Finishing of a country house from a foam block from the inside. Review of materials for exterior decoration of a foam block house

Today, most of the low-rise buildings are built on the basis of wall blocks. The interior decoration of a foam block house has a number of nuances that need to be taken into account during work. Foam blocks have gained great popularity due to their low cost and excellent characteristics. Working with such material is not particularly difficult, so even a beginner in the construction craft can cope with it.

Benefits of using foam concrete blocks

Foam blocks have gained great popularity in construction due to their undeniable advantages. These include:

  1. Large block sizes that can significantly speed up the construction procedure.
  2. Light weight of the material, which makes it possible to reduce the labor intensity of the work and to carry it out without the use of special construction equipment.
  3. A high indicator of the mechanical strength of the product.
  4. Excellent thermal and sound insulation characteristics.
  5. Protection against effects of various temperatures.
  6. Non-combustibility of blocks.
  7. Products are based on environmentally friendly components, so that they are completely harmless to the human body.
  8. Ease of finishing using hand tools.
  9. Walls lined with such material have an excellent level of vapor permeability, which allows them to breathe.

It should be borne in mind that the interior decoration of a block house will require waterproofing. Since such a material has a porous surface, moisture accumulated inside it can lead to a loss of thermal insulation properties. Because of this, the coating may crack, and there is also the possibility of condensation, which also leads to deformation and destruction of blocks.

Nuances of wall cladding

Processing of walls made of foam blocks has its own differences. The smooth surface of the material and its composition do not allow the use of simple cement-sand mortars for facing, which have an insufficient level of adhesion. For good adhesion, you will first need to apply primer mixtures that will penetrate inside the foam concrete, reduce hygroscopicity and increase adhesion.

On our site you can find contacts of construction companies that offer the service of finishing and insulation of houses. You can communicate directly with representatives by visiting the Low-Rise Country exhibition of houses.

The quality of the cladding of such a material is very dependent on the observance of the technology of its laying. If a special adhesive was used during the construction of the walls, then the interval between the blocks will be no more than 3 mm, which will create a smooth surface and simplify its further finishing. Also, when laying foam concrete, a reinforcing belt must be used for every 4-5 rows of material. It will provide good surface strength and prevent possible shrinkage. If the reinforcement is not performed, after a while shrinkage can lead to deformation of the blocks, destruction of the inner and outer protective layer.

Important! The inner lining of the foam block should be carried out first, only after that the external work is carried out.

Wall treatment should be carried out in dry warm weather, best of all in summer. This will allow the wall to dry well, which is important for further waterproofing. In the cold season, moisture in the pores can freeze and remain inside the blocks.

Tools for internal lining of the foam block

When interior wall decoration, you will need to prepare everything you need in advance. You will need the following tools:

  1. Electric drill and screwdriver for making holes.
  2. Paint brush and roller for applying solutions.
  3. Spatula and construction trowel.
  4. Construction mixer for mixing the composition.
  5. Hammer and mallet.
  6. Construction knife.
  7. Scissors, a hacksaw for metal processing.
  8. Building level and tape measure.

Options for materials for finishing foam blocks

It is possible to coat the foam block qualitatively only by providing good protection against moisture ingress. To do this, before decorative processing, certain procedures are carried out to level the surface, improve the level of adhesion and protect the blocks.

Protective-leveling solutions are applied in several layers. The first step is priming with a special mixture, which was developed specifically for foam concrete. You will also definitely need to perform waterproofing, which will prevent the formation of condensation. It should be borne in mind that steam appears in all rooms, not just in the kitchen or bathroom. With their breath, people also form vapor. A fairly popular vapor barrier is penofol, which is a polyethylene-based roll material covered with aluminum foil on both sides.

Further facing technology depends only on the selected material. What is the best way to decorate a house from foam blocks inside? For this, the following options can be used:

  • Installation of plasterboard or chipboard with further decorative finishing.
  • Plastering surfaces for painting or whitewashing.
  • Wallpaper gluing.
  • Finishing with clapboard or other wood-based materials.

