How to make a flowerpot out of stone. How to make outdoor flower pots with your own hands

Street vases (which are often called flowerpots) greatly adorn the area near the cottage or private cottage. These peculiar flower beds can be installed anywhere: near benches and gates, on stairs, etc.

You can buy such a vase (but it's quite expensive), or you can make it yourself. Moreover, from readily available materials and.

Features of the

We will talk about products that imitate stone ones - they are the ones that look the most stylish and can last a long time. It is very long and difficult to hew out a stone flowerpot, and the costs will be high. It is much easier to cast a vase in cement or plaster mortar. Successfully decorated, it will look no worse than a stone one.

The form into which the solution will be poured can be purchased ready-made - they are sold. Or use available materials for this purpose: boxes, plastic buckets, large cans. More on this later. By the way, I will talk about a technology that does not require the use of a form at all.

 • For a long service, you should select for a solution that gives sufficient water resistance (after all, a street vase will have to successfully withstand more than one winter and summer).
 • products are treated with a moisture-proof composition.

How to make a mortar from cement and concrete, gypsum for such vases, read below.

Composition and structure

Depending on the manufacturing technology, the compositions of the components will be required, slightly (or significantly) differing from each other. Let's take a closer look at three methods of making a vase using a solution.

Method one - a pot of concrete

To get a product that imitates stone well, you need to take:

 • two parts of peat (which can be replaced with either vermiculite);
 • one part (for texture);
 • one part dry fresh cement;
 • water (it is added to the dry mixture until the mass reaches a viscous consistency).

In this version, cardboard boxes can be used as molds for a vase made of concrete (two pieces that fit one into the other with a gap equal to the wall thickness of the future vase). Or any other containers. You can also buy a ready-made plastic mold at a hardware store.

Method two - when the form is not required

This technology was published in one of the Hungarian magazines. Here you do not need to tinker or buy a form - just simple plywood (board) templates are enough for the inner and outer walls. Each of the templates has a semicircular notch, and wire loops are attached to the side.

The composition of the solution used in this technology:

 • dry fresh cement - one part;
 • sand (with coarse or medium grain) - from three to five parts;
 • water - until a sufficiently thick mixture is obtained.

Method three - plaster vase

In this case, we most often need a non-removable form. If the product is small, then, for example, plastic bottles can be used.

A larger flowerpot can be made on the basis of a bucket from building materials, a large tin can or a box.

To make a vase you need:

 • gypsum powder;
 • plaster bandage (can be replaced with strips of fabric, bandage);
 • water - to create a mixture of sour cream density.

How to make a street flower vase from concrete for a summer residence with your own hands, from a solution with rags, cloth and burlap, read below.

Why a concrete vase for the street is better than a plastic one can be seen in this video:

Do it yourself

We will describe in more detail the process of making a flowerpot in each of the three ways.

Concrete product

The main way

The easiest option is to take two boxes as a template. One is smaller, the other is larger. The gap between their walls will be equal to the thickness of our future vase.

A smaller box is wrapped with a net and then inserted into a large box, on the bottom of which cement is pre-poured with a layer of three to five centimeters.

 1. Now we prepare the solution by mixing cement, sand and peat (or expanded clay).
 2. We add water so much that we get not a liquid mass, but a mixture that molds well.
 3. We fill the space between the boxes with this mixture and leave it for a couple of days.
 4. Then we take out the smaller box (after checking first whether the solution has hardened), and cut the larger one and also remove it.

Nuances are important

If you don't want to drill the necessary drainage holes in hard concrete (which requires a special stone drill), you can do it easier. Before pouring the solution, insert several tubes with a height equal to the thickness of the walls and bottom (usually about five centimeters).

Having cleaned the sharp edges of the product with a stiff brush, they begin decorating. For example, painting. We sand all the irregularities well and cover the surface with durable paint for outdoor use. If you want to get a product of a light shade, then first apply a layer of white paint.

By the way, you can color the solution itself by adding iron oxide pigment to it. It has good durability, but the choice of shades is small.

Cement sample according to Hungarian technology

 1. We release a flat place on the site and put a sheet there (you can replace it with thick polyethylene, tin, and so on).
 2. Pour a mixture of sand and cement into the center (from three to one to five to one), stir well, lay it out with a slide and make a hole on top.
 3. Slowly pour water into this hole until a thick mixture is obtained,.
 4. Now we will act like potters. We stick a metal rod into the center, to which we attach the first template on wire hinges - for the inner walls.
 5. We begin to rotate it, resulting in a hemisphere. We cover it with thin polyethylene, and then apply the next layer of the mixture, smoothing it with a trowel.
 6. Then there will be a reinforcing layer (plastic or metal mesh), again a layer of cement mixture. It's time to use the second template, which gives the look to the outside of the vase.
 7. After that, the rod can be removed (by the way, a drainage hole is just forming), and the vase can be allowed to dry for five days to a week. At this time, it is useful to put damp rags on it.

Sometimes, to accelerate hardening, gypsum is made instead of cement mortar (from three to four parts of lime mortar plus one part of gypsum). To prevent lumps, gypsum is first poured into the water, then lime mortar is added.

Plaster vases

Method number 1

 1. The selected shape (box, jar, bucket) for a concrete flower vase is placed on a flat covered with oilcloth.
 2. The glossy surface (if present) is sanded for better adhesion.
 3. Wrap the surface with plaster bandages (or ordinary bandages or strips of cloth soaked in a plaster solution of sour cream density).
 4. After the walls have reached the required thickness, the workpiece is put to dry.

