Do-it-yourself kite - types and principle of operation, how to make from paper, fabric or polyethylene. Best Kite Designs How to Tie a String to a Kite Correctly

I have always been fascinated by the kites flying in the sky! Any flow of air can change its flight and it seems that now it will break free.

Every summer my boy asks us to buy a bird or a fish.)) And this year we will make a kite ourselves. We stock up on knowledge and forward to practical exercises at the dacha or in the park!))

I have collected information from various sources and am happy to share it with you.

What we need:

2 simple, wooden sticks (preferably bamboo, if not, light slats);

- nylon thread (fishing line, 2 mm in diameter);

Scotch tape, superglue, spray glue;

A large sheet of thin paper (or cellophane);

Hacksaw, scissors, marker and paints.

What we need to do:

1. Cut the slats to the desired length. Make a mark on each rail. At the end of the rail we make cuts of a few millimeters for deepening. They serve to pull a nylon thread through them.

2. Indicate the exact center of each of the planks and tie them to you with fishing line, you get the shape of a cross (angle 90 degrees). The horizontal rail should be approximately 2/3 of the vertical height. Remember that an exact 90 degree angle must be maintained or balance will not be maintained.

3. Pull a nylon thread around the frame, falling into the cut made. The tension should be light (too much tension can bend the frame). The kite frame design is ready.

We fix it on top with tape so that the nylon thread (fishing line) does not jump out of the cut.

4. Then, put the frame of the kite on our paper. Draw a contour with a red felt-tip pen, at a distance of about 3 cm (1.5 cm) along the line of the cord. Cut out a sketch from paper along the red lines.

5.1. Apply a few drops of glue to the ends of the slats (highlighted by a rectangle) This glue will help keep the paper on the slats in the correct position. We are waiting for it to dry.
We bend the borders of the edge of the paper (3 cm) and glue it with adhesive tape, but it is better to use glue - spray because of its lightness.

BUT! From this point on, different sources fix it in different ways. Below I will give other master classes, you can see.

5.2. We wrap the edges of the film inward around the fishing line and secure them with tape. The snake's "body" is ready.

5.3.

6.1. Cut a piece of cord 30 cm long. At the intersection of the rail, make small holes in the paper and thread the nylon thread. Fasten it securely, you can secure the knot with tape. The cord should hang freely.

O cut a very long piece of line. It will be needed to release the kite. Tie one end of it to a 30 cm cord, wind the other on a spool.
Everything is ready! Now you can paint the paper in variegated colors (to your liking) and run in good weather

6.2. I have seen models in which the line of the snake is tied directly to the cross, but the bridle allows the snake to hold the correct angle of attack in relation to the wind. Therefore, it is better not to be too lazy and do it.

To do this, on the edges of the short stick at points A and D (see drawing) we tie two pieces of AO and GO fishing line with a length equal to the side AB (for us it is 25 cm) - these will be the lateral parts of the bridle.
Remember to add an allowance for tying. For reliability, we coated all the knots with superglue, because it is difficult to make a strong knot on the fishing line.
And we tie the long side of the bridle to the upper end of B (see drawing). How the kite will fly depends on its length. Therefore, it is better not to firmly fix the place of attachment to the main line, but experiment with the angle of inclination. In our case, it turned out that, oddly enough, the kite flew best at VO = 0. Those. it was possible to do without a bridle, and tie the fishing line to the upper corner of the snake. I think this parameter is very dependent on the specific launch conditions and on the specific kite.

After that, we tie all three ends of the bridle together at point O and tie the rail there. We additionally secured this place with tape.

7. Now we make a snake's tail. It is needed not so much for beauty. how much for correct balancing. It is by adjusting the length and weight of the tail (by tying or detaching pieces from it) that you can improve the flying qualities of the kite.

A snake's tail can be made from rope, ribbons and bows, but we only had plastic bags at hand. Therefore, the tail of our kite is made of them. For this, the bags were cut into pieces. 10 cm wide.