Installation of drywall sheets

Plasterboard finishing is a fairly popular solution. This choice will allow the use of a large number of steam and heat insulation materials, as well as provide an additional waterproofing layer. The basis of the procedure is the plastering of surfaces with plasterboard on a pre-prepared crate based on wooden beams or a metal profile. The frame is created by attaching vertical components at intervals of 45-55 cm. Additionally, they can be reinforced with horizontal lintels.

The work of installing drywall on a foam block surface consists of the following stages:

  1. Preparation, which consists of applying a primer and one layer of plaster mixture.
  2. Installation of vertical parts of the lathing. To do this, you will need to prepare a profile based on aluminum or a timber bar with dimensions of 20 by 40 or 40 by 40 mm. Fasteners are made with self-tapping screws.
  3. Creation of a hydro-, steam- and heat-insulating layer. The first step is to install a thick roofing felt material between the posts of the lathing. Further, if desired, a heat-insulating layer is applied. It can be based on mineral wool, expanded polystyrene or other solutions. Finally, the materials are covered with a vapor barrier. All elements are fastened with dowels, self-tapping screws or glue. It should be borne in mind that there should be no gaps between the protective layers and the lathing elements.
  4. Next, the drywall is fastened to the crate using screws or self-tapping screws for metal. Previously, it will be necessary to make holes for fastening in the sheets to prevent possible deformation. All fasteners must be well sunk into the material. Also, when installing drywall, you will need to leave an empty space between the vapor barrier layer and the sheet to ensure good ventilation.
  5. The final facing of the sheets is made according to the traditional technology.

Facing foam blocks with plaster

Any option for wall decoration primarily requires a flat surface, which is extremely important for block structures. Leveling can be easily accomplished by applying a plaster coat. The work consists of the following stages:

  1. Preparing the walls. First, you will need to well clean the wall from dirt, adhering mixtures, grease or oil stains. If there are large deformations, they will need to be repaired.
  2. Primer. The special solution is applied with a paint brush or roller. The layer should be thin, the composition must be distributed over the entire surface. It is extremely important that the mixture penetrates 3-5 mm inside the foam block. Wide voids between blocks are treated with glue.
  3. Installation of the grid. After the primer has completely dried, the mesh is installed on the wall. The most commonly used mesh is fiberglass. This procedure will increase the strength of the finish and significantly increase the level of adhesion of the mortar to the wall.
  4. Plastering. The main goal when performing such a finish is to level the surface of the surface. As a plaster, it is best to use dry mortars for working inside on a gypsum or cement base. Experts also often use sand-cement mixtures prepared with their own hands. In such cases, the proportions of 3 to 1 are observed. The plastering technology depends on the further finishing. So for the future installation of tiles, one layer of plaster will be enough. For painting or wallpapering, it is best to apply a 2-layer mortar with an external and topcoat that guarantees perfect wall evenness. In this case, the main layer should have a thickness of about 2-3 mm, and the leveling layer should be 10-12 mm.

Conclusion

The cost of interior decoration of a house made of foam blocks depends entirely on the materials used. It will be necessary to take into account the price of the primer and other required funds. The most economical solution is to install drywall sheets. This process does not require prior plastering. Also, in the future, it will be possible to glue wallpaper, paint or decorative plaster on drywall.

The correct solution is to draw up a renovation project in advance, taking into account all costs. In many cases, it is advisable to seek the help of specialists - this will help reduce unnecessary costs for the purchase of unnecessary material, as well as ensure the high quality of the final result.

Foam concrete has increased hygroscopicity, therefore, it is not recommended to leave it for a long time without facing - the blocks are saturated with water and in winter the frozen crystals will destroy the structure of the material. In addition, the appearance of the foam blocks is rather unattractive, and the construction looks unfinished.

In this article we will tell you how to sheathe a house from foam blocks from the outside, consider the types of facing materials, analyze their advantages and disadvantages.

Characteristics of materials for house cladding

The outer wall of the house assumes all the adverse effects of the environment, therefore, the facing material must be selected according to the following characteristics:

  • Water resistance... The lower this indicator, the more reliable will be the protection of insulation and foam concrete from moisture penetration.
  • Frost resistance. The appearance of the house and the frequency with which the facade cladding will have to be changed or repaired depends on the property of the material to withstand low temperatures.
  • Fire safety. The ability of a material not to ignite or melt even when in contact with an open flame.
  • Biological resistance... This factor means the resistance of the cladding to fungi, mold and microorganisms.
  • UV resistant. UV protection allows the cladding not to fade from the sun and atmospheric influences, a presentable appearance remains for many years.
  • Durability. The warranty period of operation plays a significant role, the higher it is, the longer the material will serve without changing the operational characteristics.