You can do it easier and faster, without long-term winding of bandages. Taking a piece of any dense fabric (jersey is well suited for this purpose) and fasten it to the form. Using glue or tailor pins. Then we apply gypsum (preferably decorative) diluted to a liquid consistency in several layers. Let it dry, make out.

Method number 2

Another way:

 1. We take a plastic ten-liter bucket (we will then pull it out) and weave it with a wire, making a frame.
 2. We cover this frame inside (and then outside) with strips of fabric soaked in a gypsum solution of sour cream density.
 3. We lay the fabric until the walls of the desired thickness are obtained.
 4. Then we dry (with a wall thickness of two centimeters, the process will take twelve hours) and decorate.

You can simply paint the plaster product (first by applying a layer of white acrylic paint for the primer, then any of your choice). Or, before dyeing (or varnishing), you can glue lace (gives a very beautiful effect), buttons, small twigs. From above, acrylic varnish intended for external use will give protection.

The following video will teach you how to make a high-strength concrete vase:

Decorating a courtyard, garden or summer cottage is a fascinating and long-term business, and also requires decent material costs. To save money, many things for decorating a garden / plot can be done by hand. This time we will talk about how to make outdoor flowerpots. Let's take a closer look at the manufacturing process from two materials - wood and concrete. These are the most flexible and inexpensive materials from which you can make very good things.

Wooden flowerpots

Wood may not be the best choice for making outdoor flowerpots, but it is very affordable, plastic, easy to process. Because, probably, and popular. Wooden outdoor flowerpots can be made from scraps of boards, moisture-resistant plywood, beams, tree trunks, stumps, old barrels and tubs.

From boards and plywood

If you want the flowerpot to retain its color for a long time and not turn gray, but you don’t want to paint it with some covering paint (such as oil paint), you will need to buy wood oil. It gives the wood a hue, but leaves visible the pores (like a stain). Along the way, this oil, as it were, "preserves" it, protects it from fungi, insects, and mold.

The easiest way is to make flowerpots from rectangular or square boards. It is necessary to cut several pieces of the same length, put together a box from them, nail the bottom.

To prevent the bottom of such a flowerpot from blooming, it must be raised on its legs. In the simplest version, four small pieces of board can be nailed to the bottom, in the corners. If you wish, you can try to make more decorative legs (as in the photo above).

When nailing boards, do not try to knock down the planks very tightly. When watering, they will swell and, if nailed close, they can lift. However, it is not worth leaving very large gaps - the ground can wake up through the bottom.

Another way to make an outdoor flower pot made of wood is to cut off four identical pieces of a small section of 25-25 mm timber, for example). Use the bars as the edges of the structure, nail the boards to them, attach the bottom from below. This option is good because such flowerpots immediately have legs.

By the same principle, you can make a flowerpot from moisture-resistant plywood. Cut the sides out of it, attach them to the bars. Instead of nails, self-tapping screws are usually used for wood, and you will also need a drill. Before screwing the self-tapping screw, drill a hole. Apply the sidewall to the stand from a bar, drill, stepping back 1 cm from the edge. Drill diameter - 1-2 mm less than the diameter of the self-tapping screw. So, firstly, the bar will not burst, and secondly, it is easier to fit the fasteners into the plywood. Instead of wooden corners, you can take metal, preferably stainless steel.

The next option for a flowerpot is made of wooden beams (photo below). It is still easier here - they fold the beam so that the connection is in one plane, then in another. After laying each bar, it is nailed to the ones below. Be sure to drive in nails in the corners, on the long side you can also nail it once or twice.

It's simple. Difficulties can arise only with the first row. It can be fastened to a bottom, such as a piece of waterproof plywood that has been drilled into it to drain water, knocked out of planks.

Any of these flowerpots can be combined with. It will turn out to be a wonderful corner for relaxation. Such a group can be placed in the garden, near the entrance, somewhere on the site, near or a homemade small one.

From stumps and logs

In the garden or in the summer cottage, you have to periodically cut down old trees. From their stumps and trunks, you can also make outdoor flowerpots. First, let's talk about how to use the barrels. It is better not to peel the bark, so the view of the flowerpots will be more decorative. Depending on the idea, the trunks are cut into blocks of some height. You can cut with an ordinary hand saw, but faster with a chainsaw. These blocks can be placed while standing, can be laid on their side.

The main task is to remove some of the wood so that a container is formed that can be filled with earth. There are several methods for coring. Usually they take a drill and a large diameter drill. A conical drill or a spatula (as in the photo) works better.

Make some holes to the depth you need. It depends on the type of plants that you plan to plant in this pot, but usually 15-20 cm. You can make a lot of holes - the thinner the walls are, the easier it is to remove them.

The walls are destroyed by a chisel or wide chisel. The handle of these tools is knocked on with a hammer, and the sharp blade breaks off pieces. So, gradually, the core is released. Then the edges of the resulting container are slightly leveled using the same technique.

If the stump is large in diameter, an ax or pickaxe can be used. You just need to work carefully so as not to destroy the walls. Near the walls, you can use a drill, finally arrange the inside of the flowerpot with the same chisel.

Another option is to make some notches with an ax, crumble wood, and make a fire inside. But whether it will be possible to extinguish it in time is a question. The charred entrails are then removed with a chisel or chisel.

By the way, very interesting compositions can turn out from a very old and rotten deck. It is cleaned of very crumbling wood. In this case, the inside is very easy to pick out - the inside of the trunk is the first to decay. What is left can be coated with wood oil, stopping the destruction for a period of time.

Such hollowed-out decks or stumps make excellent flowerpots. Some design ideas are collected in the photo gallery.