After that, the strips of polyethylene were tied together to form a rope about 3 meters long. We attach the tail to the lower end of the snake (at point D) with tape.

A few more options:

A very easy way to make a kite:

Where and how to fly a kite?

You need to fly a kite in large open areas.... If possible, it is better to launch it on a hill or hill in order to use the updrafts.

IMPORTANT:

Never fly kites near power lines, wires, etc.

Never run near highways or airports.

Never fly a snake during a thunderstorm.

All this is life-threatening!

If the wind is strong enough.

The kite can be easily launched straight from the hands. Standing with your back to the wind. Aiming the kite with its nose up, initially holding on to the rail at the kite itself. Slightly pulling the thread towards you, lift the kite upward, gradually unwinding the rope.

You can launch a snake together.

Your helper is holding the snake upright with its nose up. You rewind the rope for 20 meters and step back. Having given the command to the assistant to release the kite, while slightly throwing it up. Watch your kite take off quickly while watching the thread tension - more on that below.

If the wind is not strong enough:

Standing with our back to the wind, we put the kite on the ground perpendicular to the direction of the wind, i.e. face towards us. Gradually untwisting the rope, we move away, holding the kite in this position.

When you step back about ten meters, pulling sharply, run a little until the kite gains the required height, feeling how the kite caught the wind and rushes upward, where it can easily soar. Provided that the wind is strong enough at the top for maneuvers. Otherwise, you will have to run like that to keep the kite in the air.

We launch together.

The only difference is that the serpent is in the hands of the helper. This option is more suitable for starting with a child. You will be acting as a helper. Your task is to raise the kite as high as possible while keeping it perpendicular to the direction of the wind, straight upwards. Having reeled off a couple of meters of rope, ask the kid to take a run. You will also have to throw it up slightly during the release (for babies from 2 years old).

Older children need to be explained how to proceed, after your kite has caught the wind, you will feel resistance, you can stop and start adjusting the flight. To reach the maximum height, if at the same height where it soars without any of your efforts, it is enough just to rewind the rope to the desired distance.

How to fly a kite.

- The wind has died down- the kite began to fall - pull the rope over yourself by lowering your hand down or taking a couple of steps back. Make sure that the thread is always taut.

- The wind has intensified- unwind the rope or weaken the tension by raising your hand or taking a couple of steps towards the kite.

Your task is to periodically tighten at moments of fall and loosen the thread tension during a rapid upward dash.

- If the flight of the kite is not stable then it soars, then it plummets downward, you should understand the dynamics of the movement. The kite flies where the kite's nose is directed... Therefore, pulling the thread can both raise the snake and accelerate the fall. Watch the direction of your nose. At the moment of a rapid fall, slightly release the rope and allow the kite to straighten itself under the influence of the wind. As soon as the nose turns up, pull the rope under the pressure of the wind, it will quickly gain altitude.

Another tip, if a fall is inevitable and you cannot correct the situation, then loosen the ropes thereby not provoking an increase in the blow.

I wish you a fair wind for your kite!)))

Both children and adults are delighted with this fun - flying a flying kite. They are triangular, diamond-shaped, box-shaped, in the form of birds or dragons. They even come in the form of a butterfly flapping its wings.

The history of the flying serpent begins in ancient China. There he received the name "dragon kite" due to the fact that on the holiday of the Dragon, huge structures of paper bodies with a snake head at the end were launched into the air. This tradition is still alive today. From China, dragons became widely known in Asia. Later, in Europe, they learned how to make a kite out of paper.

This simplest aircraft in its long history has served both science and as a military tool, and helped in the development of aircraft. Now it has become a well-known toy, popular with both adults and children.

Of course in the modern world you can always buy a ready-made snake in the store... But if you know how to make a flying kite with your own hands, you can not only enjoy the creative process, but also get a unique toy. Made with your own hands, it will be more joy than the one that you bought. The manufacturing process is very interesting, exciting and also uncomplicated. And the manufacturing costs are required to be minimal.

