How to assemble an accordion door instruction. Accordion door - installation principles and step-by-step assembly instructions

Instructions on how to install an accordion door are of interest to people who decide to mount this popular design in their home. We will talk about the intricacies of installing such products with our own hands.

Such doors are classified as folding. Their canvas consists of several elements. When opened, it folds up and moves to the slope of the doorway along a special rail. When folded, the accordion takes up space (very little) in the opening, but it does not need additional space either on the wall or in the room. Similar are optimal for rooms with small footage. They are considered truly economical, and most importantly - simple and understandable to install with your own hands.

The panels of the doors in question are made of different materials. Harmonicas are made of leather, bamboo, mirrors and glass, chipboard and MDF. Less often, natural veneer and solid wood are used as elements of such door structures, which is associated with a relatively large mass of these materials. Composite "pieces" of the doors described are made from 10–12 cm panels, which are connected to each other with hinges. When using leather or fabric, the loops are replaced with lamellas. Their connection into a single structure is carried out by means of fabric inserts that are small in terms of rigidity.

Accordion doors from MDF

In one sash there may be a different number of panels. It all depends on the width of the doorway and the width of the individual element. In residential buildings and apartments, as a rule, single-leaf structures are installed, in public buildings - double-leaf structures. You can change the width of the door at any time with your own hands by adding or removing the required number of panels.

The sash in accordions moves along the guide. It can be mounted at the bottom of the opening or at the top. The first option for the location of the guide is recognized as more reliable. But when placing it at the top, you can forget about the need to equip the threshold. In this case, it simply does not exist.

The correct movement and folding of the door is ensured by stoppers and fixing elements. They are mounted on hinges. Clamps and locking products are usually made of aluminum or steel. Such elements are very reliable and durable.

Structurally described products do not have a door frame. They are fixed, as you understand, in the ceiling or in the opening. If necessary, you can make platbands and racks for an accordion door with your own hands and mount them without difficulty. The main advantages of such structures include:

  • ease of installation with your own hands;
  • compactness - a 60-centimeter doorway is enough for mounting an accordion;
  • the ability to reduce or increase the width of the product in a matter of minutes.

All these "advantages" of folding doors determined the main scope of their use. Such designs are ideal for cramped hallways in city apartments, narrow corridors in residential buildings and similar premises. Often accordions are installed in bathrooms and kitchens. It is important to choose the right material from which the door panels are made. In this case, it is desirable to choose products made of glass or plastic. They are not afraid of steam and moisture.

Installing an accordion in the kitchen

For other rooms, you can purchase accordion doors from any materials. There are no restrictions. Also, the designs we are considering are often used as modern and elegant interior partitions. The accordion door is ideal for zoning large rooms. Moreover, at any time you have the opportunity to remove the sash to the door, if there is no need to divide the room into separate zones.

Accordions are most often installed to separate: a dressing niche from the main room; balcony combined view from the hall. Silent and lightweight folding doors are designed for such do-it-yourself zoning options for living quarters.

How to independently assemble and mount the door?

First you need to prepare an opening for installing a door structure. Dismantle the old box, carefully clean all gaps from debris, seal them with leveling mortars, and then carefully putty. After that, you need to measure the width and height of the doorway and level the floor. It must be absolutely even, since only in this case is guaranteed smooth and completely silent sliding of the doors during their operation.

Now we can assemble and install the structure of interest to us with our own hands, guided by the diagram below:

  1. Mount and secure the upper rail in the doorway. You may need to make new holes for the fasteners and cut off the extra centimeters of the accordion if its width is greater than the width of the opening. It is not difficult to shorten a steel or aluminum rail (if necessary) by cutting it to the required length with a hacksaw.
  2. You decide in which direction our door will fold. On the opposite side, mount a latch into which you will need to insert the axis of the panel, called the lock. Also at this stage, it is necessary to insert a special door slider into the groove of the guide.
  3. Attach the top axle to the panel mentioned above. Do the same with the bottom axle. At this stage of assembling the door, it is important to achieve absolute verticality of the structure (keep handy).
  4. Install the receiving plate at the bottom of the opening.
  5. Mount axes on every second panel in a row. Sometimes manufacturers of accordion doors do not make holes for these purposes on the accordion elements, you will have to drill them with a drill yourself.
  6. Place the panels in the desired sequence (as they will be installed in the finished door) and put the points where you put the hinges. They need to be mounted at the same distance from each other in three pieces.
  7. You connect all the panels into a common structure, leaving a 3 mm gap between the individual elements.
  8. Place the door handle on the lock panel.

