How blinds are attached to plastic windows, self-tapping screws and tape

Hello. This time you will learn how to fix the blinds on plastic windows. The topic of the article is interesting in that plastic or aluminum blinds are replacing less practical fabric curtains everywhere. Therefore, if you decide to make the windows in your apartment more modern and easy to use, the following photo reports on the installation performed are exactly what you need.

Current fastening methods

Blinds are attached to a plastic window in two ways:

  • Using self-tapping screws - the PVC profile will be drilled, and therefore, when dismantling the blinds, holes will remain that will not be easy to cover;
  • Without the use of self-tapping screws - the PVC profile will be intact and this is good, but the structure installed on top of the profile will be held less firmly in comparison with analogues fixed on self-tapping screws.

I don't know which horizontal blinds you have chosen, and therefore I will tell you about the installation of each of the listed types separately and in detail.

Installation using self-tapping screws

The complete set of blinds includes the following:

  • The main structure of lamellas in the amount of 2 pcs. (one for each leaf);
  • Fasteners for the upper part, 2 pieces for each sash;
  • Fasteners for the lower part, 2 pieces for each sash;
  • Self-tapping screws 20 mm long, 4 pcs. on each leaf.

DIY installation instructions are as follows:

  • We unpack the blinds and unwind the adjusting cord;

  • Remove the control bar (cane);

  • We attach the upper fasteners to the upper profile of the device so that the fasteners do not interfere with the operation of the mechanisms located inside the profile;

  • Next, we dissolve the slats so that they take the position characteristic of the open blinds;
  • We apply the upper profile to the window so that the lower bar is located just below the glazing bead on the frame, that is, so that the glass is completely covered;

  • We mark the location of the fasteners on the window frame;

When marking, I recommend using a spirit level so that the upper plank is located exactly along the horizon and does not have distortions. If the window was initially installed skewed, we do the markings not according to the spirit level, but taking into account the location of the sashes.

  • According to the markings made in advance, we install the fasteners on the self-tapping screws;

The surface of the PVC profile is smooth, and therefore it will most likely be difficult to screw the self-tapping screw along the mark. Therefore, before screwing in the self-tapping screw, we drill holes in the profile with a diameter of 2 mm, which is 1 mm less than the diameter of the self-tapping screws. It will not be difficult to screw in the screw through the pre-made holes.

  • After the fasteners are installed, we apply the upper bar to them and snap it in with a little effort;

  • From the outside, we finally fix the structure with plugs, which are put on the holders until a characteristic click appears;
  • We lower the blinds so that the lower lamella is in the lowest position;
  • We make markings for the lower fasteners so that they are located at the level of the ends of the lower bar;

  • We install the fasteners on self-tapping screws;
  • We click the lower bar into the mounts;
  • Install the adjusting bar on the original mount;

  • We check the operability of the installed blinds by opening and closing the gap between the lamellas.

Operation and maintenance

So we learned how to attach blinds to plastic windows on self-tapping screws... Among the recommendations for the use and maintenance of installed structures, I note the following:

  • We scroll the adjusting bar around its axis smoothly, since the hook with which it is attached to the mechanism is quite fragile;
  • In order to wash the window, we snap off the lower lamella and assemble the blinds upward, this is enough to wipe the glass entirely;
  • I recommend removing dust from the lamellas with a peacock-type broom;
  • Immediately after the dust has been removed, I recommend applying an antistatic spray of your choice to the lamellas.

Installation without the use of self-tapping screws

Now I'll tell you how to fix plastic blinds on modern double-glazed windows without using self-tapping screws.

When can fasteners without drilling be relevant? There are many such cases, for example, the use of rented housing, where, according to the terms of the contract, it is impossible to spoil the elements of the entourage.

To complete the installation work, you will need a set of conventional horizontal blinds with light plastic slats, double-sided tape and ordinary scissors.

The instructions for attaching blinds to plastic windows without the use of self-tapping screws are as follows:

  • We unpack the blinds set;
  • Disconnect the adjustment bar from the main unit so that it does not interfere with the installation later;
  • We lay the main block with the wrong side up;
  • Unwind double-sided tape to the length of the body;

  • Remove the protective film from one side of the tape and to the back of the block, as shown in the photo;

We select double-sided tape so that the width of the tape is equal to the width of the blinds block. We glue the adhesive tape so that it is flush with the walls of the block. In addition, carefully smooth the glued tape from the inside out, so that it adheres evenly over the entire surface.

  • We apply the blinds to the window and determine their position on the upper part of the window sash;
  • Having decided on the location, we make marks on the profile that correspond to the ends of the block;

  • Next, remove the remaining protective strip from the double-sided tape and glue the block according to the previously made marks to the profile;

  • We install the previously removed adjusting bar and on this the installation can be considered complete.