An interesting fence around the lawn - flowerpots made of stumps simply alternate with decks Chornobrivtsy - unpretentious flowers with a long flowering period Primroses will bloom in stumps earlier - they get more sun and are higher from the cold ground And even a stump, on a spring day ...

From barrels-tubs and other cooperage products

The easiest way is to make outdoor flowerpots from old barrels, tubs and other containers that are no longer used and cannot be used due to old age, but it is a pity to throw them away. They can be slightly sanded with sandpaper - by hand or by attaching a corresponding nozzle to a drill / grinder. Then they can be painted, varnished for outdoor use or oil for wood. And you can plant plants.

Barrels are sawn, and in any plane. But if you cut along, you will have to hammer the planks together. The barrels cut across are two identical (or almost) flowerpots.

Even old wood can be left untreated. This makes the composition look more natural. But such a flowerpot will not fit into all styles. In this case, use a special paint for outdoor use, which can be used to work on wood.

Outdoor plastic flowerpot with wood paneling

If outwardly you like wood, but want to have an airtight container to avoid drips on the site after watering, you can paste over the plastic container with wooden slats. The planks are treated with antiseptics, painted, dried. Then you can start converting the plastic container (bucket, tank, barrel) into a flowerpot for outdoor flowers.

First, holes are drilled in the bottom. Out diameter - 10-14 mm. Leave the two opposite areas at the edges intact. Here we attach the "legs" - two strips, cut so that they do not protrude beyond the outline of the barrel. You can attach it to the bolts, drill a hole under the head so that the fastener is "recessed".

We take a universal glue that is suitable for gluing plastic and wood, and glue the strips onto it. The narrower the planks, the more monolithic the surface will be. Such outdoor flowerpots do not shrink or swell.

Homemade concrete flower pots

The good thing about concrete is that it can be poured into any shape. Plastic, glass, metal, wooden, clay vessels and even cardboard boxes will do.

It is most convenient to work with plastic - it is easy to take out of it. It is even easier with glass, but such forms are usually disposable. It didn't work out - they are broken.

What concrete to use

For the manufacture of outdoor flowerpots, you can use ordinary concrete, consisting of cement and sand in a ratio of 1: 3/4 (Portland cement grade not lower than M 400 and river clean sieved sand). The surface of such a flowerpot will be monochromatic, gray. In some cases, it looks stylish, and the gray color does not distract attention from the main one - from the colors. But not always.

products from decorative concrete look more interesting. It is also called artistic, art, architectural, acrylic, polymer - concrete. All this designation of the same product. In addition to cement and sand, architectural concrete contains polymer additives, small fragments of natural minerals, and some contain dyes. The surface of a flowerpot made of decorative concrete turns out to be smoother, more interesting, interspersed with natural stones. The specific type depends on the selected composition. Some types of decorative concrete are shown in the photo below.

What to make molds for pouring a concrete flowerpot

Any shape can be used, from almost any material. It is important that it does not get wet and keep its shape for 4-5 hours. Then the concrete grasps and already holds itself. Therefore, molds are made even from dense packaging cardboard, gluing coal well and tightening them with adhesive tape. But from caron, you can make forms only for small flowerpots - for a small group of plants. But the form can be any.

Actually, two forms are needed - one to form the outer surface, the second - of a much smaller size - is inserted inside the first and forms a zone into which the soil is then poured and plants are planted. The inner shape is selected based on the dimensions of the planned flowerpot, but the wall thickness should not be less than 3 cm.

You can use plastic bowls, glasses, containers, trays, flasks from under the water - large and small. You can knock down a shape from boards, plywood, pieces of other sheet material. It does not matter. Anything, anything that comes to mind to use.

Is there an interesting bowl or bowl? Will do too. And for the formation of the internal volume, you can find something heavy, preferably of the correct shape, but this is absolutely not important. Even a bowling ball will do. It is good because it is heavy and smooth - you can take it out easily.

Metal bowl and bowling ball - makes a great flower pot

Round flowerpots look best, but finding the right shape is not easy. Usually these are either plastic containers or glass balls, which are cut / shattered after the concrete has set.

Manufacturing process

It is only possible to work with cement at temperatures above +5 ° C. Ideal conditions are + 20 ° C and high humidity, but temperature is more important. The place where you will leave the concrete to "ripen" should be in the shade.

You found suitable forms, mixed the cement. It should not be too liquid, not too thick. It should not drip from a spatula or spatula, but not so dry that you can blind something from it.

It is necessary to work with gloves - concrete corrodes hands very quickly. You need a spatula or something similar to spread the solution, a long thin stick or a metal rod to remove air. You will also need either a large container of water or a piece of plastic wrap.

We take forms, process them with some kind of lubricant. This is necessary in order to easily remove the flowerpot from the mold. You can use the following drugs:

 • Non-stick cooking spray. Harmless and effective.
 • Special sprays for concrete. They cost much more, but the effectiveness is the same.
 • Motor oil.
 • Universal grease VD-40.

Maybe other formulations work, but these are verified.

We process the forms with one of the compositions. The big one is inside, the small one is outside. Pour the solution into a large form on the bottom with a layer of 3-4 cm, level it. This will be the bottom. If you want to have drainage holes in the bottom, insert pieces of tubing. You can use metal, cut them into pieces 3-4 cm long, also treat the outside with grease. In this case, the thickness of the bottom should be equal to the height of these tubes. And place them strictly under the bottom of the second form.