How to make a flying dragon with your own hands

To create an air dragon at home, you need to have basic concepts about the main elements of its design:

At home, you can make the following types of flying dragons: flat air and box (volumetric).

Materials for making a favorite toy can be different, for example, paper, fabric, polyethylene. For some models need wooden slats... For the tail, you will also need ribbons or threads with bows or tassels: it all depends on your imagination.

Serpent "Monk"

How to make a flying kite out of paper? Try the simplest and most classic version for a start - the paper Monk. Even small children will be happy to take part in its production. To make this origami, you will need:

  • a square made of a sheet of thick paper (not newspaper);
  • bobbin thread for bridle;
  • narrow strips of brightly colored fabric or tape for the tail;
  • scissors;
  • glue;
  • a needle for making holes.

It is advisable to choose sheets no larger than A3. Larger sizes require heavier paper weight, which leads to an increase in the weight of the model... As a result, a large device can be so heavy that it cannot take off.

Its manufacturing scheme is simple:

Despite the simplicity of manufacture, the Monk will fly well. It should be started on bobbin threads, in a small breeze, because a strong wind can easily crush it. If it starts spinning from side to side when starting up, the tail may need to be adjusted. You need to either lengthen it or make it heavier. In the case when the Monk takes off with difficulty and gains altitude very badly, the tail, on the contrary, should be made lighter. With the correct tail adjustment, the kite should fly steadily, wagging slightly in different directions.

Wireframe snakes made of paper, fabric, polyethylene

Another type of flat flying structure is the wireframe kite. To build it, besides paper, cloth or polyethylene, you also need wooden rake and. One of the schemes for its manufacture is used in the presence of the following materials:

  • sheets of paper or a bag;
  • two wooden slats (one is shorter, equal to about 2/3 of the length of the first);
  • strong thread;
  • fabric (any);
  • Scotch;
  • glue.

To create a frame, you need to connect the slats in the shape of a cross. You can fasten them with twine, pre-moistened with PVA glue. Then you need to cut, focusing on the frame, the sail of the dragon itself. For this model, it will turn out to be diamond-shaped. The ends of the sail must be tied tightly to the ends of the rods; you can even use tape for strength. In the middle of both segments of the smaller strip, you need to tie the ropes and fasten them in the middle cross bar... It will look like a pyramid made of ropes, which needs to be fixed to the handrail. It remains to secure the tail at the bottom of the product. For good flight, the tail should be significantly longer than the body.

Frame devices are the most popular and are easy to build at home. They can be in any other shape: the popular triangle, star, or bird. The form is limited only by imagination and materials.

Dragon in the shape of a triangle

The classic triangular shape is a more complex type of flat structures to manufacture.

You will need a thick plastic bag for her., slats, rope with a reel. The dimensions of the finished product depend on the size of the package and the height of the launcher. The scheme for making a triangular kite is as follows:

To get the resemblance to a bird, one feature is used: a bowstring is pulled between the side parts.

Box kites at home

Another type of flying kite that you can make yourself is the box-shaped, or volumetric, flying kite. To make it you will need:

  • wooden sticks - 8 pieces;
  • sheets of thick paper;
  • strong rope;
  • ruler;
  • scissors;
  • glue.

For making a box device in the home, instead of strong paper, strong plastic bags, such as garbage bags, are often used.

The frame is assembled from 4 vertical slats 80 cm long and 4 horizontal slats (spacers): two 75 cm long and two 50 cm long.Use glue to make two strips from thick paper sheets, each 186 cm long and 24 cm long in width, plus 1 cm on all sides for allowances. Each strip must be divided into 4 equal parts.

