Do-it-yourself corner shelf on the wall. How to make corner shelves and assemble a module from them? Making a simple wooden shelf

In the interior of any room, be it a room, a kitchen or a bathroom, corner fixed ones look very harmonious. This piece of furniture, with its simplicity, plays both a practical and aesthetic role. It can be used for arranging books in the living room, children's room or study, installed in the kitchen, in order to arrange kitchen utensils, jars for bulk products or cute knick-knacks, equip the bathroom with convenient places for placing personal care products and cosmetics.

Thanks to this design, you can rationally use the space in small rooms, as well as smooth corners. Such shelves, not being the main elements of furniture, will accentuate the interior design, effectively decorating it.

What materials are corner shelves made of?

Now in stores there is a huge assortment of various shelves, which makes it possible to perfectly match them to any interior of the room. Manufacturers offer products made from different materials, all kinds of designs, sizes and shapes. Despite this, many are not averse to making corner shelves on the wall on their own.

But in any case, you should know which materials are the most suitable for the manufacture of such structures.

  • Wooden array. This natural material has always been and will be very popular for the production of furniture, including shelves.
  • and chipboard. They consist of recycled wood raw materials, to which formaldehyde is added, and are well suited for the manufacture of cabinet furniture and its accessories, both in the factory and at home. The surface of the finished products is then covered with veneer or foil.
  • Metal. For the manufacture of shelves, different profiles are used, from which the racks and transverse bearing elements are made. Various polymer coatings are used to protect against corrosion.
  • Glass. For such shelves, impact-resistant glass is used, and the supporting structures are made of metal.
  • Plastic. Corner wall shelves made of this material are structures in which cross members and posts are made entirely of polymers.

Corner shelves for the kitchen

When decorating a kitchen, such shelves are used not so much for decoration as for convenience. As a rule, they are placed above the work surface, taking into account the rules of ergonomics. What the corner shelves look like on the wall, the photo will reveal in full.

They are L-shaped and can only occupy a corner or continue along the length of the wall. Often, such an element located in the corner is used to connect hanging cabinets located on the adjoining walls. For small kitchens, they are a great alternative to bulky cabinets and are used to accommodate certain types of food, kitchen utensils and other utensils.

They can be made of all the materials listed above, but an attached corner shelf on a wooden wall looks more organic in the kitchen interior, especially if the room is decorated in styles such as classic, Provence or country.

Corner bathroom shelves

It is no secret that most bathrooms are small in size, and the issue of saving space is very acute. But in this room it is necessary to conveniently place bath accessories, shampoos and shower gels, cosmetics and perfumes, as well as all kinds of detergents for washing and cleaning.

That is why various suspended structures are simply irreplaceable here. The best option is to hang the corner ones on the wall. They go well with mirrors, look sleek and fit almost any bathroom decor. And if you consider that the humidity in this room is always high, then there is no better material for the shelves.

Although plastic shelves will be no less appropriate here. Their design consists of a rack, which is installed in a spacer between the edge of the bathtub and the ceiling, and four shelves with perforation (for water drainage). For convenience, the shelves are equipped with hinged soap dishes and washcloth hooks.

You can also hang corner shelves on a metal wall in the bathroom. Such structures are usually made of stainless or chrome-plated steel.

Book corner shelves

Shelves for books are present in every home. On the one hand, they are very comfortable, and on the other, they well complement the interior of the room. The design of these structures is striking in its variety and originality.

Corner shelves are made on the wall in the room in both classic and non-traditional versions.

But even the classics can be somewhat unusual. A wooden shelf looks impressive, the elements of which alternately adjoin one side of the corner, then the other. The planes for books are rectangular, rounded at the corners, and located at equal distances from each other.

The shelves look more monumental in the form of an open. Usually, each side of such a cabinet is divided into compartments of different widths, in which the transverse shelves are at different distances. Such corner shelves on the wall, the photo of which is offered below, have a shallow depth, while remaining very comfortable and spacious structures.

