DIY sock storage boxes. Laundry organizer - everything should be in order! We make a do-it-yourself laundry organizer from fabric quickly and easily

No matter how you put your own or baby's underwear in the closet, it still creates a mess. Therefore, hostesses often assign him one of the drawers of the chest of drawers or a separate rack. But there will be no order in the established place if the linen is simply stored on the shelf.

An organizer is an advantageous device for storing underwear, socks, and handkerchiefs. This is a box with cells, into which small household items can be conveniently folded. Evaluate the sentences in f. 1. We will be glad if you take our advice as a basis.

Many design versions

The do-it-yourself lingerie organizer can have any shape and is made of different materials. The simplest version is a dense cardboard box with cardboard or corrugated cardboard membranes. When the membrane walls are made of felt, it is more pleasant to take panties from such a box. Cardboard lined with fabric also looks prettier. Sometimes holofiber, foam rubber, synthetic winterizer are added to the walls, and the frame is also sheathed with fabric. The finished product looks good, pasted over with wallpaper or decorated with decoupage technique, other decoration.

Materials and tools

DIY lingerie organizer is easy to make and has a wide scope for creativity. To make it, not so many materials and tools are needed. Usually it is made out in a box, although there are options when only membranes are made, which are placed in a furniture box (f. 2). Along with the usual tools (scissors, pencil, needle, ruler, stapler, chalk), you may need a glue gun, sewing machine.

When choosing a material for the base and membranes - an unlimited number of options! In this case, a piece of fabric that is pleasant to the touch, satin ribbons, old synthetic tights, felt, velor and other material will do. You don't have to "bother" with sewing, but do paperwork - it's also a good idea! For these purposes, cardboard from a set for children's creativity, color pictures, decoupage napkins are suitable. For jewelry, take a guipure tape, beads, sequins, pebbles, beads.

What do we need? Form 3 clearly shows all the necessary materials and tools.

  • 1. Choose a cardboard box that is strong and fits your shelf. The height can be reduced by cutting off the sides with a clerical knife.
  • 2. Depending on the size of the box, they are divided into cells. For this, rectangular membranes are cut out of thick cardboard or corrugated cardboard. They need to be divided so that cells with an area of 7-8 square meters are obtained. cm.
  • 3. Moving on to decorating. In our case, we used special paper with a specific texture. But you can use ordinary writing paper. We glue the membranes with decorated paper, and leave them to dry under a press. To decorate the box, the sides are first pasted over, and then the bottom with one material. For exterior design, we use thick paper with a pattern.
  • 4. Move on to marking the planks. On the longitudinal membranes, we make markings from the side where the glued edges are visible. On the transverse slats, the opposite is true. Due to this, the assembled grille will look neat and harmonious. Every 7-8 cm we make marks, and then cuts to the middle. We collect the grate and insert it into the box.
  • 5. Look at what we had initially and what happened with the organizer. A dramatic change. You can do this in your closet.

If you are friends with a sewing machine, you can decorate the inner partitions and cover with fabric.

Achieving perfect order in your closet can be tricky. Small things often cause confusion. An organizer will help to eliminate this problem - socks cannot get lost in it. You can buy a special device in a store or make a product yourself. The manufacturing process does not require special skills and knowledge.

It doesn't take a lot of materials to make an out-of-the-box sock organizer. This is a budget product for which you can use the means at hand.

Required materials for the organizer:

Additionally, you may need masking tape, cardboard or decorative items (fabric, lace and satin ribbons). The box can be asked from the seller or you can look for it yourself in the backyards of stores. This recyclable material is of little value. If the drawer in the closet is large, then you can place several organizers in it at once... You can also take part of the box for personal hygiene items.

How to make a sock organizer out of the box?

A simple cardboard box can be used to make a handy sock organizer. Several different methods are used for manufacturing. This useful device does not require expensive materials, most of them can be found at home. Everyone will be able to cope with the work, because the process does not require special skills and knowledge. The self-made device is in no way inferior to the purchased Chinese counterpart.