At the folds in the allowances, corners are cut out and strong threads are inserted into the folds of all allowances along the entire length so that they come out into the cut corners from both sides by about 7 cm.Then the allowances and strips are connected with glue. The narrow edges of each strip are connected with lateral allowances - two boxes are obtained, but without a bottom. Long slats are put inside the boxes at the corners and fixed with the ends of threads glued into the strips. The boxes should be at the edges of the long wooden battens.

Then spacers are placed crosswise so that they rest against long slats. In places where the spacers cross, this connection must be secured with a thread. The kite boxes stretched with spacers will look like a rhombus. The bridle is made of a thin rope 1.3 m long. One end of the bridle is connected to one of the long rods above the upper box, and the other is attached to the rod above the lower box on the same side. A handrail is attached to the bridle - and you can do a test run. A tail is not required for such a snake.

The box kite only flies properly in fairly strong winds. Its improved version is a triangular box kite with an additional wing. This type of kite is more complex in design, but it has better aerodynamics, and it takes off in a light wind without a run.

How to fly kites

It is very important to fly the kite correctly. The wind should blow at a speed of 4-6 m / s. The preferred starting location is in the field and, if possible, upland, away from roads and wires. It is dangerous if the rope of the launched kite comes into contact with the wires or hangs from them. Especially if these are high voltage electrical wires. It is also important to consider the strength of the wind and the strength of the handrail. If there is a strong gusty wind outside, the rope may break and the flying kite will be carried over the wires by the wind.

There are many ways to launch a flying toy. If there is only one person, then the kite is placed with its front side against the wind. The launcher should gradually move backward, unwinding the rope and holding the structure upright. Having moved away a little, about 10 meters, you need to pull the rope towards you and carefully run. If there is wind, the kite immediately rises up.

It is much more convenient and easier to launch with two people. So, one remains with the snake, holding it above his head. The person who has the rope in his hands should stand with his back to the wind and unwind about 15 meters of the rope, then pull it. The sign to launch the kite is to raise your hand up.

When the kite reaches a sufficient height, you must carefully release (poison) the line. If a gust of wind occurs, the rope must be released a little, this is necessary to relieve the pressure of the air currents on the body of the structure. When the wind subsides, the volatile device must be immediately pulled towards you.

It is better to launch a box kite in the same way - upwind and preferably more than one. The headwind will carry him forward, but at the same time there will be a lift and he will be kept in the air at an angle. If the bridle is made straight, from threads of equal length, then the kite has no angle of inclination and will not rise up even in strong winds.

On a calm day, you can try to make the kite fly by running forward with it. In this case, it is not the wind, but the movement that creates the oncoming air flow, which is needed for the flight. Above, the box kite flies by itself, even if the person does not move, because above the air currents are stronger than below at the ground.

If you want to spend time interestingly, find an exciting activity for the whole family, then making an air dragon is perfect for these purposes. It is not difficult to make it yourself, and its launch will not leave anyone indifferent.

Attention, only TODAY!

A kite is the very first flying device that a person was able to lift into the sky and give it movement with the help of gusts of wind. Kites are native to China - a country where every holiday was accompanied and still is accompanied by colorful images of dragons.

Kites did not always play the role of a toy or a beautiful festive attribute, for example, at the beginning of the 20th century, with the help of such devices, cameras were raised (for shooting from the air), radio antennas, etc. Kites can be of various types and designs: box, "monks" and flat.

Rules for making kites

First, there must be a center of gravity on the body of the kite. It is better if it will be located on a line that divides the body in half. If the center of gravity is displaced, then the kite simply will not be able to rise into the air.

Secondly, the slings, with the help of which the flying vehicle is controlled, must be chosen of a convenient length and fixed in certain places.

And thirdly, do not forget about the snake's tail: it is not only a beautiful decoration, but also a steering wheel. That is why the tail must be well and correctly adjusted.

Basic requirements for a kite

The body of the kite should be made rigid and strong so that the wind does not deform it. At the same time, a flying kite must be light, otherwise it simply will not rise to a height. The ability to easily fold, unfold and undergo transformation is also a prerequisite.