We put the second form on the solution. If it is light, we fill it with small stones, crushed stone, pebbles, sand. Fill the gaps between the two walls with mortar. If the material permits, we knock on the walls with a hammer, then take a rod or a thin stick, pierce the solution to the bottom, swing it from side to side. During these actions - knocking and piercing - air bubbles come out of the concrete, it settles down a little. This procedure can be repeated a couple of times. Then we take some smooth object (a spoon, for example), sprinkle it with grease and level the top of the wall. try to make the side as even as possible - then it's hard to do something with it.

Cover the mold filled with concrete with a piece of polyethylene and leave it in this form for at least a day. After a day, the form can be removed, but you cannot use the flowerpot yet. It can be dipped in a container of water and left there for a week. Another option is to cover with foil and sprinkle with water three or four times a day. Spray generously until dark. Remember to cover with plastic every time. After about 10-14 days, you can start planting plants. That's all, now you can do concrete street flowerpots with your own hands.

Finishing a concrete flowerpot

If you don't like the surface of the flowerpot, you can decorate it. Do not make the flowerpot too bright. It is just a background for flowers and greenery that will be planted in it. There are traditional methods - painting, there are more exotic ones - decoration with mosaics, pieces of broken ceramic tiles or pebbles.

When painting, choose a paint that is suitable for concrete, pre-prime the surface (so that the paint adheres better and does not flake off).

For finishing with tiles or pebbles, a layer of tile adhesive (for outdoor use) with a thickness of 5-6 mm is laid on the surface, and pebbles are pressed into it. It is necessary to work carefully, to erase the traces of glue on the pebbles with a rhinestone - it will not be removed later.

The finished flowerpot is left to dry until the glue dries (the time is indicated on the package). The joints can then be trowelled using a standard tile grout. It is inconvenient to work, the gaps between the stones are too narrow. You can try using thin plastic strips or narrow tile joints.

Vases from building concrete blocks

Hollow concrete blocks with large cells are suitable for planting plants. Soil is poured into the cells, flowers are planted. You can lay out a whole wall from such blocks. The recipe is simple but very effective.

Low and wide bowl - can be made from a basin

The countryside is more finished and well-groomed. Similar items today can be easily purchased in specialized garden stores and centers. You can also try to make such a product with your own hands. We will consider the last option and tell you the order and various options for creating a beautiful decoration for the garden with our own hands. Go!..

Making a flowerpot from a stump

To create a decorative ornament using a stump, the first step, of course, will need to find the most suitable tree for this. This can be either just a small driftwood found in the forest, or a thick base of a tree, cut with your own hands. It is important to understand that the decorativeness of the finished element will largely depend on the texture and shape of the selected wood species.

All work starts with determination of dimensions street flowerpot. Experts do not recommend taking a height of more than 40 centimeters. The surplus is simply cut out with a chainsaw. With this approach, the bark of the wood is not damaged, and the appearance of the element will remain as natural as possible. In addition, you will get the most even cut, which is also good.

A circle is outlined on the surface of the sawn stump. After that, a taper drill is taken and the inside is completely drilled out. In this case, it is important to adhere to the correct order: first, small holes with a depth of about 10 cm are made around the perimeter, then with the help of a mechanical chisel the inner contents of the stump are knocked out, where the final surface treatment is performed with an ordinary chisel.

The future flowerpot is covered from the inside stain... For this, as a rule, a paint brush is used. It is important to treat all areas without leaving gaps! If desired, you can use various decorative products for decoration.

Finished blocks of wood are attached to the already processed and dried bottom. It is best if you use a saw cut of the same diameter for this. From the inside, parts of a single circle are attached with a construction stapler. The new row is placed in such a way that the seam looks displaced. The rows themselves are also fastened with a stapler.

In the end, it remains only to place a plastic or clay container of a suitable size inside, and plant the flowers you like in the poured earth.

DIY concrete flowerpot

With the use of cement and other components, a flowerpot can be made both large and not very large.

Large

For a large composition, a plastic mold with a height and diameter of 23 and 53 centimeters, respectively, will be required.

The concrete mix is harvested from a couple of parts of high-moor peat and part of perlite. Capacities can be measured using a 1.5 liter bucket. The 3-component composition is diluted with water until a thick consistency is formed.

Since the finished concrete flowerpot will turn out to be quite heavy, it is recommended to create it immediately in the right place.

First of all, to create a street flowerpot made of concrete, we take a plastic pot, which will act as a form. On its surface even layer, the film is lined. It is important that it be straightened, otherwise ugly folds may form on the surface of the frozen form!

First, the cement mass is laid out on the bottom of the pot. In this case, the thickness of the layer should not exceed 4-5 cm. It is convenient to measure the thickness of the layers with toothpicks or simple matches.

It will be possible to increase the strength characteristics of a large product due to reinforcing structure, which can be the wire frame. Part of the increase in strength will be due to the crushed fiberglass added to the solution.

Since we are making a large flowerpot, it will not be easy to knead the volume of concrete with our own hands. Based on this, it is more correct to knead the mixture fractionally. In the process of work, 4-5 batches may be required.

Do not forget about the drainage hole, which is made due to the film, wrapped in foil, pre-installed at the bottom of the pot.

If desired, flowerpots can be made and multicolored... For this purpose, the concrete solution is divided into parts, into which various dyes are subsequently added. The multi-colored compositions are added in turn, resulting in a beautiful and unique element.

After finishing laying the mixture, the structure is covered with a film for 10 days. During this time, the concrete should finally harden and harden. However, if the structure begins to dry out too quickly, then the product will have to be additionally moistened.

The item is verified after 8 days. For this purpose, the walls of the flowerpot are tapped. A dull sound will indicate that the product is ready and can be removed from the mold.

The next step is to clean the walls with a metal brush, which removes the resulting irregularities. In the case of a surface that is too smooth, the opposite effect occurs, due to which the walls are made more textured.

