How to make a home climbing wall with your own hands - detailed instructions and cost of materials. Children's climbing walls Climbing for children at home

The children's climbing wall is an excellent machine for developing agility, flexibility, coordination of movements and motor skills. Plus, it's a ton of fun and enjoyment! We will tell you how to build a home climbing wall yourself.

Materials and tools:

 • Plywood sheet 240 x 120 cm, 21 mm thick. You can change the size of the climbing wall as you like.
 • Wooden beam 3x5 cm with a total length of 360 cm;
 • Climbing hooks 30 pcs.;
 • Perforator;
 • A hammer;
 • Hand saw or electric hoe;
 • 30 10 mm bulldog mortise nuts and the same number of 55 mm bolts;
 • Dowels and nails for them 5 mm, 8 pcs .;
 • Drills for 6 and 12 mm;
 • Self-tapping screws 4 mm;
 • Hex wrench;
 • Drill for a 6 mm perforator;
 • Paint on wood if desired.

Now let's get to work:

 • We process a sheet of plywood with a grinder, remove all burrs and irregularities. We carefully grind the chamfers so that the child does not get hurt while playing.
 • We place the plywood sheet horizontally and drill 30 arbitrary through holes with a diameter of 12 mm. Distribute them so that 1 sq. m. boards had about 15 holes at a distance of 20-25 cm from each other.
 • If you decide to make the climbing wall bright, it's time to get some paint and paint on the plywood board. Wait until the paint is completely dry before moving on.
 • We drive a mortise nut into each drilled hole. Use a hammer for this.

 • We collect the frame from the bars. Place them around the perimeter of the plywood blank and connect them together at the ends with self-tapping screws so that you get a frame.
 • We drill two 6 mm holes in the frame on the left, right, top and bottom. We attach the frame to the wall and, using it as a stencil, outline the holes for drilling. We remove the frame, drill holes with a puncher and insert the dowels. We attach the frame and drive in the dowel-nails. The frame is secured.
 • We attach the plywood sheet with mortise nuts to the wall and fix it at the edges with a screwdriver and self-tapping screws.

 • We attach the hooks with 55 mm bolts and a hex wrench. We check them for strength. If everything is all right, we spread the mats on the floor, call the child and start the first climbing lesson!

A home climbing wall can be made on almost any surface. Here are some ideas for inspiration

Life in the modern world has a fast pace. And, of course, it affects training. I'm sure many people have had periods when they didn't have time to go to workout. Some give up at such moments, do nothing and wait for a good opportunity, unexpected free time to go to the climbing wall. Some do not want to lose shape and do different exercises at home: push-ups, pull-ups, swing the press, who has a fingerboard - do hangs. And some do it in a radical way - they build a home climbing wall and exercise on it when they have a little free time before or after work. In this article, I'll show you how to build a small home climbing wall.

It's not difficult to build a climbing wall with your own hands.

Before you start building a climbing wall, think about what goals it should fulfill, where it will be located. Proceeding from this, the dimensions, the slope of the climbing wall, which hooks need to be purchased will be clear.

So that the construction of the climbing wall is not delayed, the first step is to order the holds. It usually takes one to two weeks for the hooks to be produced and delivered. During this time, you can think over the plan of the climbing wall and build a climbing wall. After that, it will remain for little - to wind the holds.

The reliability of the structure depends on the thickness and quality of the wall on which the climbing wall will be mounted. If the wall is load-bearing, you can safely attach wooden guides to it (wooden beams 40x40 mm, and more depending on the complexity of the structure), and then plywood boards with a thickness of 12 mm or more. If the wall is thin, you need to think about additional fastening of the beams for the rigidity of the structure; in some cases, it may be necessary to use iron guides and corners.

For a home climbing wall, I chose a free wall in the hallway. In order not to make horizontal guides, it was decided to increase the number of vertical beams to four.

