Huawei media pad m3 light 10 specifications. a review of almost a tablet of my dreams

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 is a mid-range tablet with a large display. The device was announced in early June 2017. It features a massive screen as well as high quality sound.

Appearance and ergonomics

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 is dominated by a practical design, thanks to which the device is really convenient to use. There are rather thin bezels around the huge display. There is also a metal frame around the entire perimeter, making the appearance of the tablet computer very elegant.

Below the screen is a navigation button with a built-in fingerprint scanner. The edges of the aluminum body are rounded, which makes it comfortable to use the gadget in any situation. Available colors: space gray, silver and gold. Dimensions: height - 241.3 mm, width - 171.5 mm, thickness - 7.1 mm, weight - 460 g.

Display

The screen in the tablet MediaPad M3 Lite 10 is not only large, but also of high quality. Its 10.1-inch diagonal is complemented by a 1920-by-1200-pixel FHD resolution. It uses the classic IPS matrix with maximum viewing angles. There is a serious margin of brightness. The backlight level is adjusted automatically, and this is done very correctly.

Color reproduction is close to natural shades. If you want to change the color scheme, then you can do it yourself using the settings. Thanks to the oleophobic coating, no streaks or prints remain on the display.

Iron and performance

Works MediaPad M3 Lite 10 running Android 7.0, which comes right out of the box. This operating system has been modified using the proprietary EMUI 5.1 shell. Responsible for the performance is a processor with eight Snapdragon 435 cores with a maximum frequency of 1400 MHz. The Adreno 505 chip is a graphics accelerator.

For a mid-range tablet, the presence of 3 GB of RAM looks like a definite plus. The amount of built-in memory is 16 GB or 32 GB, depending on the model. The memory can be expanded using microSD cards (up to 128GB). In the synthetic AnTuTu test, the device scores over 47,000 points. Games can be played comfortably only at low graphics settings. As for the daily work, there are no problems here, everything functions smoothly and stably.

Communication and sound

The Chinese manufacturer paid special attention to the sound system Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10, which is worthy of praise. To create surround sound, four powerful speakers are used at once, which are capable of realizing a stereo effect. SWS 3.0 technology makes the tablet respond instantly to the slightest action and twist. Collaboration with Harman Kardon has achieved crystal clear sound. There is support for LTE, Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi Direct.

Camera

Present in Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 and 8-megapixel main camera with 2.0 aperture and autofocus. In the daytime, its capabilities are enough to take great photos, comparable to the level of good smartphones. There is an 8-megapixel front camera, but no autofocus.

conclusions

The MediaPad M3 Lite 10 has definitely earned the attention of buyers. A tablet PC costs from 21,000 rubles, and for this amount the user gets at his disposal a practical and stylish metal case, high-quality acoustics, a truly massive screen and an abundance of memory.

Pros:

  • Great speaker system.
  • Large and juicy display.
  • Stylish aluminum body.
  • A lot of permanent and random access memory.
  • High quality oleophobic layer.

Minuses:

  • Not the most powerful stuff.
  • Average battery life.

Video reviews

The first tablet of the MediaPad line was introduced in 2011. Since that moment, the company has managed to replenish the series with dozens of different models, changing the design every year, as well as, of course, increasing functionality and performance. Relatively recently, a model with an index visited the editorial office, and this time we reviewed MediaPad with the serial number M3 Lite 10, which was and is already available in stores.

Package contents and first impressions

Only a tablet and a charger (without a box) came to our editorial office. In the package itself there is still a "paper clip" and documentation. No other "goodies" are included in the price. A rather necessary accessory - a cover - is still worth getting. Firstly, it will help to comfortably use the device, because most cases act as a stand. Secondly, it will be extra protection during transportation, which will obviously come in handy sooner or later.

Setting up this particular MediaPad did not differ in anything remarkable, there is nothing new in the process itself. The only thing that had to be dealt with at once was the fingerprint scanner, which resembling the Home button is not. That is, it is not even pressed (like the Home button on the iPhone 7/8). Later, a function was found that sets everything up, but initially it was turned off. And the finger intuitively reaches for the scanner-button when you need to return to the desktop, and it would be nice if the corresponding function was immediately active.