How firmly will the blinds hold when glued to the double-sided tape?

The actual operation of the blinds installed on scotch tape shows that for 1.5 years the structure lasted without any changes, that is, it did not warp or fall. I think that the situation will not change during the next two or three years.

When installing the blinds block, only the upper part is glued to the tape, while the lower bar is not fixed. This practically does not affect the operation of the device, except that when the sash is opened towards itself, the lower part of the blinds will move forward and touch the indoor flowers on the windowsill.

I told my friends about this method of installation. I was told that the method is not bad, but they will not use it, since the adhesive tape after removal will leave characteristic marks that are difficult to remove. Is it really?

Traces will remain, but it will be easy to remove any glue residue from the frame. It is enough to moisten a cloth with sunflower oil and wipe the plastic surface and the glue stains will disappear by themselves. For more effective removal of adhesive tape stains, the cloth is moistened not with sunflower oil, but with WD-40.

By the way, you can successfully apply these methods to remove traces from any adhesive tape and from a variety of stickers.

Conclusion

I talked about the most popular types of attaching blinds to plastic windows. I hope that these photo reports and instructions will be useful to you. If something is not clear or questions appear during installation, ask them in the comments. I promise I will answer quickly!

Finally, I remind you that you will find a lot of interesting and useful information by watching the video in this article.

Plastic and aluminum blinds protect the room well from the effects of bright sunlight, which is very important in rooms that are on the sunny side: in offices and living rooms, where sun glare can interfere with watching TV or working on a computer. It is also convenient that the installation of horizontal blinds on plastic windows with your own hands is simple and does not require special skills.

Installation features

The standard kit usually includes brackets, all consumables (bolts and dowels or tape), as well as instructions on how to install horizontal blinds on plastic windows. There is nothing complicated in it: first, brackets are mounted on a window, sash or opening, and then a cornice is inserted into them.

There is no need to worry about how to correctly install the lamellar system on the cornice: the manufacturer has already done it for you. Therefore, the entire installation process is reduced only to mounting the side brackets and takes a minimum of time.

Installation of horizontal blinds on plastic windows can be carried out with drilling, without drilling (for double-sided tape) and on captive brackets. The choice of the method largely depends on where exactly it is planned to fix them.

Where to fix the blinds

Before you hang the blinds, please note: manufacturers give a guarantee for blocks with a width of 22 cm to 220 cm and a height of up to 250 cm. A smaller width does not make sense, but for a larger one it is recommended to use two independent blocks. Blinds for plastic windows of large sizes are also on sale, but they are fixed without a guarantee for the performance of the structure.

How to make dimensions

Before installing the blinds correctly, it is necessary to take measurements. All subsequent installation and performance of the block system will directly depend on how accurately they are carried out. The instructions for taking measurements for each installation location are different:

  • Inside window openings (suitable for cases where the window is located in a wall recess). It is important here that the sipes do not touch the slopes when lifting and lowering. Based on this, we choose the width of the block so that it is 4-5 cm (2-2.5 cm from each side) narrower than the window opening. The height of the entire curtain must be accordingly set 2-2.5 cm shorter than the length of the opening. In order for each sash to open freely when the slats are raised, a distance must be left between the upper edge of the window and the blinds.
  • Outside window openings (also suitable for cases where the window unit is placed in a wall recess). This arrangement makes it possible to cover the entire area of the opening with one wide curtain and, if necessary, darken the room more effectively. To do this, it is necessary that the width of the lamellas be 5-5.5 cm on each side (only 10-11 cm) wider than the window opening, and the height of the entire curtain should be 10 cm below the window sill.
  • On window sashes (curtains open together with the sashes, suitable for mini model). This method saves space as much as possible and leaves the window sill completely free. In this case, blinds to plastic windows must be fastened so that they do not interfere with the turning of the handles on the sashes and do not touch the window sill, but completely cover the glass. To do this, their width should be 1.5 cm from each side edge (only 3 cm) wider than the glass part of the window, and their height should be 1.5 cm more than its length.
  • Outside the window opening (carried out when the window is on the same plane with the wall). Since the handles on the shutters extend into the interior of the room, in this case, you will need a special bracket, which will make it possible to install the fixed blinds at a short distance from the wall. In order for them to completely shade the room when closed, their width should be 20 cm wider than the window opening (10 cm on each side), and their length should be equal to or 10 cm more than the height of the window.