These are the main properties of materials for outdoor decoration. To neglect one or more characteristics means to doom yourself to replace or repair the facade every few years.

Important! Regardless of what material the house is cladding from foam blocks, a waterproofing (diffusion) membrane must be attached under the decorative layer, which prevents moisture from penetrating into the structure of the insulation and foam concrete.

Types of facing materials

Today the market is filled with various facing materials, from budget economy options to elite expensive ones. If you wish, you can always choose the trim to your taste and wallet. Let's consider some of the proposed materials.

Natural wood

For many years, wood has not lost its position and remains one of the most popular finishing materials due to its unique properties. When the question "How to sheathe a house from foam blocks?" Arises, many will choose a natural tree.

What is the secret of such popularity of this material:

  • Aesthetics. Wood combines well with other materials and has a presentable appearance.
  • Environmental friendliness. Complete absence of harmful substances that adversely affect human health.
  • Availability. In some regions, the price of wood is much lower than the cost of other facing materials.
  • Ease of processing. Working with wood is not only easy, but also enjoyable.

It should be said about the disadvantages inherent only in this material - it is flammability, susceptibility to early decay and the effects of microorganisms. But modern technologies make it possible to protect wooden products from harmful effects, soak the wood with special compounds thoroughly enough with your own hands, and the problem will be solved.

The following types of wood are used for cladding:

  • Sliced board.
  • Lining for outdoor use.
  • Blockhouse - imitation of a log wall or planed timber.

The material is attached to the lathing, the front surface is covered with protective compounds - varnish, paint, impregnation.

It is not at all necessary to finish with one type of wood, the facade with a combined cladding with panels of various textures, colors and shapes looks elegant and creative. But still, with all its advantages, the tree requires almost annual maintenance.

Siding

A house was built from a foam block, how to make the facade cladding so that it is beautiful, and for a long time, and inexpensively? The best option would be siding, which is available in two types: polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and metal.

Let's consider each of the types separately:

  1. Vinyl.

It consists of panels 20–25 cm wide with a slightly embossed surface. The strips have a lock on one side and perforations for fastening on the other.

Before sheathing a foam block house with siding, it is necessary to insulate the walls. Although the material has excellent water resistance, more precisely, it does not allow moisture to pass at all, but the condensation formed during temperature drops under the casing can get on the insulation and walls.

Therefore, waterproofing and a ventilated facade are required. In order for the moisture to evaporate effectively, the panels are mounted horizontally on a crate made of metal profiles or wooden bars at a distance of 25-50 mm from the wall.

For clarity and completeness of the design, special internal and external corners, finishing and connecting strips from the same material are used. The disadvantages of vinyl siding include the low resistance of bright colors to ultraviolet light and some fragility under mechanical stress and low temperatures. Therefore, facing work should be carried out in the warm season.

The cladding instructions explain in detail how to properly sheathe a house made of foam concrete or any other material with siding. The panels are cut with ordinary scissors, easily drilled, and fastened with self-tapping screws.

Important! During installation, fasteners should not be slightly tightened to avoid cracks at the joints during thermal expansion of the material.

  1. Metal siding.

These are type-setting panels made of thin galvanized metal or aluminum 25 cm wide. Powder coating of the surface lasts for a long time without peeling paint, is not afraid of sunlight, frost and atmospheric negativity.

A wide color palette allows you to achieve originality in the decoration of the facade of a house made of foam concrete. Installation of panels is similar to installing vinyl siding, but work can be carried out at any time of the year.

For cladding, metal scissors and a screwdriver are used. For the aesthetic completion of the facade, corners and connecting strips from the same material are used.

The disadvantages of metal siding include its weight; it is problematic to cope with the installation of panels alone.

  1. Basement PVC.

A variety of vinyl siding has a greater thickness, light weight, embossed surface with a pronounced texture like brick or wild stone. The imitation is so precisely stylized to resemble natural materials that until you touch it, you will not understand.

