Crowned. The fire-crowned king The fire-crowned king

Were united under the rule of Aragorn, and peace and prosperity returned to Middle-earth.

Aragorn was a direct descendant of Isildur son of Elendil. Isildur's heirs were Kings of Arnor until the kingdom was divided into three parts in 861 of the Third Age. Then the race continued in the Kings of Arthedain, and then, when that kingdom was destroyed by war and plague, in the Leaders of the Dúnedain. Aragorn was also a descendant of Anarion, whose heirs ruled Gondor, because Firiel, daughter of King Ondoher of Gondor, married Arvedui, the last King of Arthedain.

Aragorn was born on March 1, 2931, and only two years later became the sixteenth Chieftain of the Dúnedain when his father Arathorn II was slain by the Orcs. Then Aragorn and his mother Gilraen went to Rivendell, to the house of Elrond, who took the boy as his son and gave him the name Estelle, which means "Hope". Aragorn did not know his true name and origin until 2951, when he was 20 years old and Elrond saw that he was already an adult. Then the Lord of Rivendell gave Aragorn two relics of the House of Isildur: the Ring of Barahir and the fragments of Narsil.

The next day, Aragorn first saw Arwen, who had returned from Lothlórien to Rivendell to visit her father. He called her Tinuviel, because in beauty she resembled Lúthien Tinuviel, the Elf who sacrificed her immortality for the love of Beren, the Mortal. Aragorn fell in love with Arwen, but Elrond said that if she also fell in love with him, she would have to give up immortality, as Lúthien once did. He said that Arwen's age, life experience and background put her far above Aragorn, and revealed to Isildur's heir that many years of trials await him.

"Aragorn son of Arathorn, leader of the Dúnedain, hear me! A great destiny awaits you - either rise above all your ancestors since the days of Elendil, or fall into darkness with all that is left of your kind. Appendix A of The Lord of the Rings: "The Tale of Aragorn and Arwen" p. 340

Aragorn left Rivendell and traveled through Middle-earth, gaining knowledge and experience and overcoming many dangers. He traveled far to the east, to Rune, and to the south, to Harad, once entered Moria through the Gate of Blackbrook, and even explored the borders of Mordor, trying to find out the plans of Sauron. In 2956, Aragorn met Gandalf, became his friend and ally, and they traveled together frequently thereafter.

Aragorn went in search of Frodo, and on September 30 he overheard the Hobbits saying goodbye to Tom Bombadil at the Great East Road near Bree. Aragorn followed them to the Prancing Pony, but the innkeeper, Barliman Butterbur, prevented him from meeting Frodo. Aragorn, whom the locals called Strider, spoke to Frodo in the common room, and after he accidentally put on the Ring, went with the Hobbits to their room.

Aragorn told Frodo that the Nazgul were following him all the way to the village, and offered his help. Then Barliman brought a letter from Gandalf, which he forgot to send, and in which there was a verse about Aragorn. Frodo later learned that Bilbo had written this verse.

There is no brilliance in true gold, Not every wanderer is forgotten, Not everyone weakens under the yoke of years - The earth keeps its roots. The ash will flare up with fire again, In the dusk the beam will sparkle, The blade will return to the hilt, The king will find the crown. All that is gold does not glitter, Not all those who wander are lost; The old that is strong does not wither, Deep roots does not reach by the frost. From the ashes a fire shall be woken, A light from the shadows shall spring; Renewed shall be blade that was broken, The crownless again shall be king. The Fellowship of the Ring: "Strider" p. 182

Then Aragorn showed them Narsil, the sword that was broken, and said: "I am Aragorn, son of Arathorn, and if by life or death I manage to save you, I will do it." ( FotR, p. 183)

Frodo accepted this oath.

Aragorn advised the Hobbits not to go to their bedrooms, and he himself did not sleep at all, guarding them. During the night the hotel was attacked, but the Hobbits were not found. The next morning, Aragorn led them away from Bree and attempted to throw the Nazgul off his trail, passing through Chetwood and the Mosquito Marshes.

Despite all the precautions Aragorn had taken, five Nazgul attacked their camp on Weathertop. They forced Frodo to put on the Ring, but he resisted the Witch-king to the end, cutting through his cloak with a dagger and calling to Elberet. The Nazgûl managed to wound Frodo before Strider managed to drive them off with the help of burning branches. The Nazgul retreated, and Aragorn did all he could to help Frodo and led the Hobbits on as quickly as possible. He found the sign left by Glorfindel, and with the help of the Elven Lord, the travelers reached Rivendell.

There Aragorn met Arwen again. On October 25 the Council of Elrond took place. On it Boromir, the son of Denethor, Steward of Gondor, spoke of his dream in which he heard the voice "Seek the Broken Sword in Imladris ..." ( FotR, p. 259). Aragorn showed the wreckage of Narsil, and Elrond told the Council that before them was the Heir of Isildur. Aragorn considered that Boromir's dream was a call that his time had come to go to Gondor as Heir of Elendil, and announced his intention to go to Minas Tirith.

Narsil was forged again by the elven smiths, and Aragorn gave him a new name - Anduril, the Flame of the West. He joined the Guardian Band, and on December 25 they left Rivendell, heading south.

