House consecration. When is the best time to dedicate a house?

Many have heard about the rite of consecrating a house or apartment, or even participated in it themselves. Not everyone, however, comprehends the meaning of this rite: some doubt its necessity, while others, on the contrary, treat it as some kind of magical act. What kind of rite is this, how should one treat it, and who has the right to perform it?

We know that there is a Guardian Angel over the whole world: over every country, over every city, over every village. Consecrating the apartment and house, the priest invokes the Holy Spirit with the help of prayers and drives out evil spirits from this room. It is consecrated, dedicated to God and is under the protection of the Guardian Angel of this city or village, and not a brownie. The angel keeps this dwelling on the condition that a normal, moral way of life is carried out in it.

What is the meaning of consecration

The Church sanctifies everything necessary for human life with prayer and blessing. Every person wants to have prosperity in his house, happiness, light and warmth. The consecration of a house or apartment is evidence, first of all, of our hope in God, our faith that nothing happens to us without His holy will.

Consecration of the house - this is a rite performed by a priest so that the blessing of God descends into the daily life of the inhabitants of this house and that everything in the life of these people is done with God's help.

The church word "sanctification" in this case has a different meaning than the consecration of water or an icon. In relation to this order, the word “blessing” is more appropriate: when they are performed, we prayerfully call on God’s blessing on the house and those living in it, on their Christian life and the performance of good deeds.

Righteous John of Kronstadt wrote that the rites of consecration are caused by the extreme need of people who have an unceasing need for God.

From time immemorial, Christians have consecrated their homes. Usually this was done immediately after the construction of the house, so that even before the settlement, the spirit of holiness and purity was present in it. It was believed that if the house is consecrated, then God himself lives in it with his family, who protects him from everyone.

Also, the rite of consecration of the house can be carried out after a major overhaul, after the death of one of those living in the house, or if quarrels have begun in the family.

Orthodox Christians believe that in this rite the Lord Himself sends a blessing to life in a new place.

The Lord always comes to the house of those who yearn to see Him.

The apartment is cleansed of "evil spirits" and the lives of all households within these walls are blessed.

At the same time, it should be understood that this is not a mystical rite that “renews” the energy of the house, but the consecration of the home by invoking the Lord and turning to Him in order to receive a blessing for a pious life. It is important to remember that the consecration of housing itself does not give a person anything, because it is necessary to try to grow in spiritual life and strive for the main ideal of holiness - the Lord Jesus Christ.

The whole world created by God lives and moves according to the Law of God. Therefore, without the blessing and help of God, nothing truly valuable, important, good, useful can be done. The Savior himself in the Gospel said: "You Can't Do Anything Without Me"(John 15:5).

The consecration of the dwelling takes about forty minutes of time. It may vary slightly depending on the circumstances. Before the beginning of the consecration of the apartment (house), a table is prepared, on which the priest will put the Gospel, a cross, a container with oil, an assayer, a bowl of holy water.

Before the consecration of the apartment, images of the cross are applied to four load-bearing walls (to the cardinal points). Candles are also placed under the signs of the crosses.

The practical side of consecration is sprinkling the house with holy water, anointing the walls with consecrated oil (oil), burning incense, and also reading certain prayers by the priest, in which all residents are commemorated and God's blessing is asked for their future life. Orthodox Christians are convinced that during consecration, when sprinkling with holy water and reading special prayers, all demonic forces are driven away from housing. It is for the blessed preservation of the apartment from the influence of evil spirits that consecration is carried out.

During consecration, demonic forces are driven away, and the apartment is filled with divine grace, which demons fear.

Consecration is somewhat reminiscent of a prayer service. In this ceremony, God is asked for help in all household chores. It is believed that the house will be protected not only from demons, but also from evil people.

During this ceremony, a special grace descends on the dwelling, which gives the inhabitants of the house a quiet life within its walls, without quarrels and quarrels.

At the same time, it should be borne in mind that the rite will not solve everyday or family problems, but will set the people living in the house in the right mood, help to find God's blessingand will allow you to decide whether a person will live with God or give in to his passions.

Why Consecration Rites Are Necessary

Why is it so important to sanctify houses in our time. Why do you need to consecrate a house or apartment?

According to the teaching of the holy fathers of the Church, an unclean spirit, the devil, the prince of darkness and hell, the spirit of malice, the enemy of the human race, reigns in the air, until the very second coming of Christ. The word air has several meanings. This is the atmosphere of the Earth, in which we physically exist, and what modern pagans and Jews call the astral - the area of spiritual visions and contacts, in which, like nowhere else, the devil abides and dominates with legions of unclean spirits.

Through the astral plane, countless legions of demons filled our homes. People are no longer able to understand why their family and life well-being is being destroyed. Few people today are able to connect the disobedience of children, their addiction to alcohol and drugs, the endless divorces of young and middle-aged couples with the presence of demonic forces in their home and life - the spirits of aggression, anger, revenge, shameless passion.

When they say that a brownie lives in a house, it means that an evil spirit lives in an unconsecrated house. There are such unreasonable people who, when moving to a new apartment, are the first to let a cat into the house (supposedly she is friends with the brownie, and then he does not harm people), and not icons and not holy books. They do not sanctify the house by sprinkling it with holy water, but propitiate the brownie. Unfortunately, this is very common.

Therefore, today the grace of God, given through the rites of consecration, in particular, through the consecration of our homes, is especially necessary for us to help us protect, consciously protect ourselves from the viruses of sinful temptation and spiritual decay that penetrate our homes.

We pray that all the evil spirits leave the house and the Guardian Angel enters here and stays in this house (apartment). And for God to keep everyone living here (if it's an apartment), everyone working here (if it's an enterprise, a firm).

Will the sanctification of the house alone save us?

Saint Theophan the Recluse writes: “All the grace that comes from God through the holy cross, holy icons, holy water, relics, consecrated bread (artos, antidor, prosphora) and others, including the most holy communion of the Body and Blood of Christ, has power only for those who are worthy of this grace through prayers of repentance, repentance, humility, service to people, deeds of mercy and the manifestation of other Christian virtues. But if they are not there, then this grace will not save, it does not act automatically, like a talisman, and is useless for impious and imaginary Christians (without virtues).” The same can be said about the consecration of the dwelling.

No sanctification will make sense and will not have a beneficial effect on our lives if, in particular, the demons of television and radio broadcasting reign supreme in the air of our apartments and houses.