This kind of shelves for a children's room looks interesting. They are L-shaped with the same length of the cross members from the corner. But their zest lies in the fact that both books and toys can be placed on them, for which semicircular vertical compartments are provided at the ends of the shelves.

The original corner shelves on the wall in the style of minimalism are very popular now. They are made of wood. The base also has an L-shaped rather narrow shape, at the ends of which the sides are installed as book holders.

How to make corner shelves yourself?

Since the shelves are a fairly simple construction, many people prefer to make them themselves. There are plenty of advantages to this. Firstly, you can really save money, and secondly, you can make the desired structure to your taste, which fits perfectly into the required angle. Yes, and special knowledge, skills and expensive equipment will not be needed here.

Corner can be made from any material, as mentioned above. And having decided on it, you just need to choose the right tools.

Glass corner shelves

If you decide to make a glass shelf, you need to prepare the following set of tools:

  • glass, the thickness of which is not less than 7 mm;
  • fasteners "pelican" at the rate of 2 pcs. 1 cross member;
  • drill;
  • glass cutter;
  • grinder with a grinding wheel;
  • building level;
  • file;
  • pliers;
  • rubber hammer;
  • polishing paste;
  • tape measure, ruler, scissors;
  • pencil (marker), cardboard for the template.

Glass Shelf Manufacturing Technology

The manufacturing process of such a shelf consists of several stages:

  • Cut out the template. It is cut out of cardboard in full size, slightly rounding the corner of the joint with the wall. This will make it possible to further install the shelf more tightly to the wall.
  • Glass preparation. It is cleaned of contamination using soda or detergents. Please note that for further work the glass must be at room temperature.
  • Manufacturing of a transverse bearing element. Covering a flat surface with a cloth, place glass on it. Attaching the template, the element is cut out with a glass cutter.
  • Sanding the edges. Put on cloth gloves and use a file dipped in kerosene (turpentine) to clean the edges.
  • Edge grinding. To do this, use a grinder, after which the edges are polished with a grinder with a felt wheel, using a polishing paste.
  • Installing the shelf on the wall. This requires a pelican mount. First, they mark places on the wall for self-tapping screws, then drill holes with a drill, hammer dowels in there, then install fasteners and fix glass shelves in them with special screws.

Wooden corner shelf

You can also make such a shelf yourself if you have some carpentry skills. The best material for its manufacture would be chipboard, MDF or plywood.

To work, you need the following tools:

  • saw with fine teeth;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • drill;
  • hacksaw and knife;
  • compass;
  • glue "Moment";
  • slats to enhance rigidity.

Wooden shelf manufacturing technology

A corner shelf on a wooden wall is made in the following way:

  • a transverse element (shelf) is cut out from a chipboard plate - a circle is drawn with a compass, divided into 4 parts and each is cut out with a hacksaw or jigsaw;
  • on the rack-rack, places are marked for each shelf and grooves of the desired recess are made, for this they use a saw and a knife;
  • on each shelf, a section is marked for a cut near the corner-base, corresponding to the size of the groove; they also use a saw and a knife for this;
  • after that, the shelves are ground and checked for entry into the grooves;
  • the rack-rail is attached to the wall with glue and tape and left for 1 hour for better adhesion;
  • then they are inserted into the grooves of the shelf without additional fixation.

Knowing all these subtleties, making corner shelves on a wooden wall is not so difficult. This kind of work will take you several hours. A comfortable and beautiful shelf will serve you for many years.

Creating coziness and comfort in your home is a very pleasant experience. And if hand-made objects are used in the interior, this brings some warmth to the home environment. Imagine, experiment, make decor with your own hands - and you will bring joy to yourself and your loved ones.

Open corner shelves help to make living and working space more functional, and can serve as an effective detail of the overall interior solution. To the question of how to make corner shelves, do-it-yourself corner shelves are suitable based on the available free space and the planned structure.

DIY corner shelves and open shelving options

The appearance of furniture is largely determined by the materials used in the manufacture. Open corner shelving can be made of solid wood and chipboard, MDF and plywood, glass and metal. And in each version, the same constructive solution will look different.