Aragorn and Boromir helped the Fellowship out of the snowdrift at the Crimson Horn Pass, clearing the path and carrying the Hobbits. When Gandalf proposed to go through Moria, Aragorn was against it, but in the end agreed, saying:

“You followed me, and we almost died in the snow, but no one said a word of condemnation. Now I will follow you, if the last warning does not frighten you. I'm not thinking about the Ring now, and not about the rest of us; I think of you, Gandalf. And I say to you: if you enter the doors of Moriah, beware!” The Fellowship of the Ring: "A Journey in the Dark" p. 310

The Brotherhood entered the Mines on January 15, 3019. In the Hall of Mazarbul they were attacked by Orcs. Aragorn killed many of them and carried the wounded Frodo out of the hall as they retreated to the Bridge of Khazad-Dum. There Gandalf fought the Balrog, telling the others to flee, but Aragorn and Boromir stayed behind, wanting to help. The magician with the help of a staff brought down the bridge, and the Balrog dragged him into the abyss.

Aragorn led the Fellowship out of Moria and brought them to Lothlórien. He was well known to Galadriel, Lady of the Golden Forest. At parting, she gave him a silver brooch with a green stone in the form of an eagle with outstretched wings, which Arwen had left for him. It was Elessar, the Elfstone, and that was the name he was to take.

The Fellowship left Lothlórien on February 16, and Aragorn led them down the Anduin in boats. When they sailed Argonat, its appearance changed, becoming more majestic. “Frodo turned and saw Strider, and yet it was not Strider, for the battered Pathfinder was no more. In the stern sat Aragorn son of Arathorn, upright and proud; he steered the boat with confident blows of the oar, his hood was thrown back, dark hair fluttered in the wind, light shone in his eyes: the king was returning from exile to his lands. - Do not be afraid! - he said. “I have long wanted to look at the statues of Isildur and Anarion, my ancient ancestors. In their shadow, Elessar, Elfstone, son of Arathorn of the house of Valandil, son of Isildur, heir of Elendil, has nothing to fear!" The Fellowship of the Ring: "The Great River" p. 409

There they found a pile of burnt bodies of Orcs left behind by the Rohirrim. At night, an old man appeared at their fire, who then disappeared along with their horses. In the morning, Aragorn found footprints that gave them hope that Merry and Pippin were still alive. But, following the trail into the forest, they met with Gandalf, who returned from his fight with the Balrog in the form of Gandalf the White. The magician told them that Merry and Pippin were alive and safe, and that the Three Hunters were to go with him to Theoden, King of Rohan.

On March 2, Gandalf freed Theoden from the influence of Grima, Saruman's spy, and the King decided to move against Isengard. Aragorn went with the Rohirrim, telling Eomer that they would soon draw their swords together, as he had promised.

The next day they met a messenger who informed them that Isengard's forces had already begun their advance. On the advice of Gandalf, King Théoden led his men to Helm's Deep. Soon the fortress was under siege. Although there seemed to be no hope, Aragorn said: "Dawn always brings Hope to Men" ( TTT, p. 142). He climbed the wall to watch the dawn and give Saruman's army a chance to surrender. But, although the heir of Isildur instilled reverent fear in the Men, the Orcs only laughed.

At sunrise, Aragorn rode out of Helm's Gate with King Theoden. They saw that during the night the entire Padi Valley was filled with Huorns. Then Gandalf and Erkenbrand arrived with a thousand Men, and the Orcs of Saruman fled into the forest, never to be heard from again.

On March 5, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli met again with Merry and Pippin at Isengard. After Gandalf's negotiations with Saruman, Grima threw a palantir at them from one of the upper windows of Orthanc. During the night, Pippin looked into the stone of Orthanc and confronted Sauron. Aragorn decided to take the palantir as its rightful owner, for he felt that the time was approaching when he would openly declare himself to Sauron.

Pippin went with Gandalf to Minas Tirith. Aragorn and the others back to Helm's Deep. But they were overtaken by the company of the Dúnedain, led by Halbarad, and with him were also the sons of Elrond, Elladan and Elrohir. They brought Aragorn's horse, Roherin, and brought back a banner made by Arwen. Elrohir gave Aragorn Elrond's message: "The days are short. If you are in a hurry, remember the Path of the Dead." ( RotK, p. 48)

People ran before the ghosts as they walked through the southern lands. On March 13, the detachment reached Pelargir, where there was a fleet of Corsairs of 50 ships. Aragorn sent the Dead ahead and they filled the ships as the Corsairs jumped overboard in terror. When the fleet was captured, Aragorn freed the Dead, giving them peace at last. He also freed the rowing slaves from the ships of the Corsairs, but many of them voluntarily remained on the ships, now at the mercy of Aragorn. Men from the southern provinces came to him, and he sent an army of four thousand under the command of Angbor from Lamedon north to Minas Tirith.

Aragorn led the fleet north up the Anduin; they reached Minas Tirith on March 15, at the height of the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. At first they were mistaken for the Corsairs, but the Heir of Isildur unfurled a banner embroidered by Arwen with the emblems of the White Tree of Gondor, the Seven Stars and the Crown of Elendil. Aragorn and Eomer met on the battlefield and fought side by side until their enemies were crushed.

Aragorn was not willing to enter Minas Tirith without the permission of the Steward of Gondor, nor to lay claim to the throne until Sauron was defeated. But when Gandalf called him to the Chambers of Medicine, where the wounded Merry, Eowyn and Faramir lay, Aragorn agreed to enter only as Captain of the Dúnedain of Arnor, and handed over authority over the city to Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth.

In the Chambers of Medicine, Aragorn asked that an atelas be brought to him, which, according to legend, in the hands of the King could heal those subjected to the Black Breath. Several leaves were found, and Aragorn healed three patients with them. Faramir, now Steward of Gondor, recognized Aragorn, though they had not met before, saying: “My lord, you called me. What will my king command?" ( RotK, p. 142)

Aragorn worked all night helping those who were wounded and touched by the Black Breath. Word spread that the King had returned, but he did not name himself, and his camp was still outside the city walls. On March 16, he summoned Eomer and Imrahil to his camp to decide what to do next. Gandalf advised them to march against Sauron, despite the fact that they could not defeat him by force, in order to distract the Dark Lord and give the Ringbearer the opportunity to complete the search. Aragorn agreed, and the others swore to follow him.