Of course, in our neo-pagan times, when all sorts of healers and psychics are so popular, people asking to bless a car or apartment, first of all, are waiting for some kind of magical action: now the priest will “sprinkle” holy water and everything will be fine and wonderful. I also really want everything to be fine and wonderful, so that the car does not get into accidents and does not break down, so that peace and tranquility reign in the family, so that no neighbors flood the consecrated apartment with water from the upper floors, etc. But at the same time, I nevertheless, I do not forget that Orthodoxy and worldly well-being are far from always compatible things. We cannot “force” God to send down what we need with the help of some magical actions, but we can ask Him with faith. Grace, help, various gifts God gives, gives exclusively by His mercy. Knowing this is paramount. Otherwise, a pious Christian rite can be turned into pagan witchcraft, ungodly and vile. We must remember that everything we receive in life comes only from God.

When we pray to the Lord, we need to believe that the Lord is omnipotent, that He can create or grant what we ask for. To believe that He loves us, that He is merciful and good, that is, He wants the best for everyone. It is with such faith that we must pray, that is, turn our mind and heart to God. And then, if during the performance of the ceremony we not only stand next to the priest, but also pray heartily with faith, then we will be able to receive sanctifying grace from the Lord.

Let us remember that the consecration of a house is both its protection from all kinds of disasters, and a blessing for good deeds and for the protection of our home from everything evil that is contrary to God; a blessing that we do not leave God and try to direct our lives not according to the laws that the enemy of the human race introduces into human life, but according to the Law of God.

The principal goal of the consecration of an apartment, which people most often simply do not suspect, is the transformation of this dwelling into a small Church.

The very fact of a priest coming to the house or a prayer service performed in the presence of family members (and most often this is how the whole family gathers) is contact, communion of grace, and in no case should you underestimate this, especially when you consider that contact with it carried out through the conciliar prayer of the family as a small Church, where two or three are gathered in the name of Christ(see Matt. 18:20).

What gives us sanctification?

The consecration of an apartment does not solve our family, everyday problems, it only helps, sets up. Man himself is free to choose whether he lives with God or acts guided by his own passions. If a family is trying to live in a Christian way, then both its internal and external structure should testify to this. The internal arrangement is adjusted and preserved through fasting and prayer, attendance at divine services. And the outward expression of the intention to live piously finds itself, among other things, in the order of the consecration of the dwelling.

Who can bless a home? Can every person sanctify his home?

Many are interested in the question of whether it is possible to carry out the consecration of the apartment on their own.

The church answers in the negative: the rite can only be performed by a clergyman.

If something bad happened in the house, there was a major quarrel or an unpleasant event, you yourself can sprinkle the apartment with holy water and go around it with prayer. This will not be considered a rite of consecration, you will simply cleanse your house of bad emotions, memories, sensations.

To read a prayer, to poop, to sprinkle an apartment - not only is it possible, but everyone needs it. There is a pious tradition once a week, in the evening, to pick up burning candles, a censer, holy water and walk around the apartment singing. Sprinkle rooms and rooms. But the consecration of a dwelling by a priest is a completely different matter. This is not an ordinary, albeit very necessary, matter, but a special, solemn event in the life of a family. By the way, therefore, it is best that all family members be present at the consecration of the home.

A priest is a person appointed by God to a special ministry, it can be expressed as follows: this is a special delegate of God. It is to the priest that the Lord instructs to perform Divine services and the most important of them - the Liturgy. Therefore, in the person of a priest (regardless of his moral qualities), it is as if God Himself comes to your house. And bless your home.

As once the Savior, having entered the house of the publican (tax collector) Zacchaeus, granted salvation to him and all his household (Luke 19: 1-10), so now, together with the priest (servant of Christ), the Angels of God enter the new house. The Church asks the Lord to give peace to this house and graciously bless it, saving and enlightening all who are going to live in it.

Consecration of the house

The consecration of the house is performed by the priest according to a special order, containing prayers, calling on the house and living in it the blessing of God.

The practical side of consecration is the sprinkling of housing with holy water, the cruciform anointing of the walls with holy oil (oil), the burning of incense, and the reading of certain prayers by the priest, in which all residents are commemorated and God's blessing is asked for their future life.

All those present pray to the Lord of our life to send a guardian angel, the guardian of the new home, preserving everyone from all evil and instructing them to do virtues, to fulfill the commandments of Christ. They also ask that the Lord save them all from hunger, all kinds of deadly wounds and grant them health and long life.

There is a tradition according to which, after the consecration, a small table is laid and the priest is invited to tea drinking. Why is this needed? It is believed that the priest in this case symbolizes Jesus Christ himself. You seem to invite him into your house as the most long-awaited guest. However, tea drinking is not a mandatory rule, everything is up to you. In addition, remember that a visit by a priest to your home is a great occasion for the whole family to resolve some spiritual issues, to take an important step in spiritual life, which they may not decide to take in a different environment.

The rite itself does not insure you against sins. It only helps to find the ground under your feet, the foundation on which further life will be built within the walls of the house. It should be Christian clean and bright. Only then will it be possible to maintain harmony in the home.

Sanctification will not insure you against new sins, but will help build the inner foundation on which your family life will subsequently be built. It should be light in an Orthodox way - only in this case it will be possible to maintain peace and harmony in the house.

Why is the consecration of the house and apartment performed? How to do it right? Is it possible to consecrate yourself? Answers to questions about the rite of consecration of the dwelling.

Consecration of the dwelling

If this thing is not used sinfully, it can be consecrated, but if it is sinful, then it is not necessary.

Church rites

The Slavic word "rite" in itself means "attire", "clothing" (you can recall, for example, the verb "dress up"). Beauty, solemnity, variety of church rituals attract many people. But the Orthodox Church, in the words of St. John of Kronstadt, does not occupy anyone and does not engage in idle spectacles. Visible actions have an invisible, but completely real and effective content. The Church believes (and this belief has been confirmed by two thousand years of experience) that all the rites she performs have a certain sanctifying, that is, beneficial, renewing and strengthening effect on a person. This is an act of God's grace.

Conventionally, all rituals are divided into three types:

1. Liturgical rites - sacred actions performed during church services: anointing with oil, the great blessing of water, the removal of the holy shroud on Good Friday, and so on. These rites are part of the temple, liturgical life of the Church.

2. Symbolic rites express various religious ideas of the Church. These, for example, include the sign of the cross, which we repeatedly perform in remembrance of the sufferings of the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ and which, at the same time, is a real protection of a person from the influence of evil demonic forces and temptations on him.

3. Rites that sanctify the everyday needs of Christians: commemoration of the dead, the consecration of dwellings, products, things and various good undertakings: study, fasting, travel, construction, and the like.

What should be our participation in church ceremonies

Ritual forms are given their sacred meaning by prayer. Only through prayer does an action become a sacrament, and a number of external processes become a rite. Not only the priest, but also each of those present must contribute to the performance of the rite - their faith and their prayer.