Making a kite

So, what do we need in order for our kite to fly above the clouds? All the "ingredients" can be easily found at home:

- newspapers or a plastic bag;

Wooden sticks 91 and 83 centimeters long;

Flight strip (or ribbon);

Wood knife;

Fabric stripes.

The ends of wooden sticks (make recesses in them in advance) must be wrapped with tape.

On a long stick, measure 25 centimeters from above and at this distance tie the second stick crosswise. Wrap the junction with tape for better adhesion.

Then take a strip of ribbon and wrap the snake so that it goes through all the notches you made. Now cover each groove with a tape with tape.

Now the made frame needs to be put on a bag prepared in advance and cut to shape. After that, fasten the cut bag tightly to the frame using ropes or tape.

Now let's turn to the lines. Unwind a 3-meter rope and tie it to the bottom of the kite and to the place where the sticks intersect, and decorate with bright fabric stripes every 20-30 centimeters of the rope.

If you did everything correctly, then your kite will fly very beautifully and effectively! Successful flights and beautiful kites!

Prepared based on materials from the website podelkidlyadetei.ru

The Chinese have long believed that a kite soaring in the sky carries away all diseases, adversity and anxiety. In addition, flying a kite is always a spectacular and fairly simple activity. The main thing is to choose the right place and take into account some of the nuances.

What child does not dream of flying a bright kite? What could be stronger than the delight with which children watch a toy floating in the sky? "Daddy, let's make a snake!" - says the beloved child. And the father, in response, worriedly scratches the top of his head, since assembling a kite and launching it seems to be something especially difficult. But it’s not at all like that.

Theoretical minimum

Before flying a kite, you need to familiarize yourself with the basic concepts:

A leer is a thread with which a flying toy is controlled;

A bridle is a strong thread woven together that attaches the kite to the handrail;

Bearing area - the size of the projection of the kite on the horizontal surface;

The load-bearing capacity is the lifting force of one unit of the load-bearing area;

The center of pressure is the center of the bearing area.

How to make a toy fly?

How to make a kite so that it floats? To do this, its surface should not be flat, but bend upward under the pressure of the air flow. That is why it is not recommended to stretch the material (paper, oilcloth, fabric) too tightly when making a snake. Sometimes it is enough to fix only the corners. The center of gravity should be shifted to the tail, otherwise long hover cannot be achieved.

The leading edge of the kite must be carefully glued or reinforced to avoid twisting. For those who still do not know how to fly a kite, it is better to give preference to flying dummies that have a long tail - it gives the correct balance to the entire structure.

Another important element is the bridle, which should consist of two strands. But such a snake is quite difficult to control, so it is better for beginners to use a triple bridle.

Home workshop - manufacturing steps

1. To assemble the simplest type of kite, you need to take two thin pine, bamboo or plastic slats 30 and 50 cm long. Measure 15 cm from the end of the longer slat and attach a small slat at a right angle using strong threads. Thus, a cross for a flying toy is obtained.

2. At the ends of the strips, you need to make round notches into which a thin strong thread is pulled. You should get a quadrangular frame.

3. Then you need to take thin paper or oilcloth and cover the existing workpiece. To do this, the resulting frame is placed on a sheet of prepared material and outlined with a pencil or marker, adding a small distance to the allowances for fastening.

4. The pattern is cut out, after which the frame is thoroughly greased with glue and attached to the material. You can decorate the kite with felt-tip pens, drawing cartoon characters on it (which will delight your children), or depict the slender legs of your beloved woman on it (which will delight you).

5. Now you can start attaching the bridle. For this, a spool of fishing line is taken, which is attached to the left corner of the workpiece. Then you need to stretch it to the snake's nose, and from there to the right corner to determine the length of the bridle. Cut off the thread and attach the tip to the right corner of the snake (it turns out a long thread from one edge to the other). Now we take the spool again, fix the fishing line in the bow of the structure, measure the distance to the left corner of the kite, add another ten centimeters, cut it off and tie it to the middle of the first thread.