On March 18, the Army of the West, under the command of the heir of Elendil, set out from Minas Tirith. There were only 7 thousand of them. When they reached the ravaged lands before the Morannon, fear and despair seized some of the young and inexperienced Men. Aragorn took pity on them and sent those who could not go further to guard the crossing at Cair Andros.

On March 25 they reached the Black Gate. A Man called the Herald of Sauron came out to meet them and challenged the Army of the West. And though Aragorn said nothing in reply, the Herald of Sauron trembled under his gaze. The envoy of Sauron showed Frodo's mithril mail and other things, and demanded that the army retreat immediately, otherwise the Hobbit would be tortured. Gandalf rejected the demands and the Battle of the Morannon began. Aragorn stationed his forces on two hills, and the Host of the West fought the forces of Mordor until the Ring was destroyed and the kingdom of Sauron fell.

When Frodo and Sam were rescued from the crumbling Mordor, Aragorn healed their wounds. At a celebration in the Field of Cormallen, Elendil's heir knelt before Frodo and Sam, and seated the Hobbits on the throne, while the people cheered and praised them.

At dawn on May 1, Aragorn approached Minas Tirith and stopped in front of the gates of the fortress. Faramir, Steward of Gondor, met him there and called out to the people of the city:

"People of Gondor, listen to the Steward of this Realm! Look! Here, at last, came the one who claimed his rights to the crown. This is Aragorn, son of Arathorn, captain of the Dunedain Arnor, Leader of the Host of the West, bearer of the Star of the North, owner of the Reforged Sword, winner in battle, whose hands bring healing, Elfstone, Elessar from the family of Valandil, son of Isildur, son of Elendil from Numenor. Will he be king? Will he enter the City to live in it? And the whole army, and all the people exclaimed with one voice: “Yes!” The Return of the King: "The Steward and the King" p. 245

Translations

The name of Aragorn in translations, fortunately, did not change, but the nickname in each translation was new.

In one of the editions of Gruzberg, there was a variant “Skorokhod.

In addition, there were minor differences in translations in other nicknames for Aragorn. In particular - the absence of a soft sign in the names - Thorongil, Estel, Telkontar.

In the translation of Kistyakovsky - Envinyatar, and in addition - Elvish Beryl.

All translations of elvish names in the encyclopedia are correct and based on Appendix D.

Editor's note

Word Strider means "one who walks with long strides", and is not literally translated into Russian. The "Wanderer" variant, in my opinion, is too "sublime" for the contemptuous nickname given by the inhabitants of Bree.

), in Sindarin - Edelharn, Elfstone, Aragorn was crowned.

Aragorn also received several names and nicknames.

"Estelle", translated from Quenya - "Hope", - was the name of Aragorn in Rivendell until he was 20 years old.

"Dunadan", translated from Sindarin - - "man of the West", - this is what Bilbo called him.

"Thorongil," Sindarin for "Eagle of the Star," was the nickname of Aragorn in Gondor, for he was swift and sharp-eyed, and wore a silver star.

"Strider" (Strider) - so nicknamed him by the inhabitants of Bree because he could walk quickly on his long legs. In Quenya, this nickname sounded like "Telkontar", and it was worn by the descendants of Aragorn.

"Longshanks" and "Frantic Tramp" (1) - this is what Bill Fernie called him.

"Wingfoot" - this is what Eomer called him at the first meeting, surprised at the speed with which Aragorn and his companions got from the Emyn Muil to the place of their meeting.

Envinyatar, Quenya for Renovator, was how he called himself in the Chambers of Healing.

He is also given several titles - Chief of the Dunedain, Heir of Isildur, Great King, King of the Reunited Kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor, Lord of the Western Lands, King of the West, Lord of the White Tree.

Coat of arms

Appearance

Aragorn was tall, grey-haired, grey-eyed, and of a lean build. Aragorn's height was 6 feet 6 inches (about 198 cm).

In form and spirit, Aragorn greatly resembled Elendur, son of Isildur.

Character, knowledge, skills

In Aragorn the greatness of the kings of old was revived.

Aragorn was the hardiest of men, skilled in the arts and knowledge. He excelled all other men, for he was elven wise and had a fire in his eyes that few could bear when it flared up. His face became sad because of the fate that fell on him, but still in the depths of his heart lived a hope from which joy sometimes arose.

Aragorn was loved by all who knew him well.

As conceived by Tolkien, Aragorn and Gandalf acted as opposites of Sauron, each in his own aspect.

In one of his letters, Tolkien discusses what would happen if someone with the One Ring encountered Sauron. The author comes to the conclusion that in the presence of Sauron, no one, with the exception of a very few equal to him in power, could hope to save the Ring from him. None of the mortals, not even Aragorn.

Aragorn had the gift of foresight and healing. The latter can be seen as "magical" or at least as a combination of magic, pharmaceuticals and "hypnotic techniques".

Gandalf called Aragorn the greatest tracker and hunter of this age of the world.

Bilbo dedicated a poem to Aragorn:

There is no sparkle in true gold,
Not every wanderer is forgotten
Not everyone weakens under the yoke of years -–
The earth keeps its roots.
The ashes will flare up with fire again,
In the dusk a ray will sparkle,
The blade will return to the hilt,
The king will take the crown.