I cut the beams and shields in a hardware store. The shop where I bought the shields provides a free cut to the sizes you need. The advantages of the store sawing are an even cut (I was not lucky, the master was in a hurry and cut a couple of shields a little inaccurately), saving time and effort. Therefore, before going to the store, make a clear plan of the climbing wall, write down all the dimensions. Think about what else you need, calculate the number of dowels and screws. This will reduce the number of trips to the store.

To fix the beams to the wall, I used Fischer dowels 8 x 65 mm and self-tapping screws 6 x 90 mm.

After installing the guides, you can go to the shields. At the planning stage, I had the idea to make a wall with small screw hooks. To install them, only a wooden flat base is required. But in the course of purchasing materials, I decided to make several holes for the bolt hooks (passive hooks). To install the hooks under the bolt, you will need to make holes with a diameter of 11.5 mm in them before installing the shields and insert a drive nut with a 10 mm thread, which is called a bulldog.

Hammer nut:

Installation of shields is not difficult. We set the shield according to the level and fasten it with self-tapping screws 5 by 50 mm to the guides.

After installing the skeleton and cladding of the climbing wall, I proceeded to leveling the surface of the climbing wall. Sandpaper removed the unevenness of the plywood, and also walked along the edges of the climbing wall.

The problem of lack of physical activity in children is becoming more and more urgent, especially for urban residents.

And if in good weather a child can throw out excess energy at least on the playground near the house, then in rain or severe frost this becomes impossible.

However, the energy does not go anywhere, and the lack of movement leads to whims and bad mood. You can solve the problem with installation of sports equipment in the apartment, in particular, a children's climbing wall.

Home climbing wall for children: what is it

In its simplest form, a climbing wall is vertical surface with small projectionslocated in a certain way, depending on the complexity of the track. A more extreme option implies the presence of additional inclined planes.

Photo 1. Climbing wall for children, made at home. The structure has several planes.

The main advantage of the climbing wall is that it does not take up much space in the room. The presence of such a sports equipment will help the child not only throw out excess energy, but also improve coordination, improve body flexibility, and train strong hands and tenacious fingers. Rock climbing develops tenacity, visual memory and logical thinking.

The geometry and dimensions of the climbing wall will depend on the size of the free area, which is planned to be allocated for his device. The simplest option for placing a climbing wall is one of the walls of the room. If space permits, you can build a corner climbing wall on two adjacent walls. The advanced version is a projectile with a negative slope. The apartment has a standard layout with room heights 2.5-2.8 m it is advisable to make the simulator to the very ceiling.

How to make a DIY wall for kids climbing at home

A self-made climbing wall is plywood board, reinforced along the perimeter with a wooden beam.

For reliability, the structure is additionally reinforced with stiffeners from the same bar in the center, and, if necessary, in other places.

Special children's hooks are screwed onto the fixed shield, which are artificial stones of various shapes and sizes.

You can buy them in specialized sports stores or order online. The hooks should not be too small so that the child's arms and legs do not get tired.

Reference. High-quality climbing wall holds are manufactured from a mixture of quartz sand and polymer materials.The surface of such products is rough, which allows the arms and legs to not slip while lifting.

Initially, smaller stones are placed at the bottom and serve as a support for the legs. As the child's skill grows, the small holds can be moved higher, turning into handholds.

Design and calculation of the required materials

For the manufacture of climbing wall will need:

 • plywood thickness 10-15 mm;
 • wooden bar 40 * 70 mm;
 • dowels and countersunk head bolts for fixing the timber to the wall;
 • self-tapping screws for connecting the frame and base;
 • a set of hooks and fasteners to them;
 • a hexagon for tightening the bolts;
 • drill or screwdriver with drill 11 mm;
 • emery cloth;
 • paint and decorative items on request.

The first stage will be designfuture climbing wall. Having decided on the location, you need to calculate the required amount of materials. The plywood footage directly depends on the area of the future simulator. Number of hooks - 5-7 pieces per 1 sq. m.If the hardware does not come with them, then you will need to purchase it additionally.

As a rule, the connection is suitable furniture nut DIN 1624 M10 (the so-called bulldog) with "antennae" at the edges, sticking into the surface of the plywood. The nuts will need the appropriate size screws DIN 912 M10,tightening with a hexagon. The easiest option is to take the hold with you to the store, where the sellers will select the fasteners suitable for the climbing wall.