Grace, help, various gifts God gives, gives exclusively by His mercy. But “just as the spring does not forbid those who wish to draw, so the treasure of grace does not forbid any of the people to be partakers of it” (St. Ephraim the Syrian). We cannot “force” God to send down what we need with the help of some magical actions, but we can ask Him with faith. The Holy Scriptures about the need for faith for prayer says: “Let him ask in faith, not at all doubting, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, lifted and tossed by the wind. Let not such a man think that he will receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:6-7). When we pray to the Lord, we need to believe that the Lord is omnipotent, that He can create or grant what we ask for. To believe that He loves us, that He is merciful and good, that is, He wants the best for everyone. It is with such faith that we must pray, that is, turn our mind and heart towards God. And then, if during the performance of the ceremony we not only stand next to the priest, but also pray heartily with faith, then we will be able to receive sanctifying grace from the Lord.

What is the meaning of consecration

Orthodox Christians call sanctification the rites that the Church introduces into the temple and personal life of a person, so that through these rites God's blessing descends on his life, on all his activities and all around him. At the heart of the diverse church prayers is the desire to spiritualize human activity, to perform it with God's help and with His blessing. We ask the Lord to direct our affairs in such a way that they are pleasing to Him and benefit our neighbors, the Church, the Fatherland and ourselves; bless our relationships with people so that peace and love prevail in them, etc. And so we ask that our house, things that belong to us, vegetables grown in our garden, water from the well, through the blessing of God descended on them, help us in this, protect, strengthen our strength. The consecration of a house, apartment, car or any other thing is evidence, first of all, of our hope in God, our faith that nothing happens to us without His holy will.

The Church sanctifies everything necessary for human life with prayer and blessing. The Church sanctifies all nature and all the elements: water, air, fire and earth.

Why Consecration Rites Are Necessary

The life, health and well-being of people largely depend on the state of their natural and spiritual environment. The consequences of ecological cataclysms associated with contamination and destruction of the surrounding nature that are detrimental to people have not only visible, external, physical causes, but also invisible, spiritual causes. Among the spiritual causes underlying all natural phenomena, as well as social and state phenomena, such as revolutions, wars and various kinds of global restructuring, the Holy Church singles out, first of all, the religiosity of people's life. What is the degree of religiosity, what is the morality and behavior of people, such is the state of visible nature, and the course of history. People sin, move away from God, perverting their moral order, and, as a result, it deteriorates in the world. For the first time this happened after the fall of our forefathers Adam and Eve, who violated the only commandment of God given to them. Man sinned, and as a result, the whole world created by God for man changed: destruction, illness, sorrow, corruption entered the world. The Lord spoke to Adam and Eve after the fall: “He said to the woman: multiplying I will multiply your sorrow… And he said to Adam: … cursed is the earth for you; in sorrow you will eat of it all the days of your life” (Genesis 3:16-17).

Righteous John of Kronstadt writes that the rites of consecration “are caused by the extreme need of nature itself or the nature of the elements and the need of the people themselves, who live in the air and have an unceasing need for the water element,” for fire and earth. “All nature, all the elements are constantly defiled and corrupted by human sins and dark and crafty spirits that live in the air and give rise to all sorts of pernicious trends and diseases in it. There is an urgent need for church consecration and healing of these elements.

Why is it so important to consecrate houses in our time?

According to the teaching of the Holy Fathers of the Church, the unclean spirit, the devil, the prince of darkness and hell, the spirit of malice, the enemy of the human race, dominates the air until the very second coming of Christ. The Slavic word air has several meanings. This is the atmosphere of the earth in which we physically exist; this is the ether, which is now more than ever overflowing with radio waves, television, cellular and radio communications signals; finally, this is what modern pagans and Jews call the astral - the area of spiritual visions and contacts, in which, like nowhere else, the devil abides and dominates with legions of unclean spirits.

Television, press and radio broadcasting, anti-Christian in spirit, corrupting the Russian people today worse than any wine and vodka, have become the main sources of spiritual food for the Russian people. Today, in almost every home, a “blue icon” of the devil is placed in a red corner - a TV, in front of which the population of Russia spends hours on end, as if in a narcotic dream, hypnotized and programmed for self-destruction and extinction.

Through the ether and the astral plane, our houses, apartments, cars were filled with countless legions of demons: spirits of aggression, anger, revenge, shameless passion. People are no longer able to understand how their family and life well-being is broken with the help of thoroughly developed technologies for the destruction of the traditional system of values, ethics, and morality. Few people today are able to connect the disobedience of children, their addiction to alcohol and drugs, the endless divorces of young and middle-aged couples with the presence in their house of a real enemy - a TV, a radio, a tabloid newspaper, skillfully undermining the morality of society, family, through the implanted poison of vulgarity and depravity. a cult of pleasure that leads more and more souls to perdition.

Therefore, today the grace of God, given through the rites of consecration, in particular, through the consecration of our homes, is especially necessary for us to help us protect, consciously protect ourselves from the viruses of sinful temptation and spiritual decay that penetrate our homes.

Will the sanctification of the house alone save us?

St. Theophan the Recluse writes: “All the grace that comes from God through the holy cross, holy icons, holy water, relics, consecrated bread ('artos, antid'or, prosphora) and others, including the most holy communion of the Body and Blood of Christ, has the power only for those who are worthy of this grace through prayers of repentance, repentance, humility, service to people, deeds of mercy and the manifestation of other Christian virtues. But if they are not there, then this grace will not save, it does not act automatically, like a talisman, and is useless for impious and imaginary Christians (without virtues).

The same can be said about the consecration of the dwelling. A house dominated by an empty, idle pastime is like a house with luminous windows during a night raid by enemy aircraft. Modern television, press and radio broadcasting in a completely diabolical way, under the guise of entertainment and pleasure, distance us from our Heavenly Father, from Him in Whose hand is all our earthly life and the life of the next century. Therefore, no sanctification will make sense and will not have a beneficial effect on our lives if, in particular, the demons of television and radio broadcasting reign supreme in the air of our apartments and houses. In moments of misfortune that has befallen us, in order to propitiate the district judge and prosecutor, on whom our fate or the fate of our loved ones who have violated the criminal law depends, we are ready to sacrifice our last money and many others, and in transgressing the law of God, do we really think that if If we continue to irritate the Lord with our unbelief and amusements with demons, then He will be merciful to us? No. The libertine and blasphemer, by his deviation from God and His commandments, commits the most terrible judgment on himself - he remains without God alone with the devil and his servants, who only need his soul, or rather, its fall and death.

Let us remember that the consecration of the house is both its protection from all kinds of disasters, and a blessing for good deeds and for the protection of our home from everything evil that is contrary to God; a blessing so that we do not leave God and try to direct our lives not according to the laws that the enemy of the human race introduces into human life, but according to the Law of God.