Aragorn was able to die as befits unfallen people: the departed passed into a new state, allowing them to achieve greater wisdom and peace of mind, heal from all spiritual and bodily wounds, and, finally, die voluntarily - and even wishing this, die in "estel".

In an unpublished letter, Tolkien wrote that although no one knew the plans of the One for people after the end of the world or after their death, Aragorn believed that they were good and that if he and Arwen obeyed this trust, they would be reunited.

A family

Biography

Aragorn was born March 1, 2931 of the Third Age. His father, Arathorn, was chieftain of the Dúnedain of the North and was killed by an orc arrow when Aragorn was two years old (2933 of the Third Age). Then Gilraen and little Aragorn settled in Rivendell, and Elrond replaced the boy's father and fell in love as his own son. Elladan and Elrohir also loved him, took him hunting with them and taught him everything they knew. In Rivendell, Aragorn's name was Estel, Hope, and at the behest of Elrond his true name and origin were kept secret, for the Wise knew that Sauron was looking for Isildur's heir.

When Estel was 20 years old (2951 of the Third Age) and he returned from the campaign, having performed great deeds together with the sons of Elrond, Elrond, seeing that Aragorn had become beautiful in appearance and noble and matured, revealed his true name and origin and gave him hereditary relics of his family. The Lord of Rivendell gave him the Ring of Barahir and the fragments of Narsil, but he kept the scepter of Annuminas for the time being, since Aragorn had yet to earn it. Elrond also predicted to his adopted son that his life would be long, longer than that of ordinary people, if he could endure a severe test in the future. The next day, Aragorn, walking through the woods, met Arwen and thought that he was dreaming, or even that he had received the gift of elven minstrels, who could bring to their eyes what they sing about. For he sang of the meeting between Beren and Lúthien, and it seemed to him that Lúthien was coming to meet him. Then he, like Beren before, cried out "Tinuviel, Tinuviel!", because he did not know her name and origin. Arwen answered him and told about herself. And from that first meeting they fell in love with each other.

After this, Aragorn became silent, and Gilraen noticed it. He yielded to her inquiries and told of his meeting with Arwen. Gilraen told him that he wanted too much and Elrond would not agree to this marriage. But the lord of Rivendell also knew how to read in the hearts and therefore once called Aragorn. Elrond told him that he had many years of trials ahead of him, and until the time comes and he becomes worthy, he will have neither wife nor bride. He also told Aragorn of the fate of the children of Elrond, who were ultimately to choose which people they wished to share in the fate of, and of his sadness at the possible separation from Arwen.

After this conversation, Aragorn left Rivendell and went into the wilderness. For almost thirty years that followed, he fought against Sauron and befriended Gandalf (in 2956 of the Third Age), from whom he learned wisdom. Together with the wizard, he made many dangerous journeys, but more often he traveled alone. His paths were long and difficult, and when he wasn't smiling, he looked gloomy. Yet Aragorn seemed, when he did not hide his true guise, filled with majesty as a king in exile. He hid under many guises and gained fame under many names. Aragorn served the king of Rohan, Tengel. Thence he came to Gondor to the Steward Ecthelion II, and the Gondorians called Aragorn Thorongil the Star of the Eagle, because he was swift and sharp-eyed, and wore a silver star on his chest. Ecthelion loved Thorongil and listened to his advice. Aragorn warned the Steward against placing too much trust in Saruman and advised him to listen to Gandalf. Thorongil also often drew Ecthelion's attention to the pirates of Umbar. Having received the permission of the Steward, Aragorn gathered a small fleet and landed unnoticed in Umbar, and set fire to most of the ships stationed there. Thorongil personally slew the Harbor Captain and led the fleet away with few losses. But having reached Pelargir, Aragorn, to everyone's surprise and sadness, did not return to Minas Tirith, but sent a message to Ecthelion, in which he said that other things were calling him and that he would not return to Gondor soon. The departure of Thorongil caused despondency in Minas Tirith, and everyone considered it a great loss - all but Denethor II. At Pelargir, Aragorn boarded a boat and crossed the Anduin, and went alone to the East and far to the South, where unfamiliar stars shone (2). There he studied the hearts of people, equally evil and good, and revealed the plans and intrigues of the servants of Sauron, including against himself.

When Aragorn was forty-nine years old (in the year 2980 of the Third Age), he, returning from the borders of Mordor and heading for Rivendell, passed Lorien and was admitted there by Galadriel. He did not know that Arwen was there, and Galadriel dressed him in silver and white robes and a gray elven cloak, and a bright stone adorned his forehead. In this attire, Aragorn looked like one of the lords of the elves from the Isles of the West, and in this form he appeared before Arwen. And at that moment she made her choice and her fate was sealed. They roamed the lawns of Lothlórien for some time, and on Midsummer's Day they were engaged on the hill of Cerin Amroth. Arwen promised him that she would accept the lot of mortals, and Aragorn gave her the Ring of Barahir as a sign of engagement.

Before the events in Bree at the end of the Third Age, Aragorn had last met Gandalf in May 3018 at Sarn Ford, where the wizard told him that Frodo would go to Rivendell in the last week of September, and so Aragorn went about his business.