The basement siding is distinguished by a special configuration of elements and is assembled like a puzzle - it is joined by curly edges. Such panels look great not only on the plinth, but also on the walls of the building. Especially combined options, when the facade is finished with vinyl "like a brick", and the plinth is decorated "like a natural stone".

Installation is carried out in the same way on a lathing made of a bar or galvanized metal profile. The siding is fastened with self-tapping screws with a slight backlash for freedom of thermal expansion.

Decorating a house made of foam concrete with decorative materials will not only ennoble the building, but also extend its life for several decades. How to properly sheathe a house from foam blocks with metal or vinyl siding, the video in this article will tell you, and in the photo you can see examples of finished houses.

Modern private houses and utility rooms are most often built from foam blocks, since they have a low cost, good heat and sound insulation.

In addition, they are lightweight and all work is carried out much faster than when using bricks.

To understand what is better to finish inside and outside the room, you first need to figure out what this material is and what features it has.

If you do not complete the finishing, then this will lead to the following consequences:

  • in the pores of the specified material, dirt and dust gradually accumulate;
  • it will absorb moisture from the air and it will get inside during natural precipitation;
  • water begins to react with dust and dirt, from which the appearance of such a wall deteriorates, it begins to darken and become covered with uneven spots;
  • during freezing, moisture will expand, causing damage to the blocks.

If you made the blocks perfectly even and processed the seams with high quality, then theoretically, you can leave it that way.

But in this case, your house will not only look not aesthetically pleasing, but also its service life will be reduced several times, therefore it is best to carry out both interior and exterior decoration.

One of the main features of foam concrete blocks, which ensures their technical characteristics, is their porous structure.

Due to their high porosity, the blocks have low weight and high thermal insulation characteristics.

At the same time, the porous structure of the material reduces its strength, makes its appearance not very attractive, therefore, finishing is required.

Material porosity provides high moisture absorption, which reduces the performance of foam blocks.

After moisture gets into the blocks and they do not have time to get rid of it until frost, it begins to freeze and damage them, so the internal and external finishing must reliably protect blocks from the negative effects of moisture.

In addition to the fact that such a house must have internal and external decoration, it it is necessary to equip the canopies, gutters, sill drains, make the right roof and protect the basement.

When creating external and internal wall decoration from foam blocks, it is necessary to take those materials that will ensure the output of steam from the house to the street, otherwise it will accumulate inside the foam blocks.

Outdoor

Each owner decides for himself how to carry out the exterior decoration of walls from foam blocks, taking into account both his preferences and financial capabilities.

Any of the materials used has its pros and cons, so in order to make the right choice, you first need to familiarize yourself with them.

Plaster

One of the simple and inexpensive methods of cladding is, which can be conventional or decorative.

In order for it to better adhere to the surface of the foam blocks, it is recommended to use a reinforcing mesh or you can trowel the surface to open pores and increase adhesion.

Natural stone has a high cost, while artificial material is cheaper, lighter, has high frost resistance and resistance to the development of fungus, is less porous, and in appearance, it is almost impossible to distinguish it from natural material.

What to do inside the house

A special feature is that first it is necessary to carry out their interior decoration, and only then the facade is faced.

It is better to perform these works in the summer, so that moisture that has got into the foam concrete can come out.

For waterproofing foam blocks, special primers must be used that penetrate the material by 1-5 mm and reliably protect it from moisture.

Inside, the decoration of the house from foam blocks can be carried out with more expensive and modern materials.

It can be wall coverings made of wood, bamboo or stone veneer, volumetric options, leather panels.

Modern builders glass blocks are often used, from which partitions, corners or niches in the house, bar counters or a work area in the kitchen are made.

This material allows you to create beautiful lighting, you can make decorative panels from it, decorate a bathroom with it.

Internal plaster

After the primer has dried, on the wall mount glass mesh, instead of it, notches can be made on the walls, but if it is easy to do this on cut blocks, then on cast blocks it is quite difficult.

After and its drying, walls can be painted, this will be the simplest and cheapest option; acrylic paints or compositions based on silicone and silicate are suitable for it.

You can also use wallpaper, preferably paper, non-woven or fabric, which is good for air permeability.