Now you just need to lift the assembled canvas and insert metal axles into the landing plates. The accordion door is ready! If you want, you can install extensions and platbands. But remember that in most cases these elements are not included as standard with a folding door structure. They need to be purchased separately.

Currently, among the interior doors, interior sliding accordion doors are of considerable popularity. They have many advantages and can compete on equal terms with other species. First of all, such doors take up little space, which is very beneficial for small rooms.

In addition, they have a beautiful and original design, which is important for any apartment. The main material from which accordion doors are made is MDF and plastic.

Advantages and disadvantages of plastic accordion doors

Each material has its pros and cons, and when buying, you need to carefully analyze them. To begin with, both of these types are a special element of the design of your room and can be done in a wide variety of styles.

If you decide to install plastic doors, then you should know that they are perfectly washable and are not susceptible to any damage. In addition, they have a very long service life and therefore, having installed such doors, you can safely forget about them. These accordion doors are lightweight, so they do not look very monolithic. But it seems only at first sight. In fact, doors are now being produced with a special and carefully calculated system of stiffeners, which allow such structures to be installed as firmly as possible.

The low weight of the plastic makes it easier to install, which can be handled even without a partner. In addition, inaccuracies that occur during the installation of plastic doors are eliminated much easier. Therefore, the main disadvantages include a lower level of sound insulation and, nevertheless, they are slightly less stable than wooden doors.

Advantages and disadvantages of accordion doors made of wood

Basically, wooden doors are made from MDF (medium density fibreboard). The main advantages of this type of doors are high sound insulation and stability, due to the massiveness of the material. But the high weight of MDF boards brings some inconvenience during their installation.

Note!

It is necessary to mark and set the levels more scrupulously due to the fact that it will be quite problematic to correct possible flaws after installation.

In addition, it is necessary to fix wooden doors more carefully due to the large weight.

Preliminary preparation for self-installation

When buying, you need to know that installing an accordion door with your own hands does not seem like an impossible task. To do this, first of all, you need to read the theoretical material and watch the video instruction. When purchasing doors, you will be provided with all the required spare parts and, possibly, additional material to increase the width of the doors. In addition, you need to purchase the parts necessary to equip the opening, these are, first of all, trims of the required thickness so that they can withstand the weight of the door and additional loads that arise during operation.

Required Tool

If you yourself decide to install accordion folding doors, then you will need the following tools:

  1. and . A drill is needed, most likely, a hammer drill, and a puncher will come in handy if you decide to expand the doorway.
  2. Plummet and, best of all bubble type, for greater accuracy.
  3. Meter and building corner for accurate measurements and correct marking.
  4. Hacksaw and miter box (carpentry tool for cutting boards, has the appearance of a tray).
  5. Wooden bars.
  6. Mounting foam.

Preparing the doorway

Before you start installing the doors, you need to prepare the doorway. You can, of course, leave the width of the opening as it is. Then the task becomes much easier. But if you decide to enlarge the opening to expand the usable area, then you will need to completely remove the old door frame and knock down the solution to the concrete wall and after that, install the box. To do this, measure the width of the opening and the door.

After that, we will already see whether it is necessary to increase the opening a little more or, on the contrary, to reduce its width with the help of an extension and a beam. Then we make a box from prepared extensions. After that, we insert the resulting box into the opening and fix it. We put the upper part on self-tapping screws and at least two anchors, and the side ones on anchors, three on each side. We blow out the gaps between the extensions and the wall with mounting foam.

Installing rails on the door leaf

After installing the box, we proceed to the installation of the guides. First of all, you need to take measurements and cut off excess pieces. This must be done very carefully and for this purpose, use the wort.

Then we make holes for self-tapping screws with a diameter of 3 mm. On the top rail they should be at a distance of 6-7 cm from each other, and on the side rails, the pitch should be approximately 20 cm. , you can limit yourself to five clips, evenly spaced along the entire length.