How to make markup

In order to prevent distortions during installation, before installing horizontal blinds on the wall above the plastic window with drilling, it is necessary to make a markup. Do not forget to leave enough space above the window, otherwise, in the assembled state, the lamellas will interfere with the opening of the sashes.

We need:

  1. Blinds block.
  2. Bolts and dowels to fit the bracket.
  3. Roulette.
  4. Level.
  5. Construction pencil.
  6. Drill.
  7. A hammer.
  8. Screwdriver.

Operating procedure:

  1. Using a level and a ruler, mark each side.
  2. Place the bottom of the mount on the reference line, then mark the drilling points with a pencil.
  3. Select the markings with crosses to better identify the drilling points.
  4. Drill the places where the dowels will be inserted, holding the tool perpendicularly.
  5. Insert the dowels by hand and hammer them in.

How to hang

The most difficult work is over. It remains only to hang the horizontal blinds in place.

Procedure:

  1. We install universal brackets.
  2. Turning the latch counterclockwise, we fix the upper cornice on the bracket at a distance of 20 cm from the edge.
  3. We turn the latch clockwise until it stops.
  4. We insert the hook of the swivel mechanism located on the upper cornice into the control handle (relevant for models with a cord and a handle).

We check the performance of the system: raise and lower the lamellas, rotate them at different angles, changing the lighting, check if they interfere with the opening of the doors. If all these manipulations have been successful for you without any extra effort, the blinds are installed correctly.
In contrast to the blackout curtains, the lightweight lamella construction in colored plastic or varnished aluminum ensures good air circulation while guaranteeing even illumination. With its help, you can easily protect your house from direct sunlight, and if the color and texture of the lamellas are correctly selected for the design of the apartment, they will favorably emphasize its advantages.

How to do the installation of horizontal blinds with your own hands on video:

[Voters: 5 Average rating: 3]

Installing blinds solves many window décor problems. Curtains, drapes, tulle, whatever fabric they are made from, require frequent washing, as dust and dirt accumulate on them. The density of the curtains determines how well they transmit or block light.

Blinds are much more comfortable than curtains in many ways.

Depending on the angle at which the lamellas are located, they completely open the access of natural light to the room, partially block it, gently scatter or completely isolate the room not only from light, but also from thermal radiation. They do not require special care, and it will not be difficult to install the blinds on your own.

Varieties

Horizontal

A light-shielding structure with a horizontal arrangement of lamellas, which has become familiar, almost classical for window decoration.

Advantages:

  • Compactness. Installed directly on the window, leaving the sill free. This saves space and allows you to place greenery on the window in favorable conditions for it;
  • Low weight of the structure;
  • Strength and rigidity of the lamellae, preventing deformation;
  • Fire safety;
  • Simple control mechanism;
  • Special coating or impregnation against dust, dirt, odors and grease;
  • Resistance to humidity and temperature extremes;
  • Various materials for the manufacture of lamellas: wood, plastic, aluminum, less often fabric;
  • Easy installation;
  • Affordable price.

Some disadvantages are worth mentioning:

  • When fastening to the frame, the angle of inclination of the window folds when opening is limited;
  • The lamellas emit a characteristic knock or ringing in the wind. To avoid this, it is necessary to purchase lower fasteners that are not included in the kit and quickly become unusable;
  • The structure is subject to repair in case of severe deformation of several lamellas, but it will cost as much as new blinds;
  • Not suitable for balconies and loggias with sliding windows.

Vertical

They are distinguished from horizontal ones:

  • More aesthetic appearance. Horizontal blinds are more functional, while vertical ones are decorative;
  • The ability to cover a large area with one cornice. Horizontal blinds, as a rule, consist of narrow slats and are intended for minimalistic decoration of small windows. Vertical models come in different widths and easily cover large windows, arches and doorways.
  • Variety of materials. They can be made of wood fibers, wood, aluminum, bamboo, plastic, woven and non-woven fabrics, mirror, blackout, thread. The abundance of materials provides another advantage - the variability of colors and textures;
  • Modern and original window decoration, opening up more design possibilities;
  • Simplicity of control mechanisms. Possible both mechanical and electrical;
  • The ability to place photo printing on the "curtains" due to the larger surface and better material characteristics;
  • Practicality. Larger lamellas are easier to wipe when necessary, which does not occur often. If, in the case of severe contamination, for example, in a children's room, the lamellas still need to be subjected to hygiene procedures, this will not take much time - they can be washed by hand and in a washing machine;
  • Possibility of installation on non-standard windows (triangle, trapezoid, arch, bay window);
  • The structure is subject to repair. To replace a particular part, you do not need to call a master, it is simple enough to do it yourself. It is possible to replace the lamellas one at a time without having to dismantle the entire structure.