Drywall

Since indoor foam concrete does not like wet processes, which include, it will be easier and faster to finish the walls inside with drywall.

For these purposes, both gypsum plasterboard and gypsum fiber boards are suitable.
Before installing the battens on the walls, must be sure to run, seal all seams and cracks with high quality.

It remains to install drywall and choose the finish. If you use wallpaper for painting, then the walls can not be putty, but only to close up the seams.

Buildings made of foam concrete have their own specifics of finishing work, due to the low moisture resistance of the material. In this regard, the interior decoration of a foam block house should include high-quality vapor barrier of the enclosing structures. It is advisable to carry out external thermal insulation of the building, but in some cases it is necessary to arrange it inside the house, or one should start by insulating the walls.

Cork

This material is produced in the form of plates or rolls. Cork is also a finish, therefore high demands are placed on the preparation of wall surfaces. The substrate must be dry and clean, free from defects, well-plastered. Before starting the insulation of the house, the cork must be kept unpacked for 24 hours at room temperature. The walls are treated with a deep penetration primer, after which insulation is glued to them with the help of special glue. The average cost of 1 square meter of cork is about 1,200 rubles.

Penofol

It is a foamed polyethylene coated on both sides with aluminum foil. Penofol is attached to special bars mounted on the walls. To exclude cracks, the slabs are laid tightly butt-to-end, the seams are sealed with aluminum tape. Then the interior cosmetic finishing with clapboard or drywall is performed. Insulation of foam block walls from the inside with penofol makes it possible to ensure the preservation of up to 97% of heat in the premises. Such insulation costs 25-35 rubles. for 1 sq.m.

Variety of interior decoration solutions

For walls from the inside in buildings made of foam concrete, the most popular design options are plastering followed by painting or wallpapering, plasterboard cladding, clapboard cladding and various decorative panels. Each of these methods has its own specifics of execution.

Plaster for finishing works

For foam concrete walls, it is recommended to choose breathable gypsum-based waterproofing compounds. Plastering of interior walls will be more reliable when using mesh. The thickness of the finishing layer from the inside of the house should be twice that of the outside. Acrylic paints or moisture-permeable wallpaper can be used on top of the plaster. A package (30 kg) of dry mix will cost about 200 rubles. This amount of material is sufficient for leveling 3 sq.m. a layer 1 cm thick.

  • Before applying the mortar, the walls must be abundantly moistened.
  • The first layer is made of a water-cement mixture, the consistency of sour cream.
  • The plaster is applied until the first mortar has dried.
  • The work is carried out in small areas.
  • When preparing the surface for wallpaper, the hardening solution is carefully processed with a trowel and a spongy trowel.
  • If you plan to paint the walls, a day after plastering, they are smoothed with a slicker, abundantly moistened with water.
  • It is possible to give the surface structure before painting - the wet solution is treated with a hard brush, comb-type trowel or embossed roller, creating a variety of stains and patterns.

Plasterboard structures

The use of drywall on the frame provides ventilation of the wall surface. The interior decoration of a house made of foam concrete in this way has its own specifics:

  1. A vapor barrier device is required using membranes that are mounted in the air gap between the drywall and the wall. For unimpeded air circulation, it must be at least 5 cm.
  2. Additional insulation from the inside slightly reduces the area of \ u200b \ u200bthe premises.
  3. For installation of the frame to the blocks, it must be used for foam concrete.
  4. A moisture-resistant drywall is provided for the bathroom.

The price of 1 square meter of drywall is 100 rubles, and 1 running meter of the frame profile is 30.

Sheathing foam blocks with wooden clapboard

The technology of such a finish in eco-style consists in the installation of a lining pre-treated with an antiseptic on a lathing of bars. Today, the lining is fastened with special clamps, which imperceptibly and firmly fix the sheathing on the frame. Insulation is laid between the lining and the wall and a vapor barrier is arranged. In the process of finishing, it is necessary to provide for the laying of electrical wiring.

To improve the safety and decorative qualities of the cladding, after the installation is completed, it can be treated with varnish or impregnation. Wall decoration from foam blocks inside is possible with similar modern materials - block house and euro lining. The price of the material varies, depending on the type of wood and the class of the product, from 140 to 800 rubles per 1 m 2.