Wireframe creation

At the second stage, the frame of the future climbing wall is created. Holes are drilled along the perimeter of the base in the wall with a step of 50-55 cminto which plastic dowels are driven.

To give the structure additional strength, add several stiffeners by screwing inside the perimeter parallel to the floor surface 2-3 planks from a bar.

The length and diameter of the dowels are selected depending on the material of the walls, and the size of the bolt is calculated by the formula: sheet thickness + timber thickness + dowel length. Countersunk bolts should be taken, since plywood will be screwed on top of the frame.

Attention! It is forbidden to fasten the climbing wall or the hooks themselves to drywall structures!

Preparation of the base

You can do this yourself using a hand router or order a cut - often sellers of building materials offer this service. Ready base mark for future holes.

The best option is mesh with a step of 20-25 cm horizontally and vertically, which in the future will allow you to rearrange the holds, creating new tracks of varying difficulty on the climbing wall.

Then a drill with a drill 11 mm(provided that diameter of the "bulldog" nut 10 mm) holes are made. The procedure is carried out on the front side so that possible chips are on the back. After that a "bulldog" is driven into each hole from the back. The finished base is screwed to the frame with self-tapping screws of the appropriate length, if necessary, it is processed with emery cloth and covered with paint.

Installation of hooks

The last step will be installation of hooksthat are secured in the selected holes with hex bolts. Such a climbing wall design allows you to easily change the location of stonescomplicating or simplifying the track.

At first glance, it may seem a simpler option to screw the plywood sheet directly to the wall, however it is not always possible to find the correct length of the bolts for the hooks, which leads to difficulty in tightening.

Let's find out why SKALODROM is a guaranteed SAFE EXTREME?

In Sweden, all elements over 1 meter from which children could fall and be injured were removed from playgrounds. Thus, children's leisure time was safe.

Thanks to this step, the percentage of child injuries has doubled. What is the reason for this? Due to the fact that children constantly want to climb somewhere, not satisfying this need, children began to massively climb trees and dangerous places that were not intended for this (with a complete absence of soft mats and safety systems).

After the unsuccessful experiment, the Swedish government completely changed the course of development: now a large number of playgrounds are created every year, where there is a street climbing wall of medium height.

Special safety mats as a means of belay

The first case is special, here the insurance is made thanks to thick mats, which are completely safe.

We would like to point out that the height of the climbing wall, the thickness and rigidity of the mats are calculated by CK FormAT specialists, based on standard solutions. Also on the basis of an individual order for a specific age group, taking into account all the characteristics of customers.

For example, we cannot recommend the use of mats at a height of over 3 meters without special training. At the same time, up to 3 meters, absolutely every beginner child can start climbing completely safely. Initially, it is desirable under the supervision of the parents, but after a few sessions, you can safely leave the child (from 7 years old) alone. In this case, parents should be present at the first classes in order to personally make sure that it is completely safe.

Automatic belay system = increased security

For climbing walls more than 4.5 m, use is mandatory.

There is a possibility of using mechanical, semi-automatic and automatic belay systems. We note that even with mechanical (in other words, manual belay), you do not need a professional instructor if you are an amateur beginner. Enough of one more person who has read our instructions, where everything is clearly and clearly spelled out. Automatic belay allows a person to overcome high-altitude routes on the climbing wall himself without involving other people. Such insurance is the safest.

For the manufacture of indoor and children's climbing walls, we use only environmentally friendly and safe materials that have been tested and are best suited for children. In particular, for the manufacture of popular climbing walls we use, which is designed for professional sports climbing walls and withstands static and dynamic loads of more than 200 kg. The plywood sheet goes through a detailed sanding process and is covered with safe paint and layers of non-toxic varnish for a longer lasting use.