Vertical blinds, as the name implies, are a simple and convenient light-shielding structure consisting of longitudinal vertical plates.

Roll

Roller blinds, roller shutters are solid fabrics, usually from textiles, but other materials are also possible, which roll upwards like horizontal blinds. The height can be adjusted by fixing the curtain with a weighting agent on the lower strip of the canvas.

There are different types of roller shutters: with an open drum (for attaching directly to the window) and with a decorative cornice; "Mini" for installation on each frame separately and "roll-cassette" for shading the entire window.

There is an opinion that roller blinds are the most budgetary and practical option for window decoration, but this is not entirely true. Of course roller shutters have their advantages: a variety of natural and synthetic fabrics, colors and patterns, ease of care (wet cleaning is allowed) and operation, the ability to fix the curtain at the desired height, special impregnations against dust, moisture, high temperatures and glare, compatibility with other types of curtains. It is convenient, if necessary, to hide the room from the sun, to decorate the window with beautiful tulle so that you cannot see what is happening inside from the street.

But with so many advantages, they also have significant disadvantages.:

  • Budget price- it's a delusion. Yes, by itself, a medium-sized curtain made of common material will be inexpensive, but it will look boring. In order for the window decoration to be complete, it is necessary to think over additional decor, and this significantly increases the cost;
  • Roller blinds in the bedroom, study and rooms with high windows require electrical control. Electrically driven structures are expensive, and some manufacturers also produce noise;
  • Impossible to make a custom-made curtain from a specific textile. You can choose only specific products of a specific brand, since the range of fabrics for the production of roller blinds is very limited: translucent, textured, reflective, perforated, blackout and that's all, perhaps;
  • Maximum width roller blinds - 280-300cm, that is, covering a large area with one cornice, for example, a panoramic window or balcony will not work;
  • Can problems arise with installation not on the wall, but in the window opening, since the reel is wider in width than the curtain itself. There will inevitably be gaps on the sides of the window openings. Ceiling or wall mounting preferred.

Pleated

This type of blinds is similar to both horizontal and roller blinds. The design consists of a control mechanism (chain or electric drive), weighting materials, pleated fabric that resembles accordion fur.

The assortment of materials, colors and textures is very diverse.

Peculiarities:

  • They close from top to bottom, like classic canvases, from bottom to top or from both sides at the same time. In this case, the degree of density of the "accordion" can be adjusted, thus closing either the upper, or the lower, or the central part of the window;
  • Suitable for curtains of irregularly shaped windows;
  • The optimal solution for roof, attic, ceiling and sloped windows;
  • "Opening", the canvas is compactly gathered into a fold and hides inside the cornice;
  • Convenient for installation on all types of windows;
  • Various mounting methods and control mechanisms (manual and electric);
  • Woven fabric is washable;
  • The curtain fabric can be made of two types of fabric at the same time, which makes it possible to adjust the degree of transparency, darkening, sun protection;
  • Easy installation can be done by hand.

Pleated pleats:

  • Classic. In appearance, they are most similar to horizontal blinds, but they can also be vertical. Made from fabric, paper or plastic. Designed for darkening the room, protecting it from heating by the sun's rays, and zoning the interior space of the room.

  • Corrugated. This type is vertical and horizontal double pleating. As a result, folds appear smoother, tighter, and tighter. Corrugation made of plastic and paper in this design absorbs a significant part of the heat and protects against bright light.

  • Inclined. A variety of pleats especially for windows that are angled in the attic or ceiling. Their peculiarity is in a specific assembly system that does not allow a canvas made of any material to sag, being at an angle. Mostly inclined models are available with electronic control.

  • Arched. The most flexible canvases that take any shape, like a paper fan. A good solution for rooms with non-standard windows (arches, trapezoids, triangles, beveled windows).

  • "Day Night". The fabric of such blinds consists of two layers of fabric: a lightweight fabric that transmits a large amount of light for daytime use and a dense, dark one to protect from the bright sun during the day and prying eyes in the evening.

Cassette

Such systems involve either the use of horizontal slats or a solid canvas, but are not horizontal blinds or roller blinds. They differ in the types of cassettes (angular, round, flat), controls (various types of mechanical and remote), used materials (plastic, textiles, bamboo, aluminum).

Their main feature lies in the design, the special structure of which makes it possible to fix the blinds at a minimum distance from the window glass. This prevents deformation, sagging, the appearance of folds and unevenness, completely opens the window sill.