Design and usability

The MediaPads have changed their design quite noticeably. Some of them strongly resembled a large smartphone. But the current version of the exterior already clearly hints at landscape orientation in use, as evidenced by the placement of the logo, fingerprint scanner and front camera. The tablet itself cannot be called large (although in the beginning of the era of "thin frames" it is still too big), but in comparison with the majority of existing proposals, the dimensions are standard: 241.3 × 171.5 × 7.1 mm, weight - 310 grams.

The front side of the tablet, of course, is completely covered with glass. Aluminum frame on the sides. But the entire back panel is made of plastic. The plastic side of the sample we received has quite a few small scratches (everything else is like new). For those who would like to keep the original look of the tablet, this is another reason to buy a case. The body itself can be in three colors - gray with a black frame, white or gold with a light frame.

The tablet has a standard set of buttons and connectors - there are power and volume buttons (right), microUSB (left) and a headphone jack (upper right corner). The top and bottom of the frame also have a pair of speakers and noticeable joints for the antennas. Separately, it is worth noting the tray for the SIM card and memory card. There is nothing special with it, but a little lower from it there is a hole for the microphone, which can be confused with the hole for opening the tray, thereby damaging the microphone itself. We have already seen something similar, for example, on.

On the front under the display is the already mentioned fingerprint scanner. It works quickly and fairly accurately. There is a charging indicator and a front-facing camera above the display. At the back, of course, is the main camera window (without flash).

Globally, the tablet is quite easy to use. You can get used to any little things in the ergonomics of the gadget (sometimes I accidentally pressed the power button, and when the charger is connected, it is not very convenient to hold the device on the left side, because the cable interferes). In all other respects, this is still the same tablet to which we are all already accustomed, the use of which is no different from other such. And it looks, in my opinion, very good, even though the design is practically nothing loud and does not stand out.

Display

As the name implies, the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 has a rather large display - 10.1 inches. The screen resolution is 1920 × 1200 pixels, and the pixel density is 224 ppi. It's certainly not a flagship 2K panel, but it's still good in everyday use. At the moment, this is the standard resolution for good tablets, no more, no less.

The main thing is that the picture did not disappoint me personally. Initially, it seemed (subjectively) coldish, but the Eye Comfort mode, which takes the picture a little into warm colors, corrected this situation. True, there is a separate item in the display settings that is responsible for the temperature. I would add a little more saturation, but there are no such adjustments anymore. But at the same time, the IPS-matrix shows a quite good picture, on this display I liked both watching movies and viewing photos on social networks. Naturally, everything else did not cause any complaints either.

The tablet also has auto brightness control, which is quite comfortable and imperceptible for the user, adjusts to the situation. At a high angle, you can see that the colors darken a little, but during use, hardly anyone looks at the tablet that way. There were no problems with the sensor either. With the display, this MediaPad did it all.

Sound

A separate item that the company brags about is sound. And here it was not entirely by chance that the Harman / Kardon logo appeared. And as already mentioned, the tablet has four speakers at once. They are loud. At the maximum, of course, they can "choke" a little, but everything will depend on the specific composition. In general, as for a tablet, the sound is cool. The only thing that fails is the placement of the lower speakers, which can be closed in some situations, but this is not such a fundamental point that greatly spoils the impression.

If the user has good headphones and often connects them to the tablet, then with this MediaPad there is no need to worry about it. All of my personal headphones played perfectly the songs I was used to. This is another plus in the box of media capabilities of the device, which is designed for these tasks. And it's not for nothing that the company focuses on sound, because the speakers did not disappoint, and everything was cool with the rather sensitive headphones.

Hardware platform and software

Under the hood, the tablet runs an eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 (MSM8940) with Adreno 505 video. Memory configurations start at 3/16 GB, and there is also an intermediate version of 3/32 and a maximum of 4/64. It is better to skip the younger version, because this storage volume will not be enough even for undemanding users, even though there is also a microSD card slot. The tablet is also capable of working in LTE networks and supports Wi-Fi of the AC standard.

In the tables of synthetic tests, such a tablet is far from the top, but its performance is sufficient for ordinary tasks. The Internet and social networks will work quickly, there will be no problems in playing videos and other media either. For a device whose name includes the word "media", this is probably the main thing. And in this respect it works well.