Door leaf installation

If you install interior sliding doors with your own hands, then you need to know that the next operation after installing the rails is to install the door leaf. The strips that make up the door must be cut correctly. To do this, you need to take into account the distance for the installation of rollers and the gap under the door. Its width should be approximately one centimeter.

Installation must be carried out strictly according to the instructions, since each manufacturer has its own nuances that must be taken into account. The assembly of a plastic door leaf is somewhat different from MDF. Plastic sheets are usually assembled using grooves or additional spacers, while wooden doors are assembled using a long axis. The assembly of the door is completed by placing the rollers.

Final work

After installing the door leaf, you need to install handles and other fittings. Accordion door fittings are usually sold complete with doors and are also installed according to the enclosed instructions. After that, we insert the door into the guides and fold it so that it is located in the central part. In this position, it will be easiest for you to fix the guides in the doorway.

Note!

If clips are used in the door, then the guides snap onto them, and if self-tapping screws, then they are twisted along the edges with the step indicated above.

Platband installation

Now we must install the side profiles and fix the blind part of the interior doors to the required profile. After checking the quality of the door leaf, we begin the installation of platbands. They are fixed along the entire length of the doorway. But first you need to cut them to the desired length, using a hacksaw and wort.

If you are limited in space when planning the interior of your home, you will probably be interested in learning how to install an accordion door with your own hands. Such interior partitions are cheaper than the compartment option, but at the same time they also save space. In addition, if you deal with the details of the design, all the work can be done independently, without resorting to the help of specialists.

For self-assembly of an accordion door, you need to understand all the details

Design features

Before deciding to install an accordion door with your own hands, you need to take a closer look at the features of its design. It is fundamentally different from the usual swing door, but at the same time it is somewhat similar to sliding interior compartment doors. A distinctive feature of the accordion is that its canvas consists of several parts and folds when the door is closed.

The main constituent elements of the structure:

  • persistent tires;
  • guide rail;
  • canvas plates;
  • guide slider;
  • corner sliders;
  • lock bar;
  • clips;
  • motion lock;
  • elastic connecting elements;
  • decorative overlays on adhesive tape;
  • pen.

In homemade products, the lamellas are connected by hinges.

Advantages and disadvantages

What are the advantages of such interior doors? We can distinguish the following advantages of the design according to the type of accordion:

  • visually does not burden the space;
  • a wide range of models and a variety of materials used;
  • allows you to save space, since no space is required to open the door, it moves along the opening along the sliding system with sliders;
  • ease of construction due to the use of thin plates of lightweight materials;
  • simple installation - since it is quite easy to assemble an accordion door and install it, you can do all the work yourself.

However, in addition to the obvious advantages, accordion-type doors have several disadvantages. Firstly, they do not provide proper heat and sound insulation. Secondly, at its core, this is a rather flimsy design. With rough handling and poor-quality installation, its parts can quickly fail. In addition, not everyone likes a similar appearance of the opening. Therefore, before buying a door, weigh the pros and cons.

Accordion doors save space

Preparing for installation

Before you install the accordion door, you need to carry out a number of preparatory work. First you need to completely prepare the doorway. Remove the old interior doors along with the box. Level the slopes and plaster them. Since the installation of an accordion door involves fastening the guide and support strips, you need to bring the level and make the surface as even as possible.

Before you make a door or go to the store to buy it, you need to take measurements from the opening. Be sure to measure its width and height.

Please note: an accordion door may have a different number of plates. If you like a particular model, but it is too wide for your opening, you can simply not install one of its plates.

If you are doing the installation of accordion doors with your own hands, you will need the following tools:

  • screwdriver;
  • roulette;
  • hacksaw;
  • lubricant (usually included).

How to do everything on your own to avoid mistakes? The work is carried out in several stages: assembly of plates, boxes and hanging the door.

Before installation, it is necessary to fix the roller guide in the upper part of the doorway

How to assemble an accordion door

The door-accordion can be bought ready-made in disassembled form. In this case, assembly and installation instructions must be attached to the product. The alternative is to do it yourself. This will allow you to realize any idea. You can use the following materials:

  • plastic;
  • laminate;
  • glass;

Of course, a wide range and different price categories allow you to take a simpler path and purchase a finished product. In this case, you can save money by doing the assembly and installation yourself.

Often MDF is used to make accordion doors.