Advantages:

  • Compactness. Cassette blinds take up a minimum of space, leaving the owners the opportunity to show their imagination and organize additional window decor or leave the window sill with a functional surface;
  • Simple and straightforward control type;
  • Long service life. Special impregnation protects the canvases from dust, grease, dirt, moisture, abrasion;
  • Ease of hygiene procedures. Cassette systems require little maintenance. It is enough to wipe their small surface with a damp sponge and soapy water every few months;
  • A variety of designs for an interior in any style;
  • The tight fit of the canvas to the glass surface protects equally well from heat and cold;
  • The ability to mount the system yourself;
  • A variety of materials - from light window decoration to total blackout protection;
  • The ability to combine blinds with curtains, tulle, lambrequin.

Mounting methods

There are three types of blinds fastening: to the wall, to the ceiling, directly to the frame, and two ways - with and without drilling.

The universal basis of any fastening is a cornice, which is attached in various ways to a wall, frame or ceiling.

Drilled

It is carried out using self-tapping screws, brackets on which the cornice is installed, fishing lines. Additionally, you will need a pencil, ruler, drill, screwdriver.

First you need to make a markup in those places where the brackets will be located.

For reliability and accuracy in the marked places, it is necessary to drill holes for the clips. Then, applying the brackets one by one to the PVC frame, fix them on the markings with a screwdriver. Then the cornice is installed and the whole structure is assembled.

No drilling

If in the future it is planned to replace blinds or other window decoration options, it is not recommended to damage the plastic windows. The holes from the self-tapping screws will remain in the frame forever and will significantly spoil the appearance of the windows. In this case, it is easier to turn to a method that does not require drilling.

In this case, the brackets are attached in two ways:

  • for the upper part of the PVC profile on the opening sashes (you can simply hang it like a hook);
  • on double-sided tape, which can be glued without fear of leaving traces.

Mounting blinds on the balcony requires a special approach. The balcony structure plays an important role here. The type of glazing determines the choice of certain blinds and the method of their attachment. In general, almost all options are available for balconies. In this case, special attention should be paid to the type of blinds, since not all of them are universal for different types of windows. For example, horizontal blinds are not suitable for a balcony with sliding windows, as they can deform during operation or from strong winds.

Measurements and markings

The final result depends on how correctly the measurements are made.

Even expensive beautiful models will not look good on the window if there are gaps in the opening or the edges of the lamellas will constantly bulge against the wall.

It is important to pay attention to the following points:

  • For the most accurate indicators, a steel tape is used;
  • It is impossible to round off the figures obtained, the accuracy must be observed to the millimeters;
  • When ordering blinds, the width parameter is specified first, length - the second;
  • Not a single window opening has absolutely perfect geometric shapes, therefore, measurements upward and in breadth must be made at least at two points.

Horizontal

If you plan to attach blinds to the movable half of the window, you will need to measure the gap between the glazing beads and add from 30 mm, which will prevent the appearance of gaps in the structure. The height of the blinds is equal to the height of the window sash.

For installation inside the window opening, measurements at three points in height and width are required, since the openings are not always absolutely proportional.

The width is identical to the wide side of the glass plus the thickness of the rubber seal. The length is identical to the height of the window (including elastic bands) and a margin of 1cm. To install the eaves, an additional 30-40 cm will be required before the slopes and hinges. Control chain - 2/3 of the window height.

When choosing to fix the cornice to the wall, the width parameter increases by 10 cm, the height is measured from the attachment point of the brackets to the floor at will.

Vertical

When installing in the armhole of the window, you need to determine the width at the top of the arch and subtract 20 mm. To determine the height, compare the height of the left and right sides of the arch, subtract 1 cm from the smaller value.

For wall mounting, at least 10 cm must be added to the wide side of the slope.The length of the lamellas can be any, but it is recommended to retreat 2 cm from the edge of the blinds to the floor.

Ceiling mounting means determining the height (to the floor or window sill) minus 2 cm, it is recommended to increase the width of the arch by 100+ mm.

Roll

To mount the canvases to the wall, only one measurement is required - from the edge of the window sill to the markings for the brackets, and the width can be up to 300 cm.

In the arch of the window, roller blinds are mounted after measuring the width, from which you need to subtract 4 centimeters, and the length of the canvas is equal to the height of the window minus 15 mm.

Pleated blinds likewise do not require a professional approach in taking measurements and installation.

Installation of vertical models

Vertical blinds are the most convenient way to decorate a window for self-execution. They are attached in three ways: to the ceiling, to the drilled frame, to the frame without drilling.

In all cases, the fastener is a cornice with or without a decorative facade.

The brackets on which the structure is held are fastened with self-tapping screws, hung or glued to double-sided tape. Special adhesive tape, despite its seeming impracticality, is fixed very firmly, therefore it is important to correctly apply the markings for installing the brackets. After they are glued, it will be very difficult to move them.