The installed Android 7.0 OS is supplemented with EMUI 5.1 shell. The system has enough variety of settings and capabilities so as not to use third-party software, although initially this may seem a little. It is enough to delve into the parameters and there are useful items. True, out of the box on the tablet there are a couple of unnecessary applications (Yandex and Sberbank, for example), but nothing prevents you from removing them. I was personally pleased with the work of all this. Minor annoyances do occur, of course, but these are random errors, not permanent problems.

Autonomy

A 6660 mAh battery is also hidden inside the case. The PCMark autonomy test showed a result of more than 8.5 hours. In fact, I got 6.5-8 hours of screen time. As usual, I didn’t run games or something as demanding, but rather used the Internet, media and other simple applications.

A complete charging block will recover the battery in about four hours, which is quite a long time. Unfortunately, there is no mention of fast charging. Therefore, it is worth considering the time to recharge before long trips.

Cameras

Taking pictures from tablets is not becoming more convenient, but cameras are getting better. Not enough to compete with them even in mid-budget smartphones (if we're not talking about flagship tablets). Our tablet has two cameras, both with 8MP resolution and no flash.

In the "viewfinder" the picture looks better than it turns out. These cameras need as much light as possible. Taking pictures outdoors with a tablet is inconvenient, and in home lighting, the pictures will be noisy and not quite in natural colors. But for scanning documents, for example, it will do. The same story is with the front camera, which is not very suitable for photos, but is quite suitable for video communication.

The tablet Huawei M3 Lite (Gold) has an intelligent energy-saving technology that ensures long-term uninterrupted operation of the lithium polymer battery without the need for additional recharging. Powerful 8-core Snapdragon 435 processor and 3GB of RAM provide high performance when running multiple applications or games at the same time. The 1920x1200 pixel display delivers the most detailed, vivid images.

High-quality acoustics and two built-in speakers are responsible for realistic balanced sound. The main 8-megapixel autofocus camera delivers crisp photos and videos. The model has a fingerprint scanner that helps protect confidential information thanks to biometric identification. The Bluetooth module is designed for wireless communication over short distances with other devices. The case of the Huawei M3 Lite (Gold) tablet with rounded corners is made of metal and plastic, which are shock-resistant.

My sister is somehow indifferent to a variety of gadgets, unlike me, from which I am just crazy and do not miss the opportunity to enjoy a review of one of them as soon as I see a new model. Once she came to me, knowing my love for smartphones and tablets, so that I could give her advice on which tablet to buy for her personal needs. But first of all, you need to find out why he is, for what purpose the purchase is made, she needed him for video communication, viewing social pages, news, but most of all for while away the evening watching another love melodrama, which she can finally choose itself.

In this case, it became clear to me that a 10-inch screen would be best suited, on which it would be good to watch movies. The model was selected according to its financial capabilities, but necessarily a proven manufacturer and on the basis of feedback from people who managed to check the quality of the purchased product. In general, there were a lot of proposals, but we agreed on one thing and this is the famous manufacturer Huawei, which managed to earn respect, produces high-quality gadgets. The model on which we decided on has the name Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10, it was her that I ordered, placing only the purchase for my sister, so that the guarantee was in her name. Three days later, the order came, but my sister came to brag. The gadget itself is inside an ordinary cardboard package, while it is quite strong, except for it, the kit includes a USB cable, an adapter, instructions, and, accordingly, a guarantee.

The tablet itself looks very nice, stylish, light, the diagonal, as expected, is 10 inches, it sits remarkably in the hand, quite thin. When choosing, I did not even pay attention to the fact that it has a fingerprint scanner function. When turned on, I saw a very beautiful, bright enough picture, natural saturated colors, which is due to the screen resolution, which is 1920 x 1200 pixels. The viewing angles in it are simply gorgeous, but otherwise it cannot be. At any tilt, the picture is not distorted, the colors do not change, which is important for watching video. It itself is made of aluminum, and it is durable, it feels pleasant, the assembly is good, nothing creaks or plays anywhere. In terms of size, they are: 240 x 173 x 7.1, quite thin and stylish, but the weight is 460 grams and this is most likely due to the capacity of the battery, which has 6600 mAh, which is generally very good.

It works on an eight-core processor, with the Android 7.0 operating system, in all the time it showed itself from the best side, did not freeze, did not buggy, responds quickly, the sensor is responsive, which is very pleased. Also, the fingerprint scanner reacts instantly to touch. An interesting decision of the manufacturer is to make 4 speakers at once, two of which he placed on the top end, and two more on the bottom end, which ensures good sound quality, which does not close if the tablet is in a case.

