Recently, the annual New Wave music competition has started in Sochi. This event is an opportunity for aspiring singers to show themselves and pave the way to a stellar career. Two days later, on September 8, the next season of the "New Wave" will begin in Sochi. The festival (and also a competition for young performers) will be held for the 16th time. From 2002 to 2014, it was held in the Latvian city of Jurmala, and the Dzintari stage was an invariable concert venue.
In 2015, the festival moved to another sea city - Sochi, but this did not in the least damage its main function. "New Wave" from year to year becomes one of the main events not only in the musical, but also in the secular life of Russia. Everyone comes: singers, singers, actors, actresses, showmen, producers. September is the time when the holiday season at sea resorts is drawing to a close and the number of tourists is noticeably decreasing. But not in Sochi, and this enduring interest is associated with a string of large-scale events. No sooner had the fans' whistles blown over the football stands after the "Confederations Cup", as the roar of the fireballs can already be heard - "Formula 1" is taking place in the city. Between sporting events Sochi amicably opens its doors to musical events. And one of the most notable in this entertainment program is "New Wave". Today the competition was officially launched - music over the Black Sea coast will sound from today for a whole week.
And although the "New Wave" now considers Sochi as its home, the geography of the competition this year has changed somewhat: from the echoing resort capital, the event moved closer to the mountain landscapes - to the spacious "Olympic Park". It is here, not far from the Fisht stadium, where Russian figure skaters once won their gold medals, the Sochi park filled with crazy attractions, and the railway station, where the stars, members of their teams and their equipment were carefully delivered by the Russian Railways, this year erected the New Wave Hall.
The change of scenery did not change the rules of the "game", every day the artists and contestants have a strict routine: during the day - rehearsals, in a more relaxed atmosphere and comfortable outfits, they check the technique and warm up the ligaments, and in the evening - already in full dress and following the sensitive instructions of the show hosts , one by one go on stage and charge the audience with a festive mood. Today, a whole squad of stars was responsible for creating a special atmosphere.
The main characters of the opening day were Dima Bilan, Sergey Lazarev, Polina Gagarina, Irina Dubtsova, Nikolay Baskov, Diana Arbenina, Yulianna Karaulova and other artists. Philip Kirkorov took the stage twice. However, his main triumph on the "New Wave" is ahead - on September 13, a big concert with the participation of stars will take place, timed to coincide with Kirkorov's anniversary.
That this year there will be a gala concert in my honor, I learned at the closing of the "New Wave 2016". Since then, I have continuously wondered how everything will go. We began to prepare with the artists, to discuss. I will lead this evening myself, while I have not heard a single song prepared by other musicians. And if ahead of the "New Wave" evenings are entirely thematic - be it Kirkorov's anniversary concert or "Film Day", which will take place tomorrow, then the show in honor of the opening traditionally turned out to be a great musical skit. Each artist performed a song that became his biggest hit this year. Dima Bilan made the whole audience dance to the incendiary "Hold", Jasmine tuned in to a romantic wave by performing "You are my happiness", the Estradarada group came out with a song, the words of which the whole country learned by heart - "Vitya needs to go out." A particularly bright moment was Olga Buzova's solo performance - Olga's performance did not end with the song "To the Sound of Kisses", and she talked with the audience for a long time, and after that she unambiguously flirted with Andrey Malakhov, the host of the evening. By the way, for Malakhov the return to New Wave was a special event - he did not run the competition for 15 years and returned to the New Wave stage only after switching from Channel One to Russia 1.

The show of the American LP singer, Laura Pergolizzi, the guest star of the competition, became a bright conclusion to the evening.