Installation procedure for vertical blinds:

  1. Preparation of tools. You will need a stepladder, a set of self-tapping screws from the kit, a building level and drawing accessories, a drill, and a screwdriver.
  2. Pencil markings for mounting brackets. To securely fix the fasteners, it is recommended to drill holes for self-tapping screws at the same stage.
  3. Attach brackets in a suitable way (with or without drilling).
  4. Installation of the cornice.
  5. Installation of slats. To do this, you need to pull the control cord, on which the lamella mounts are located, so that they fit into the desired position. Then fix all the lamellas on the hooks of the fasteners.

Installation of horizontal

For installation, you will need a set of tools: a drill, a cross-section screwdriver, a screwdriver, drawing accessories.

The instruction for installing horizontal blinds on windows contains a list of items that is performed step by step:

  1. Draw a scribing line for installing the brackets. It must take into account the distance between the clamps and the control mechanism, between the brackets (from 60 cm) and to the extreme areas on the blind strip (25 cm). If the blinds are wide and the weight is heavy, it is recommended to use intermediate fasteners.
  2. Drill holes on the surface to which you plan to attach the brackets to install the dowels. It is possible to use blinds on plastic windows without drilling.
  3. Profile installation.
  4. Fixing the upper louver bar on the brackets. It is important to remember that the blinds are already assembled at this stage.

Working with horizontal models on inclined surfaces requires a little more effort and dexterity.

How to hang roller blinds?

Like other types, roller blinds or roller shutters are attached in several ways: they can be hung, glued, attached to the frame.

The first way- the simplest and most affordable for do-it-yourself installation is a fastening without drilling based on double-sided adhesive tape. Suitable for tilt and turn mechanisms on windows. Performed step by step:

  1. Degrease areas of the frame and fasteners that will be connected with adhesive tape.
  2. Roller shutter mounting marking.
  3. Installation of roller blinds. The chain mechanism can be installed from any convenient side.
  4. Assembling the brackets.
  5. Bracket attachment markings. To do this, you need to install them on the assembled roller blind, install them on the window without fastening, mark the places for the adhesive tape with a pencil, remove the curtain.
  6. Applying adhesive tape to the rear surface of the brackets, mounting on the window.
  7. Installing the guide string against sagging. It is attached to the "ear" of the upper bracket and curtain weighting compound, at the bottom it is fixed in the tensioner, which is installed on the frame.

The second method involves fastening to a stationary frame (not opening):

  • First of all you need to mount the roller blind, assemble the brackets and install them on the reel. Then this structure must be fixed on the window in order to make the markings for fastening.
  • Second step- fastening the brackets to the adhesive tape at the top of the frame and the string tensioner at the bottom. It is not necessary to pre-attach them with tape, but it is advisable to eliminate problems with subsequent drilling of holes for screws. After installing the guide string, the curtain itself is mounted in the mechanisms.

How to fix cassette tape?

You can install cassette blinds on your own. Before installation, you must read the instructions, make sure that the complete set is complete, prepare all the necessary tools: a screwdriver, drawing tools, screwdriver, drill, cotton pads or a small piece of cloth, degreaser.

When everything you need is collected, you can proceed to the first stage - degreasing the glazing beads. Then you need to remove the side covers of the box, lift it to the top of the frame, focusing on the guide projections, drill holes for the fasteners, fix with screws. You can use a screwdriver for this purpose, or you can perform the process manually with a Phillips screwdriver.

When the box is installed, you need to fix the covers on the sides. After that, you can glue the guide strips to the degreased frame. The guides should be several centimeters below the corner of the glazing bead.

Important nuances

Installation work on window decoration requires certain skills and experience, but if you want to try it yourself, you need to take into account some of the nuances and features in this work.

The installation of blinds begins long before the preparation of the work surface and the set of tools.

The first step in this process- a balanced decision about the type and variety of blinds, material, color and texture, depending on the functionality of the room. So, it is more advisable to choose vertical blinds for the living room that let in light, for the bedroom automatic electric roller blinds made of blackout fabric, and for the kitchen, where cooking smells and food combustion products constantly soar, plastic blinds that do not absorb grease and dirt.

The second important point Is the correct markup. A lot depends on it, including how easy the installation process will be. If all the features of the architecture of window openings are taken into account by specialists when ordering blinds from them, everything will go smoothly and easily without the help of professional installers.

It is also important to consider whether it will be possible to open the window after installation, how the light protection devices will work, whether there is a risk of their deformation.