During his wanderings, Aragorn wandered into Bree, where he sometimes told strange stories to the inhabitants of this village and where he received the nickname Strider. When he learned that Gandalf was missing, he began to follow the East Road, on which he saw four hobbits (Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin) from an ambush and followed them to the Prancing Pony (September 29, 3018 of the Third Age). There he introduced himself to Frodo as Strider and advised him to keep an eye on Pippin's speeches and do something so that he would not spill the beans about the Ring. When Frodo inadvertently put on the Ring, Aragorn revealed to him that he knew his real name and invited him to talk. He came with the hobbits to their living room and invited Frodo to tell what he knew and give good advice, and in return demanded a reward - the hobbits were to take him with them until he wanted to leave them. Aragorn told the hobbits how he had heard their conversation with Tom Bombadil from ambush and followed them to the inn, and that he had been looking for a hobbit named Frodo Baggins for a long time. He warned them about the Nazgûl and urged Frodo to take him with him. At first, the hobbits did not believe Strider, but after a letter from Gandalf, where Aragorn was mentioned, they decided to trust him. After Merry confronted the Nazgûl, Aragorn advised them not to go to their rooms, while he went with Nob to get their things. Then they piled their bags and clothes on the floor, pushed the bench against the door, and closed the window. The hobbits lay down on the floor, and Aragorn sat down in a chair opposite the door, and seemed to have been up all night. In the early morning he got the hobbits up and seeing how their rooms were torn apart, they decided to get out of Bree as soon as possible. After buying a pony from Bill Fernie (since the ponies disappeared during the night) and packing for the journey, Aragorn and the hobbits left Bree (September 30, 3018 of the Third Age).

Aragorn first led them along the road, and then they turned off the road and went on stealthily. Strider wanted to get to Cloudy Peak, where they could meet Gandalf and look around. On the way to the former Amon Sul, they saw something similar to flashes of lightning (later it turned out that this was the work of Gandalf, who fought off the Nazgul). Soon Aragorn and the hobbits climbed Cloudy Peak. Strider found the stone left by Gandalf there and knew he had to be on his guard. From the southern edge, Aragorn noticed the figures of the Nazgul, who were moving towards them. He decided that it would be safer at the top, and they lit a fire. Strider told them the story of Beren and Lúthien. Soon black shadows climbed up the hill. Then Aragorn ordered the hobbits not to leave the fire and take long burning branches, because the Nazgul were afraid of fire. As a result of the attack (October 6, 3018 of the Third Age), Frodo was wounded, but the Black Riders left, frightened of Aragorn and even more of the Ring-bearer. Strider found the blade with which Frodo had been wounded, but soon the blade disappeared, leaving only the hilt. Aragorn laid the hilt in his lap and sang something in an unknown language, and then turned to the Ring-bearer and spoke a few words to him in a low voice. Strider went to fetch the atelas and washed it on Frodo's shoulder, who felt a little better. It was decided to leave the hill as soon as possible, and they set off.

Aragorn became one of the Nine Guardians. The elves reforged Narsil for him, and the sword became known as Anduril, the Flame of the West.

December 25, 3018 The Keepers left Rivendell and headed south. They reached Eregion on January 8, 3019 of the Third Age, and then tried to cross Caradhras (January 11-12), but failed. Then it was decided to go through Moria, but this did not please Aragorn much, because he was afraid for Gandalf. He told the wizard: "If you cross the gates of Moria, beware!". As it turned out later, his words were prophetic. Having repulsed the attack of the Wargs (January 13) and escaping from the monster from the depths, they entered Moria.

After the festivities, Aragorn went with the funeral procession of King Theoden to Edoras (July 19, 3019). Stopping at the Gray Forest under Amon Din, he heard the sound of drums resounding in the hills, but no one could be seen. Then the heralds, at the behest of Aragorn, proclaimed that King Elessar would grant the Forest of Druadan to Ghan-buri-ghan and his people, and that no man would enter the forest again without their permission, and after that the drums fell silent.

Arriving in Edoras (August 7, 3019) and celebrating the feast on Theoden, Aragorn with Gandalf, hobbits, elves of Rivendell and Lorien went further (August 14), first to Helm's Deep (August 18), and then to Isengard (August 22) where they met the Ents. Elessar thanked Treebeard and the Ents for their help, and gave them possession of that valley and the lands west of the mountains, and asked them to watch over Orthanc. The Walker gave Aragorn the keys to Orthanc. The king also invited the Ents to explore the lands to the east in search of their wives.

Leaving Isengard, the travelers moved west to the Rohan Gap. In the place where Pippin once looked into the palantir, Aragorn bade them farewell.

With the return of the king, the worship of the One was renewed, but temples were never built for him.

Aragorn was a monarch and had the right of indisputable decision in case of disagreement, but he ruled within the framework of an ancient law, which he put into practice (and interpreted), but which he did not create himself. Elessar revived the Great Council of Gondor, in which Faramir and the rulers of Ithilien descended from him were the main adviser. He retained the position of Viceroy, who was the representative of the king in the event of his departure abroad of the state or illness, or in the interval between his death and the accession to the throne of his heir.

Having received the crown, Elessar began to restore order in the kingdom, and one of his first works was the restoration of Orthanc, where he decided to establish a palantir, which Saruman had once used. Then the secrets of this tower were revealed. Many of the treasures of Rohan have been found, as well as those that have been stolen from mounds and graves. In addition, a secret door was discovered in a steel cabinet, which contained a small gold case on a thin chain, in which Isildur once kept the One Ring, as well as Elendilmir, which the Dúnedain considered irretrievably lost. Elessar took Elendilmir with reverence, and when he returned north and sat on the throne of Arnor, Arwen crowned him with an ancient stone. But Aragorn did not want to endanger the stone again and put on Elendilmir only on great holidays. On other days, he wore with his royal attire the stone that was made by the Elves of Rivendell for Valandil.

In 2018, the film "Hellboy" (previously the movie was called "Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen") will be released. It will no longer be Guillermo del Toro who will make such a movie, unfortunately many fans devoted to him and his work. But from now on, the project will have an R rating, to the delight of others. Interesting?

