Each designer has at least once encountered uncomfortable typical layouts, one of the most common is an elongated small room in Khrushchev. They are also called "wagons". Usually in this room is placed a bedroom or a nursery. I will talk about one of these rooms today.

The design of a narrow bedroom is always a headache, especially if the room is less than two and a half meters wide. In this project, it was necessary to arrange a full-fledged sleeping place and solve the problem of storing books. I also wanted to keep a free passage to the window, because. from it a wonderful view of the pond (perhaps the main advantage of this bedroom). The consultation was provided remotely, the client does not live in Izhevsk.

Nikolay, that is the name of the owner of the bedroom, did not send any photos of the interiors he liked. He simply described in the application form that he likes light beige interiors, maybe a little brighter, but not dark, would not like to see yellow and does not like the classics, prefers something more modern. The budget for everything about everything is 60,000 rubles.

And here is the bedroom itself for which I had to think of a transformation plan:

First you had to decide where to put the bed? As mentioned above, this layout is truly a headache when placing a bed.

There are three bed options:

Just across the room;
Across the room by the window;
Along the wall.

Consider our options:

If you take a standard bed 2 meters long and put it across the room, then with a width of 2.45 there is only 45 centimeters of passage from the wall. Agree, not thick. But the bed is not 2 meters long, it is only the length of the mattress, the bed together with the base is usually 8-15 cm longer, i.e. we get a passage from the wall less than 40 cm, this is no good at all, not an elf will walk around the room, but an adult man.

The option of placing a bed across the room by the window has disappeared, because it is necessary to leave free passage to the window, and the air conditioner to the right of the window did not speak in favor of this option. I wanted a full-fledged, normal bed, 140 cm wide. And, which is quite rare in our times, it is not planned to place a TV in the bedroom.

Put the bed against the wall? Not the best option, of course, but at least it’s convenient to approach the bed, the passage between the bed and the wall is about a meter and it’s comfortable to walk around the room, there is free access to the window. A low rack will be placed near the headboard, books will be stored in it and the upper horizontal surface can be used as a bedside table.

The next step is choosing a style. As inspiration, I took Scandinavian and contemporary interiors. They are perfect for decorating the men's bedroom.

Nikolai agreed, approving the photos proposed as interior samples from the first time. We decided on the style, then the most interesting thing was to pick up furniture and everything else. In order to fit into the budget, and I remind you of 60,000 rubles, we conducted an audit of what is already there and what can be used in the new interior.

The total amount of recommended furniture, textiles and decor items for Nikolai was 40,030 rubles. This option is very convenient, because the TV located at the other end of the wall will just have to be in the sleeping area, where it is most convenient to view the screen.

The bed in our room is presented in the form of a sofa, transforming into a convenient and comfortable bed. Surely, many will not always want to fold and push the sofa several times a day, therefore, even when unfolded, it will not interfere with movement, and everything will be as convenient for the owners of the room.

Naturally, we will not leave the bedroom wall bare, which has a sofa. By creating small shelves similar to those that hold the TV, we can place books, decorative items and much more there. Two lamps at the head of the sofa can be a great addition and lighting in the evening.

It is also worth saying a few words about the color scheme, it is best, of course, to use light colors, which, although visually, will help to enlarge and make the room light.

Wardrobe - compartment, equipped with mirrored doors to increase the width of the room and make it more proportional.

The biggest problem of a small space is the placement of all the necessary furniture. you have to refuse something altogether or buy, for example, a wardrobe that is less spacious than required. On a wide bed, too, sometimes you have to forget.

It remains to be content with a folding sofa, which only becomes a bed at night, and folds during the day. The most acceptable option in this case is a corner sofa. It is quite wide when disassembled and has a roomy drawer for linen.

There is one nuance. Doctors do not recommend constantly sleeping on the couch, as this can cause back pain. After all, sofas do not have an orthopedic mattress, or they do, if it is an expensive model. There is a way out: purchase an orthopedic mattress separately.

There are various modifications, even fairly thin and flexible mattresses that can be rolled up and put away in a closet when the sofa is folded for the day.

In addition to a bed or a sofa and a wardrobe in a 3×3 bedroom, perhaps a bedside table or a desk will fit. The latter is necessary if the bedroom will simultaneously serve as an office, and this is possible in our apartments. But about the dressing table, if the bedroom is for a woman or a couple, you will have to forget.

As for the closet, the corner compartment will “eat” less space than with a swing door. Light-colored furniture plus a wardrobe with a mirrored door can visually enlarge the space.