Method 1

First, you need to determine the size of the box, which will later serve as a place to store the organizer for socks. Based on the parameters obtained, a box is selected. Ideally, the width and length of the cardboard item should be 1 cm smaller than the box. In the future, the cardboard frame will be covered with wallpaper, which will increase its thickness by several millimeters.

My next braggart - lingerie organizer!

If you have Ikea nearby or you have the patience to wait for a package with an order, do not waste your nerves, energy and time on this "nonsense".
I spent all my evenings on it for two weeks. Well, how did I spend it - quietly sewing, pricking my fingers with a needle, learning to work with a thimble, watching all sorts of movies with one eye, drinking tea, stroking cats ...
In general, sometimes I like the process itself more than the achieved result. And it's also easier and faster for me to do something myself than to go and buy. I remember once I tore my favorite brown-chocolate tights on the ankle, so while I got the same pair for a new pair, I already managed to embroider the old ones. And I love them more and wear them more often than new ones)))
All this I mean is that my perfectionism does not sleep and constantly spoils my mood - I love order in everything! I love it when every thing has its place, when you close your eyes and tell without hesitation which drawer of the chest of drawers is the piece of paper / colored pencils / charging from an old phone / swimming pool cap that you need right here and now. Ooooo, how do I freak out when I don't find a thing in its place, or I find it, but where, by definition, it shouldn't be there. Well, for example, a TV remote control buried among kitchen spatulas, openers and knives. And as for evil, "burying" under my hot hand does not turn out to be, and damned perfectionism does not give me the restraint to leave everything as it is and poke a violator with my nose, I carry everything to its place ...
Needless to say, every morning, when I opened my underwear drawer, I saw a bunch of women's things, absolutely not systematized. And it pissed me off again!

And then I saw HIM - an organizer!

And if such a miracle was sold in our town, I would buy it without hesitation! Well, or at least turned it over in my hands and would understand the principle of assembly. Patamushta, when I, inspired by the idea, cut out and began to sew, I did not "come up with" a bicycle the first time.
But if the hands are golden, it doesn't matter from what place they grow! If I haven’t resisted the desire yet, I’ll tell you how I did it.

First you need to remove the dimensions from the box: length, width and depth (height).
My standard chest of drawers was 76 cm long, 43 wide, 13 high.

From a single-layer padding polyester and the main fabric, I cut out one rectangle measuring 75 * 42
The size of the rectangles must be specially reduced by one or two centimeters from the size of the box, so that the organizer fits freely into the box, does not shrink or bulge.
The blue rectangle can be set aside for now - we need it at the very end.

And on the white one (this is the base of the organizer) we sew long rectangles (these will be the walls of the cells). The blue organizer just seemed boring to me, and I also took an orange-white fabric.
The length of the rectangles is equal to the length of the base, and the width is equal to twice the height of the box (minus a couple of centimeters - again, so that nothing interferes with closing / opening). We sew the rectangles in the middle, we put the sides together, the seam is inside, and our partition turned out to be double - for additional rigidity and hiding all the seams and edges.
I sewed the outer walls of the organizer on the contrary - with the fold up.
I found the distance between the partitions empirically, optimally and ergonomically folding the bras in different ways and measuring the width.

The number and length of cells also directly depends on the size of the hostess's bust)) (I have already drawn the boundaries).

No need to sew to the edge! Leave a centimeter and a half - then you will understand why.

Now it's up to the small partitions. Have you determined the width? We add half a centimeter on each side for seam allowances, but on the contrary we reduce the height by a centimeter. We also make double partitions - we sew such "bags" - as many as we have partitions. (I got 24 pieces). You should not cut everything at once in one size - you need to periodically check the width between the long partitions (well, or initially sew them perfectly and to the millimeter exactly).
So, we sew the "bags", turn them out. To make the corners turn out well, you can cut them off a little. And then all the details need to be steamed with an iron - this will turn out more evenly and accurately, and it will be easier to work.

