What will happen if you do not drink water for a long time. What happens if you drink a little water

I think, having read the previous part of the article, many of the blog visitors understood, but none of us need health problems.

Let's find out together what happens if you prefer to drink purified water to just juices and sweet soda, although most of these drinks will be beneficial, but you should not forget about water either.

what happens if you drink a little water

It is especially necessary to consume more purified water, and any - whether it is an exacerbation of a chronic disease, or a viral infection. Drinking enough water will ensure that the body is free of toxins and decay products, toxins, and therefore will prevent the negative effects of intoxication, which cannot be avoided during any disease. If you ignore this advice, the body itself will begin to look for ways to remove toxic substances and borrow the moisture needed for this from lymph and blood - I think presenting negative consequences will not complicate anyone. The underlying disease can be complicated by a stroke, or even a heart attack, thrombosis due to too thick blood, and the lymphatic system will cease to fulfill its functions - after all, everything is interconnected in the human body.

For another, quite good reason, it is undesirable to prevent the occurrence of symptoms of dehydration - thick blood flows in slow motion through the vessels, which means that systems and organs will be deficient in nutrients and oxygen, which will not be supplied enough. When oxygen deficiency occurs, the human body begins to feel a desire to sleep, a feeling of fatigue accompanies a person and after he has a good rest and this will continue, moreover, getting worse every day - will not help in this case, even. Salvation is only in drinking enough purified and cool water. By the way, about the amount of drinking water per day, it is advisable to talk with a doctor. He will take into account all the existing chronic problems and individually advise the amount of water that is desirable to drink during the day - what happens if you drink a little water.

With dehydration, a feeling of malnutrition may appear, although in reality the body needs only a certain amount. So, before you run to the refrigerator, you should drink a good cup of purified water, and anyone will be convinced of the truth that insufficient water intake can cause a false feeling of hunger! 🙂 Food is fuel for our body, but through water, all human systems and organs are capable of implementing all other functions. In addition, insufficient consumption of purified drinking water may cause stomach pain, due to the fact that the digestive system also needs the optimal amount of water for normal functioning. Remember the conversation that the oral mucosa requires hydration, the mucous membrane of the entire gastrointestinal tract requires the same - you should remember this.

Women, I think, know that inadequate drinking of purified water immediately affects the condition of the skin, hair and nail plates. They dry, appear

Parents in childhood periodically scared and told what would happen if you drink a little water or even refuse it. Years passed, and it was time to decide whether the truth in all these statements was true or whether they would remain a horror story for gullible children.

Fluid in the human body

The main fluid of the human body is blood:

  • It circulates in a vicious circle;
  • Provides oxygen transportation to all organs and systems;
  • Regulates many physiological processes;
  • Consists of liquid and shaped elements;
  • It is a universal transport system for all substances absorbed into the blood;
  • Abundant blood loss or cardiac arrest is guaranteed to be fatal, without emergency care.

But even she is not in a constant, unchanging state:

  1. Due to renal filtration, primary urine is formed from the blood;
  2. Almost all toxins coming from the outside world penetrate into the vascular bed;
  3. The consumed liquid provides a replacement for the liquid part of the blood.

That is why it is necessary to drink water - so that the lungs do not forget that they need to breathe. Well, so that the heart does not forget that he needs to beat. You can die without water in just a couple of days, one of the worst tortures is death from dehydration.

In this video, nutritionist Elena Denisova will tell you about the benefits of regular drinking of water for the human body:

If you drink little water: the consequences

Chronic dehydration manifests itself in the form of:

  • The constant thirst that haunts man everywhere;
  • Dry mucous membranes - eyes, mouth, nose, genitals;
  • Fragility of hair, to make an attractive hairstyle will not work;
  • Dry skin, which inevitably leads to premature aging;
  • Eye retraction, by reducing the swelling of fatty tissue;
  • Point forms;
  • Severe headache.

The degree of manifestation of certain violations depends on how much less you need from the required minimum fluid. Recall, every day you need to get at least 30 ml per kilogram of your weight.

Counting with a calculator or calculating in the mind, you can get the necessary data. On average, every adult should receive at least 2 liters of fluid per day , for the normal functioning of the body.

You won’t die from regular dehydration, but you won’t extend your age either. Skin problems, persistent lowering of blood pressure, headaches and continuous thirst. All this against the background of severe weakness and apathy. All this very poorly fits the description of a normal or happy life.

Lack of fluid is felt subjectively, for this you do not need to undergo any tests or expensive studies.

A child drinks little water: reasons

Children need water no less than adults. Again, it all depends on weight and age, but the proposed calculation formula is no longer suitable.