Who hasn't heard of Hellboy? At least, if a person is not interested in comics, then he must have heard about the film. In 2004, the Mexican director offered the world his vision of the cinematic Hell Boy, and many liked it.

The tape itself was interesting, well, it could not have done without it. The advancement of the plot presented in the film has become a very exciting spectacle, but we can’t discount Ron Perlman, the lead actor, by any means.

Guillermo del Toro literally created a cult following around his Hellboy, and after the original film, the world saw its sequel.

"The Hero from Hell" was continued by the "Golden Army", but the story ended there. I would like, of course, to see another masterpiece from the cult Mexican cinematographer, but, alas, no luck.

Now we are waiting for the restart of history. Rise of the Blood Queen will introduce a new Hellboy to the world. It will be something completely different. In the literal and figurative sense.

In general, Hellboy is a creature from hell, literally a boy who appeared in our world straight from the underworld. However, he also has a real name - Anung Un Rama: it means something like "crowned with flame" - literally "and a crown of flame is set on the forehead."

Yes, yes, these are the very horns that the hero of Ron Perlman constantly cut off from his head, more precisely, from his forehead. Together with them, he looked very intimidating. Just imagine a blood-red man who came to our world from hell, with huge horns and a height of two meters and a weight of more than two hundred kilograms.

This is the real Beast of the Apocalypse, and it's good that he is on the side of good. Consider us lucky.

Hellboy first appeared in the pages of comics. Mike Mignola designed it for Dark Horse Comics. His sketches debuted in 1993, that is, more than 10 years before the world faced the cinematic Hellboy.

Basically, we've covered everything you need to know about this trait. Everything else you can freely draw either from comics or from two films made by Guillermo del Toro.

Now you can go directly to the review of the upcoming project with peace of mind.

Director and screenwriters of the project

Neil Marshall was entrusted to direct the reboot of Hellboy.

Neil Marshall is a British director who once worked as an editor. This experience gave him the opportunity to do well in the future with action scenes in films. He was invited to shoot episodes of the series Game of Thrones, Hannibal and Westworld.

Before that, Neil Marshall became famous for such films:

  • "Dogs Warriors"
  • "Descent",
  • "Judgment Day"
  • and Centurion.

All four of his works can rightly be called cult. After them, he was trusted with just the same shooting of popular TV shows.

Subsequently, Neil Marshall focused entirely on television, only once leaving for some time to shoot a separate segment, which then became an integral part of the Monster City movie almanac.

Soon, the British filmmaker will have to remember everything he did at the dawn of his career as a director: how to shoot a feature meter. And after Hellboy, he will have another full-length movie in his hands: Skull Island: The Blood of King Kong, but that will be a completely different story.

Neil Marshall, during the filming of "Rebirth of the Blood Queen", will be guided by a text created by a couple of Andrew Cosby and Christopher Golden, who agreed to transfer the Mike Mignola comic to the big screen.

Andrew Cosby, for his part, boasts past involvement with projects like Ghost Whisperer and Eureka. He wrote scripts for them, but he even happened to produce the action movie "Two Barrels".

Soon, a film adaptation of Andrew Cosby's novel "Jeremiah Harm" is planned to be released, which was directed by Timo Vuorensola, the author of "".

Jeremiah Harm is somewhat similar to Hellboy, at least in terms of his brutality. Would you like to see the story of this character, filmed by a notorious Finnish filmmaker?

Merlin, Musketeers, Batman, Transformers and the Devil's Double

Sam McCurdy and Paul Kirby are responsible for the visual component of the project.

Cinematographer Sam McCurdy previously filmed episodes of the TV series Merlin, The Musketeers and the same Game of Thrones, and also had a hand in the creation of Lee Tamahori's The Devil's Double.

He is well acquainted with Neil Marshall, and they have worked together several times before. Therefore, the result that came out of this whole enterprise, it seems, you can imagine a little.

The production designer for the upcoming Hellboy film is Paul Kirby.

This man, in addition to "The Devil's Double", came up with visual images for projects like "Batman Begins" directed by Christopher Nolan, "Phantom of the Opera" by Joel Schumacher, "Kingsman: The Secret Service" by Matthew Vaughn and "Captain Phillips" by Paul Greengrass.

It fell to Mark Sanger to edit the footage for the Hellboy reboot.

This British filmmaker is an Oscar winner. He got it for "Gravity" by Alfonso Cuarón, which is remarkable.

After her, he dealt with the "knights": "The Last Knights" by Kazuaki Kiriya and "Transformers" (those that "The Last Knight") by Michael Bay.

I would like to believe that "Rebirth of the Blood Queen" will help this good man to reveal his talent to the fullest. Still, he glued the footage by Lubezki himself, and this, you see, is worth a lot.

Also in 2018, another film with which he has a specific involvement will be released: The Jungle Book: The Beginning, the new work of yesterday's debutant in film direction Andy Serkis, a famous British actor who became famous for his inimitable performance of Gollum and animals on the big screen.

The cast of the new "Hellboy"

At this point in time, the cast of the new "Hellboy" is being recruited.

So, now there is a place in it for the following actors and actresses:

  • Milla Jovovich ("The Fifth Element", "Resident Evil", "Joan of Arc"),
  • Ian McShane ("Pillars of the Earth", "Deadwood", "American Gods"),
  • David Harbor ("Stranger Things", "The Rake", "Lie to Me")
  • and Sasha Lane ("American Cutie").

Actually, Hellboy, a creature from hell, will be played by David Harbor, an experienced actor who recently starred in the TV series Stranger Things.

As you can see, not the last people will keep him company on the set. What is Ajax, Lilu, Mr. Wednesday and American Cutie worth! It's like a dream company, isn't it?