Close the cut of the "bag" with an oblique inlay or a tape folded in half.
Well, now, perhaps, the longest process of our creativity lies ahead: to sew small partitions to large (along the lines marked in advance) from the beginning on one side, then on the other. This will take 90% of the time)))

Remember, we didn't sew long partitions to the very edge? Now we sew both halves together along the short side (in height), turn them out, steam them with an iron.

We close the upper cuts with a bias tape or tape. And from the sides along the edges we sew rectangular walls, bending up (as they did on the long side before).

We sew the dangling long partitions to the side short wall.

We combine the cuts of the side walls in height, sew, close the cuts with an oblique inlay or tape - this is such a corner.

Well, now is the time to remember about the large rectangle, set aside at the very beginning. We put it on the bottom of our structure and sew along the perimeter (I sewed it in a “zig-zag” pattern so that the threads from the cuts would not interfere with the further work).

Iiiiii, the final stage - along the perimeter, we close the cuts with an oblique inlay or tape. Particular attention should be paid to the corners - so that nothing puffs up, so that there are no folds!

We carry it rather for "fitting"!

And now the most pleasant part - we put everything in its place, admire the perfect order and praise ourselves twice a day)))

But if such a useful little thing is passion as you want, and laziness or pens are directed in the other direction, then ready-made organizers for linen, as well as drawers for shoes, boxes for hats, vacuum bags and a million things you need to organize the order of things, can be found!

DIY laundry organizer: master class

It is very easy to make such an organizer for storing underwear and a sock with your own hands. And its cost is at least two times lower than that of the cheapest Chinese analogue.

You will need: a shoe box, a ruler, a pen, glue, scissors and paper for decoration.

How to make the organizer yourself (yourself), see the step-by-step instructions with a photo.

The box for the linen was picked up. Set the lid aside for now. You will need it a little later.

  1. First, decide on the size of the underwear drawer. Think about how many things to put in it. It depends on what size the box for underwear to choose and how many cells to divide it.
  2. Measure the height of the future organizer on the side walls. Focus on the parameters of the locker in which you will store it.
  3. Mark the cutting lines.
  4. Cut off the excess.
  5. Make internal partitions from the lid and the rest of the box. Count how many blanks you need. Proceed from the calculation of the optimal cell area - 7-8 cm2.
Make the height of the partitions equal to the height of the box or slightly less. In length, they will be 2-3 mm less than the box itself. Then the assembled underwear or socks will fit freely into the cells.

Now these blanks need to be decorated. In our case, we used paper for wrapping gifts with an interesting "wrinkled" texture. But, in order to save money, you can get by with ordinary white sheets of A4 format.

  6. Paste over the cartons on all sides.
  7. Send them to the press for a while. In the meantime, they dry, take care of finishing the drawer.
Start at the inside of the bumpers.
  8. Then arrange the bottom.

For external decor, oracle, scrapbooking paper or fabric are suitable. The material must be strong to withstand long-term use. We took thick wrapping paper in a contrasting color.

  9. Start with the boards. Make an allowance of 3-4 cm on both sides.
Do not glue the paper without "fitting" - this is fraught with errors and irregularities.
  10. Bend the sides - it will be more convenient this way. Make cuts in the fold lines at the corners of the box to keep the paper flat.
  11. Now you can glue.
  12. Finally, decorate the base of the drawer.
  13. Now let's go back to the planks that have dried out under pressure. Mark on them the location of future cells.
  14. On long workpieces, mark from the side where the glued edge is visible, and on short ones from the opposite. Then, when assembled, the grill will look neat.
  15. Make cuts along the markings to the middle of the cardboard. The width of the notch should be approximately equal to the thickness of the plank.
  16. Now assemble the grate and insert into the box. Our lingerie and socks organizer is ready to use.

The result is worth the effort. This exemplary order will delight even the avid perfectionist.

How to create a DIY lingerie organizer? Step-by-step instructions will help you make a small storage even from ordinary materials that are often at hand. This is great, because you never want to spend money on purchased containers.

After reading this text, you will learn how you can make a container for storing laundry from regular milk cartons or wide cloth bands.

