loft

The presence of rough metal parts and roughly processed wood, as well as the creation of a kind of "street furniture" - this is all the loft style. It is original and brutal. At the same time, everyone, without exception, likes it. If you see a coffee table that resembles a cart, know this is also a loft. Many ideas came to the minds of designers when they visited “specific” places - half-abandoned old factories and manufactories, where they got their inspiration.

Coffee table-transformer

Choosing a coffee table for, think clearly - what "duties" you assign to it. If you need a decorative element of the interior, then take a look at the tables of an unusual shape, which are often offered by various designers. However, if you want to get not only a coffee table, but also a dining or computer table in "one person", then you should turn your gaze to folding models -. With some effort, in just one minute, you can transform your nondescript coffee table into a fully fledged dining area for several people. Isn't that what you dreamed about ?! It's great if such a model is on wheels - this will facilitate the movement of the table around the room.

DIY transforming table:

Coffee table as an element of the storage system

Its very name - "magazine" means that this table is intended for storing magazines, as well as books, newspapers and other trifles (remote controls, phone chargers and the like). In order not to clutter up its surface in most models, shelves or drawers are provided, which create additional space for storing the necessary things. Such elements of the storage system will not necessarily be located outside - in plain sight, they can also be built-in (hidden, secret), which only you will know about. Here are just a few models with original ideas:

Materials and tools:Working process:

Prefabricated parts made of fiberboard or wood.

2 castors.

Special glue for wood.

Drill and drills for her.

Electric screwdriver, screwdrivers.

Electric jigsaw, hacksaw for wood.

Screws and dowels.

Roulette and level.

Sandpaper or sander.

Wooden hammer.

We cut out the details according to the drawing.

We make holes for dowels in a rectangular partition and in the center of the base of the tabletop, at an approximate distance of 10 cm.

Now, at a height of 36 and 48 cm, on the partition itself, we make 2 holes for the subsequent fixing of 2 semicircular shelves on it.

Dowels can be installed. We assemble the table, after making sure that the overall structure is even. Disassemble it again and make several holes in rectangular blanks (36, 48, 23 cm).

We proceed to the final assembly. To do this, we consistently assemble - the base, the central and lower partition, semicircular shelves, the upper partition and the countertop itself.

We assemble with a wooden hammer and dowels set on glue.

We finish the assembly process by attaching the wheels to the screws (with the subsequent movement of the table, they should not touch the base). That's it - the table is ready!