As for relief, we, unlike a number of manufacturers, are guided primarily by safety, durability and environmental friendliness of materials. In particular, as one of the components, we use epoxy resin, which is many times more environmentally friendly and stronger than polyester resin, which is used by most manufacturers due to its ease of use and low cost. Yes, polyester resins are cheaper and easier to manufacture, but we will definitely not save on children's health, since the very idea of children's home and, in general, all climbing walls is a healthy lifestyle.

“Don't go there! Do not trample the beds! Why did you climb into the flower bed ?! " Children in the country often have even more restrictions than at home. Departure to the country house or suburban area becomes a real stress, because the young creature is pulled out of the familiar environment. It is too spacious here, there is too much oxygen and what to do here is completely incomprehensible. Sometimes they are forced to do unusual work, sometimes they are left on their own and the children do not know what to do with themselves ...

It's fun at the dacha! This attitude will allow the little person to love life outside the city. What is there in your country estate that you can't find at home? Fascinating and entertaining, forcing you to move and breathe deeply in the fresh country air ... The most popular and simple options are a slide, a sandpit, a pool, a trampoline and a swing. And if you make a rope maze or a climbing wall? We offer you several ideas that can be implemented on the site and that the child will definitely like.

Landscaping for children

Select a small corner for the child in the country and build there with him a real village with houses, paths and toy inhabitants (dolls or Lego men can play their role).

In the gardens of his village, your little one can plant flowers and herbs, just pick the safest ones. In no case do not decorate your tiny village with lilies of the valley, do not plant irises nearby (their roots are considered poisonous), there is no place for delphinium, foxglove and buttercups. Working together with the baby in his personal summer cottage, talk about plants, their benefits and possible harm.

When choosing a place for a children's corner in the country, make sure that evil nettles and prickly rose hips are not growing nearby, and that the fence boards are polished and will not reward the child with a splinter. Make sure that the mini-village is in the shade during the sundial, as the toddler may refuse to leave his property.

House for children in the country

There are many ready-made proposals and a lot of descriptions of how to make a house for children with your own hands. Tree houses are popular abroad. And we suggest you grow a playhouse for your child! Of course, it will take much longer, but you can plant seeds and choose plants with your baby.

A green shelter for young summer residents can be grown from sunflowers. Draw a circle, cut the grass out of its outline, and plant the sunflower seeds close together.

When the sunflowers grow (they should be about one and a half meters high), tie the flower heads together. The result is a hut-house in which you can hide from your parents.

A similar hut can be made from legumes. Such tapestries-wigwams are sometimes made only for decoration, and your baby can be presented with one such house for games.

At the beginning of the summer cottage, install the base sticks, securing them securely at the top. Plant the plants and adjust the direction as they grow, they should tend upward and braid the base. A hut in the country can be planted from beans, but it is better if it is tall sweet peas. When the pods are ripe, children will play and feast on fresh peas. In addition, this plant improves the soil by enriching it with nitrogen.

School board in the country

Children love to paint on walls and fences. This natural tendency has long been described by psychologists - kids perceive the world in full size, so they even prefer to draw a simple person as big as themselves. So let them draw whatever they want on the big board. It can be chalk or highlighter, it already depends on your preferences. Teenagers will also be happy to draw, since they associate the blackboard with a school where free artists are not given freedom. Do you remember your wonderful school years?

Outdoor auto track for children

This track will look great on the lawn. If not, then an untreated corner of the garden, overgrown with soft grass, will do. To make a race track you will need sand and cement, a motorcycle or bicycle tire, flags, paint and two hollow tubes that will simulate obstacles that cars can crash into.

Draw a track and cut off the sod (the depth will be about 5-10 cm), place the tire in the planned place so that it sticks out from the ground in a semicircle - it will simulate a tunnel. If the tire is installed slightly diagonally, then it can become a "dead loop" for desperate riders.

Fill the finished trench with a mixture of sand and cement, install the pipes and smooth the surface of the route with a trowel. When the track is dry, draw the lines, check the boxes and invite your child to play.

Rope park at your own dacha

A few meters of simple clothesline will make your little one squeal with delight. Between the trees (there should be at least four of them), it is necessary to pull the cord in a chaotic manner, and let the baby try to get through this web.