Open corner shelving can radically change its appearance when changing insignificant details.

Also, combinations of different contrasting colors can change the usual model beyond recognition.

How to make an open corner shelving step by step

First of all, it is necessary to determine the overall dimensions of the open rack. As a rule, all models have an extremely laconic design and easily fit into the allotted space, supporting the overall interior solution.
Open shelves can be mounted either on the rack frame or directly on the wall. In the second case, in order to fix the corner shelves neatly and beautifully on the wall with your own hands, you will need to purchase special shelf holders - toucans (pelicans) or consoles of various configurations.

Also, a corner rack with shelves can be floor-standing or wall-mounted. In the first case, it is necessary to provide a basement box in the design. Usually, I do not make solid sidewalls to the floor - so that the plinth does not interfere with moving the product close to the wall. After all, it is not always possible to cut it off, quite often the wiring "hides" inside the hollow plinth.

Let's consider an example of calculating the detailing and drawing up maps of the cut of a corner rack with our own hands using the example of the first model.

Step 1. We draw the structure to scale, indicating the general dimensions and numbering of parts. Thinking over how the parts will be connected to each other. Since the rack will stand close to the walls, it makes no sense to use hidden fasteners in the form of dowels and eccentric ties. If the through holes on the bottom shelf, in the places where the basement box is attached, are also "embarrassing", give up euro screws (confirmations) in favor of corners.

Step 2. We paint the corner rack with our own hands in the form of detailing, draw up cut cards. The calculation is given for a chipboard with a thickness of 16 mm. For materials of different thicknesses, the dimensions of the shelves will be slightly different.

Step 3. After cutting out the parts, designing the radii, we roll up the visible parts with melamine edging or PVC.

Step 4. According to the specifications for the marking of the fasteners, we drill the parts for further assembly.

If you did everything correctly, the corner shelf with your own hands will be assembled like a "constructor", like an ordinary serial product.

Corner shelves save space, so this design solution is a godsend for small areas. A similar piece of furniture can be made independently, because this does not require special knowledge, expensive equipment and a lot of time.

Choice of material and tools for the shelf

A do-it-yourself corner shelf can be made from various materials. Consumers very often make a choice in favor of chipboard, MDF or plywood. Another option can be sill profiles, as well as glass.

The choice of tools depends on the material from which you need to create a shelf with your own hands.

So, for wooden models it is worth having:

  • electric jigsaw;
  • hacksaw;
  • a saw with fine teeth;
  • drill;
  • glue;
  • a rail for creating a compass and a compass with a large radius;
  • a wooden lath for the base of the structure.

If the corner shelf will be tinkering with a window sill profile, then it is worth purchasing the following tools:

  • drill;
  • hacksaw;
  • level;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • rail to strengthen the edge rigidity;
  • glue "Moment";
  • cable channels.

The smallest number of tools is required when you need to make a glass corner shelf:

  • a set of holders for glass shelves (there are already screws and dowels here);
  • level;
  • drill.

When all the materials and tools for performing the work are collected, you can start creating shelves.

How to make a corner shelf?

Shelf creation and installation is a fairly quick process. Therefore, in a few hours (or less), you can easily transform the room, which cannot be compared with the time spent when you need to create a wardrobe. You can make the shelves correctly using step-by-step instructions.

Glass shelf

Diagram of a corner glass shelf.

To make such a shelf, you need to do the following:

  1. A shelf template is created from cardboard.
  2. Cutting and processing glass can be done both at home and in a special workshop. But it is the professionals who will perform all the work at a high level, and the consumer will have the opportunity to choose the most suitable material.
  3. Holders are purchased.
  4. Next, you need to put the shelf on one of the holders, attach it to the wall and use a pencil to outline the upper limit of its attachment.
  5. The first holder is attached, for this, the supplied screws and dowels are used.
  6. The glass is inserted into the first holder, secured and put on the second. Using a level, you need to align the shelf. Mark the drilling locations with a pencil.
  7. The second holder is attached.

In such a simple way, you can make glass shelves at home.

