Small-bore rifles: characteristics and price. Small-bore sporting and hunting rifles

Airguns... Shooting from pneumatic weapons is the main form of mass training of schoolchildren in the techniques and rules of shooting. The skills and abilities acquired when shooting from an air rifle contribute to the successful mastery of the technique of shooting from small-caliber and combat weapons.

Pneumatic weapons have several advantages. These include light weight, simplicity of the weapon device and the possibility of shooting in simplified shooting ranges or specially equipped rooms.

Rifles IZH-22, IZH-32, IZH-38 belong to sports air rifles.

Purpose, characteristics and general structure of the IZH-38S rifle. The rifle (Fig. 30) is intended for mass initial training in bullet shooting. Its caliber is 4.5 mm, barrel length is 450 mm, rifle length is 1050 mm, weight is 2.8 kg. Effort of triggering from a combat platoon - 2-3 kgf. The initial speed of the bullet is 140-180 m / s.

Figure: 30. Air rifle IZH-38S: 1 - stock; 2 - sight; 3 - trunk axis; 4 - trunk; 5 - axis of the hinge; 6 - hinge; 7 - trigger guard; 8 - trigger hook

The shot occurs as a result of air pressure compressed by the piston, which moves under the influence of a pre-tensioned spring. When the mainspring is released, a pressure of up to 5 atmospheres is created in the air chamber of the rifle, throwing a bullet at a distance of up to 150 m. The tension force of the piston spring is 50-60 kg, but thanks to the system of levers, a force of up to 3 kg is sufficient for its cocking.

The design of the sight allows for vertical and horizontal adjustment of shooting with adjusting screws. Coarse adjustment is also possible horizontally due to the displacement of the rear sight base relative to the frame.

Bullets... In shooting from pneumatic weapons, two types of bullets are used: lead ("Diabolo", "DC", "DC-m") and reusable with a stabilizer made of plastic. Bullets "Diabolo" have an accuracy of fire of 65 mm and are intended for initial training in bullet shooting. The accuracy of fire of bullets "DC" is 10 mm, these bullets are intended for mass execution of sports categories. Bullets "DC-m" have an accuracy of 2.5-5.5 mm and are intended for highly skilled shooters.

Loading the rifle... Take the rifle with one hand by the neck of the stock, and press the barrel with the other. Turn the barrel around the axis to the extreme rear position, while the cocking lever, overcoming the resistance of the piston spring, will put the piston on the cocked. Insert a bullet into the bore. Turn the barrel around the axis until it locks in a horizontal position.

The rifle is loaded. When the trigger is pulled, a shot will follow.

Care and saving... It is not recommended to shoot from an air rifle "idle", without bullets, since the piston, not having the proper air resistance, accelerates excessively, strikes hard against the end of the cylinder and may be damaged. You can also not use various objects for shooting instead of bullets. This leads to damage to the weapon.

The rifle should be disassembled only for the purpose of complete cleaning or troubleshooting. Disassembly and assembly of the rifle is carried out by a specialist (instructor, pre-conscription training teacher or shooting circle) or a trained shooter under the supervision of a specialist.

For long-term storage without use, it is necessary to lightly lubricate the metal parts of the rifle with gun grease.

Small caliber weapons... Small-bore rifle TOZ-8 is designed for initial training in shooting, training and mass shooting competitions.

Fighting properties of the rifle: caliber - 5.6 mm; weight - 3.12 kg; muzzle velocity - about 310 m / s; rate of fire - 10-12 rds / min; sighting range - 250 m; the greatest range of a bullet - up to 1600 m; the range of the lethal action of the bullet is up to 800 m.

The rifle (Fig. 31) consists of a barrel, receiver, trigger, bolt, sighting mechanism and stock.