6. The tail of a kite can be made from a thin cord or strong nylon thread, measuring 3.5-4 meters. The tail can be decorated with paper bows.

7. Launching a kite is impossible without a leash. To do this, a long strong thread is attached to the bridle, at the end of which you can tie a small stick for ease of control.

Flat flying designs

These kites are the simplest and most famous. The frame is made of pine or any other light wood. The cladding is made of foil or paper. The paper does not provide stability to the structure, so it must be strong (mica paper, tissue paper or rice paper). If a film is used, then it should not stretch well, but at the same time adhere well to the frame (it is best to buy acrylic).

What does a serpent monk look like?

This flying model got its name due to its similarity with the hood of a monastic robe. Such a kite is perfectly centered, so a two-legged bridle is enough to launch it. The tail is used as a balancer, it should be light and thin. It is better to choose a dense material for such a kite, because under the gusts of wind it crumples and falls too easily.

Bow flying structure

This is one of the varieties of the flat kite. The frame is constructed from a pair of slats for lightness. In this case, the front rail gives rigidity to the entire structure, but there is a great sensitivity to the wind. It is not always possible for beginners to master the launch of this type of kite the first time.

Box structure

This kind of homemade snake looks pretty solid, but it's easy to do. He doesn't need a tail. Moreover, such snakes can lift small loads, so that a small digital camera can be placed in them, having previously turned it on for video recording or burst shooting. Thus, you can get completely unique footage from a bird's eye view. But the box-shaped structure keeps well in the air only in strong winds.

How to fly a kite: choosing a place

So that nothing interferes with the flight process, you should choose open areas without any obstacles. Trees, kiosks, buildings located nearby interfere with the direct passage of air currents and create unnecessary turbulence. The sea coast with its breeze is perfect (unless, of course, you have to jump over the bodies of the tourists). It is best to stay away from highways, airfields and power lines.

How to fly a kite (instruction)

First, you need to determine the direction of the wind, just slobbering your finger. Now the kite is solemnly awarded to a friend (girlfriend, child, wife). You need to stand in front of your assistant, who must hold the snake above his head, perpendicular to the ground. The wind should blow at your back, the reel with the line should be in your hands.

So how to fly a kite? To begin with, you need to slowly move away from a friend at a distance of about 20 meters, while unwinding the leash. Having given the command: “Let go!”, Sharply pull the rail towards you. With good wind strength, the kite itself will soar in the air, and all that remains is to enthusiastically watch its flight. Otherwise, you will have to run a little more over the field until the structure catches the air flow.

How to fly a kite correctly with different wind strengths? If it flies only when the person controlling it is running, then the wind is too weak. With fairly strong air currents, the flying structure easily floats in the air, and no additional effort is needed. The optimal wind speed for launching a paper model should be 3-6 m / s.

If the tension of the leash thread is too strong, then it should be unwound a little. If the wind dies down, then the snake is pulled to itself. To return the structure to the ground, it is necessary to gradually wind up the rail and go home with a sense of accomplishment.

The desire to take off and reach unknown heights is inherent in each of us. And even though, unlike birds, we cannot soar in the sky on our own, but we are able to give the joy of observing a free flight to ourselves and our children. Think we're talking about a plane ticket? But no. We just want to tell you a few ways to make a kite. This simplest aircraft, made from improvised tools with your own hands, will give you a lot of positive impressions and emotions.

Did you know that the first kites roamed the skies of Ancient China back in the second century BC? e.? Today, the art of building and running them is in vogue again. And every year, on every second Sunday of October, World Kite Day is celebrated.

By the way, the hero of our today's article is sometimes called "kite" in a foreign manner. So, when you come across this term, do not be surprised.
And now it's time to do snake building.