Shelf from a window sill

The shelf can be given any shape, but you should always remember about the right angle of the base, which will be attached to the wall.

Corner shelf from a window sill profile.

In order to build a shelf, follow the instructions:

  1. The material is marked up.
  2. Using a hacksaw, a shelf is cut out.
  3. Further, with the help of a special rail, which coincides with the profile in thickness and length, the frame is strengthened. To do this, you need to put this material on the Moment glue and fix it to the edge of the profile.
  4. Holes are drilled in the already glued rail.
  5. Self-tapping screws are driven into the wall under the holes already drilled in the shelf. During operation, a level is used.
  6. The open ends of the structure are hidden behind thickly selected cable channels. They are placed on glue.
  7. The shelf is fixed on self-tapping screws.

You can change the color of such a design using various adhesive films, selected for the interior.

Thus, an ordinary profile can easily turn into marble.

Chipboard shelf (plywood, MDF)

The fastening of such shelves is done in several ways. The first one consists in a nozzle on a longitudinal rail-base, the second - in fixing in the grooves of the transverse base.

Scheme of manufacturing a chipboard shelf.

The first method is good because there is no need to drill either tiles or walls:

  1. A shelf is cut out of chipboard. To do this, using a compass, you need to draw a circle, divide it into 4 parts and cut each with a jigsaw or a hacksaw.
  2. The location of the shelves and the size of the required groove are marked on the base rail. The workpieces are applied to the rail, and their width is fixed.
  3. With a fine-toothed saw, cuts are made to the depth of the middle of the rail, and an unnecessary element is removed with a knife.
  4. On the shelf at the corner-base, a section is outlined that needs to be cut out. In area, it is equal to the depth and width of the groove in the rail.
  5. Using a fine-toothed saw, you need to make a cut and remove an unnecessary element according to the marked markings.
  6. Next, the shelves are sanded, and the entry into the grooves is checked.
  7. Using glue, the rail must be fixed to the wall, secured with tape and left for at least an hour.
  8. The shelves are inserted into the already fixed rail without any other fixation.

In this simple way, you can make racks for the living room, bathroom, kitchen, etc.

To make the shelf in the second way, you must first make the grooves, and only then take up the main element:

  1. In two bars, in length equal to the size of the sides of the shelf, using a circular saw, grooves of the required width are formed.
  2. These elements are attached to the wall using self-tapping screws or dowels. Make sure that their caps are completely recessed.
  3. The angle is carefully measured. Measurements are transferred to the material, where the contour of the shelf is drawn.
  4. Using a jigsaw or a file, an element is cut out.
  5. A special tape is used to decorate the edges.
  6. When the shelf is completely ready, it is inserted into the grooves.

Just a few hours, and a beautiful decor element is already in place!

When creating a shelf with his own hands, the master takes into account everything: his ideas, interior, corner features, where this item will be located.

One of the techniques for decorating a room is using shelves. But they are not only a decoration. Much more often they are functional. Shelves are hung on the wall, placed on the floor, some are hung from the ceiling or beams. But best of all - they are easy to make yourself, with your own hands.

Types of shelves in the house

At the place of installation, shelves are wall, floor and hanging. If the floor shelf has a large height - from a meter or more, it is often called a rack. A few words about suspended ones: usually these are decorative structures that hang on a pipe or a specially hammered bracket. This option is popular in those rooms where the heating pipes run under the ceiling: they just ask for something to be hung on them. Shelves in the kitchen and in the bathroom are hung on the pipe: it is convenient there.

They are made of wood, fiberboard, there are glass shelves. The same materials are used as racks, but they are also made of metal, plastics and other completely incredible things - for example, pipes or bottles.

In living rooms, it is not so important what material the shelf is made of. It is important that its design is in the same style as the interior. Even the functionality is not always important: some play an exclusively decorative role. If there is one or two items on them. Their role is to give the interior of the home a special style and color.

Laconic style of apartment decoration and the same laconic shelves in a contrasting color. In this interior, they are the main element. The free space above the sofa is organically filled with shelves to match the walls.