Accordion doors: instructions for assembling and mounting plates:

  1. Measure the height of the doorway. If necessary, trim all vertical parts of the structure. Check the width measurements.
  2. Glue decorative trims to the cut bottom of the door.
  3. Next, attach the guide slider to the locking bar with screws.
  4. Install the corner sliders along the edge of the plates.
  5. Connect the plates in such a way that they pass through the connecting elements. Secure the latter with screws.

After you managed to assemble the accordion door, you can proceed to the next installation step.

The rollers are attached to the top of the door leaf sequentially through one panel.

Installation

Do-it-yourself installation of an accordion door begins with determining the position of the motion limiter. To do this, it is necessary to fold the product completely, measure its width and drill a hole in the guide at an appropriate distance. The next step is to install the box. It consists of top rail and side rails.

Properly installed accordion door looks very presentable

Accordion interior doors: how to install with your own hands, step by step instructions:

  1. Attach the top rail to the wall in the opening and mark its position.
  2. Then, at a distance corresponding to the center of the bar, make marks for the mounting clips. They are needed in order to assemble the box.
  3. Drill the required number of holes. Along the edges, you need to place one clip at a distance of 1 cm from the wall, and after 5-7 cm - one more. Then increase the step to 15-16 cm. Keep a straight line.
  4. Next is the installation of the side clips. Near the thrust bar, the distance between the fastening elements is observed in increments of 30-40 cm.
  5. From the side of the lock bar, smaller clips are attached at a distance of 70 and 100 cm.
  6. In order to install the door in the opening, slide the sliders into the groove of the guide, lubricating them in advance to ensure easy movement of the plates.
  7. Install the guide on the clips.
  8. Attach the edge of the door to the side clips.
  9. Also install the lock bar in the opening in a similar way.
  10. Attach a handle to the door.

This is how easy it is to install a folding accordion door. Of course, this is a very convenient thing, but do not forget that you need to use it carefully in order to extend the life of the structure.

We will install an accordion door and talk about how you can do it yourself and what problems may arise during the installation process.

After unpacking, before proceeding with the assembly and installation of the door, it is necessary to check the presence of all components and parts. Their number depends on the kit itself and on what size the door should be.

Also be sure to check the quality of the parts. Often they have scratches and other damage that may occur during transportation. If the quality suits you, feel free to proceed with the assembly and installation. We will consider the assembly of the door, the assembled dimensions of which should be 83 by 204 cm. We will also consider any problems that may arise during installation.

Opening preparation

So, first of all, you need to prepare the opening. We will do this with the help of additional strips.

Given the size of the door and the thickness of the extensions, we can easily calculate the size of the opening we need.

So, here are our calculations: 83 + 2 + 2 = 87 cm. Here 83 is the width of the accordion door itself, 2 is the thickness of two additional strips of 1 cm, then the next deuce is 1 cm distance between the extension and the wall on each side for foaming. As a result, we get 87 cm - our opening should be 87 cm wide. After we figured out the dimensions, we proceed to prepare the opening. On the one hand, we need to remove all the remnants of the plaster. We do this with a perforator.

Perhaps your opening will already be cleared. Accordingly, here you see an already cleared opening:

This size is required for installation. We mark these 87 cm in the direction we want to expand, and draw a line along the level along the entire height.

Next, we proceed to expand the opening according to the resulting size. This can be done in various ways. For example, cut off part of the wall with a grinder or expand with a perforator. We choose the latter method, that is, expansion with a perforator, in order to have as little dust as possible in the process of work - the apartment in which the installation took place was already residential. With this option, along the line that we drew, it is necessary to make through holes with a drill with a puncher.

We make holes along the entire length approximately every 3-4 cm and beat off the brick already from these holes with a perforator using a spatula.

So, the opening for refining is ready.

Assembling a structure from additional planks

We proceed to the assembly of the structure from additional slats.

First, we cut off the uneven part of each extension.

We need the top bar 85 cm long, therefore, having cut it with a jigsaw, we measure 85 cm from the flat end and cut it too.

The size of the side strips can be found as follows. We take the height of the opening, in our case it is 207 cm, and subtract 2 cm from it - 1 cm for the thickness of the extension and 1 cm for foaming. After all the cuts, we begin to assemble the structure itself. To do this, we measure 0.5 cm from each edge of the upper extension, draw a line for convenience and drill 2 holes with a diameter of 3 mm at this distance at an arbitrary distance from each other.