The consecration of a new house

The whole world created by God lives and moves according to the Law of God. Therefore, without the blessing and help of God, nothing truly valuable, important, good, useful can be done. The Savior Himself in the Gospel said: “Without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). And the prophet David says: “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain; if the Lord does not guard the city, the watchman watches in vain” (Ps. 126:1).

Our ancestors knew about it. "Without God - not to the threshold," says a Russian proverb. They often prayerfully turned to God, calling for a blessing on every undertaking. Therefore, the dwellings of Christians from ancient times were consecrated with prayer songs and sacred rites.

The Orthodox Church consecrates new houses following the example of the consecration of churches of God. Even at the beginning of the construction of the house, a cross is laid at its foundation, holy icons are installed in the house itself as signs (signs) of the grace-filled presence of the Lord and the saints in a Christian dwelling. In the home of a Christian, the Church allows all types of its services to be performed, with the exception of the Divine Liturgy and the sacrament of the priesthood. She does not forbid bringing into every Christian home, in certain cases, the most holy and all-sanctifying Body and the life-giving Blood of Christ.

How to consecrate the walls of the house with holy water?

For the blessing and consecration of the Christian home and hearth since ancient times, there are special prayer rites. At the beginning of the construction of the house, a small consecration of the water is performed and prayers are read "for the foundation of the house" contained in the Ribbon. The Trebnik also outlines the rite of consecrating a new house. To this rank can be added during the consecration of the house the prayers “for the temple, which is tormented by evil spirits” and the prayer “over the p’eshchyu”. The first prayer, as the name implies, is incantatory in nature, it is used during the consecration of those houses "that endure the intrigues and misfortunes of evil spirits" (New Tablet). The second prayer is read to consecrate the hearth - the most important part of the Christian home, associated with the preparation of the meal.

Before the consecration of a new house, a small water blessing is performed, or a priest comes into the house, bringing holy water with him. A table covered with a clean tablecloth is supplied in advance in the house, a vessel with holy water is placed on it, a small vessel with ordinary, unconsecrated oil (vegetable oil), the Gospel, the cross are relied upon and candles are lit in candlesticks.

On each of the four walls, a cross is depicted in advance - in commemoration of the cover and solid protection, deliverance and preservation by the power of the cross from all evil and misfortune, from enemies visible and invisible.

After the exclamation "Blessed is our God ..." and the usual initial prayers, the 90th psalm "Alive in the help of the Most High ..." is read, in which the Church encourages future residents, saying that they will live in their new home under the roof of the God of heaven and that under the shadow of the Almighty they will not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrows that fly by day. “No evil will happen to you, and the plague will not come near your dwelling,” exclaims the prophet (Ps. 90, 10).

Then a troparion (a short church chant) is sung, which says that once the Savior, having entered the house of Zakh'ey, granted salvation to him and all his household. So now, together with the servants of Christ, the Angels of God enter the new house. The Church asks the Lord to give peace to this house and graciously bless it, saving and enlightening all who are going to live in it.

Turning to the east, the priest says: “Let us pray to the Lord,” “Lord, have mercy,” they answer him, and he reads a prayer close in content to the troparion sung before. He prays to the Savior, who deigned to enter the house of Zacchaeus and granted salvation to his whole house, to bless the newly built dwelling and save those who live in it from all evil, abundantly giving them all the blessings of the Lord for their benefit.

In the next secret prayer (that is, a prayer not read aloud, but to oneself), the priest asks the Lord to grant salvation to the house, as he brought it to the house of Zacchaeus, to bless this house, as he once blessed the house of Lav'an by coming to him Jacob, the house of Pentephria by the coming of Joseph into it, Abedd'ar by the ark brought into his house. (These events are told in the Bible, in the book of Genesis, ch. 30, verses 25-30; ch. 39, verses 1-5 and in 2 Kings, ch. 6, verses 10-12.) He prays to the Savior to send blessings to the future inhabitants of the new house from the height of His dwelling, to protect them with the fear of God, to protect them "from the opposing ones" and to multiply "all good things in this house." At the end of the prayer, the priest proclaims: “Thine is, hedgehog and save us, our God, and we send glory to you, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever, and forever and ever.” Those present respond: "Amen."

In this place of the service, a prayer “over the prayer” can be attached to it. In it, the priest calls for help to protect the hearth from enemies visible and invisible - Angels, the guardians of Christians, and all the saints of God, including the Hieromartyr Cyprian, whom demons once served in the art of magic wiles and who, having believed in Christ, began to rebel against them and overcome them (New Tablet).

Then the priest thrice overshadows the oil with the cross in the name of the Most Holy Trinity and reads a prayer over the oil, in which he asks God to send the Most Holy Spirit on the oil and sanctify it so that it can be a blessing to this place and the house built on this place to drive away “all opposing forces and satanic slander."

After reading the prayer, the priest sprinkles the whole house with holy water (sprinkling each room on all four sides), praying: “By sprinkling the water of this holy place, let all the evil demonic action be put into flight.” Then he crosswise anoints the 4 main walls of the house (in those places where the cross was previously inscribed) with holy oil, saying the words: “This house is blessed by the anointing of this holy oil, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, amen.”

Candles are lit in front of each cross inscribed on the walls, thus honoring the honest life-giving Cross of the Lord, “which is a shield, a weapon against the devil and a sign of victory over him, ... a seal so that the “destroying angel” does not touch us (Ex. 12 , 23) and ... the tree of eternal life (Outline of the Orthodox Faith, 1844, p. 243).

The verse, which the choir sings, contains a prayer to the Lord to bless this house, fulfill its earthly blessings and save its future inhabitants “from every evil situation” and grant them an abundance of heavenly and earthly blessings.

Then the priest reads the Gospel (Luke 19, 1-10), which tells of the Savior's visit to the house of the publican (tax collector) Zakh'ey, who, although he was a sinful man, wanted to see the Lord so much that he climbed a tree . In response to the murmurings of those who said that Jesus had entered the house of a sinful man, Christ said of Zacchaeus and his house: “Today salvation has come to this house, because he, too, is the son of Abraham; for the Son of Man came to seek and save that which was lost.” The Church offers this passage from the Gospel to the inhabitants of the new Christian home, joyfully announcing that now salvation has come to their home and that the Lord always comes to the house to those who yearn to see Him.

Then Psalm 100 is read, which contains instructions on how to behave in a new home. Reflecting on the path of the blameless, King David says: “I will walk in the integrity of my heart in the midst of my house” (Ps. 100, 2).