The installation of blinds must be carried out exactly with markings and subsequent verification of the functionality of the structure. The most important point here is the choice between fastening - with or without drilling.

It is also necessary to provide for the type of control. For low windows, one of the types of mechanical direction is an excellent solution. Magnetic, automatic (electric) control with an electric drive is suitable for dormer and sloped windows, windows in the bedroom.

At first glance, it may seem that the installation of horizontal blinds seems to be an easy and simple process. However, it is worth considering that windows and walls in houses are often uneven, therefore, the installation of horizontal blinds requires appropriate experience and knowledge.

If you are confident that you can fix the blinds yourself, then you must adhere to a certain installation technology.

This will require tools such as a Phillips screwdriver, hammer, hammer or hammer drill, drills and drills. The first thing to do is to decide on the method of installing horizontal blinds - to attach them to the frame or in the window opening, to the wall or to the ceiling.

Only after choosing the place of attachment and correctly performed measurements can you start installing the blinds. In order for the installation of horizontal blinds to be performed reliably and efficiently, it is necessary to use fasteners - brackets or brackets, which are equipped with any blinds.

Brackets can be used to securely attach blinds to almost any surface.

1. Mark out the places where the brackets will be attached. When marking, it must be borne in mind that the brackets must not fall on the latch and on the control device. Using a ruler and a level, mark the placement of the fasteners from each other at a distance of more than 60 cm and less than 25 cm from the extreme upper sections of the blind strip.

If the width of the louver is large, intermediate fasteners can be used to increase the reliability of the installation. One of the brackets must be placed near the lifting-lowering device, since in this area the louver device is subjected to the greatest load.

2. Consecutively drill holes in the wall, insert dowels into the markings. Screw on the brackets. It is very important that the screws and dowels are completely similar to the mount, wall or ceiling material.

If, in the plans, horizontal blinds are attached to the PVC window frame, then it is not necessary to drill the window profile, since there are special brackets designed for metal-plastic windows. It is worth replacing that this mounting method may only be suitable for a swing-out sash.

3. Installation of the curtain of the blinds on the mounts is in progress.

4. The upper louver bar slides over the brackets and locks with the latch. Moreover, the horizontal blinds must already be assembled.

Installation of interframe horizontal blinds has some differences from the technology presented above. These blinds should be installed in the interior space between the panes.

That is why, when installing them, the brackets are first attached to the upper cornice. Then, by compression, a flexible adapter is attached to the swivel rod.

The control device is brought out into the room through a pre-drilled hole. Only after the completion of these operations, you can proceed to fastening to the frame of interframe horizontal blinds.

Video: How to install horizontal blinds yourself

A few years ago, blinds began to be replaced by blinds everywhere. Now they can be found in offices and living spaces, in sales areas and on the windows of cafes and restaurants.

In order for the blinds to serve for a long time, one must be extremely careful when installing them. Only a balanced and competent approach will ensure the normal functioning of this rather complex structure. But if you understand all the nuances, then you can install blinds in place very quickly.

The main thing is not to forget about the features of each design and take everything into account in the assembly. The installation process is influenced by the walls, namely how smooth they are. Any deviations from the correct level, both horizontally and vertically, will lead to significant complications during operation. Therefore, if in your case there are obvious curvatures of the walls, it is better to invite a specialist with experience in solving such issues.

If, nevertheless, it is decided to install the blinds on your own, you need to study the available information, delve into all the details, and be patient.

The main ways to install blinds

In choosing the installation method, you must be guided by your preferences. Which method is right for you, you can decide, focusing on the design of the window. In principle, blinds are installed on any windows, including dormers, just the way of fastening will have its own characteristics. The sequence of actions in any case will be similar. Installation methods differ from each other only in some small details.

Sequence of actions for installing blinds

Measurement is the first step

First you need to correctly measure the window opening. Each type of installation has its own nuances that must be observed when measuring. This must be done in order to navigate the size of the blinds and determine the appropriate design.

Advice! From the resulting dimensions of the window opening, 2 cm are subtracted in the event that it is decided to mount the blinds directly into the window opening. This technique allows you to accurately determine the required size, therefore, in the future you will not have to face the problem of too long blinds that rest against the windowsill and bend ugly.

If you decide to overlap the blinds, you need to add 5 cm on each side in width so that the window is completely closed. The length will depend on your preference or advice from the designer. It can only be mute below the windowsill, or it can reach the floor. If it is planned to attach blinds to each window sash separately, then these parts of the window must be measured without taking into account the fittings. When measuring, you should try to be punctual. Only the correct measurement and ideal geometric proportions will give a flawless appearance and smooth functioning of the blinds in the future. If the curvature of the window is revealed during the measurement, the parameters should be tried to fit the correct figure.