If we talk about shelves in technical rooms - the kitchen and the bathroom, in particular, then the requirements for practicality are almost everywhere added to considerations of aesthetics. Even decorative kitchen shelves should be cleaned well. For shelves in the bathroom, the requirements are generally high: periodically there is very high humidity and materials are required that transfer it without any harm. There are not many of them. It is plastic and stainless steel. They also make bathroom shelves from MDF, but they are normally used with good ones.

Wall shelves

In any room there are places on the wall that you just need to hang something on. After all, most modern furniture occupies only the lower part - sofas, tables, couches. The upper part remains empty and dissonance arises: an overloaded lower part of the room and a half-empty or completely empty upper part. These voids on the walls are organically filled with shelves.

The whole system, and the most "dead" space is used - the angle

Structurally, most of the shelves consist of shelves proper and lintels. But these components are combined into so many options that it is impossible to count. A simple design is good: you can make any shelves yourself. Moreover, these products may be the first self-made things. It's really simple.

How and what to attach

It is not in vain that we start with fasteners. The design of the wall shelf largely depends on the type of attachment. Or maybe it’s the other way around. It depends on what to dance from ...

Traditional hinges

There is a traditional way - on the hinges. It is suitable for wood and fiberboard, any other material that is thick enough to attach. They are screwed onto the side parts with self-tapping screws. Then the distance between the centers of the hinge holes is measured, laid on the wall (watch out for horizontalness). At the marked points, holes are drilled for the dowel, the dowel is inserted and a dowel-nail with a small head is screwed into it, which goes into a loop or bracket (a pin slightly bent upwards). Then a shelf is hung on them.

Not all materials can be drilled. For example, glass shelves. You can't screw anything into them. Fasteners for glass shelves are special: they consist of two parts, between which glass is inserted. Elastic spacers are often fitted between the holders. Bottom fasteners usually have a small clamping screw to secure them in place.

Fasteners for glass shelves

The most popular mount for glass shelves is called "pelican" - for its peculiar shape. He himself looks good, is in different colors. The thickness of the glass it can hold is 8 to 34 mm. You can insert not only glass into it, but also any other material of this thickness. It just looks stylish with glass.

It is easy to make glass shelves on the wall with it: you buy a mount, in a glass workshop you order pieces of glass with processed edges of the required size and shape (or cut it yourself, if you can). The assembly itself remains:

  1. Attach the pelicans to the wall. Two dowels each. The body is collapsible - the decorative cover is removable, and there are two holes in the mounting plate. One in the case is higher, the second is lower. We fixed, put in place a decorative strip.
  2. Glass was inserted.
  3. We tightened the screw. Everything.

There are other forms of similar fasteners. There are several of them in the photo below.

Decorative brackets

Another type of attachment is brackets. They are reliable, some are decorative, and so much so that they themselves are an ornament.

Flush-mounted - unsupported shelves

And the most amazing device for flush mounting. It makes it possible to hide the fasteners. At the end, a seat is cut out for the pin and the holder body, and the shelf is simply put on it.

As you can see, even a simple board or a piece of glass on such mounts is already good. But there is still a sea of all sorts of ideas.

Bookshelves

Strength requirements are imposed on bookshelves: they hold significant weight. Therefore, the fastening and materials and construction must be reliable. Traditionally, book shelves are made of wood, laminated or veneered fiberboard. And then fiberboard with a long span (more than 90 cm) bends over the years.

When planning shelves on the walls for books of your own size, keep in mind that the distance between the supports should not be more than 90 cm. Then, even when fully loaded, it will not bend. And there are two types and varieties of shelves: wall and floor. Both can be angular.

In the simplest case, this is a board fixed in one of the ways. Some options, especially when served correctly, look very good.

And if you have imagination, several boards turn into a very interesting thing, which can even be the main element of the decor. DIY ideas are collected in the photo gallery.

And this is a serious way to expand the space due to the corners between two windows.Nonlinearity - they are always interesting, and on such a shelf you can put books of different heights

Floor-standing bookshelves can be loaded more seriously. Here the forms are different: there are racks to which the shelves are attached. A highlight can be a broken or unusual line of shelves, as well as interesting racks.