On average, a baby up to three years old needs 1.3 liters of fluid per day, closer to 8 years of age the balance shifts in favor of 2 liters.

A child may simply not like to drink a lot of water, this happens:

  1. The kid independently regulates the amount of fluid;
  2. If he wants to drink, he will ask or pour himself;
  3. Do not force the child to drink through force;
  4. Dite does not bring himself to dehydration on his own, do not be afraid.

You can use a couple of tricks:

  • Time a drink of water to some event - awakening or going to bed;
  • Find the most beautiful mug and pour liquid for the baby only into it;
  • Drink water regularly, setting an example to your son or daughter;
  • Keep water in a conspicuous place so that the child has constant access to it.

These techniques will help develop interest in your child and add water consumption to the habit. You can give the liquid fractionally, a little bit easier for children to drink.

And better refuse drinks and soft drinks, fed up with them, the baby will simply refuse ordinary water, without taste, color and smell.

Does the dog drink little water?

Dogs need a lot of water:

  1. The minimum indicator is taken at the rate of 20 ml per kilogram of body weight;
  2. Maximum - 70 ml per kg;
  3. Volume depends on environmental conditions;
  4. Refusal of water can be regarded as a harbinger of the disease;
  5. Dogs begin to drink much less with age.

Of the violations most likely:

  • Inflammatory processes in the mouth;
  • Diabetes;
  • Kidney disease
  • Cancer tumor;
  • Pregnancy;
  • Infections

You should contact your veterinarian if there is regular vomiting or diarrhea along with the refusal of water. Loss of fluid is not replenished and this can very quickly lead to a deterioration of the dog. Severe swelling on the face and legs is an occasion to consult a friend's veterinarian.

Kidney disease, which is accompanied by accumulation of fluid in the subcutaneous tissue, can have serious consequences for the body.

It is enough to regularly give water to the dog, constantly change it and keep the bowl clean. The dog will start drinking on its own, sooner or later. If this does not happen, and you see that the animal’s well-being is only getting worse, you should contact a veterinary clinic for help.

The cat drinks little water

Cats, in principle, need much less water:

  • They can give up liquid for days;
  • A slight decrease in the amount of water consumed will not cause harm to the cat's body;
  • Their urine is much more concentrated and “aromatic” than other pets.

The causes may be the same as in dogs - inflammation of the oral mucosa, diabetes, kidney disease, aging, or pregnancy. The recommendations are not too different either. Unless, you can try to add more fluid to the feed in order to somehow replenish the supply. This will not have a special effect on dogs, given the great need for fluid and an impressive body weight. But with cats, in this regard, a little easier.

No need to drink the animal through force, pour water into its throat or do something like that. Cats are able to control their thirst and satisfy it, as needed.

You should not expect that the kitten will drink as much as a 100-pound man drinks, the needs are different. But if the cat has recently begun to “give up” and there are other manifestations besides giving up the liquid, it is better to consult a veterinarian so that you don’t regret what happened later.

Drink water right

Life was born in water on our planet, and it is precisely this kind of organism that any organism needs in order to support this life:

  1. An adult, on average, needs 2 liters of fluid per day;
  2. Physiological moisture loss occurs not only due to sweat, but also due to evaporation from the surface of the lungs;
  3. It is best to use a clean, unsweetened liquid without dyes;
  4. A lack of water in the body can lead to a number of symptoms;
  5. Healthy people and animals should not be watered through force; they themselves will restore balance when necessary.

As a rule, so much attention is not paid to the issue of fluid intake. This all happens somehow by itself, as the need arises, it is quenched. Thinking about it begins only when there are health problems or a desire to “pump up” and lead a healthy lifestyle.

It is better not to check on your own what will happen if you drink a little water - a dubious experience. Focus on the needs of your own body, you will never lose, in this regard.

Video about the benefits of fluid for humans

In this video, Jan Horishny will tell you what happens if we don’t drink water:

Scientists estimate that the human body is 75-65% water. If the body quickly loses moisture, acute dehydration develops. Do you think it threatens only a traveler lost in the desert? No matter how! Each of us is at risk.

No, comrades, not in vain
  There are rivers and seas
  Because without water
  And neither here nor there.
  The Water Carrier, V. Lebedev-Kumach

Water is the basis of life on Earth. It is found in all living things: bacteria, fungi, plants and animals. Scientists estimate that the human body is 75-65% water. When there is a lack of it, acute or chronic dehydration develops, the work of all organs is disrupted, diseases arise that lead to premature aging and death.