After reading the psalm, the litany is pronounced. In it, in addition to the usual petitions, there are also petitions for the blessing of the house. All those present pray to the Lord of our life to send a guardian angel, the guardian of the new house, preserving everyone “who wants to live in it piously”, from all evil and instructing them to do virtues, to fulfill the commandments of Christ. They also ask that the Lord save them all from hunger, all kinds of deadly wounds and grant them health and long life.

Sprinkling the house with holy water

According to church tradition, all Orthodox Christians on Epiphany Eve after the great blessing of water sprinkle their homes with Epiphany water while singing or reading the troparion of the holiday:

In the Jordan, I am baptized by You, Lord, / A trioic worship appeared: / For the voice of your parents testified to You, / calling Your beloved Son, / and the Spirit in the form of a dove / proclaiming your verbal affirmation. / Yavl Hey, Christ God, / and the world of enlightenment, glory to Thee.

But at other times it is useful to sprinkle your home with holy water. When sprinkling, the following prayer is read to the honest cross:

Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered, and let those who hate Him flee from His face. As the smoke disappears, let them disappear; as wax melts from the face of fire, so let b'es perish on behalf of those who love God and are marked by the sign of the cross, and in joy they say: Rejoice, most honorable and life-giving Christ of the Lord, drive away demons by the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, crucified on you, who descended into hell and corrected the power of the devil, and gave us His honest Cross to drive away any adversary. O most honorable and life-giving Cross of the Lord! Help me with the Holy Lady Virgin Mother of God and with all the saints forever. Amen.

Psalm 90

1 The living one, with the help of the Most High, will settle in the roof of God of heaven. 2 The Lord speaks: I am my intercessor and my refuge, my God, and I trust in Neg'o. 3 Yako Toy will save you from the net of the l'ovchi, and from the words of the rebellious, Eg'o's truth will be a snake for you. 5 Do not be afraid of the fear of the night, from the arrow, flying in the days, 6 from the thing, in the darkness of the transient, from the dead and the dead. 7 Fall from your country, I am thousands, and the darkness at your right hand, but it will not come near you, 8 more than your eyes, see and reward yanie sinners 'behold. 9 For thou, O Lord, is my hope; You have laid the Highest and your refuge. 10 Evil will not come to you, and r'ana will not approach your body, 11 "as if by an angel of His commandments" about you, keep you in all your ways 'their. 12 In their hands they will disturb you, but not when you stomp on your stone against your leg; 13 on the ‘asp and the basil’isk, nast’ upish, and cross the lion and the snake. covering ‘and, ‘as if knowing’ the name of Mo’e. 15 He will call to Me, and I will hear him, with him seven in sk'orbi, I will change him and glorify him 16 long days I will fulfill him and manifest I em'u the salvation of Mo'e.

The Divine Spirit, through the mouth of the God-father David, reveals in this psalm the greatness of God's deeds. The prophet shows what an abundance of blessings lies in trusting in God. Those who are secretly led by Christ defeat invisible enemies, rulers and authorities, the rulers of the darkness of this world, the spirits of wickedness in high places (see Ephesians 6:12), and the most hated Satan (Chrysostom, Athanasius, Theodoret).

1. The living one, with the help of the Most High, will settle in the roof of God of heaven.
The prophetic spirit pleases the person to whom Christ Himself is help and help. Do you see what boldness the one who fulfills His commandments has towards the Most High? (Athanasius, Hesychius).

2. The Lord speaks: I am my intercessor and my refuge, my God, and I trust in Neg'o.

3. Yako That will deliver you from the net of the l’ovchi, and from the word’e rebellious,

From here, David turns his speech to the believer himself and encourages him: God will deliver you from the network of trickery (secret machinations of opposing forces) and from the word rebellious (offensive) (Theodoret, Athanasius).

4. The splashing of His own will fall on you, and under the wings of Yeg’o you will eat, your ‘truth of Yeg’o will be a weapon.

Krilami calls the action of the Providence of God, using the likeness of birds that cover the chicks with their wings. His truth is Christ God, His weapon is the Cross of Christ. Like chicks under the wing of a kokosh (hen), so the whole world is under the wing of the Lord, He warms everyone and everything - some spiritually, others - with material warmth. And just as a kokosh hears the squeak and sighs of the chicks under it, so the Lord hears secret sighs, our prayers, sees all our needs (Chrysostom, Theodoret, John of Kronstadt).

5. Do not be afraid of the fear of the night, from the arrow flying in the days,

Arrow called some kind of unclean force, "the angel of death" (Athanasius).

6. from the thing, in the darkness of the transient, from the dead and the half-day.

The thing that passes in darkness is every malice that appears where it is not expected; and the midday meeting is a clear and open harm. Note that the midday demon angered David when he fell into adultery after his midday sleep. Other fathers call the spirit of laziness and despondency, which attack at certain hours, like a fever on a sick soul, and upset its fortress, the midday demon. Sryashch - there is every unforeseen event, meeting, attack (Chrysostom, Athanasius, Cassian).

7. Falls from your country, I am thousands, and the darkness at your right hand, will not come near you,

In the highest sense, the psalm indicates that one who lives in the help of God will be attacked from the left side (from the country) by a thousand evil arrows - rage and lust, and from the right (right hand) - by darkness, that is, ten thousand; for many evil forces are striving to destroy what is right in us. The devil, knowing that many do not openly accept sins, begins to fight against them with such things that seem good, but then through them he overthrows them into obvious evil. But the Lord does not cease to save those who love Him (Athanasius, Hesychius).

8. see the retribution of sinners and see the retribution of sinners.

With your eyes you will see the victory over the enemies and their just retribution. The retribution of mental sinners and you yourself will see mentally after a sober prayer. It is she who frees our mind from any material image of evil thoughts and allows it to recognize the suggestions of mental adversaries and feel the benefits of sobriety (Chrysostom, Hesychius).

9. Like you, Lord, my hope; You have laid the Highest and your refuge.

The spirit of the man of God and the spirit of the prophet, answering each other, show how much it is useful to trust in God. Because God cares so much about the faithful, that he completely surrendered himself to the will of God and put all his hope in Him: as You, O Lord, are my hope. For this, - the prophet answers the faithful, - you will be honored with providence from Him, since the Most High has laid your refuge (Athanasius, Theodoret).

10. Evil will not come to you, and r'ana will not approach your body, 11 "as if by an angel of His commandment, save you in all ways" yours.

The prophet encourages the man: not only will disasters not overcome him, but they will not even come close. God, through the Angels, will repel the devil's battles. Be ashamed of the Angels, who are many with us, more than people, and move away from every shameful action. Under the Angels, also understand God-bearing men and priests (priests), who have knowledge of God, protect and guide us in life from temptations, “because the oral hierarchs will keep their mind, and they will seek the law from his mouth, like an angel There is the Lord Almighty” (Mal. 2, 7) (Chrysostom, Theodoret, Nile).