The amount of RAM is 3 GB, but the main memory is 32 GB, but it is still possible to expand it using a memory card. The cameras in it, both the main one and the front one, make 8 megapixels, the photos come out of good quality, but due to the lack of LED flash, in the evening without lighting it will not work. In general, the sister was very pleased with the purchase, because this tablet is working properly, there were no incidents for the whole time, and all thanks to the manufacturer Huawei, which produces exceptionally high-quality equipment, and you have to pay for the quality.

Video review

All (5)

The Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 8.0 is quite thin and light, but it looks like most.

The first thing that catches your eye is the rather wide bezels above and below the screen. This is normal for a tablet, it is more convenient to hold the device without touching the display, but it looks a little old-fashioned. The next detail is the oval fingerprint scanner. It works quite quickly, but its similarity to the Home button confuses at first. The fact is that by default on-screen buttons are enabled on the tablet and the scanner works only as a scanner. But he just beckons to "wasted" to press it instead of "Home" on the display. It's good that this mess can be cut off by turning off the on-screen buttons and controlled by one key in the manner of or. At the back you can see a non-removable matte plastic back and a camera peephole, decorated with a separate border. There is nothing more to add, except perhaps the stereo speakers at the top and bottom ends, it's still a nice detail.

Ergonomically, the M3 Lite 8 is typical. Thanks to the wide bezels, you will not touch the screen, but it is simply uncomfortable to hold the device in your hand for a long time, except in two. The materials of the case cannot be called premium, in contrast to, there are only frames made of metal, the back is already plastic. During the tests, it worn out a little and earned small scratches. The same screen turned out to be without advanced protection, the company often sticks films on the same Honor, but here it is not visible. The build quality can be called good, but the tablet still bends noticeably under pressure from the hands.

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 8 is available in three colors - gray, gold and white. Although in the company store you can see only the first two.

Dimensions and weight - 4.9

The MediaPad M3 Lite 8 is a compact and lightweight 8-inch model.

By weight (316 grams), it is inferior to or. However, the tablet is lighter than most 8-inch models on the market. The dimensions of the novelty are 213 × 123 × 7.8 mm. Interestingly, in terms of length and width, it is comparable to the 8.4-inch Huawei MediaPad M3, that is, its frames could be narrower. The tablet fits well in the palm of your hand, but it is still inconvenient to hold it in one hand for a long time. But it will not weigh on your bag or suitcase.

Ports and interfaces - 4.4

The communication capabilities of the Huawei MedaiPad M3 Lite 8 can be called quite broad, mainly due to the telephony capabilities of the LTE version of the tablet. Otherwise, everything is typical.

As is customary, MediaPad M3 Lite comes in versions with and without a 4G modem. You can make calls from the tablet, but on the speakerphone, which in fact can be called rather quiet. Note the rather advanced Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, dual-band and high-speed. In addition, there is A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.2. An infrared port or NFC chip is missing. The connectors and buttons are located as follows:

  • on the right - the power key, volume rocker, slot for microSD and nanoSIM;
  • at the top - speaker, headphone jack;
  • below - speaker, microUSB 2.0, microphone;
  • there is nothing on the left.

Performance - 3.3

The performance of the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite is moderate. It is enough for smooth operation of the interface, but not for all games or multi-screen mode.

An eight-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 is used as a chipset (four cores at 1.1 GHz and four at 1.4 GHz). The video processor is Adreno 505, the amount of RAM is 3 GB. The Snapdragon 435 is considered an entry-level chipset, but it is quite capable of smooth operation with daily tasks. The only confusing thing is that smartphones with the same filling cost 8-12 thousand each, and therefore MediaPad M3 Lite with the same platform seems expensive. In addition, it is not so successful in coping with heavy games, including due to the high Full HD resolution. Moreover, the tablet can slow down in multi-window mode. But in all other scenarios, the device proved to be quite worthy.

If we talk about synthetic tests, then the tablet gets the following marks:

  • SunSpider (browser speed) - 1999 ms, quite long, like the models from two years ago;
  • GeekBench 4 (processor test) - 2665 points, higher than a smartphone;
  • 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited (graphics test) - 9910, at the level.