After that, we lean the side extensions to the top one so that the edge of the side one goes along the cut of the upper extension:

Further, holding the structure in this position, we drill the side strips through the prepared holes and wrap self-tapping screws about 3 by 50 mm in size. You should get a U-shaped design, ready for installation.

We try it in the opening. If done correctly, it fits easily.

We make holes in the side strips:

They need to be drilled at the same distance from each other along the entire length and exactly in the middle in width. In our case, the extensions were 15 cm, which means that the middle of the extension is 7.5 cm.

The length of the bar is 205 cm. We retreat from below 10 cm and divide it into 5 parts. It turns out that the holes will go every 39 cm. The holes themselves can be different. It depends on what fasteners you are using. For example, you can make holes by 3 mm and pot by 8.5 mm and secure with a dowel-"hedgehog" and a wood screw - a dowel-"hedgehog" and through the bar a self-tapping wood screw. You can simply use a dowel-nail, as in our case.

But in the case of a dowel-nail, it is necessary to make a hole already 6 mm and sweat 10 mm.

When attaching the additional plank to the wall, one should not forget that everything must be done exclusively according to the level.

(figure 28)
Remember to check the level even after you have already secured the bar to make sure nothing has moved. When leveling, be sure to leave a distance for foaming between the extension and the wall. To do this, you can use wooden blocks as a gasket.

Depending on the evenness of the wall, respectively, the bars are different. After we put the structure in the opening, you can start foaming.

Foaming is done from the bottom up on both sides.

Door assembly

While the foam hardens, we will begin to assemble the door itself.

First of all, we saw off the required length of the side guide profile and the horizontal rail, which in principle is the same thing. The difference is only in the use of the sides. So we need to measure the horizontal rail with a length of 83 cm, and the guide profile, together with the rail docked to it, measure 205 cm, that is, along the length of the additional strip.

All this, of course, needs to be cut.

After that, we collect together the panels.

The sequence is as follows: we attach a narrow panel to the finish panel. Here is the finish and narrow panel:

After that comes the hinged profile:

We connect the panels, and here comes a small hinged profile, which continues to alternate with wide profiles:

Now comes the wide profile. Here is the finish, narrow, articulated and wide profile:

This is completed by the launch pad:

And at the end of the guide docking profile. This is how it attaches:

And this is how it all looks:

Now you need to fasten everything together. For this purpose, we put a cap on the hinged profile and fasten it with a short screw from the kit. It all happens like this:

Here the profile is put on, wrapped, this is how it looks in its finished form:

This procedure must be repeated with each profile, both from the bottom and from the top edge of the resulting canvas. Next come the videos.

We screw them to the finish panel and to the middle of the upper end of each wide panel with long screws, exactly in the middle. This is what it looks like when completed:

Installation of the door in the opening

After that, we proceed to the installation of the door in the opening. First, we will prepare the horizontal rail.

It is necessary to make four 3 mm holes in it and through them, leaning the rail against the intended attachment point, drill an additional bar.

After that, folding the door into an accordion, we put it on the rail, without attaching anything yet.

Door hung:

Let's move on to the guide profiles. They also need to be drilled in four places with a 3 mm drill at equal distances from each other. It is very important. We make holes in the dobors in the same way.

This is how it looks like:

After that, we connect the canvas with the guide profile using the docking profile, which is already sitting on the canvas itself.

It is very flexible and fastens with a latch. Here it is already clicked:

Installing handles

For a complete picture, you need to install handles.

They are installed in holes already prepared by the factory and fastened to each other through the panel using ties:

Here are the holes:

We dress the handles on both sides and wrap:

After that, it is necessary to close the door and make a mark from the latch on the guide profile. Here is this guide profile, and from this latch, which is slightly visible on the side, we make marks with a pencil:

According to them, it will be necessary to fasten the striker for the latch to the profile and check its performance.

Everything should be latched.

Installation of platbands

The last thing to do is cash out. But before that, you still have to cut off the frozen foam. A mark for cutting the cashier must be made along the edge of the additional lath.

It is important here not to randomly confuse the angle of the washed down. In the same way, we cut the right bar:

It is better to start with the side planks. You can saw them off both with a miter saw and with a hacksaw with a miter box:

We bait the casing with the help of finishing nails.