Figure: 31. Small-bore rifle TOZ-8: 1 - muzzle; 2 - trunk; 3 - sight; 4 - receiver; 5 - cap (back cover); 6 - the neck of the box; 7 - bed; 8 - butt; 9 - lower swivel; 10 - trigger guard; 11 - trigger; 12 - shutter; 13 - shutter handle; 14 - top swivel; 15 - forend stock

The barrel serves to direct the flight of the bullet. The bore has four grooves that twist from left to top to right. The bullet, passing through the barrel, makes about two turns. The gaps between the grooves are called fields, and the distance between opposite fields is called the barrel caliber. In the rear part, the bore is reamed in the shape of the cartridge. A cartridge is inserted here when loading, this part is called a chamber. A sighting device is attached to the barrel.

The receiver is designed to accommodate the shutter in it. Its front part is rigidly connected to the barrel. A liner is reinforced in the receiver, which ensures correct feeding of cartridges into the chamber. A trigger is attached to the bottom of the receiver. The rear of the barrel is closed with a cap (back cover).

The trigger mechanism consists of a trigger, leaf spring with a rack, a screw and an axle. The trigger guard serves to prevent accidental pulling of the trigger.

The shutter is used to send the cartridge into the chamber, lock the bore, fire and remove the sleeve.

The sighting device is designed to direct the rifle to the target and give it the required aiming angle. It includes an open-type sector sight and a front sight with a front sight. The open sight consists of an aiming pad and an aiming bar with a clip.

The stock is designed to connect all parts of the rifle and ease of shooting. It has a stock, neck and forend.

Features of the device of the TOZ-12 small-bore rifle... The TOZ-12 small-bore rifle (Fig. 32) is an improved sports model of the TOZ-8 rifle.

The purpose and device of the barrel, receiver, trigger mechanism and bolt are the same as for the TOZ-8 rifle. Stock with an extended fore-end. The sighting device consists of a diopter sight and front sight (diopters and front sight are replaceable).

The diopter sight (Fig. 32, b) consists of a square, a block with a transition bar and a diopter. There are horizontal and vertical micrometric adjustment screws with heads on the square. There are divisions on the heads. Each division is equal to 1/10 of a turn. When the head is turned by one division, a click occurs, and the middle point of impact moves by 1 cm. In order to move the square vertically, it is necessary to first release the locking screw by one turn. After the correction has been made, the square is re-fixed with the locking screw. The rifle is supplied with replaceable rectangular and ring front sight, which are attached to the body.

Figure: 33. Small-caliber side fire cartridge: 1 - bullet; 2 - leading belts; 3 - sleeve; 4 - sleeve flange; 5 - shock composition; 6 - powder

The shock composition required to ignite the powder charge is pressed into the head of the sleeve between the walls of its rim. The sleeve has a cylindrical shape. Inside the liner, in addition to the shock composition, 0.06 g of smokeless powder is placed. A bullet made of an alloy of lead with antimony is attached to the front of the sleeve. In the middle of the bullet, leading belts are made to reduce friction against the bore. On the back there is a spherical recess to prevent gas breakthrough between the bullet and the barrel walls when fired.

Incomplete disassembly and assembly of the rifle... Before disassembling, make sure that the rifle is not loaded.

It is necessary to disassemble the rifle for cleaning and lubrication in the following order: loosen the clamping screw of the sight body and remove the diopter sight (for TOZ-12 rifles); open the bolt and, pressing the trigger with the index finger of your left hand, knock it off the receiver with light strokes of the bolt in the bottom of the cap; remove the bolt from the box. The rifle is assembled in reverse order.

Separation of the barrel with the receiver from the stock, disassembly and assembly of the bolt and other assemblies are carried out in case of emergency (heavy contamination, accumulation of grease, the barrel adjoining the forend of the stock, breakage) and only by specialists in small arms.

Care and saving... The rifle should be stored unloaded, with the trigger pulled. It is necessary to protect it from sharp shocks and impacts, to prevent clogging of mechanisms with dust and sand.

Inspection, cleaning and lubrication of the rifle should be carried out immediately after firing and subsequently, during storage without use, at least once every three months.

It is forbidden to clean and lubricate the bore of a small-bore rifle from the muzzle, as the ramrod erases the edges of the grooves of the muzzle of the barrel, which negatively affects the accuracy of the rifle's battle.