Markup - step two

Before installation, mark the fasteners. Since the design of any blinds is geometrically verified, the marking must be carried out with millimeter accuracy, symmetry is also of great importance. During the marking, you need to check how the light protection devices that you have prepared will work. Will it be possible, after installing them, to freely open and close the window. Having determined where the regulating cord will be, it is necessary to mark this place and make additional fastening in this area. It is necessary because more pressure will be exerted on this area.

Installation - step three

Guided by the markup, you need to attach all the available parts with dowels, screws. They are screwed into a wall or ceiling. The cornice is hung on these screws. It is used to fix runners and slats, which are simply inserted into the prepared cornice. After the completion of the work, the functionality of the light protection device is checked.

Features of installing blinds on plastic windows

Quite often you have to install blinds on plastic windows. And this is not very easy. In this case, both the blinds themselves and the window can be rendered unusable rather quickly. To avoid unpleasant consequences, all manipulations must be carried out with the utmost care.

The main subtleties that must be taken into account when working with different types of blinds

Vertical blinds

The most popular is the vertical version. It is used in offices, public institutions and in general home settings. Color variations are endless, and the ability to combine colors and shapes gives room to the most daring design ideas. To install vertical blinds, you need to prepare all the necessary elements:

  • cornice;
  • slats;
  • runners;
  • chain.

If the window has an unusual format, a chain of appropriate length should be provided so that it looks appropriate and does not limit the functionality of the entire device. Vertical blinds can be wall or ceiling mounted. If you decide to mount the device to a wall, you can select an area just above a window or directly near the ceiling. If you attach the cornice to the ceiling, then you need to select an area close to the wall surface at a distance slightly exceeding the width of the lamella.

When the blinds of the required size, color and quality are purchased, markings are made for the fastening elements and they are mounted. When the brackets are installed, a cornice is attached to them. Runners are put on the cornice, slats are hung on them. When weighed in the lamellas, the order in which they were in the package must be observed.

Finally, take care of the weights. This type of blinds cannot function without them. These weights are suspended from the bottom of the device by chains on both sides (inside and outside). Everything .

Horizontal blinds

This type of blinds has not lost its relevance for many years. Plastic devices are ubiquitous because they are so easy to match in color and size.

Their design features are sometimes difficult for beginners, and they cannot become this kind of window decoration.

Horizontal blinds are most often installed on the wall, sometimes they are attached directly to the window. They are mounted to the wall if it is necessary to complete the window opening completely. Fastening to a window implies installation to the sash; this option does not limit the functionality of the window itself. It can be opened and closed easily without any obstacle.

Self-installation of horizontal blinds includes the same steps as in the case of the vertical version:

  • froze;
  • markup;
  • fastening the cornice;
  • installation of blinds.

Recommendations for installing blinds using self-tapping screws

Before you drill a hole, you need to make sure your markings are correct. For this, the fasteners are inserted into the cornice, pulled by the lace. To open the blinds to the end. Then they are brought to the intended place of attachment and visually assessed whether the markings are correctly applied, whether the blinds will open evenly if they are mounted as planned. If there are distortions, you need to apply more correct marks with a pencil. Then the brackets are removed from the eaves, brought them to the marks and precisely put points in those places where the self-tapping screw will be screwed in.

Advice! It is better to first drill the holes, and then bring the part to this place and attach it. This method guarantees the preservation of the integrity of the plastic. After all, screwing a self-tapping screw through a fastener often ends with the appearance of cracks.

When the holes are ready, the brackets are screwed to them and the cornice is hung. It is inserted into the mountings and then closed. Next, perform the following actions:

  • installation of a hook in the control mechanism;
  • installation of a cane in a hook;
  • the tip is attached to a cane;
  • installation of a bell, fastening with a knot;
  • blinds are lowered with a cord;
  • installation of the bottom fixing with a self-tapping screw.

In general, it is not difficult to install blinds. However, you must follow all the requirements, be careful and accurate. You can not ignore the instructions that are included with the purchased blinds.

Blinds installation without drilling

Some types of modern brackets can be fixed to the frame without drilling. It is very convenient. Such shutter systems are attached to brackets with a conventional snap-fit. In this case, they are not only easy to attach, but also easy to remove in order to wash the window or tidy the lamellas themselves. To attach the brackets without drilling, you need to purchase a special variety of these fasteners. You need L-shaped brackets, they can be easily hooked onto the top of the window sash. It is just as easy to remove them if necessary. But such a bracket cannot be fixed to a blind sash, this is possible only with opening sashes.