Necessary materials

The step-by-step instructions for sewing an organizer are quite simple, no matter what material you choose to create a linen container. But for the successful creation of an organizer with your own hands, you need to prepare some materials in advance. First, let's decide what you want to design your organizer from: cardboard or fabric.

Cardboard is usually placed in a drawer of a wardrobe or chest of drawers. Therefore, in addition to the future storage space for the container, you need to take care of the timely acquisition of a ruler, a simple pencil or marker, cardboard (you can immediately cut the shape in accordance with the width and length of the box), a stationery knife or small scissors.

A large piece of fabric of a color that fits into your interior or just pleases the eye, scissors, strong threads, tailor's pins and needles will help to sew a do-it-yourself laundry organizer from fabric. You may also need tailor's lined paper, since it is quite difficult to design an organizer for linen without a diagram.

How to make a cardboard lingerie organizer with your own hands?

This option is cheap, but you need a good eye to make it. But you need to start by looking for a sheet of cardboard.

  • First you need to measure the width, height and length of the laundry storage box. Next, you should count the number of strips required.

  • In order not to spoil anything, you need to play it safe. And an ordinary pattern on lined or sewing paper can help with this.

  • All strips must have the same width and height. Only then will you be able to properly plan the creation of a laundry organizer and (just as important) successfully install it in the drawer.

  • Next, you should outline the notch lines. On long strips, you need to make three cuts in half the width of the strip, and for short ones, two will be enough. What is the main feature? The width should be equal to the thickness of the partition.

  • The incisions must be made as carefully as possible. It is better to make a smaller cut and enlarge it if necessary, than to ruin the part. To strengthen the partitions, you can varnish or tape them.

  • The final step is to put the pieces together and place them directly into the underwear drawer.

Responsibly treat the measurements of the box in which the container for linen will be stored. Otherwise, there is a risk that the product will simply not fit into it. Just in case, it is worth leaving two centimeters in reserve.

Making an organizer from cardboard may require some financial investment. To keep organizer costs as low as possible, simple milk bags can be used as material.

  1. An alternative way of making a storage for underwear from cardboard with your own hands can be considered the creation of an organizer from milk or kefir bags. Free people show up at home at least once every two days.
  2. Of course, the boxes need to be processed before placing the laundry in them. First, cut off the top of them so that they all fit into the drawer. Then, using soap, wash the inside of the bags.
  3. Fasten the bags together with a stapler or strong glue, using the "Moment" type. From above, to add aesthetic value, you can spray the product with colored spray paint. It remains only to put it in the box.

How to sew a fabric organizer?

The advantage of making a fabric organizer is that this option will last longer. Plus, the fabric will not deteriorate if you accidentally spill some liquid makeup on it.

  • If you are not happy with the use of cardboard, or if you want to create a homemade travel organizer, fabric should act as a consumable - a tape 12 millimeters wide, cardboard for the base.

  • First of all, you need to draw a drawing of a laundry organizer on paper, and then transfer it to cardboard. Take into account the dimensions of the box in which you plan to put the received product.

  • The following cutting is considered standard: five strips of 18, 36, 45, 54 and 27 centimeters, respectively (remember the allowances of two centimeters for sewing), twelve inner walls of nine centimeters and two pieces of eight, the outer parts of the walls of 4 strips of 36 centimeters with allowances and a bottom format of 36 by 36 centimeters. The fabric will turn out if all the specified details are sewn correctly.

  • Fold the dividers in half and sew the top edge. Then all strips should be sewn in accordance with the markings (according to it, the first three rows include four small compartments, and the last four large ones).

  • It is necessary to sew partitions so that a margin of 50 millimeters remains above and below the edge of the fabric strips. This will then allow you to sew the bottom to the bottom (you can sew it on the zipper to make it easier to fold the storage.
  • Next, you need to strengthen the walls with cardboard (just insert it into the double-leaf walls) and process the edges with tape. In this case, you can not worry about the strength of the organizer and install it in the chest of drawers.