12. On the hands they will enrage you, but not when you stomp on the stone of your foot;

The devil brought these words to Christ, but the Lord, reproving him, said in response: it is written: do not tempt the Lord your God (Deut. 6, 16; Matt. 4, 7), for God promised help vain, or seeking empty glory, but in dire need. Under the stone one can understand every sin and every obstacle to virtue, and under the foot - the soul of a person (Chrysostom, Pelusiot, Athanasius).

13. On the asp and the basil'isk, nast'upish, and cross the lion and the serpent.

In the highest sense, by stepping on poisonous and carnivorous animals, David expressed victory over evil. Whoever tramples on anger tramples on the lion, because the lion is distinguished by rage, and whoever tramples on pleasure and wickedness tramples on the asp, the basilisk, and the dragon, because carnal pleasure and every evil of life is justly compared with reptiles that creep on the earth. By the asp and the basilisk, extreme craftiness is meant, because the asp emits a mortal poison, and the basilisk causes harm with its gaze. By its ferocity, the asp resists all spells. Basilisk (spectacled snake) has fiery eyes and contains poison in the eye - as it is said about envious people. The dragon (boa constrictor) is the largest serpent that swallows people, bulls and oxen, and by its terrible strength depicts the devil (see Apoc. 12, 3, 4). David mentioned these most evil and powerful animals, wanting to show that a person protected by God cannot be harmed by any enemies, visible or invisible. Thousands of those who loved the desert life, by trusting in God, escaped these hostile attacks, living together with the beasts. And the demon is also an asp, a basilisk, a lion and a serpent, because all the harmful actions produced by these animals, and he has in himself (Chrysostom, Theodoret, Gregory of Nyssa, Basil the Great, Athanasius, Cyril, Diodorus).

14. Like I trust in Me, and I will deliver; covering ‘and, ‘as if knowing’ the name of Mo’e.

This is already God speaking, showing the fruit of hope - hope in God. Do not delude yourself, hope in God is preceded by work for God and sweat shed in doing good. Only "the righteous trusts like a lion" (Prov. 28:1). And just as his constant care is consecrated to God, so God repays him. A person who is relaxed and lazy in his work cannot have such hope. Who knows His name? The one who meekly submitted to Him the will of his mind and who is duly submitted to Him, and not the one who only hears Him (Isaac, Theodoret, Chrysostom, Eusebius).

15. He will call to Me, and I will hear him, with him seven in mourning, I will change him and glorify him.

16. For a long time I will fulfill him and show him the salvation of Mo’e.

This is what the Lord says to the righteous. Indeed, what can be greater than that bliss when we have God as our protector in the battle against enemies? For then it is most necessary for Him to be with us when sorrows and calamities surround us. He who listens and is ready to help finds God who calls to Him with a strong spiritual voice. O words full of love! O words that inhale the liveliest hope to those who pray!.. In the most sorrowful, joyless moments, the Lord is with us. But we think that no, that the Lord has left us. A mother cannot completely attract our hearts into her love, but the Lord attracts with holy mysteries and prayer (Athanasius, Isaac, John of Kronstadt).

About the consecration of a dwelling. What is needed for this, when can a house be consecrated? What buildings cannot be consecrated.

Sticker on the walls at the consecration of the dwelling. (Anointed by a priest with consecrated chrism)

The consecration of an apartment was originally performed as a blessing for the construction of a new house, then as a blessing for the entrance to this house. The same applies to the consecration of other things. Sanctifying a machine, a person not only creates some new quality of this machine, but by his act he states that he devotes himself, this machine, his deeds and thoughts to God. Therefore, those people who think that the consecration of a car is enough to ensure that it never gets into an accident, should remember that by consecrating a car, a person is consecrated himself and must correspond to this consecration.

What is consecration?

- Orthodox Christians call sanctification rites through which the blessing of God descends on their lives. According to the teachings of the Church, the basis of various rituals is, first of all, the desire to spiritualize human activity, to perform it with God's blessing. It is important to understand that the consecration of a place begins from the moment when people, entering a house or apartment, begin to live there correctly. And therefore, the consecration of a dwelling by a priest is a confirmation of your desire to live in a consecrated place, the intention to fulfill the Christian commandments, remembering that the family is a small church, and work is a place of labor for the glory of God.

Do I need to dedicate an apartment?

- the consecration of the apartment does not solve our family, everyday problems, it only helps, sets up. A person is free to choose whether he lives with God or acts according to his passions. If a family is trying to live in a Christian way, then both its internal and external dispensation should testify to this. The internal structure is improved and preserved through fasting and prayer, attending divine services, and the external expression of the intention to live piously finds itself, including in the rite of consecrating the dwelling. It must be remembered that the consecration of the house is a common prayer of the family and the priest that people live holy in this place.

When can consecration take place?

- there are a number of points that you need to keep in mind when preparing for the commission of the rank. The rite itself is short (30-60 minutes) - the priest sprinkles the room with holy water, burns incense and calls in prayer to God to start a good deed (the rite of blessing the dwelling). At the same time, not every deed can be considered good. They will not, for example, consecrate a business related to the production or sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco, the banking and credit system (usury), the provision of sexual services, witchcraft and magic. The priest may refuse to perform the ceremony if the premises are not tidied up, and the employees behave inappropriately (swear, for example). In this case, you will probably be advised to “fix the flaws” and return to this issue later.

Those who hang amulets on the walls to consecrate the apartment, talismans - images of demons, with or without horns, sin. Those who call sorcerers to their house do even worse, so that with their sorcery they “cleanse” the room from evil spirits. But this, as the Gospel says, is the same as casting out Satan with Satan or cleansing dirt with mud.

Note that all these ancient sorcerers, sorcerers, magicians, charmers, sorcerers, healers, astrologers, demonologists, fortune tellers now have other names, more cultural or scientific: hypnotists, psychics, traditional healers, ufologists, astrologers, contactees, mediums, spiritualists, theosophists, occultists, conjurers, non-contact masseurs, parapsychologists, psychotherapists, telepaths, telekinesists, fortune tellers on computers, telehealers, etc. Now they no longer just conjure, but charge water. Not just tell fortunes, but make passes. Satanism is covered by science. Sorcerers now have specialist diplomas. Felkillers have become intellectuals. But from the change of the sign, their essence has not changed. These are wolves in sheep's clothing, from which you need to move away, even if they use Christian symbols, gospel words, the sign of the cross or the name of God in their sessions.

Is it possible to call “brownies”, let a cat into a new home?