This is more like a bookcase or even a wardrobe, but the essence does not change - the original color and interesting small shelves in the central part and the structure looks interesting
A very interesting idea - non-linear shelves and lintels made of thick glass

Suspended

Not very numerous, but original type. The most important thing is that it can be done easily: a few planks, four ropes or two belts and you can get to work.

This is a complex system of blocks ... and the shelves can be at any level Two planks, four ropes and half an hour of time - all that is needed to make this shelf How to make a hanging shelf - graphic step-by-step instructions

To the nursery

While the child is very small, I want functional shelves, but with children's drawings. But where to get such? Do it yourself. Any shelf of the configuration you like can be pasted over with wallpaper on a non-woven base or thick wrapping paper (glued on PVA). After drying, coat twice with water-based varnish. Such shelves can be washed, but what is most interesting is that the shelf can change with the child. Tear off the old decor, glue the new one. The idea is simple, it works perfectly.

For children, the shelves are not very different in design. If we talk about floor or racks, then they must be strong: taking into account the fact that grown-up children will definitely want to climb on them. Therefore, often even those shelves that stand on the floor are attached additionally to the wall so that they do not collapse and crush young climbers. Based on these considerations, they are not made high: even if they fall, it is not scary.

The shelves in the children's room also differ in color - they are brighter, can be made in the form of letters, boxes for toys can be installed in them: it is easier to keep them in order. In general, functionality and security should be combined.

Drawer system - fast cleaning Combination of open and closed shelves - convenient for preschool children

Shelves and shelves in the kitchen

Whatever you say, but the main thing in the kitchen is functionality. There is not much free space even on the walls: lockers take up a large area. Therefore, one of the tasks is to make the most of the free space. There are interesting ideas for small or even very small gaps between the wall and the refrigerator or other household appliances. Strictly in size, you can make a pouch on wheels, which goes out and hides completely there. It is wide and narrow (see photo).

It is not difficult to make such a sliding shelf-rack on wheels for different jars. Everything you need is at hand and does not interfere

There are also interesting ideas for saving space. If a sink or a hundred stand near the window, you can take the sidewalls. There is an interesting hanging option - a lattice on chains, to which all utensils cling. But such a shelf is possible if the desktop is not against the wall. Another option to save space - if the kitchen-dining room is zoned with a counter, you can also make a shelf above it, which will be partially suspended. One part of it rests on the wall, the other - on the counter or "hangs" on the ceiling.

Hanging the entire wall above the desk with lockers is not the best solution. They look heavy. You can solve the problem with glass doors, but not everyone likes it. The way out is to make open shelves between the cabinets. They will give more lightness to the interior and the work area will not put so much pressure on the rest of the space.

Opened shelves and shelves will "lighten" the interior Different style - the same idea Closed and open shelves in one system - convenient and non-standard

Decorative and original

Often, wall shelves play an exclusively decorative role. They are designed to attract attention and this goal is achieved by an unusual form, contrasting with the walls, color. You can't put much on it: one or two things, but how interesting they are.

Another option for "square" shelves. Two identical sets arranged in different ways.If traditional square shelves are decorated with curly frames along the edge, the style turns out to be completely different

Another interesting topic is glass shelves. Just one glass is not very interesting. Its combination with wood and steel is more attractive. The effects are sometimes unexpected. The glass is collected on rails: the material is fragile and heavy and needs to be held. Steel can do it.

Actually, these systems are intended for creating interiors of shops, but also in a modern style apartment or look stylish.

The "vintage" style is also suitable

What shelves are not made of. Even from pipes. Metal and plastic. Remaining images from repairs? Use it in business, and get a designer thing that is interesting, collected from trash.

Such is an interesting variation of a bookshelf made of pipes.

In any room there is a free corner in which you can place a shelf. It will not only become a design element, but also create additional space for storing books, toys, small kitchen utensils, etc.