Decorative MDF panels

When choosing how to sheathe the foam block from the inside, attention should be paid to such material characteristics as attractive appearance, durability, ease of installation. Often, cottage owners prefer MDF panels, which also have excellent sound and heat insulation performance. They are easy to care for, do not fade or absorb dirt. If you want to change the design of the room or damage part of the decoration, MDF panels can be easily dismantled and replaced. For work, you will need a plumbing square, a plumb line, a level, a tape measure, a drill with attachments and a jigsaw. The cost of m 2 of MDF panels is about 200 rubles.

The porous structure of the material determines its low density, which makes the use of ordinary fasteners for finishing work useless. For the same reason, it is almost impossible to use conventional plasters without reinforcement. Such features, which the interior of the foam block has, require special technologies, which significantly increases the cost of finishing.

Interior decoration of a house made of foam blocks is not just a decorative decoration of the interior of a room, but an urgent need, taking into account the specifics of this building material. The use of foam concrete elements in the masonry of the walls of structures for various purposes has quite justifiably gained wide popularity, which is facilitated by their many advantages. However, walls made of foam blocks need mandatory two-sided protection, which must be taken into account during construction. In general, interior decoration has its own specifics, but in many respects it is similar to working with other materials. It is quite possible to do it yourself.

Features of finishing foam concrete blocks in the premises

The widespread use of foam block houses is due to their advantages over other building materials:

  • significant block sizes, which makes laying easier and faster;
  • low specific gravity, which makes it possible to increase the dimensions of such elements;
  • sufficiently high mechanical strength;
  • high thermal insulation and soundproofing properties;
  • resistance to temperatures in a wide range;
  • incombustibility;
  • harmless to the human body;
  • ease of processing with hand tools.

Houses from a foam block have such an important advantage as the ability of walls to "breathe", that is, air can penetrate through the foamed concrete.

Why is the interior decoration of walls made of foam blocks so necessary? The fact is that most of the positive qualities are due to the presence of a porous structure. When moisture accumulates in internal inclusions, the material loses its thermal insulation properties. There is a risk of starting the cracking process. At the same time, foam concrete is quite hygroscopic, and moisture easily penetrates into the material. In addition, one should take into account such a circumstance as the appearance of condensation. Steam easily passes through the foam blocks, and when it meets the colder outer surface of the wall, it condenses. The resulting moisture gradually accumulates inside the material, destroying it. Thus, walls made of foam blocks require waterproofing both from the outside of the house and inside the premises.

Required tools

When carrying out interior decoration of walls from foam blocks, you should prepare the following tool in advance:

  • electric drill;
  • screwdriver;
  • paint brush;
  • paint roller;
  • putty knife;
  • Master OK;
  • construction mixer for solution preparation;
  • hammer;
  • mallet;
  • scissors;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • building level;
  • roulette;
  • metal ruler.

Finishing principles

Decorating walls from foam blocks with your own hands has its own specifics. First of all, it should be borne in mind that the smooth surface of the elements and the composition of the foam concrete do not allow the use of conventional cement-sand mortars, which do not have reliable adhesion to the material in question. To ensure good adhesion, special primers are applied, designed specifically for this purpose. Such agents are able to penetrate 3-4 mm deep into the foam concrete, which improves adhesion and reduces hygroscopicity.

The quality of finishing work largely depends on the correct implementation of the masonry blocks during the construction of the walls. If special glue was used during the construction of the walls, then the interblock joints have a width of no more than 2-3 mm, which provides a sufficiently smooth wall surface that facilitates the application of a protective coating. In addition, during laying, the walls are necessarily reinforced with reinforcing belts every 4-5 rows of foam blocks, which is necessary for the strength of the structure and the elimination of shrinkage phenomena. If the reinforcement is not performed, then during operation the shrinkage of the blocks will lead to cracking of the outer and inner protective layers.

When carrying out measures to protect the walls, the internal finishing of the foam blocks is first carried out, and only then the work is carried out from the outside. All finishing work should be done in warm, dry weather during the summer months. This is important so that the wall can dry well after interior decoration, that is, before it is completely insulated with external waterproofing. In winter, moisture in the pores can freeze, which means it can be conserved inside the material.