To clean the barrel bore, wrap a rag or tow 4-5 cm long on the rotating part of the wiper, soak it with liquid gun grease and insert the cleaning rod into the barrel bore from the chamber side. Cleaning should be continued until powder carbon deposits are completely removed from the bore and chamber surfaces.

After cleaning, wipe the bore, chamber and metal parts dry and lubricate with a thin layer of gun grease. The wood of the box is wiped with a dry cloth.

A small-bore rifle of domestic production, commonly referred to as a 5.6-mm "small-caliber" rifle, has gained enviable popularity among hunters and athletes, due to unpretentious maintenance, simplicity of the main components and a high degree of reliability.

The rifle received its diminutive nickname because of the small diameter of the cartridge caliber, which is 5.6 mm. This type of rifle can be presented in various modifications, made taking into account the characteristics of a particular application.

Design features

The rifle weighs 3.12 kg, the rate of fire is up to 12 rounds per minute, and the bullet speed is up to 310 m / s.

The main elements of the rifle:

  • receiver;
  • trunk;
  • trigger and sighting mechanisms;
  • bed.

Barrel design - rifled. Unlike smooth-bore weapons, the barrel of such a rifle has 4 screw threads.

The rifle is equipped with a bolt with a longitudinally sliding mechanism. Fighting stops are not provided in the rifle. The cartridge is fixed using the loading handle. Elements of the trigger mechanism and the bolt of the weapon are located in the bolt box.

The presented rifle does not have a magazine. Aiming equipment is made in the form of a front sight and an open sight. The rear cover of the rifle provides protection for the shooter's eyes, cutting off the flow of powder gases when firing.

Range of rifles series TOZ

TOZ-8 and TOZ-9 - types of small-bore rifles have proven themselves well among hunters, largely due to their unpretentiousness and simplified design.

Both versions of the rifle are similar in many respects. The difference between TOZ-9 and its predecessor, the 8th series, is the presence of a five-round magazine.

The TOZ-8 rifle is made in the form of a single-shot carbine.

Technical data TOZ-8

The rifle is equipped with a striker-type firing mechanism for a 5.6x16 mm cartridge. The TOZ-8 barrel has a cylindrical shape. Its length is 640 mm. The front sight is made in the form of a cylinder with a tongue elongated at the base.

The rifle bolt is longitudinally sliding. On the front of it there is a rotary clutch. A fuse is not provided. The weight of the presented sample is 3 - 4 kg. The rifle can be equipped with an optical sight.

Technical parameters TOZ-9

Unlike previous counterparts, the rifle has a five-round magazine. All other units and mechanisms of this sample completely coincide with the layout of TOZ - 8.

The rifle is equipped with a single-row magazine with a single-row filling of ammunition, designed for 4 rounds. Another cartridge is located in the chamber.

The removed TOZ-9 magazine is filled with a window at the top of the magazine, after which it is inserted into the rifle regardless of the bolt position. The design of the rifle allows you to cock a weapon for firing with a single cartridge. In this case, the rifle magazine should be emptied in advance.

Carbine TOZ-11

11th model of the presented family. This updated version of the rifle is presented in the form of a single-shot carbine, created on the basis of TOZ-8.

The rifle has undergone almost no changes. The only difference between this sample and the early TOZs is the reduction in the weight of the rifle, which was reduced to 2 kg.

The TOZ series carbines can be presented in various price niches. One way or another, it is worth noting that the "small cars" of this series are much cheaper than their Russian-made competitors, for example, the same Izhevsk "Sobol".

The price range for such rifles can vary from 10 to 25 thousand rubles. You can buy the presented samples on various weapon sites.

When buying such a rifle, you need to take into account the fact that a small caliber does not exempt you from obtaining a license to purchase a rifled weapon.

The presented samples are rightfully considered one of the best types of firearms in their class. Tested in combat conditions, time-tested rifles of the TOZ series have not yet lost their popularity among hunting enthusiasts and athletes.

Today, on the market for hunting rifles, you can find a lot of imported and domestic smoothbore rifles, but all of them, even used ones, will come out at the price of the new TOZ - 34.