A suitable option can be found in the store or ordered. But it is better not to spend money, since it is not difficult to make corner shelves with your own hands no worse than factory ones.

Shelf materials

Before starting work, you should decide on the material in accordance with the conditions and interior of the room. Corner shelves are made from the following materials:

  • Solid wood or planks. Scraps left over from repairs will do.
  • Particleboard and MDF boards. Suitable sized pieces are available inexpensively on the market.
  • Multi-layer plywood.
  • Glass with a thickness of at least 5 mm.
  • Plastic.
  • Window sill profile.
  • Metal.

The first 3 options are the most popular, so every home craftsman has the right tool to work with them.

However, there will be no difficulties with others, if the performance of special operations (for example, curly cutting of glass) is ordered in the workshop.

Living room shelves

Wall corner shelves for this room are usually made of wood or its substitutes (plywood, chipboard, MDF). A circle of the required size is drawn on the material with a compass, then it is divided into 4 equal parts, which are cut out with a hacksaw.

To get smooth edges, it is better to use a jigsaw. All 4 sectors can be used to create a multi-tiered shelf. You can simply saw off a corner of the desired size from the material, but then the leading edge will not be semicircular.

For installation in a corner, it is necessary to make slats with grooves. They are fixed to the wall with glue, dowels or self-tapping screws. Then the shelf is inserted into the grooves without additional fastening. Its edges are covered with decorative tape.

The shelf of a rectangular shape in the form of a snake looks original, the tiers of which are alternately attached to adjacent walls.

Kitchen shelves

They are allowed to be made from various materials, but wood or fiberboard is traditionally chosen. Unlike shelves for the living room, these have an extended rectangular shape with curly sidewalls, located at an angle on adjacent walls. You can come up with the shape of the sidewalls yourself or look on the Internet.

Do-it-yourself corner shelf in the kitchen from fiberboard or MDF is made in the following sequence:

  • After measuring the free space, a drawing is drawn up.
  • The sides are cut with a jigsaw. Chipped areas are cleaned with sandpaper. Sections are pasted over with decorative tape.
  • Then, horizontal rectangular beams are cut to connect the sidewalls. The outer cuts are rounded and taped over.
  • Before assembly, through cuts are made in the sidewalls located closer to the corner to the size of the upper crossbars.
  • On the sidewalls, in the attachment points with crossbars, you need to drill a couple of holes for furniture screws.
  • The prepared parts are fastened with screws. Last of all, the upper crossbar is inserted into the slot, fixing it with screws on the outer sidewall.
  • The finished bunk shelf is mounted on the wall using hangers purchased in the store or on the market.

Iconostasis shelf

According to tradition, such a single-tier shelf is placed in the eastern corner of the house. For its manufacture, an array of wood or a wide board is selected.

If the corner shelf for icons will not be decorated with carvings, then the process of making it does not differ from the shelf for the living room. But unlike it, a cornice should be installed on the front in the form of a narrow strip. It is often made curly.

The cornice is attached to the shelf with dowels (wooden pins). Holes are drilled under them in a triangle with a depth of 2-3 cm. After installation, they should protrude outward by 1 cm. Having drilled holes on the cornice, it is fixed on the dowels with glue.

Corner bathroom shelf

A bathroom is a room with high humidity, so a corner shelf made of wood will not last long. But glass and plastic will be just right.

When measuring, it must be borne in mind that the angle may not be right. Therefore, a template should be made from cardboard and a shelf should be cut out from it.

In the case of using glass, it is better to contact a workshop, where any shape will be quickly cut out of it. For fixing the shelf, special holders are ideal, which are sold complete with dowels and self-tapping screws. They are attached to the walls and glass is inserted.

Metal book shelf

An original corner shelf from pieces of water pipes can be made with minimal plumbing skills. In shape, it is similar to a snake, the bends of which alternately go to adjacent walls.

Fragments of pipes of the required length are connected with corner fittings and welded. In the absence of welding, fastening is carried out using screws screwed into the joints of the fittings with the pipes. The finished structure is painted and attached at the lower and upper points to the dowels driven into the wall.