Below you can see what David Harbor will look like as Hellboy.

R-rated Hellboy plot

The plot of the movie Hellboy, which used to have a subtitle: Rise of the Blood Queen, has not yet been disclosed. We don't know for sure whether the audience will again show the appearance of Hellboy on Earth or not. Perhaps the authors of the project will limit themselves to only a short mention of this fact, such as flashbacks.

At least we know for sure that the new Hellboy will be angrier than usual. Rating R allows you to develop the character properly, and James Mangold's "Logan" is a living proof of this.

By the way, the same Bloody Queen (if, of course, she will still be there) will be played by Milla Jovovich. It is with her, probably, that the hero of David Harbor will face face to face, on whose forehead a crown of flame will be installed. Are you scared already?

Movie release date

The release date for Hellboy (Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen) is slated for 2018. There is no concrete data regarding the premiere of the project yet. Follow the updates on the site to stay up to date with all the latest news related to the restart of the franchise, the main character in which is the devil, albeit a good one, no matter how paradoxical it may sound.

Instead of a third Ron Perlman-starring Hellboy movie that Guillermo del Toro would love to take on, we'll soon see Neil Marshall's vision of the character's development with the direct assistance of David Harbour.

Perhaps that picture would actually be epic, but we will never know. But now we are offered an R rating.

It remains only to take it for granted and believe that the new team of Hellboy creators will succeed.

By the way, it is now known that the film will be called simply Hellboy - that is, it has lost its mysterious subtitle.

Trailer for Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen is coming soon.

Chapter 468: Crowned Sovereign

"Let me warn you." The cinnabar bird laughed. “You need to become stronger than the Demon Lord if you want to protect the Divine Beast in the world, and as your successor, it is your duty to protect this world!”

"Let me explain a few things before I give you my legacy."

“There are countless worlds and spheres in this universe. The difference between the world and the realm is massive and meaningful. The area is a broken world, and there are many reasons for how this could happen.”

“One is that it has treated its inhabitants badly. If the world has not kept healthy, then it will become sick and will not be able to withstand the pressure of the surrounding space.”

“You'd be surprised how sick the world can get, but it's a very simple thing. worlds of living beings. They are formed from the flesh and blood of God who created them, and thus they are still a living organism. If the inhabitants do not relate to the world, it will consume its life force to keep themselves alive. Although eventually this energy will be exhausted and it will collapse.”

“Although it sounds strange, I promise you that when you become the Crowned Sovereign Divine Beast World, you know what I mean when I call her a living organism.”

“Another way is if the world gets too old. Naturally, everything that is alive inevitably dies. The worlds, as I said, are made from the flesh and blood of the gods who made them. There are ways to increase the life force of the world, but in the end, every world will meet its end. At the end of their lives, they turn into worlds, just a fragment of their personality.”

“Another point is that if there is no Crowned Sovereign, then the world will not be able to sustain itself and will die out.”

“I won't forget!” Cinnabar bird said seriously, and his tomb tone caused Hui Yue and Lang Feng to listen. “The God who is educated in life has achieved connection with the world, and as a result, this God has become the heart and circulatory system of the world. Without God performing this function, the world would quickly fall apart.”

“At the center, every world is in the making. The task of education is to create the energy of the world. It can be the essence of heaven and earth, the Worldpower of the ancestors, the life force, or various other types of energies. These are the energies that allow trees to grow, for life to flourish, and for living beings to become cultivators. These formations are as diverse as the stars in the night sky, but to become a true Crowned Sovereign you must take possession of the life formations. The current crowned lord of this world is only half of the sovereign.”

“After we went into eternal sleep we placed one of our guardians as the Crowned Sovereign. He was to be the guardian while our sons took care of the world. The place was prosperous, but what an expert came to power.”

“Although we entered an eternal sleep and merged with the constellations, we were aware of what was happening. Unfortunately, we were at the center of a consolidation like a constellation, so we couldn't leave to help our sons when we saw that they had been deceived!”

“This person is still and entered the shaping of life. Although we cannot avenge our sons, nor have we been able to do anything against this man, we have made sure to keep some information from him. He passed the test and was able to see the formation of life, but none of us told him that he would not be able to return to this world when he became God.”

“At the time this man went through the ordeal by fire, the formation of life belonged to the Guardian we chose. He was associated with the formation of life with his blood seal, and although he did not bring it with him, there was no doubt about who was the owner of the formation.

“When this young man entered into the formation of life, was able to teach to the level of God, becoming God, he returned to this world, but he does not bind education for himself in any way. When he later tried to return to the world, he found that it was impossible.”

The vermilion bird began to laugh. “You should have seen his face when he realized he had lost the best opportunity in the world!”

“But he doesn't get frustrated for long. Mental that male power is not normal. Instead, he trained for another thousand years before he defied our guardian and killed him.”

“This man is being used in dastardly ways. He cheated and played with everyone to win this battle, and although the price he paid was high, he was successful.”

“When he killed him, the formation of life became an ownerless object. Although this person could not merge with the world a little, he could not control it, as a true Crowned Sovereign would be able to. Only the Crowned Sovereign who controls the process of shaping life is capable of relying on the world's life force to aid them in battle. Since he has no education, he does not have this opportunity.”

“When you bind the formation of life you must do it with the blood seal. To do this, ask the guide who was on your side during the trial, and he will explain to you.”

“Taking to shape life will allow you to fully merge with the world. When you have merged with him, then you can finally push away that false God who is in the way and take over his position.”

“As the Crowned Sovereign, as your world exists, you will become many times stronger! Not only will you have your own internal power supply, but you can draw energy from your world and use it if you are in a problem situation.”