Then why buy a used hunting rifle with a colossal shot and careless operation, if you can become the owner of a domestic vertical gun that has proven itself over the years, which has fallen into your hands right from the factory?

From the very beginning, you need to decide on a gun store. There are a lot of them in Moscow and it is best to choose the most authoritative by visiting the site and reading reviews.

There is also the manufacturer's official website, where you can get comprehensive information about the production and the weapon itself.

Description and price of TOZ-34

Let's consider this option and see how this double-barreled shotgun justifies itself.

Initially, the gun was produced in pieces at the Tula arms factory. Its production began in the 64th year.

The design of the weapon turned out to be very simple. The gun is still considered one of the lightest among hunting smoothbore fractures of this type.

In the 65th year, the product was awarded a high award. The forend of TOZ-34 is not removable; it consists of two halves attached to the barrels. The barrels are removable, located horizontally.

The barrels, like most hunting rifles, have standard narrowing. The hammers are cocked when the weapon is broken. The weapon is equipped with trigger catchers and non-automatic safety locks.

The Shock Trigger is equipped with closed triggers and a double trigger.

Wooden parts are made from birch, walnut or beech.

The cost of the new TOZ-34 depends on the caliber and performance of the gun and varies between 15-30 thousand rubles. A used gun is much cheaper, but quality guarantees, of course, in this case cannot be obtained.

Choice

Like all shotguns, the TOZ-34 must be properly inspected. Evaluate the quality of burnished steel.

The coating should be perfectly smooth and uniform. You also need to carefully examine the butt and forearm for defects and wood chips, and then look into the trunks.

Each shadow ring in the bore must be flawless, perfectly even! The lines should be thin and straight.

Hunter's Note: if the rings are not of an ideal shape, or one of them, this indicates the curvature of the barrel or its blowing, such a gun should never be bought!

When buying a new weapon, it must be disassembled and cleaned of factory grease before shooting. In this case, you will not become an eyewitness to myths about defective springs and other parts or tight fuses.

Features:

TOZ-34 was produced in four calibers, so each hunter could choose a weapon for his purposes.

The 12 gauge is ideal for bird hunting where dense scree is needed or for large game with bullet or buckshot cartridges, while the 28 gauge is ideal for commercial hunting where the condition of the animal's skin is of the utmost importance.

A small batch of guns were produced with a rare 32 caliber. Today it is not difficult to buy a souvenir version of a gun, it is decorated with embossing, artistic engraving and chrome details, but such a weapon is also more expensive.

There are many varieties of TOZ - 34. An interesting layout is called "Bison".

This is a multi-barreled weapon capable of firing a 9 x 53 mm cartridge from the lower barrel, and a hunting one, twelfth caliber, from the upper one.

The weapon is equipped with an optical sight. About TOZ-34 gathered a lot of reviews from owners of different levels and experience in hunting.

Basically, the reviews about the gun are positive and there are no special complaints. Some people complain about the tight fuse and the lack of a butt cheek, but now in stores there are a lot of parts and spare parts for the gun, with which the owner can adjust the weapon to his needs. Watch the video review TOZ-34:

For all the time, not so many Tula guns were produced, while it is worth noting the fact that among them there are several models that are definitely worthy of attention from the hunters, since it was in their production that the manufacturers honed their skills, using at that time a variety of improvements in the creation of weapons. One of these models is TOZ-BM 12 gauge, which was created for all shooting enthusiasts and is incredibly widespread among hunters. It should be said right away that this gun was originally a model for commercial and amateur hunting.

What is this gun?

TOZ-BM 12 caliber is a modified TOZ-B model in the 57th year of the last century. The new model was distinguished by much higher characteristics in terms of reliability and strength, while initially it was produced exclusively in 16 and 20 calibers. The barrel bores differ in typical ones made of the pay-chok type.

Like the original gun, the TOZ-BM 12 gauge is equipped with padlocks. The barrels of the gun are equipped with a triple locking system on the block, where the lower one was closed using the Perde frame and two additional underbarrel hooks, while the Greener bolt was used to lock the upper one. Immediately after firing, the TOZ-BM 12 gauge trigger is fully automatically set to the safety position.