It is necessary to take into account: if the thickness of the additional plank is 1 cm, it is necessary to hammer the finishing nail by 0.5 cm so that the nail goes exactly into the middle of the additional plank. Thus, we nail the platbands to the additional slats.

It is more convenient to first fasten the side trim and only then the top ones. This is how it should turn out:

After we repeat the procedure on the reverse side, the installation of the accordion door, as well as the accompanying cladding of the opening, will be completed. This is what the finished door looks like:

Unfortunately, the additional plank with the casing is slightly different in color, because it was not possible to match the color. This is how the finished door looks like:

You can see that the plaster is slightly damaged after expansion - it will need to be plastered. Ignore the apparent curvature of the door - it's all about the lens. In fact, everything is done smoothly, otherwise the door would simply not close.

Sections of the article:

It is very pleasant to be able to show guests your apartment or house and proudly declare that any item from the interior was made or installed independently. Undoubtedly, a job well done inspires and fills with well-deserved pride. However, wanting to install a folding door in their home, many are afraid to take on such, at first glance, difficult work. However, detailed information on how to install an accordion door will help even a person who is little familiar with carpentry to do all the work with high quality. The main conditions for this are perseverance and attentiveness.

Manufacturing materials and design

Not so long ago, an accordion door was considered an attribute of small-sized doorways. However, thanks to the efforts of designers, this design not only allows you to significantly save housing space, but is also a worthy element of the interior, and sometimes even its decoration. So in the market of door designs, accordion doors can have the widest range of colors and design styles. In addition, various materials can be used in the creation process, the main of which are MDF sheets or plastic.

Installing an accordion door made of natural wood is a fairly rare occurrence. This fact is explained by the significant weight of the wooden structure, which the fastener elements cannot always withstand. To ensure a sufficient level of rigidity, the product is fixed in a profiled frame made of steel or aluminum.

The dimensions of the product are not strictly marked, therefore the height of the structure can be 2050, 2500 and even 3000 mm. The web width varies from a minimum value of 600 mm. At the same time, both the number of sashes and the principle of their execution directly depend on the desire of the buyer or designer. Thus, the sashes can be deaf, or with various inserts in the form of glazing, stained glass compositions and other decorative elements.

Standard equipment

The process of installing accordion doors can be carried out by self-manufacturing of the product, or after purchasing a complete set of necessary parts, including extensions. The standard set of accordion door elements includes:

  • Guide rail in the form of a metal profile;
  • Shutters, each of which has special loops that provide the possibility of fastening them to each other;
  • Roller carriages that directly move the web;
  • Special keys for adjusting fasteners;
  • fasteners;
  • Accessories.

Aluminum is the most commonly used guide material. In case of engineering necessity, the lower and upper rails can be used simultaneously. In this case, the main emphasis on the weight of the structure falls on the lower mounts and the floor. The upper elements in this case serve to ensure the verticality of the web. However, most often the product is attached only to the top rail.

In some cases, locking elements are also included in the kit, but most often they must be purchased separately, along with extensions and platbands.

Making a door with your own hands

If desired, the manufacture and installation of the accordion door can be done independently. In this situation, in the absence of significant experience, it is important to focus on the instructions. At the same time, the most difficult process is the selection of suitable fittings. It is much easier and more efficient to purchase a kit that most harmoniously matches the color scheme of the canvas and the overall interior of the room.

For the manufacture of sashes, building materials will be required in the form of MDF sheets with a laminated coating. The use of chipboard plates is unacceptable for accordion doors, since the physical qualities of the material do not meet the necessary requirements.

It should be remembered that installing an accordion door with your own hands requires a certain set of constituent elements:

  • Guide profiles or blanks for them;
  • Axial locking elements and rods;
  • A set of roller mechanisms for all sliding doors. In the case of mounting the product with a lower guide, the number of carriages is doubled;
  • MDF sheets with a special overlapping edge;
  • Set of self-tapping screws, hinges and door handles;
  • Joiner's glue. For the manufacture of accordion doors, the most suitable are "Moment" and "Titan".

For the installation of loop mechanisms, it is necessary to cut special grooves for the mechanism plates. In this case, the depth, length and width of the cut must correspond to the dimensions of the plates. Door handles are installed according to the technology and depending on the type of product.