Why does man need water?

In the human body, two-thirds of all fluid is contained in the cells of different tissues. Most of the water is part of liquid media, blood and lymph (94%), slightly less than it is in the brain and nerve cells (up to 85%). One third of the body’s moisture is extracellular fluid, of which 25% is water, which is part of the blood plasma and is inside the veins, arteries and capillaries and 75% is water that fills the gaps between the cells of the body.

Water is moisture in the eyes, mucus, and digestive juices. Without water, digestion, the synthesis of substances necessary for the body, their delivery to organs and tissues, and the removal of waste products are impossible. With a lack of fluid, these natural processes are disturbed, tissue cells "dry up" and cease to fulfill their functions. That is why it is so important to constantly replenish the body’s water supply from the outside.

Acute dehydration - deadly!

Oddly enough, despite the lack of a deficiency of clean drinking water, modern people sometimes suffer from dehydration. Of course, life-threatening conditions are not so common, mainly among the population of developing countries in the African continent, prone to intestinal infections and loss of fluid with vomit and loose stools.

However, this is not a reason to relax, despite our remoteness from Africa, each of us can join the risk group. Acute dehydration can develop with prolonged fever, especially in children and the elderly, when working in the heat, especially in regions with low humidity. A liquid shortage threatens soldiers during march-throws, tourists during hikes, athletes during training - to everyone who forgets the hustle and bustle of everyday affairs and worries to drink water.

Acute dehydration develops rapidly. Already at its very beginning, with a loss of 3% of fluid (or body weight), weakness, dry mouth, thirst appear. How many of you have not experienced such symptoms? It is enough to normalize the drinking regime and the symptoms of dehydration will disappear without a trace.

With a loss of 4-6% of body moisture, weakness increases, dizziness appears, gait becomes shaky, uncertain, lips acquire a bluish-cyanotic shade, dry, crack, skin becomes flabby, voice is slightly hoarse. Short-term cramps in the muscles of the legs, feet and hands are possible. Blood pressure decreases, the pulse becomes frequent and weak, body temperature drops. You can eliminate dehydration by normalizing your drinking regimen, slightly increasing fluid intake.

Dehydration of the third degree develops with a loss of 6-9% of body moisture. Strong thirst, dryness, blueness of the skin and mucous membranes, convulsions, hoarseness, weak rapid pulse, low blood pressure, hypothermia, blood clotting are the signs of an acute shortage of water in the body. One drink is not enough to cope with such a critical situation, medical assistance and intravenous infusion of special solutions are necessary. Only timely treatment will avoid changes in the organs.

With a loss of 10% of the fluid, the body is between life and death. The skin becomes gray, cold, clammy, lethargic, wrinkles, fissures, convulsions of all muscles of the body are observed, facial features are sharpened, eyes are sunken, dark circles appear around them. Consciousness is clouded, a state of prostration arises. Pressure drops below a critical level, heart sounds are barely audible, urine flow stops. Doctors assess this condition as borderline; without medical assistance, a person dies.

With a fluid deficiency of 15%, irreversible changes occur in the human body, death becomes inevitable.

How to avoid acute dehydration?

  • First of all, you must not forget to drink water. A person should receive about 31 ml of fluid per kilogram of body weight per day. That is, an average woman needs to drink 8-10 glasses of water per day, a man - 10-12 glasses, an elderly person - 7-8 glasses, a child about 5-6 glasses of pure drinking water.
  • Going for a walk, do not be lazy to bring a bottle of water with you. When going camping, pay more attention to the creation of water reserves than to the food supply. A person can live without food for a long 6 weeks, but without water only a few days. During training, do not forget to replenish the body's water reserves, drink a few sips of water every 10-15 minutes.
  • If you have vomiting or diarrhea more than 7-10 times a day, you should definitely seek medical help. To make up for fluid loss, you will have to resort to intensive care.
  • Note that with obesity, the presence of chronic diseases, during pregnancy and with a tendency to edema, fluid requirements change.

In Israel, in hot weather, drinking water is sold in every shop, calls for drinking water are everywhere. Of course, it cannot do without commercial interests, but, nevertheless, it makes citizens think about health.

In the summer, doctors urge you to drink water in small portions, three sips every 10-15 minutes. Do not wait for the appearance of thirst and dry mouth, these are already signs of dehydration. You just need to drink water all the time.

And one more remark, neither tea, nor coffee, nor stewed fruit, nor even carbonated sweet drinks can be considered full-fledged sources of liquid. Often their use only enhances dehydration.

Only the use of purified unboiled drinking water can serve the good of health!