After that, the element is washed and dried. Finally, it is re-placed under the film for further hardening.

After 1-2 weeks, the concrete becomes lighter. After that, you just have to remove the film and place the street flowerpot in its rightful place.

Little

With the help of a concrete composition, small structures for flowers are also excellently made. In this case, absolutely any shape is used, be it dishes, vases for vegetables and fruits, basins, buckets and even flower pots. The order of work remains the same.

Shaped leg design

To make this kind of product with your own hands, the following composition is used: 2 parts of high-moor peat and one part of vermiculite with gray cement.

The base is played by a 5-liter plastic bottle, cut at the required height, and a wire frame from the fan.

The frame is covered with foil. To prevent the composition from leaving between the rods too much, you will have to apply 3 layers of material. Once the mixture has hardened, you will have an interesting carved surface. In the end, the product will only have to be processed a little with a metal brush and the street flowerpot with a leg will be almost finished.

Styrofoam

Polyfoam is one of the most common materials, and therefore often the owners of a country dwelling ask themselves the question: "How to make an outdoor flowerpot from polystyrene with your own hands?"

The first step for the walls is to cut out rectangular blanks. In the future, they are held together with an adhesive composition. After that, the walls of the container are treated with several layers of plaster. At the same time, reinforcement with a plastic mesh is performed.

After drying, the walls are cleaned of irregularities. The next step is painting work.

At the end, by means of decorative plaster, it is applied finishing layer, thanks to which the flowerpot will look like it is poured out of a concrete mixture.

From sticks

Obviously, in this case, thin sticks are required for a street flowerpot. An excellent solution can be ice cream sticks, which will be applied to wooden blocks.

In this way, 4 sides are created, after which they are glued on both sides.

The finished surface is processed. As a result of such actions, we get a small decorative element for planting flowers.

Multi-tiered structures made of silicate blocks

This option will look as unique and effective as possible in the suburban area, interestingly transforming the most boring vegetation.

The place formed inside the silicate blocks is perfect for planting and growing various plants and flowers. It is worth noting that some manufacturers today even began to specially manufacture hollow elements intended for the arrangement and variety of suburban areas.

When using silicate blocks in order to create a street flowerpot with your own hands, you should thoroughly think over the design of the future landscape element in advance so that it remains as stable as possible and allows you to place the plants necessary for planting inside. After that, the necessary material is bought.

Do not forget about the drainage, through which excess water will be removed. In addition, the base must also remain reliable and sturdy.

The base is glued to the first silicate blocks. After that, the whole structure is assembled. The blocks are fixed with glue.

Thus, tier by tier gradually develops. For greater strength, the first rows should be filled with soil.

Using car tires

Almost any waste materials are perfect for decorating a summer cottage. In our case, an old car tire will be used. Before you start creating a beautiful flowerpot, you need to accurately determine the size of the workpiece. For carved structures, it is best to take non-studded winter rubber, which would have a small thickness and softness.

The finished element will look somewhat like a flower. First of all, chalk jumping is outlined on the side of the tire.

Adhering to the drawing, the details are carefully cut out with a boot knife or jigsaw. You can learn more about the stages of work in the video below.

After the petals are cut, small longitudinal cuts are made in 5-10 centimeters increments. Subsequently, they will greatly facilitate the eversion of the tire.

Obviously, it will be physically difficult to turn the tire out, but after turning out at least one side, the work is significantly accelerated.

In the end, you just need to decorate the flowerpot somehow. In addition to the method discussed, today there are many other variations using a car tire.

From a plastic barrel

Using a 150-liter barrel, you can make several containers at once. In this case, it is necessary to make a outline in the middle, according to which the sawing will take place with a jigsaw.

After the edge, the barrels are processed with special toolto avoid unpleasant burrs.

The finished workpiece is sheathed externally with an overlap or end-to-end wooden planks. In this case, the nails must be driven in with a special tool, where sharp edges are bent from the inside with a hammer.

The upper part is covered with planks located at a certain angle. Fixation is achieved with glue and nails.

In the future, the wooden surface can be painted in any color or simply varnished. On this, the flowerpot will be ready.

Decorative flowerpots will complete your garden design. They can be purchased at garden centers or made with your own hands. Consider ways to make a flowerpot with your own hands from various materials.

Do-it-yourself stump pot

To make a street flowerpot from a stump with your own hands, you first need to choose a suitable tree. This can be a thick stem or a small driftwood. The decorativeness of the flowerpot depends on the shape of the tree and the texture of its surface.

They begin to make a flowerpot with their own hands with the definition sizes... The optimal height is forty centimeters. The excess is cut off with a chainsaw. In this case, an even cut is obtained and the bark, which decorates the surface of the future flowerpot, is not damaged.

A circle is marked on the surface of the hemp. Internal content drilled out using a cone-shaped drill. First, holes are made ten centimeters deep around the entire perimeter, then the wood is knocked out with a mechanical chisel and the walls are finished with an ordinary chisel.

The inner surface of such a garden flowerpot is processed stain... To do this, the composition is poured into a small glass and applied with a paint brush to all surfaces of the product, trying not to leave unpainted areas. Additionally, you can use various decorative elements.

The resulting chumps nail down to the dried and processed bottom. For it, you can use a saw cut suitable in diameter. Parts of one circle are connected to each other with a construction stapler from the inside. The next row is placed so that the seams are constantly displaced. The rows are also connected with a stapler.

From cement with the addition of other components, you can make both large flowerpots for flowers with your own hands, and relatively small ones.