What is the interior finishing of foam blocks? Correctly finishing walls from foam blocks is possible only by providing reliable protection against moisture penetration. To do this, before starting to decorate the room with a topcoat, it is necessary to perform some mandatory work to level the surface, ensure adhesion and protect the foamed concrete.

Protective-leveling coatings are provided with several layers. First, the surface is primed with a special compound designed specifically for foam concrete. An obligatory element of the interior decoration is the imposition of a vapor barrier to exclude the appearance of condensation. It should be borne in mind that steam occurs in any living space and not only in the bathroom or in the kitchen. With his breath, a person ensures its presence in the room. Of modern steam insulators, it is especially necessary to note penofol, which is a roll material made of foamed polyethylene, which is covered with aluminum foil on both sides.

Further finishing construction depends on the option chosen. The most common methods are the following:

  • installation of drywall or chipboard, followed by decorative cladding;
  • plastering the wall for painting or whitewashing;
  • wallpaper;
  • lining with clapboard or other wood finishing materials.

Leveling walls with plaster mortar

Any option for wall cladding inside the premises first of all needs to ensure a flat surface, which is especially important in block construction. Leveling the surface is carried out by plaster. Such work is carried out in the following order:

  1. Surface preparation. This preliminary procedure includes thorough cleaning of the wall from dirt, adhering mortar, grease and oil stains. If there are major defects, they must be repaired.
  2. Primer. The special composition is applied with a paint brush or roller in a thin layer over the entire surface of the wall. It is important that it penetrates inside the foam blocks to a depth of about 3-5 mm. Wide seams between blocks are treated with adhesive.
  3. Installation of the mesh. After the primer has completely solidified, the entire wall surface of foam blocks is covered with an assembly mesh. The most commonly used mesh is fiberglass. This element strengthens the finishing coat and, most importantly, ensures the adhesion of the plaster.
  4. Plastering. The task of this operation is to perfectly level the surface. For plastering, it is recommended to use ready-made dry mixes for interior work based on gypsum or cement. Often, craftsmen use their own sand-cement mortar. In this case, they usually adhere to a 3: 1 ratio. The plastering technology depends on the subsequent facing. So, when preparing a wall for laying tiles, plaster in one layer is considered sufficient. If painting or wallpapering is planned, then a two-layer plaster with an outer, finishing layer is recommended that provides an ideal surface. In this case, the first layer (main) has a thickness of 2-3 cm, and the leveling, top layer is 10-12 mm.

Surface painting

After careful alignment of the foam block wall, the room can be decorated by painting it. This operation is performed on plaster, and therefore differs little from similar finishing works with other building materials used. However, one nuance should be noted: acrylic-type paints are undesirable for foamed concrete, since they exclude the presence of a "breathing" effect. When painting foam concrete, it is considered optimal to use paints on a silicate or silicone base.

Recently, the "loft" style is in vogue in the design of premises. This original interior needs the visibility of the wall masonry. In order to ensure this effect, the preparatory work is limited only to the primer, and it is applied without hiding the masonry structure. Accuracy of design is ensured by preliminary sanding of foam blocks. To enhance the security of the wall, it must be coated with an impregnating compound with hydrophobic properties.

Plasterboard finishing

Plasterboard interior decoration is one of the most common options. With such a finish, you can use any thermal and vapor barrier materials, as well as additional waterproofing. The technology is based on wall cladding with sheets of plasterboard on a crate made of wooden beams or a metal profile. As a rule, the frame is made by fixing vertical elements with a pitch of 45-55 cm. If necessary, they are reinforced with horizontal bridges.

Plasterboard installation works are carried out in the following order:

  1. The preparatory stage, which includes a primer and one-layer plaster.
  2. Installation of vertical lathing elements. For this, a U-shaped aluminum profile or a wooden bar measuring 20x40 or 40x40 mm is used. Fastening is provided with self-tapping screws.
  3. The imposition of hydro, heat and vapor barrier. First, a waterproofing made of a thick polyethylene film or roofing material is attached between the racks of the lathing. Then, if necessary, a layer of thermal insulation made of mineral wool, expanded polystyrene or other materials is applied.