Some, when moving to a new apartment, resort to pagan superstitions: they call their “brownie”, “owner” with them. You can't do this. You are calling evil spirits on your head. Others succumb to another misconception: supposedly, in order to “consecrate” a new house, they first let a cat into it. Blowing out candles with verdicts like: “..so that all the bad things that happened before also go out and never come back” - are pagan magics, and are not allowed. If a person has done all this, he must repent at confession for this, and never again do this.

What to do if there is an evil spirit in the house?

- First of all, try to find the reason for its appearance in yourself. Confession and communion help to get rid of unclean spirits. But there is also a special prayer for this "For the temple, chilled by evil spirits." We do not advise you to read it yourself, this is the business of the priest. And if the priest does not undertake to expel evil spirits, turn to a hieromonk or an elder, do not lose hope, because the Gospel says: "the seeker will find." Know that evil spirits or demons now have a different name: "UFO" (unidentified flying objects), "AJ" (anomalous phenomena), "poltergeist". Poltergeists are devilish miracles (the most common occurrence in homes). In the diary of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, a Russian poet, there is a documentary record of such a “miracle” that happened in his time. In one house, furniture, chairs and tables began to jump and move by themselves. This is how evil spirits mock. The police couldn't help. This phenomenon stopped only after the Orthodox priest served a prayer service in the house. And in our days, how many different phenomena of “invisible drums” are described that knock, beat their owners, drop refrigerators on the floor silently, light wallpaper without fire, pour water from a wall in which there is no pipe, no water, etc. I must say, that no one is safe from this demonism. But most often it happens to non-Christians, pagans in their way of life, to unbelievers, so that they change their minds at least a little: if there are demons, then, probably, there are both angels and God. And, of course, there are habitats for both, hell and heaven. It is a pity that for many this experience is sad.

What is required for consecration?

- for the consecration of the apartment, it is desirable that the apartment be tidied up, the repair is completed. In the church shop you need to purchase 4 stickers with the image of a cross and 4 of the smallest candles. At home, you need to prepare a small table on which the priest can place the sacred objects necessary for consecration (usually installed in the best place), a clean bowl for St. water (salad bowl, vase, etc.), about a glass of vegetable oil (sveli), sv. The priest brings water with him. It is imperative that the one who ordered the consecration of the dwelling be present at this rite and participate in prayer. It is also allowed, with due desire and ability, with the blessing of the priest, to read some prayers during the performance of the rite. During the consecration, it is necessary to temporarily turn off the phones, do not talk during prayer.

Is it necessary to fast before consecration, to take communion?

- A Christian must, all the days of his life, fast, pray and take communion as our holy Church commands.

Should a woman cover her head?

- yes, it is desirable. A woman should cover her head while praying.

Does the dinner table need to be set?

- among many Orthodox there is such a good tradition after consecration to set the table, tea drinking, because the priest who came to the house for the celebration of consecration symbolizes Christ. If you feel such a need, prepare a festive table in advance in honor of the consecration of your home. Perhaps getting to know and communicating with a priest will help you in the future.

How to sanctify an apartment yourself?

- no way. The rite of blessing the dwelling is performed only by an Orthodox priest who is not prohibited from serving.

What to do after consecration?

- A Christian should strive for holiness. That is why, after the consecration of housing, it is forbidden to smoke, swear or do other sins in it. Otherwise, what was the purpose of consecrating then? After all, the second time the apartment is not consecrated (except in cases of death of someone in the apartment or repairs). But if sins happen, for this the Church has given you the right (and obligation) to sanctify your house yourself in humility and repentance. To do this, sprinkle all the premises with holy water with the prayer "In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit" or "The Grace of the Holy Spirit." Remember that the water must be blessed by an Orthodox priest, and not taken from the so-called "holy springs" (because not all of them are really holy). Do not confuse blessed water with "healing" or "charged with energy." Sprinkle with a brush from the rosary or a handful, crosswise (the priest does this with a hyssop sprinkler). You need to store consecrated water in a red corner (it can stand for years and decades and not deteriorate), in the same place as the icons, and not in a kitchen or bookcase. Do not allow children to play with the shrine, with spiritual books, with prosphora, icons, crosses. Self-consecration (sprinkling with holy water) is performed only AFTER personal full consecration by the priest himself, because. mere sprinkling cannot in any way replace the rite of consecration itself.

Coal after consecration is poured into a place that is not trampled underfoot, for example, in bushes or under a tree. They drink holy water with reverence, consecrated oil - they smear sore spots with prayer, add it to food.

What places can not be consecrated?

The Church does not have a list of things that cannot be consecrated. But, proceeding from the very meaning of consecration, it is impossible to consecrate those things that subsequently cannot be used for a good purpose. You can not consecrate institutions in which they indulge in vice. This ban also existed in pre-revolutionary Russia. Also, some clergy believe that the consecration of places of detention, places where a person suffers, is a theological problem. Although nothing prevents us from creating temples in these places of deprivation of liberty.

While refusing to bless the places of execution and torture, the Church nonetheless sanctifies weapons. A weapon is a thing that can be used for both evil and good purposes. Consecrating weapons, the Church has never blessed aggression, violence for the sake of violence, murder for the sake of murder. The Church blesses the soldiers for the feat of arms to defend their homeland, and, above all, to defend the faith. According to the canonical rules of the Church, a warrior who killed even in a just war had to confess this and suffer one or another penance, despite the fact that the Church herself blessed the warrior for this feat.

Weapons are not inherently bad things. It all depends on whose hands the weapon is in. If a weapon is in the hands of a Christian who defends shrines and his homeland, then it is used for good, and if in the hands of a terrorist, then for evil. The Church does not consecrate weapons as such, but only in the hands of a warrior fighting for justice.

The consecration of housing is a fertile rite that must be performed by a believer. This is the most reliable protection against bad and unfavorable energy. The Lord directs His grace, calling a person to take a step towards him.

We consecrate housing

It is customary to consecrate a house or apartment after its construction, after moving, after the completion of repairs, or, if some unfavorable events have occurred, for example, a robbery, violence, murder, or some other evil.

In the event that the desecration of the home has occurred, invite a priest, and he will carry out the consecration procedure, call on the grace of the Holy Spirit, and the Lord will visit you and your family again.

How to consecrate housing with the help of the Father

It is believed that only a servant of the Lord God can conduct the ceremony correctly. All priests passed the sacrament of the Priesthood and are endowed with divine rights, allowing for church ceremonies. But before inviting the Father, a believer needs to prepare:

Before starting, the priest puts an image of a cross on each of the four walls. During the sacrament, he reads the Gospel, anoints the crosses with oil, and sprinkles the whole room with holy water. At the end, a sermon is read to all those present.

You can carry out the ritual of consecration on any day, when it is convenient for you and Batiushka, the duration of the rite is 30-60 minutes.