Visual features

The stock was made from birch, walnut or beech, and it is worth noting that the walnut stock is a characteristic feature of the exclusive models. The butt neck type was pistol, semi-pistol, or it could be even.

As with the original model, the barrel length ranges from 700 to 725 mm, while the 16-gauge model provides the ability to increase the barrel to 750 mm. The bores of the barrels of such weapons do not have any chrome coating, as a result of which it is necessary to constantly monitor so that they do not rust. It is not uncommon to find models that have chrome-plated channels, but this is quite rare and only applies to units produced after the 60s. The traditional aiming bar is easy to use in the same way as the brass front sight, as a result of which you can even shoot offhand with ease. The aiming bar is distinguished by a specialized anti-reflective knurl, made in the form of a transverse notch, which allows you to aim as calmly as possible even in bright enough sunlight.

Benefits

The advantage of TOZ-BM is that the gun can be easily disassembled, and therefore it is extremely convenient in the process of cleaning and transportation. Among other things, this model is also distinguished by its simplicity and unpretentious care.

The butt, of course, has a far from ideal appearance in ordinary samples, but at the same time from the side of users it is almost impossible to find any serious complaints about this. On the back of the butt there is a specialized blued or plastic butt pad, due to which, even with a fairly large weight, TOZ-BM has a relatively comfortable recoil, and the only thing that should not be forgotten is that the weapon requires a competent tab, and fire it is necessary, having previously occupied the correct stand. Among other things, this is also due to the unique shape of the butt plate.

disadvantages

If we talk about the shortcomings of TOZ-BM 12 caliber (photo above), then it can be noted that such guns are far from always equipped with really high-quality finish and combat. It is not uncommon to find models of this gun that differ in rather poor filing and fit, and in addition have a disgusting fight. Thus, the use of the Grinder bolt in the direct locking requires a really high-quality and highly qualified assembly, and otherwise the weapon simply will not be able to really clearly perform the tasks assigned to it.

It is for this reason that the adjustment of the upper mechanism is often far from the most satisfactory, and this often spoils the TOZ-BM (12 gauge). Individual production has somewhat solved the problem, since exclusive models are practically devoid of any production flaws. It is also worth noting the fact that many models are far from the best debugging and processing of various parts, often provoking well-deserved comments from most hunters.

How does this affect hunting?

Special attention should be paid to the fact that in the ordinary version, such guns often differ in the inappropriate wood of the stock and metal inset. Do not forget that too this sample can even be dangerous for the hunter, since the safety platoon is almost completely worn out in them. In the same way, non-chrome-plated trunks are not distinguished by reliability.

Quite often in such guns there is "baptism", which provides for the failure of the right barrel to the left, while the left, on the contrary, fails to the right. Of course, this again applies exclusively to ordinary models, but since the cost of just such specimens was as affordable as possible for most people, they fully met the minimum requirements of the majority of hunters of the 60-70s. In the taiga, as well as in other remote territories of the former USSR, despite the huge circulation, TOZ-BM 12 caliber (hammer), in principle, was in short supply, and with all the advantages and disadvantages, it constantly retained the status of a desired weapon.

Who uses it and where?

Like the standard model, this one was used by almost everyone who had to deal with hunting in professional and everyday life. The popularity of this gun is due to the fact that it is distinguished by an extremely thoughtful and at the same time time-tested design, and more importantly, maintainability, since all parts were widespread and, accordingly, available to every hunter. Among other things, many people also appreciated the high degree of strength and reliability of this gun.

For many hunters, an important role was played by the complete absence of a fuse, as well as the presence of external hammers, thanks to which the weapon could be brought into battle as soon as possible, since it is quite enough to simply cock the hammers. Also, due to this, the gun could very easily be transported with cartridges in the chambers with the triggers pulled down, and it was also not necessary to carry out any unnecessary movements to fire the shot.

What to choose?