To make a large flowerpot you will need plastic mold with parameters 53 cm in diameter and 23 cm in height.

Solution we make from two parts of white cement, one part of perlite (agroperlite) and two parts of high-moor peat. You can take a one and a half liter bucket as a measuring container. A mixture of three components is diluted with water until a thick mass is obtained.

Since such a flowerpot will be quite heavy, it is better to do it right away in a permanent place.

To make a pot of cement with your own hands, we take a plastic pot, which is a form, and line it with a thin film. The cellophane must be straightened so that incomprehensible folds are not imprinted on the surface.

First, spread the solution to the bottom. The layer should be about four or five centimeters thick. Matches or toothpicks are great for controlling the thickness.

To increase the strength of such a large product, you can install metal wire frame or other reinforcing structure. You can add about a handful of chopped fiberglass to it to strengthen the composition. Since the flowerpot is large enough, and it is difficult to knead large volumes of cement composition with your hands, you will have to do it fractionally. It will take about four or five batches.

Do not forget when making garden flowerpots with your own hands and about drain hole... It is made by placing a cork wrapped in a film on the bottom.

You can make this pot multicolored... For this, the cement mixture is divided into parts. Various dyes are added to them. The multi-colored mixture is placed on the inner surface one by one, which makes the finished container colorful.

After the entire surface is lined with the mixture, the product is closed cellophane film and leave for about ten days. During this time, the cement mixture will harden and gain strength. If the product dries out too quickly, it will need to be moistened.

After eight days, check the readiness. To do this, tap on the surface of the cement. If the sound is not deaf, then the flowerpot is removed from the mold along with the film.

After brushing, the flowerpot is washed with water and slightly dried. Further, his words are wrapped in film so that the mixture continues to harden.

After about a week or two, the material will take on a lighter shade. This is a sign that it is time to remove the film, and put the flowerpot in its final place.

Small flowerpots made of cement

From such a cement mixture, you can make small flowerpots with your own hands. For them, take any form. These can be old fruit vases, flower pots and buckets, basins and dishes. Manufacturing technology is the same as for a large flowerpot.

Flowerpot on a leg with a curly surface

To make such a flowerpot with your own hands, use a mixture of the following components. Take one part of gray cement, one part of vermiculite and two parts of high-moor peat.

As a basis, they take a wire fan frame and a five liter plastic bottle that is cut to the correct height.

The fan frame is lined with foil. It will take three layers so that the mixture does not squeeze too much between the rods. After the mixture hardens, you get the original carved surface. It only needs to be lightly brushed with a metal brush and the do-it-yourself cement pot is almost ready.

Flowerpots from car tires. Step by step instructions

To decorate a personal plot, you can also use practically junk materials, for example, old car tires. To make flowerpots from tires with your own hands, you should choose the source material of the desired size. Winter studless rubber, which is softer and thinner, is best suited for carving.

Consider how to make a flowerpot out of tires with your own hands, similar to a flower. To do this, first draw a contour with chalk on the side of the tire.

When the petals are cut into the tire, small longitudinal cuts are made. They are located at a distance of five or ten centimeters from each other and facilitate the process of everting the tire.

It is not easy to turn the product out. This requires physical effort, but after even a small area is turned out, the process accelerates.

After that, it remains only to decorate the finished product. There are other options for making flowerpots from tires with your own hands.

DIY plastic barrel garden pot

From a large barrel of one hundred and fifty liters, two containers can turn out at once. To do this, in the middle of the barrel, the place of the cut is marked, along which they are sawn into two parts. jigsaw.

The edgesprocessed with a special tool so that there are no burrs.

Outside, two are attached to the bottom. barto make the pot easier to move.

The resulting workpiece is sheathed wooden planks... They can be positioned end-to-end or overlapped.

Nails are driven in with a special pistol. From the inside, they are bent with a hammer.

Upper rim made from planks connected at an angle. Fasten it with nails and glue.

The wood trim can be varnished or painted in a suitable color. The pot is ready, you can plant flowers in it.

Vases made of silicate blocks with several tiers

This design option looks impressive and makes even the most familiar plants unusual.

The cavities inside the blocks are great for planting and growing plants. Some manufacturers have even started to produce special hollow elements for landscaping.

To make outdoor flowerpots from silicate blocks with your own hands, you should think over the designso that it is stable and has enough space for plants. Further, the necessary material is acquired.

The blocks must contain drainage, so that excess water goes away. The base is chosen strong enough.

The base is glued to the bottom of the silicate blocks. Then the structure is assembled from the resulting elements. The blocks are connected to each other using glue.

Gradually building the tiers, it is necessary to fill the lower ones with earth.

Small flowerpots made of sticks

For work you will need thin sticksfor example from ice cream. They are glued to wooden cubes.

By repeating the processes, three more sides are made.

Then sticks are glued on top from both sides.

The surface of the resulting container is sanded and painted.

It turns out a small flowerpot in which a container with flowers is placed.

DIY styrofoam pot

Polyfoam is a common material and people are often interested in how to make a flowerpot with their own hands from it.

First cut out rectangular blanks for walls that are glued together with self-tapping screws. Then the container is covered plaster mix in several layers reinforced with plastic mesh. When the mixture is dry, the surface is cleaned from irregularities. The next stage is painting. After that, a finishing layer of decorative plaster is applied. The product looks like it is cast from concrete.

A pot from a pallet. Master Class

You can make a garden pot with your own hands from wooden pallet. To do this, it is carefully disassembled into boards.

All boards with a length of 80cm are cut in half. Boards 120cm long, mark them into three 38cm pieces and cut them, making a beveled cut at an angle of thirty degrees.