The easiest way

Do you want to spend a fine day cheerfully and profitably, watching how a kite made with your own hands soars cheerfully in the sky like a bird? if you do not have experience in creating such aeronautical structures yet, we advise you to start your journey by assembling the lightest model of a kite. It is attractive in that it can be done without a complicated drawing.

For work, you will need the simplest materials at hand:

  • tracing paper;
  • scissors;
  • wooden twigs or skewers about 60 cm long;
  • scotch tape or electrical tape;
  • thick thread or twine.

Instead of wooden twigs, thin window glazing beads will do, and tracing paper can be replaced with plain paper (but remember that the lighter the kite, the better it will fly).

Fold the twigs crosswise as in the photo, fix the junction with a thread or a thin rope, grease it for strength with quick-drying glue.

Put the resulting blank on tracing paper and cut out a quadrangle (well, you can't dare to call it a rhombus from the point of view of mathematics), for which the crossed sticks will be diagonals. Tape the sticks to the paper backing, paying special attention to the corners.

Cut a tape about 2 m long and 2 cm wide from tracing paper. Glue it around the perimeter of the quadrangle with tape.

Glue the intersection of the rods on both sides of the tracing paper with tape. Using a hot nail on the fire, carefully burn through the through hole to fix the thread to the snake.

Thread the thread through the hole, make a loop, and tie it around the cross. Remember that the loop should be on the inside of the kite. Tie a thread, cord or fishing line to the loop, wound on a spool (see the end of the article for how to make a spool).

The most crucial stage has come - decoration. Entrust this task to the child: he will independently decorate the craft at his own discretion. If you are assembling a test specimen to study its flight characteristics, you can skip the design stage.

The simplest kite is ready. You can go outside to catch the wind and cheer yourself up.

Rhomboid kite made of plastic bag

Want to make your kite more resilient to the elements. We suggest you use polyethylene as an improvised material. You will receive it absolutely free by cutting the old tight bag. Another good option to give new life to old things is to take umbrella fabric... It is dense, lightweight and does not get wet.

A little time, accuracy, strict adherence to the step-by-step photo instructions - and your kite will be ready to take off on its first flight. You will find that conquering the heavenly spaces is an exciting experience. Moreover, this version of the kite is more advanced than the first. He equipped with a bridle, making it easier to operate.

The original version

Who told you that a flying kite can only be triangular or diamond-shaped? Away with these outdated stereotypes. A little imagination and you can assemble a flying machine at home in the shape of a butterfly, flower or fish.

For work you will need:

  • thick flexible wire;
  • colored paper;
  • marker or pencil;
  • scissors;
  • glue stick;
  • a thick thread and a piece of thin rope.
First of all, think over the layout and size of your future creation. Draw a sketch on paper and think about the design.

And now it's time to bring ideas to life. Take pieces of flexible wire and bend them according to your pattern. Wrap the ends of the wire tightly with a thread, for a secure fixation, make at least a dozen turns at each connection and tie a knot.

Put the blank on paper, circle it with a marker, leaving a couple of centimeters around the perimeter for allowances. Make notches on the allowances so that the edges do not wrinkle when folded.

Cover the remaining allowances with glue and glue to the base of the workpiece. You can make a snake out of several colors of paper or fabric. In this case, cutting out the necessary elements, proceed in the same way.

To strengthen the frame, tie additional pieces of wire on the back of the structure.

You can decorate the product with tissue paper or scraps of thin fabric, you need to glue them to the front side.

It remains to consolidate the cherished thread of management. In order for the kite to fly, it must be done correctly. Regardless of its size and shape, fasten the rope in 3 places on the frame on the back of the product. Next, tie its ends, stepping back from the center of the structure by 30 cm, and tie a thread.

Your very own fantasy kite is ready to fly. Any child will appreciate this toy. But he will get even more joy from the launches of his new pet if adults take the time to teach him this art.

Rectangular kite

We present to your attention a master class for creating a rectangular flying kite.

Craft it with your kids and you get triple benefits:

  • give the younger generation do-it-yourself skills;
  • show that reality is much more interesting than the virtual world of gadgets;
  • get a lot of fun from co-creation.