In any case, to this day, one of the most common guns among modern hunters is precisely the TOZ-BM 12 caliber. Owner reviews confirm the main advantages and disadvantages described above, and therefore among professionals it is considered an extremely successful weapon given its current cost. As mentioned above, piece options always deserve special attention, since they are qualitatively different from ordinary ones, starting with exterior decoration and manufacturing of parts and ending with combat. Among other things, you can also find several guns of this model in souvenir design.

How to determine the quality of a fight?

Since this weapon itself is distinguished by a rather respectable age, when purchasing it, everyone asks a completely logical question: "How to determine that the gun is really of high quality and is in good condition?" In fact, there are certain norms that allow you to determine how ready a gun is for combat and whether it has retained its original characteristics.

According to the specifications, at least 55% of the pellets should get into the target from the left barrel, while only 45% from the right one. No more than 3 shots need to be fired from each individual barrel, and if at least one of them provided the above characteristics, then the barrel fight can be called satisfactory.

How to disassemble?

The TOZ-BM rifle must be assembled and disassembled exclusively in a certain sequence and in full compliance with the safety rules. It is also recommended not to use any excessive force or shock in this process. Before starting work, the TOZ-BM 12 gauge gun must be completely discharged.

The very same procedure for disassembling this weapon is carried out as follows:

  1. The forend is detached from the barrels.
  2. The shotgun is gripped by the neck of the stock with the right hand, while the thumb-locking lever is pulled back to the maximum right position. After that, the barrels smoothly turn down and separate from the box.
  3. The screw of the impact mechanisms is removed.
  4. The screw is screwed from the right side into the base of the right hammer, and then it will be used to carefully separate the right hammer.
  5. Through the hole located in the sear box, the left percussion mechanism is pushed very carefully with a wooden rod.

What should be considered?

The assembly of the percussion mechanisms is carried out in the reverse order. At the same time, it is worth noting the fact that it is worth separating the percussion mechanisms exclusively in the process of replacing summer or winter lubricants. It is recommended that the complete assembly of the gun be carried out only if absolutely necessary, and at the same time, all work should be carried out exclusively in a properly equipped weapons workshop. The blades of screwdrivers that are used during the assembly and disassembly of TOZ-BM (12 gauge) must be correctly tucked in, and also fully correspond to the screw slots.

How do you handle this weapon?

Always consider the gun loaded and ready to fire, and never point it at people, pets, or simply stand leaning against the gun. The shotgun should be stored exclusively unloaded and with the hammers drawn, while the ammunition is stored in a box under a secure lock.

The duration of service, as well as the reliability of the TOZ-BM 12 caliber, directly depend on how skillfully the owner handles this weapon, as well as how high-quality ammunition is used.

Inexperienced or careless handling of such a gun, as well as too frequent complete assembly and disassembly, will ultimately lead to a significant reduction in the overall service life of TOZ-BM. Owner reviews indicate that the quality of ammunition must also be monitored, not to mention the compliance of the calibers of your model.

Cleaning features

The cleaning of the weapon should be carried out exclusively before the traces of powder soot are completely removed from the surface of the channels. After the cleaning is over, with the help of an alkaline composition, the stem canals are thoroughly wiped dry and re-lubricated (you can lubricate with Vaseline or specialized oil). The wood of the stock can be wiped down with a standard dry cloth.

The day after the shooting and the initial cleaning, the stem channels should be wiped with a clean dry cloth, and if you find any traces of rust or carbon deposits, cleaning will need to be repeated as soon as possible. If after normal cleaning carbon deposits also remain, it must be softened by thoroughly rinsing the channels with boiling water. After washing, the weapon is re-cleaned in accordance with all requirements and recommendations.

During firing, lead can be deposited in the bore. In order to remove such a lead, you need to use a steel or copper wire brush, which is lubricated with a special one and then used to wipe the barrel bore. If necessary, you can use a brush made of stiff bristles.

For more than 10 years, Toz-120 has been pleasing hunters with its simplicity and reliability. A weapon with a simple design does not have any unnecessary functions that the shooter would rarely use. Lovers of luxury can make an order for a unique weapon, the design of which will be complemented by decorative elements.

general information

Toz-120 is equipped with 12-gauge cartridges (depending on the modification), has two twin barrels and is used for hunting: both amateur and commercial. The development of the gun was carried out by E.G. Starukhin, who took the equally popular Toz-91 as a basis. The engineer kept a lot of units, which showed their best side, and eliminated all the disadvantages of the analogue.