Display - 4.7

The screen of the MediaPad M3 Lite 8 received a fairly high rating, but rather for the absence of obvious drawbacks. It lacks some zest, but it's just a solid display.

The screen resolution is quite typical, 1920 × 1200 pixels with an aspect ratio of 16: 9. Together with the 8-inch diagonal, the pixel density is 283 per inch. This is close to 5-inch HD smartphones, that is, it is still quite clear, individual squares are visible only close to the screen. The display does not have an oleophobic coating or any special protective glass.

The measured brightness range is quite wide for a tablet - from 4 to 400 nits. The lower limit will allow you to safely read from the screen at night. But on a sunny day, you will have to strain the gas a little. It's not just about brightness, but also about the usual contrast ratio today - 750: 1. But the backlight uniformity is high - 95%, and the color gamut is wide - 98% of the standard. Color reproduction is accurate, the error is only 2 units. But the temperature, as always, turned out to be a little too high. But this is solved by the eye protection mode, in the manner of Night Shift's.

Battery - 3.8

The autonomy of the tablet can be called average, in our tests it got about 4 points, but it "failed" in load mode.

The battery capacity of the device is 4800 mAh. This is only slightly more than a 5 "smartphone or 7" tablet. But in general, it is quite at the level for its category. But let's get down to how the battery performed in our benchmarks. In load mode, the tablet worked for 3 hours and 40 minutes, which is not enough. Even the old one lasted 50 minutes longer. In the video test, the MediaPad M3 Lite also showed mediocre results, up to 8 and a half hours of video playback, bypassing perhaps or. But in idle mode at low display brightness, it turned out an impressive 24 hours. Not bad, but hardly anyone needs a tablet for "idle" and waiting.

Note that the tablet takes a long time to charge: a standard 5V and 2A charging takes almost 4.5 hours.

Cameras - 5.0

The tablet received cameras at 8 and 8 MP. They can be called high-quality by the standards of tablets in general, but they are still inferior to smartphones.

The camera interface is as typical as anyone's. A swipe on the left brings up shooting modes, and a swipe on the right brings up settings. Everything else is already visible on the start screen of the application. Of the modes, we note HDR, panorama shooting and a rather simple manual mode. It can only be praised for manually adjusting the color temperature from 2000 to 8000 Kelvin. As for the quality of the photo, it is mediocre for its resolution. Even during the day, photos are a little noisy and suffer from overexposure. The same HDR mode does not help much to cope with this. Video recording capabilities are limited to Full HD recording without AF tracking.

The 8 MP front camera is capable of shooting Full HD video (1920 × 1080 pixels) and panoramic selfies. High-quality photos are obtained only in good light; indoors, the picture dramatically loses its clarity. As in any modern front-facing camera, there are decorating filters here. This time they have been simplified to a single slider and the degree of decoration can be changed from zero to ten.

Photos from the camera Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 8.0 - 5.0

Photo from the front camera Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 8.0 - 5.0

Temperature - 3.0

The tablet turned out to be not the most temperamental and this is good, it will not cause much discomfort in work.

In idle mode with the display on, the body temperature rose to 32.2 near the fingerprint scanner. If you load the device with heavy applications, then it heats up to 40.5 degrees on the back. This is more than many competitors, but it cannot be said that it is hot.

Memory - 4.0

MediaPad M3 Lite 8 can be purchased in two versions, 16 and 32 GB of permanent memory. In our case, we had about 24 GB of 32 available. These are typical volumes for a tablet, if you are not enough, you can easily add up to 128 GB using a microSD card.

Peculiarities

Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 8.0 cannot be called special, it stands out primarily with a pair of speakers, as well as a fresh version and a well-thought-out branded interface.

First of all, the abundance of pre-installed software is a little surprising. Moreover, not everything can be removed by yourself. The use of the SwiftKey keyboard, as well as the presence of branded audio and video players, will be called unusual. Another feature is the combination of on-screen buttons and a functional fingerprint scanner. At first, such a neighborhood is embarrassing - it is not clear where to press, either the keys on the display, or the scanner. Therefore, we recommend removing the on-screen buttons in the settings and using one, in the manner of "one-button" Meizu smartphones. So, a short press on the scanner means the action "Back", a long press is equivalent to "Home", and a swipe to the side will bring up a list of unloaded applications.