"However! Do not use frequently. If you draw energy from your world, it's easier to leave less and less energy to sustain life. If you don't use too much, it should be fine, but if you overdraw, this energy source will be subject to droughts, hurricanes, and other natural disasters as your world rushes to its doom.”

“But all this and much more you will learn when you become a Crowned Sovereign. All these things you can experience for yourself. My words don't really do them justice."

“Okay, I've explained enough already. Here is my gift to you, my successor.”

Suddenly, a huge fireball appeared in front of Hui Yue. This fire is not as hot as the Eternal Flame that it soaks, or the Blue Phoenix Flame, but within was an energy he had never seen before. It was so overwhelming, so invigorating, that he couldn't help but take a deep breath.

Holding out his hand, Hui Yue hesitated slightly. He wasn't sure if he should try touching it. According to the bull, it was a miraculous flame that could even bring the dead back to life. He knew from other experts in the trials that this fire was not as great as it seemed.

"This is the Nirvana of the Phoenix Flame." The voice called. “I'm not sure if you've been introduced, but if not, let me give you a quick overview. The flame was something that I found in an old grave and I had to go through many dangers to get my feathers on that particular flame. Flames are ranked differently depending on their strength, and Nirvana Phoenix is a divine fire flame. This is the highest rated flame to be found, and while the Phoenix Flame Nirvana cannot be used in combat, it has a power unlike any other. Your Eternal Flame is an immortal fire, a rank just below the divine flame level. Fortunately, you can evolve it into a divine flame if you feed it enough, the essence of the flame. I don't have time to explain it, but one day you will know.”

“Nirvana Phoenix Flame is filled with the energy of the dead. Before the soul enters the circle of reincarnations, this flame can pull them out and place them in their body once more.”

“This is truly a miraculous product that ensures that no one is going to hell. Unfortunately, there is a downside to using this wonderful element on the soul, like all other wonderful treasures in the universe.”

“Each time you are resurrected, you will lose some of your talents, intellect, and memories as the price for such an effect.”

“From the moment you die, the energies of the dead will enter your soul and drag you to hell. Inside the Underworld, the sky is black with Black Miasma everywhere. To the underworld, the underworld Palace where Yanluo resides. In his mansion, the Underworld is on fire. This is another divine flame. The black miasma was all created by this black flame, and the entire other world is shrouded in the energy that this flame releases. This energy is called the essence of the Underworld. This heavenly energy is closely associated with the dead, and when one dies the essence of the Underworld entered his soul and slowly removed their memories. After the soul reaches the afterlife, wander through the plains of despair until the day no trace of your memory remains. After which Yanluo and his judges will evaluate the individual and allow for them to be reborn into a new life depending on their previous deeds. Some become heaven-defying talents, while others become mistakes. Some plants while some will become rock.”

“Even if you died, only for a short moment, this process still affects you, and thus you will suffer some consequences.”

“Getting resurrected once or twice doesn't do much harm, but if resurrected too often, you'll become brainless and zombified. You will be no different from the dead, wandering on the plains of despair to the underworld.”

“These soldiers have followed me for countless eons. They were my elite allies and friends who could help me with tasks whenever I couldn't walk myself. However, when we created this world, they offered to join in and take care of it for us. At the time, we weren't aware of the side effects from the Nirvana Phoenix Flame. By the time we realized this, it was already too late.”

“When you take this Nirvana Phoenix flame and leave this world, I want you to kill all the flame soldiers. Kill them and let them enter the reincarnation cycle. They mindlessly carry out their duties long enough! Release them; they deserve better than that!”

His voice was full of regret and depression. Hui Yue could fully understand his sadness. To see his noble followers gradually lose their mind, talent, and even forget those they have ever treasured, this can only be described as hell!

“You can touch and absorb this fire. This will be your middle dan tian and you can invoke it however you want. The flame will not have any negative effects on you, because it is not the flame itself that causes such side effects, but that the resurrected person has already died.”

Hui Yue nodded his head as he imagined. At first, he really wasn't interested in touching the flames, as it was possible for him to go crazy or worse. But when he heard the words of the vermilion bird, he no longer hesitated. He raised his hand and stretched.

The moment he touched the warm flames, his skin, which had been rough with drawn swords and training every day, suddenly smoothed out. His skin, which had been tanned from the outside under the hot sun of this world, slowly turned back to its familiar porcelain white. His skin seemed perfect. Now she looked young and flawless, as if he were a young craftsman who had never worked a day in his life.

Thinking for a second, Hui Yue cut his hand, but he was surprised how he saw that the wounds were closing much faster than before. This time, he doesn't need to use his life force green witch energy to heal himself, the energy came out of Nirvana Phoenix Flame.

‘There seems to be more to this flame than I thought.’ He muttered to himself as a lovely smile spread across his face.

“Well, it's time for us to leave this room. I'm already in my eternal sleep, so I can't guide you in your future endeavors, but I hope you make me proud. Remember to keep an eye out for my beloved son!”

Soon the voice disappeared and the door leading to the stairs swung open. A warm wind entered the hall and circled around. This wind caused Hui Yue to blink and return to reality; he was no longer focused on the Phoenix Flame Nirvana, but the fact that they had finished testing. With a satisfied expression, he moved towards the door.

The world outside seemed exactly the same as it had been when he left. Moving up the stairs with the furious wind was just as difficult as it had been before. Slowly climbing the stairs, Hui Yue found that he was not the first to arrive, but he was not the last.

In front of him was Sha Yun, Wang Ju Long, and Cai Jie. No one has arrived, just yet and no signs of life formation can be seen. The bull was waiting by their side, and he fidgeted with excitement as he smiled uncontrollably.