If you want to make a donation in gratitude, then in the nearest temple you can find out the generally accepted size of the sacrifice or make a contribution according to your capabilities.

The presence of a clergyman in your home is a great blessing!

When he enters the house, ask for a blessing, and at the end of the ceremony, talk in a calm atmosphere on spiritual topics, ask questions, ask for help in solving internal problems.

After consecration, it is advisable to give up gambling, smoking, drinking alcohol, scandals and the like. And it is better to pray regularly, light candles, listen to church music and read spiritual literature.

The church also advises regularly sprinkling rooms with holy water invoking the name of the Lord in order to keep the home clean.

Cleaning an apartment with a church candle and holy water: how to sanctify yourself

If it is not possible to invite a priest to the house, you can try to do the ritual of consecration with holy water on your own. In order for everything to succeed, it is necessary to go to church the day before and receive a blessing. You can conduct the ceremony yourself. For the ceremony you will need:

  • prayer book;
  • icons;
  • bowl with holy water.

If you do not have something from this list, you need to buy it in a church shop.

You need to start from the red corner - this is the corner in the main room, located diagonally from the entrance, according to the rules, the iconostasis should be located there. If there is no iconostasis, place at least one icon there.

The bowl of holy water must be taken in the left hand, and with the right hand with the words: “In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen, sprinkle water on the corner crosswise and move on, going around all the rooms in a clockwise direction and sprinkle the walls, ceilings and all corners.

Then in the same way go around the kitchen, hallway. In the bathroom, sprinkle only the walls, nothing can be done in the toilet.

At the same time, the following prayers are read:

Before the start - Prayer for the blessing of the cause, during - “Our Father”, “May God rise again” or Psalm 90, you can still read “May God rise again ...”,

After going around all the rooms, read the prayer to the Life-Giving Cross and Prayers of Thanksgiving.

Pay attention to the following:

If all this is present in people's lives, then it will be easier for them to keep clean not only their homes, but also their hearts and souls.

Prayers that are read during the consecration

“In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, by sprinkling this sacred water to flee, may every crafty demonic action be turned, amen.”

Heavenly King, Comforter, Soul of Truth, Who is everywhere and fills everything, Treasury of the good and Giver of life, come and dwell in us, and cleanse us from all filth, and save, O Blessed, our souls.

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (3 times with bows)

Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

Our Father, Who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth. Give us our daily bread today; And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen

Creator and Creator of all kinds, O God, of the work of our hands, beginning to Your glory, hastily correct with Your blessing, and deliver us from all evil, as the only omnipotent and philanthropist. Quick to intercede and strong to help, present yourself to the grace of Your strength now, and having blessed, strengthen, and to accomplish the intention of the good deed of Your servants, do it: all the more you want, like a Strong God, you can do. Amen.

Prayer to the Life-Giving Cross

Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered, and let all who hate Him flee from His presence. As the smoke disappears, let them disappear; as wax melts from the face of fire, so let the demons perish from the face of those who love God and are marked by the sign of the cross, and say in joy: Rejoice, Most Honorable and Life-giving Cross of the Lord, drive away the demons with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, crucified on you, who descended into hell and corrected his strength the devil, and who gave us His Honorable Cross to drive away every adversary. O Most Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord! Help me with the Holy Lady Virgin Mother of God and with all the saints forever. Amen.

If a person has consecrated his place of residence, this does not mean that all problems have been solved, he has been freed from sins, and this is for a long time. No, we are all sinful people and sometimes, without even thinking, we do not the right things. But in the house where the walls are sprinkled with holy water and cleansed by the fire of a church candle, one even breathes easier, and those who live in it get sick less and live more friendly. After all, after conducting such a ritual, you become closer to God and entrust him with your shelter to preserve peace and tranquility in it.

Consecrate an apartment: 7 possible reasons why you shouldn't do it. Here's how! I didn’t even know about some of the reasons for the refusal! The first option, in my opinion, is even a little strange and probably controversial! Never would have thought of that! The consecration of the house is a special rite with which you can change your life for the better and protect yourself from negativity. However, there are reasons why this should not be done.

Consecrate an apartment: We often hear that a house not consecrated by a priest is the dwelling of the devil, but is that so? After all, there are reasons why, due to circumstances, this ritual cannot be performed. Opinions are divided on this.

However, all the clergy are unanimous in their opinion that where there is no proper faith, neither consecration, nor icons, nor church candles will help. Therefore, before contemplating the consecration of your home, discuss your decision with your household and be sure to take into account their opinion on this matter.

Consecrate an apartment: 7 reasons why you shouldn’t consecrate your home

The first reason is a dog in the house.

Many priests consider the premises in which the dog lives unclean, and refuse to bless the house. This is due to the belief that the dog disturbs the balance of energy and defiles shrines and icons located in the house.

Many believe that it is useless to consecrate such premises, because the dog will not go anywhere, and with its presence it negates all the efforts made.

The second reason is things with heavy energy.

Any object carries information. It accumulates over the years and can be both positive and negative. But there are some things that cannot be thrown away - it can be some kind of memorable item that is dear to a person.

It is unlikely that he will want to part with him, and most often he simply gives up on all persuasions. Sanctification is getting rid of negative information and, as it were, rewriting all energy.

But if you have very old things, then it is almost impossible to delete information from them. That is why the house should not be consecrated as long as such things are in it.

The third reason is unbaptized households.

A house consecrated by a priest will not bring you closer to religion and will not give you any protection if you do not believe in what is happening. Especially if there is a person in the house who is not a supporter of Orthodoxy.

In such cases, the consecration ritual should not be performed out of respect for the Orthodox religion and its canons.

The fourth reason is the disagreement of one of the household members.

The consecration of the premises is a purely voluntary thing and is performed only with the voluntary consent of all those living in the house. If someone refuses such a ceremony, citing various reasons, it is worth delaying the consecration. After all, disbelief and rejection of this action will not bring happiness or comfort to the rest of the family.

The fifth reason is the dead person in the house.

It is believed that the rite of consecration cannot be performed if a person has died in the house and forty days have not passed since his death. The rite should be performed only after the soul goes to Heaven and there appears before the Supreme Court.

The sixth reason is the presence in the house of representatives of another religion or another cult.

If in the house, in addition to the Orthodox, there are people who worship other Gods, then the ritual should definitely not be carried out.

The conflict of religions can become a stumbling block and provoke discord in the family. Therefore, you should discuss in advance with your household the benefits of conducting the rite of consecration.

The seventh reason is people who practice magic.

If there are those in your house who use non-Christian rites, and also predict the future, guess on the cards and try in every possible way to change their fate, then consecration is unlikely to lead to happiness.

All priests oppose such activities because only God is pleased to lead us on a dear life, and life is given in order to live it righteously, without using tricks and rituals.