We connect boards with oblique cuts using self-tapping screws. It turns out a hexagon. We attach a leg to each of its boards.

Similarly, we collect the second hexagon.

We collect the bottom of the flowerpot. To do this, we attach a transverse board between the legs. We put the bottom boards on it and fasten them to the edges of the hexagon with self-tapping screws.

It turns out a solid structure, which should be treated with an antiseptic. You can decorate it in any way.

When ennobling a plot of a country house or summer cottage, you can use different techniques of landscape design. Some people like rockeries, others just need to decorate the space with small details. Take for example a flowerpot: filled with flowering plants, it looks unique. At the same time, this product can be made by hand: we understand the intricacies of the process.

Views

A concrete flowerpot is a decorative vase of a small architectural form, which can be made of different materials. This is a beautiful pot for plants and flowers. It helps gardeners in the cultivation of especially sensitive plants, allows you to choose the optimal soil composition for each of them. It carries a flowerpot and a decorative load: through it, you can place bright accents in the landscape space, emphasizing the uniqueness of the garden.

The existing varieties are divided into several categories. Vases are:

 • street (garden);
 • indoor;
 • decorative.

Each type has its own characteristics, although in general the properties of the varieties are identical: the difference lies in the size, the material used in each particular case. For example, flower girls for summer cottages are often medium-sized.

If the landscape space is large, you can use street varieties for flowers: they are larger, often higher, so the plants in them often hang down, creating an indescribable atmosphere of antiquity.

Decorative models are smaller, they are displayed at the entrance, they are a kind of component to give the landscape the desired atmosphere to the interior. Small variants are often moved around, so they are mobile. Large models often resemble flower beds, differing in shallow depth.

Materials (edit)

The main material in creating a flowerpot is concrete. This composition consists of:

 • rubble;
 • sand;
 • cement;
 • water;
 • special additives.

The binding component is Portland cement, which includes the eponymous clinker, gypsum, slag, ash, pozzolans and other mineral inclusions. Other types of Portland cement are expanded clay concrete (crushed stone is replaced with expanded clay), or sand concrete (the function of aggregates is performed by sand of different grades). The water for mixing the composition can be different: drinking, ground, technical, sea (not suitable for reinforced concrete flowerpots).

In addition to the main raw materials, auxiliary and decorative ones are used in the work. The first category includes improvised means with which you can make a flowerpot. These are various items that can be used as a flowerpot shape, as well as a weight that allows you to achieve the desired thickness of the product. Some of the most interesting and unexpected solutions include:

 • large and small empty food boxes;
 • used plastic bottles and buckets left over from repairs;
 • old basins, buckets, tubs;

 • rubber gloves for cleaning (high density);
 • wooden boards, cardboard, dishes;
 • metal rods, wire;
 • old towels, rags or other fabric of a rectangular, square, round, oval shape;
 • old shoes, children's toys of the right size;
 • boxes from furniture that have fallen into disrepair.

Small stones are mainly used as a load: due to their size, they perfectly fill the internal part necessary to shape the flowerpot, and are also oppression with a low weight. This raw material can be found in any garden or area of a country house. If you have problems finding it, you can use sand, which is also heavy with a small volume.

If there is no sand on the site, you can use part of the dry cement composition for work, hermetically packing it in several plastic bags before the work process.

The decorative elements of a concrete vase depend on the stylistic idea. In the classic version, the flowerpot may not have a decor at all: the bet can be made on the unusual shape, because the abundance of decor does not always look harmonious with flowers or other plants that will be in the flowerpot. The most interesting raw materials for decoration are glass, coins, small multi-colored stones, rhinestones, mirror shards, stained glass and paints.

Connoisseurs of creativity use natural materials in their work, conveying the unique texture (for example, green leaves) of the concrete surface.

Sizes and shapes

The shape of the flowerpot today does not obey any standards. It is not limited in size, a concrete flower vase can be:

 • small, resembling an ordinary flower pot;
 • medium size, being one of the identical products for a flower arrangement;
 • large - a bright accent of the garden area.

At the same time, dimensions vary from 20 cm or more. Some varieties can be more than 1 meter in length and 60–120 cm wide.

The shape of the products is divided into the usual classic and non-standard. The first category includes concrete flowerpots of geometric shapes (round, square, rectangular, hexagonal, octagonal, oval varieties).

The second group cannot be confused with anything - flowerpots can be presented in the form:

 • silhouette of a fairy-tale character;
 • parts of the sculpture (for example, it can be hands holding flowers);
 • pairs of hearts of different sizes;
 • openwork stone bowl;
 • corrugated vase;

 • stars with a different number of ends and a round base;
 • a man's shoe, a boot or an elegant woman's shoe;
 • an adorable kitten, lamb or other animal;
 • wicker basket with a long handle;
 • iris flower, lotus;
 • stylization under the magic totem.

However, the complexity of creation may not lie in experience, but in a lack of patience. Any product can be made independently at a professional level. The process involves:

 • availability of the necessary raw materials, finishing, sketch (for complex models);
 • preparation of a solution of the desired consistency;
 • adherence to process technology;
 • keeping the allotted time for drying the concrete base;
 • shape correction (for washed concrete options);
 • decorating or painting a flowerpot.

Required tools and mixtures

For the work process, which is carried out in the summer, not so many materials will be needed, if you decide in advance on the appearance, think over the raw materials, decor and frame. Depending on the specific case, cement, sand or a ready-made mixture is used. Water and composition should always be at hand: sometimes the composition turns out to be dense, so it needs to be brought to the desired consistency

In other cases, the mass should not flow, this is necessary for models that perform like sculptural modeling.