A dacha imitation of a rope park will bring joy to both children and adults. Try to overcome the obstacle course yourself - it's not that easy and very funny. Try not to get confused and be sure to keep an eye on your child as he or she has fun in the rope maze.

Swing in the country with your own hands: three budget options

A huge swing can be a good gift for the summer holidays that the child will spend in the country. They can be made from a wooden pallet by tying a rope to a sturdy branch of a large tree. The costs are minimal, and your baby and his friends will have plenty of delight!

Do not forget to sometimes check if the rope is frayed and if the branch to which the wooden pallet is tied is not cracking. Safety first.

Swing from an old chair

You can turn an old chair or an obsolete wooden chair into a swing by hanging them on a branch of a tall and strong tree.

Find an unnecessary chair and eliminate the legs. Attach two boards with screws under the bottom of the seat, and tie a rope to these boards. In order not to damage the tree, place a piece of thick leather or other material on the selected branch under the rope that will protect the branch from abrasion.

Paint the swing in a bright color, then it will become a creative element of your garden design. And children will be much more interesting!

A rocking skate chair is perfect for active and mobile children, because it is more convenient to swing on it while standing, rather than sitting. The author claims that it took him only 20 minutes to make this swing. The author of the skate-rocking chair was helped by his sons. Fathers and children have teamed up to have fun with benefit!

What you need: a skateboard (old or new), strong rope, a pair of rounded sticks, a drill. You or your little assistants need to remove the wheels and drill holes in the board.

Thread the cord through the holes, knotting the joints.

You can make "handles" so that the child is more confident on the future swing. To do this, drill two holes in the round sticks, thread the rope and again tie knots at the attachment points for reliability.

Do not tighten the knots too tightly, you may need to adjust the length of the cord so that the swing hangs evenly and the “arms” are symmetrical. Tie the finished rocking chair to a tree branch, personally check the finished object for strength and only then allow the children to have fun.

DIY climbing wall

It will be interesting for young fidgets to conquer the climbing wall. It is not necessary to make it high and very large, low climbing walls are also quite difficult, but they are safer and do not require rope belay.

A universal option would be the A-shaped wall, since on rainy days it can be moved under the roof and there to continue the fun. Try to make such a climbing wall with your children, and if they are capricious, they say the wall is too small, give a weighty argument - climbing low (up to 4 meters) boulders and walls is called "bouldering" and is a full-fledged sport.

To make a climbing wall for children, prepare special grips (you can buy them at specialty stores or find them on the Internet), beams, two sheets of plywood and carpet for them, galvanized bolts, washers and nuts.

Make two frames from the beams, connect their upper parts and fix them with bolts. Cover the plywood with carpet and glue it to the base, then attach the pads to the almost finished wall.

Homemade climbing wall is ready to conquer! Just be sure to keep an eye on your children, especially if they are still very young.

A huge water mattress will not replace the pool, but it will also bring a lot of pleasant emotions to your little ones. On such a bed it is soft, a little cool and absolutely safe.

To make such a bed, you will need thick film, scotch tape, parchment, iron and water for filling. No overspending will be required, although this thing looks expensive. We warn you right away, if you plan to keep a mattress filled with water for several days in the open air, then it is better to lay it on a sandy area. The lawn is not suitable, as the plants will not be able to breathe under the polyethylene and will die.

To tightly solder sheets of dense polyethylene, fold them together, place parchment paper from below and on top and press with a hot iron.

Try not to touch the film that is not protected by parchment with the iron, otherwise an unexpected hole will appear in the mattress. Remove the paper from the fused edges only after it has completely cooled down, otherwise you can make extra holes again. Although we still need one small hole - we will insert a hose there to fill the bed with water. After filling, cover the area with tape so that the water can be easily drained off.

Spray a cool water bed with water and let the kids have fun!

This concludes the hit parade of budget entertainment for children. We hope that they turned out to be useful to you and you will implement one or two of these ideas already in this summer season. And how you can do it - share the Green Portal with the readers! We are waiting for letters and photos to the email address