Sash manufacturing process

After carrying out all the necessary calculations, the MDF sheets are marked on the sashes, followed by cutting out the panels. The end part of each sash requires processing and alignment. For this, sandpaper is used, which allows not only to smooth out irregularities, but also to remove dust and other third-party particles.

The blanks after partial processing with sandpaper are pasted over with an edge along the end part. For high-quality sizing, the product must be pressed and left in a fixed form for 12 hours. After this time, each sash is carefully checked for the quality of gluing. After that, it is allowed to mark the sashes for the installation of hinges.

Installation of the finished product

The principle of action by which the installation of the accordion door is carried out is a strictly step-by-step process. For a more detailed acquaintance with it, using a good example, you should refer to various videos explaining the essence of the work. Also, when buying a ready-made mounting kit, it is necessarily equipped with detailed instructions.

The installation process itself begins with fixing the profile element. It is worth remembering that this part must be equipped with a special latch in advance. If necessary, when the profile has a greater width than the opening itself, this element is cut off and mounting holes for screws are drilled in it. In this case, the step between the holes, equal to 250-300 mm, is observed.

The fastening of the latch is made from the side opposite to the opening. After that, it houses the axial part of the end flap, which must be inserted into the guide grooves of the roller mechanism slider. The next stage includes the fastening of special upper and lower axial metal rods into holes prepared in advance for this. In the event that the product does not contain holes at the time of purchase, they must be drilled independently.

In the process of installing accordion doors, being at the stage of preparing mounting holes, it is important to ensure that their depth is not greater than the size of the axial rod. It is required that this element extends slightly beyond the main line. At the same time, it is better to navigate in sizes according to the data from the official instructions for the delivery set.

After the final fixing of all elements at the inspection stage, all axles and their fasteners must be parallel to each other in both horizontal and vertical positions.

The mounting of the receiving plate is carried out in the lower section of the door passage in the corner area. Before this, it is necessary to determine its exact location based on the location of the latch. For fastening the runner device, a suitable hole is prepared. Moreover, the procedure should be carried out carefully enough, since this runner device is responsible for the process of adjusting the accordion door after it is installed independently.

Canvas assembly

In the process of installing an accordion door, one of the most time-consuming and time-consuming processes is to assemble all the wings of the structure together. To carry out this procedure, it is necessary to initially mark all points of future attachment points for hinge mechanisms. In this case, it is desirable to place all elements strictly on the same level. To facilitate the task, all available doors are laid out on a flat surface in the required order.

After the installation of all the wings on the extreme mobile panel, the marking and preparation of the groove for mounting the door handle is carried out. At the same time, unlike the doors of the classical type, the handle is mounted as close as possible to the area where the hinges are located.

Process features

To ensure high-quality and durable operation of the product, before assembling and installing an accordion door in an existing opening, it is necessary to take into account several important features, also indicated in numerous videos. These include:

  • A slight difference in the structure of the initial and final sash. Therefore, during assembly, you should carefully inspect the parts so as not to confuse them;
  • In all sashes, except for those placed at the edges, marking and installation of hinge mechanisms in the amount of 3 pieces is carried out;
  • Checking the uniformity of fastening loops. On each of the wings, the distance between them should be the same;
  • All loops of the product should go along one horizontal line for each of the three levels. If this requirement is not met, the canvas will be skewed almost immediately;
  • In the process of combining the details of the canvas, it is important to adhere to the normative technological gap of 3 mm.

Canvas installation

After the product is assembled, the stage of hanging the fasteners placed in advance begins. Before starting the installation of the accordion door, all existing doors are brought into the folded position. As an additional fixation, special iron axial rods are inserted into the grooves of the plates. After that, it is important to ensure a rigid fixation of the axis of the sliders of the final panel.

If it is necessary to loosen or tighten the nuts in the end carriages or on the axial fasteners, use the adjusting key that comes with the ready-made door kits. Also, with its help, the mode of opening and closing the canvas is adjusted.

In the process of installing an accordion door, several important features of these folding structures should be considered:

  • When using doors made of natural wood or when overlapping a passage that is wide enough by standard measures, it is necessary to increase the number of carriages;
  • A heavy door, to ensure the safety of operation and the durability of the product, is installed on the lower rail, with an additional corrective upper one.