The practical design of the weapon allows it to be used in any climatic zone. The exception was the tropical zone with high humidity. In such conditions, corrosion of the main components of the double-barreled gun is accelerated, which can disable it.

In addition to hunting, the Toz-120 gun can be used for sports. For this, the Tula Arms Plant has released special "sports" modifications:

  • Toz-120-12-1T - used on a trench stand;
  • Toz-120-1K - used at the round stand;
  • Toz-120-12-1S - used for training in sports shooting.

The trigger mechanism has undergone the greatest change. In the 91st model, it had one trigger, and in the 120th it was supplemented with the function of switching the sequence of shots. The selector switch is combined with the safety button.

As mentioned above, lovers of luxury can get a unique "vertical" for an individual order. There will be no technical changes, there will be a difference from the serial versions only in appearance.

The metal parts of the case are subject to change. They are engraved using various technologies, in particular, manual engraving using precious stones. Wooden components are decorated with carvings or die-cutting.

Airframe Toz-120

Barrel length, depending on the modification of the gun, can be 710 or 750 millimeters. In this case, the length of the chamber can also be different: 70 or 76 millimeters. Each owner has the opportunity to use powerful ammunition "Magnum".

The length of the entire "vertical" is 1140 or 1180 millimeters, depending on the length of the barrel. The weight of the unloaded gun ranges from 3.2 to 3.55 kilograms. The final weight depends on the density and processing of the wood components of the hull.

The weapon is not equipped with removable muzzle attachments, although many competitors have this capability. For greater freedom of choice for each buyer, each gun is equipped with different combinations of muzzle restrictions, so every hunter can choose exactly what he likes best.

The trigger mechanism is made according to the selector type and has fundamental differences from the Toz-91. Such a device allows you to quickly fire two shots, which is especially useful when shooting at short distances, when the target appears in the field of view for a short period of time.

The classic configuration - the shot is fired first from the lower, then from the upper barrels. You can switch the sequence of shots using a lever located on the neck of the butt. By the way, it also activates the fuse.

The hammers are cocked automatically when the shooter opens the gun. Safety platoons and a non-automatic safety device are responsible for safety in the Toz-120, which nullify the possibility of an accidental shot.

An ejector mechanism is present to remove the casings from the gun. Its work is based on separate ejectors. This is a very convenient system that completely ejects the cartridge case of the spent cartridge and eliminates the possibility of losing a whole cartridge: the ejector only pushes it slightly out of the barrel so that the hunter has the opportunity to easily and quickly remove the charge by hand.

The bore is chrome plated, which makes it stronger and protects against corrosion. A sighting mechanism is placed on the barrel, which is represented by a simple ventilated bar. The barrel is attached to the receiver by means of an underbarrel hook, a locking frame and an articulated axis. Receivers of individual pieces are decorated with engraving. The forend and stock of the shotgun are made of high quality wood - beech or walnut.

Toz-120 characteristics:

  • For firing, charges 12/70 or 12/76 "Magnum" are used;
  • Double-barreled barrel length is 710 or 750 millimeters;
  • The total length of the double-barreled gun is 1140 or 1180 millimeters;
  • The weight of a discharged shotgun is 3.2-3.55 kilograms.

By its design, this weapon imposes serious competition on the IZH-27 and Toz-34, which over the long years of their existence have gained great popularity among Russian hunters. The advantage of the Toz-120 is that it is being produced to this day, so engineers regularly make various minor changes to its design that only make it better.

Modifications Toz-120

The following varieties of the popular "vertical" are presented on the domestic arms market:

  • Toz-120-12-1E - equipped with an ejector mechanism, loaded with cartridges 12/70;
  • Toz-120-12M-1E - equipped with an ejector mechanism, loaded with powerful cartridges "Magnum" 12/76;