Why is there a triple! You can still enumerate the advantages of such a hand-made for a long time, but it's time to start directly with the manufacture.

  • scissors.
Fold the parchment paper along its length, aligning the edges. This is necessary to outline the middle line. Place the smallest stick along the top edge of the narrow side of the rectangle, stepping back a centimeter from the edge. Lubricate the free edge of the sheet with glue and wrap it so that the stick is inside, it should be tightly fixed.

Lubricate a 48 cm long stick with PVA and glue to the center line of the workpiece.

Place the remaining sticks on the diagonals of the rectangle.

Glue them with pieces of paper, as shown in the photo.

Cut squares or arbitrary shapes out of colored paper and stick to the front of the rectangle.

Make a hole on both sides of the intersection of the diagonals.

Tie the ends of the sticks along the upper corners of the rectangle with pieces of thread, pulling them slightly.

Tie a long piece of string to the upper right corner of the kite. String a ring on the thread, it will help you control the flying machine. Then pass the thread through the holes previously made in the center of the rectangle and again pass it through the ring. Tie the end of the thread to the upper left corner of the garment.

Tie the end of the line firmly to the control ring.

Glue long strips of corrugated paper to the bottom of the kite. These "tails" will help him balance in the air currents. Their optimal size is 5 cm * 2.5 m.

The air wanderer is ready to surprise you with its flight characteristics. Enjoy your flight!

Cardboard coil for a snake at home

In order for the kite to proudly soar upward, you need a very long string or fishing line. Naturally, walking with an armful of threads in your hands is impractical. A coil is used for comfortable starting and control. You can buy ready-made, or you can make it out of cardboard at home.

For work you will need:
  • corrugated board;
  • glue gun;
  • scissors or cutter;
  • pencil;
  • ruler;
  • compasses (desirable, but not required).
Draw a circle with a diameter of 20 cm. Cut two of these blanks out of cardboard. Cut some comfortable finger slots on them, they should match exactly on both circles.

Cut several strips 2.5 cm wide.

Mark the inner circle, use a pair of compasses or a suitable template.

Roll the cut strips along the contour of the cutouts, glue with hot melt glue.

Glue the inner ring in the same way.

Glue the second circle on top of it.

Glue the end of the long thread to the inner surface of the spool and wind the thread.

So that it does not get confused, tie a match to its end, fix it with glue. Thread the thread through the slot on the outer ring.

With such a convenient device, your flying kite will conquer not only the sky, but also the hearts of your children.

Now let's talk about how to properly fly a kite. For spectacular flights, you need to achieve maximum controllability and maneuverability of the product.
  1. Choose an open place to launch, otherwise instead of enjoying the flight, you will have to shoot your kite from the trees over and over again.
  2. Make sure the wind is blowing outside. Without it, you will not be able to launch your creation. Optimum wind strength when thin branches of trees sway and ripples in the water. If he gets stronger, there is a risk of a snake crash. Then stand with your back to the wind and hold the snake in front of you. If designed correctly, it can take off right out of your hands. Isn't it magic?
  3. Having problems with your flight control? Check if the thread is attached to the bridle exactly in the middle. Failure to comply with this condition will lead to uncontrollable kite.
  4. Is the bridle secured correctly, but the snake has a life of its own, completely ignoring your commands? Checking the tail. Try it alternately lengthen and weight... Increase the length, if this does not help, tie a weighting to the tail. It can be a paper bow or just a bunch of grass - use whatever is on hand.
  5. Is it hard for a snake to take off? Does he not want to climb? Try to lighten the tail. Get rid of unnecessary decor or shorten it a little. But remember the golden rule: measure seven times, cut one.
Armed with our tips and detailed workshops, you can get to work. With a little practice, a do-it-yourself kite of any design will become commonplace for you. Do not be afraid to conquer heights and teach this to your children.