If the sand is not uniform, a special sieve may be needed for the job. It is preferable to choose cement not less than M-400. Such a composition will work well, it will not cause difficulties in the process of work. In addition to him, you may need:

 • polyethylene film;
 • frame raw materials (what will serve as a base or form);
 • ready-made stencils, anti-stencils;
 • gloves, spatula;
 • metal pipe (for drainage);
 • container for mixing concrete;
 • non-stick spray (VD-40 grease or engine oil);
 • paints and brushes, as well as a knife for cutting and adjusting the pattern.

Some DIYers even use tile adhesive left over after laying wall or floor tiles. Due to perfectly balanced proportions and uniformity, such material mixes well with other components without forming lumps.

Everyone chooses the finishing independently: one just needs to decorate the surface with pebbles of different shapes, leaving the dominant place of decor to live flowers. Others set up work to demonstrate design skills by decorating surfaces with carvings, such as Native American themes. Moreover, the plants in this tandem look no less stylish.

How to: step-by-step master class

Whichever model you come up with, the manufacturing process will follow roughly the same processes. The difference may lie in the number of steps: the more complex the product, the more there are. This is especially true for products that require sculpting. To analyze the essence of the work, consider the general technology, and then several options for making a stylish concrete flowerpot. This will allow you to understand why the steps in the master classes are different.

The solution is kneaded in a consistency, as for laying tiles: the mass does not spread, while it is not thick. If the composition is planned to be impregnated, it must be more liquid, otherwise it will not be able to completely saturate the desired form. More often, two containers are used to give the desired shape. One of them is filled with a solution, the other is inserted into the solution and filled with oppression (heavy objects, sand) so that the concrete rises along the edges of the original form.

So that the cement can be separated from the main form, the large container chosen as the basis is treated with lubricant inside. For this purpose, you can use plastic wrap, but it is not always possible to flatten it perfectly, so production flaws can be visible on the finished product. The second form is treated with lubricant from the outside (in the place where it comes into contact with the solution). The general instruction is as follows:

 • concrete material is poured into the bottom of a larger container, while the layer thickness should be 3-4 cm on average;
 • if necessary, the bottom layer is leveled with a spatula - then this will not work;
 • for drainage, insert a metal pipe cut into small pieces, treated with lubricant from the outside;
 • a smaller shape is installed on metal segments, filled with sand or other cargo (gravel, crushed stone), prepared in advance;

 • after fixing the second container, the concrete solution is poured between the forms, not forgetting to pierce it with a thin metal rod (so that no air bubbles remain in it);
 • trim the upper edge of the future flowerpot with a spatula or an ordinary spoon;
 • the workpiece is covered with polyethylene and left for at least a day (until completely dry);
 • after drying, all unnecessary elements are removed (if necessary, they are broken, if the structure has a metal frame, the auxiliary parts are carefully removed);
 • flower girls are immersed in water for 1 week (large products are abundantly sprayed with water 4 times a day and covered with a film, repeating this for 10-14 days);
 • after the right time, the flowerpots will remain to be decorated and painted.

If inserts into the surface are planned (for example, mirror shards or stones), they are pressed into the material while the concrete is still malleable. The same applies to stencils: you need to press down the shape at the moment the concrete hardens.

Let's walk briefly through the different types of manufacturing.

Pot-sculpture

To make a charming cat pot, you will need 6 wooden supports (legs from old stools can be used) and a plastic container for the body. The supports are fixed to the container by means of aluminum wire, from 4 to construct paws, from the remaining two - a tail and a head. Then the inner space of the flowerpot is finished with concrete, the outer one is sculpted. Any round object can be used for the head.

They work with the material gradually, otherwise the mass risks falling off the base. When the solution hardens, you need to sand the surface. Then it is necessary to paint the shape in the color you like, giving the cat an original color. You can varnish the product on top.

From plastic containers

This method is the simplest. Used 5-liter bottles are cut to the desired height, then concrete is poured into the bottom. A round shape is often inserted inside, following the basic technology, filling it with sand in a bag or gravel. Some flowerpots, when solidified, have a ready-made relief pattern in the form of transverse stripes, left by the form of a larger capacity. Others look original, differing in the curly shape of the edge.

From fabric

No less easy to make is a flowerpot made of textiles or an old towel. To create it, you will need a mixing container, cloth, bucket and support. Everything is extremely simple here: the fabric is dipped into a concrete solution until completely impregnated, then hung on a bucket, put on a support. If necessary, you can immediately correct the edges of the future flowerpot by trimming them, or bending them to the sides, like flower petals, when the solution begins to solidify.

There can be a lot of options for fabrics, as well as the structure of the material: the flowerpot can turn out to be airy, openwork.

If you use towels, the drawing will have an original relief. You can soak different things with concrete. For example, it can be a regular woven bag with ties, a scarf, or old jeans.

Some people like paper (for example, the shape of a box): this material, after the solution hardens, takes on its original texture. Its manufacture does not differ from the basic technology. Moreover, the shape itself can be varied: the box can have concave, convex lateral edges, or asymmetry. The main rule of all materials is free access to the disposal of used devices., otherwise it will be problematic to separate the workpiece from the base.

Finishing

Decorating a concrete flowerpot is a creative and fun process. It is not enough to fulfill the shape: it needs to be given an attractive appearance. For this, concrete is often washed out, giving the surface a unique texture. Another finishing technique is the inclusion of different materials. The design can be very diverse: painting the item in bronze or gilding will give the item a vintage touch. The white type of surface will successfully fit into the garden interior, in which there are statues, or it will be an independent accent of the site.
