Table lamp made of pvc pipes. DIY pvc pipe lamp

For a true jack-of-all-trades, leftover building material is a real treasure. From a pile of rubbish, he is able to create masterpieces suitable for interior decoration and useful for use in everyday life. Leftover plastic, plumbing fittings, plugs, metal fittings are enough to create a beautiful and functional pipe lamp that can be hung on the wall or used in place of a table lamp.

If the finished product seems unpretentious to you, you can complicate its design by adding metal parts - pipes, bolts, nuts, legs from fittings

Self-assembly of lamps from pipes

Even people who do not know the basics of plumbing can build a product from pipe sections, metal and plastic parts, and it will not be difficult for specialists involved in laying communications on a daily basis to come up with their own, unique, interesting options. These instructions are just examples of how you can quickly and easily turn unnecessary materials into useful items.

Plumber's Dream - Plumbing Lamp

For the device of household communications, polypropylene is increasingly used - a durable, flexible, reliable material that does not lend itself to rust, which has been performing its functions for decades. The systems are being installed instead of outdated metal pipelines, which are dismantled and disposed of in a landfill. Let's take a few used iron parts and make a laconic, convenient lighting fixture out of them.

We need:

  • 1 pipe of any length;
  • 2 flanges for stands;
  • a cross as a connecting element;
  • 2 knees;
  • electrical cord with switch;
  • lamp (energy saving or LED);
  • chuck, clutch for fixing.

If the base diameter is 20 mm, respectively, the rest of the parts have the same section.

Strictly technical, crude lamps and cozy home floor lamps are all made from ordinary plumbing pipes.

The assembly process is simple. We connect the elbows and flanges with the cross - the stand is ready. Insert the pipe from above, then fasten the coupling. We pass the wires, be sure to make insulation, since the metal conducts current, we screw in the light bulb. A few simple manipulations - and the original water pipe lamp is ready!

To give the old parts an aesthetically pleasing look, we clean all the elements with fine sandpaper and paint over metal.

Flexible metal plastic wall lamp

For the wall-mounted version, a more dynamic tubular LED lamp is needed, which can be directed in different directions, and here metal-plastic products come in handy. Unlike plastic parts, they are durable, have elasticity, in other words, they bend.

The ability to bend and shape will help make the luminaire unique

For convenience, the base, which is attached to the wall, is best made from a piece of wood - solid pine, birch blank, a fragment of thick plywood. We drill a hole in it for a flexible element. We grind a case for a cartridge from a small block, taking into account that a movable fragment will be attached on the other side.

A ready-made wall lamp made of pipes is a great light for paintings or photographs

It remains to complete the assembly. We insert into a metal-plastic workpiece (from 20 to 50 cm long) an electric wire previously threaded through the base, fix the cartridge and produce insulation. We fix the base on the wall, screw in the LED element and enjoy the effect. It remains to add that the flexible tube for the lamp can be turned in any direction, and if desired, even tied in a knot, if the length permits.

The cost of metal-plastic products of medium diameter is low - from 60 to 100 rubles per linear meter

Three-arm horizontal illumination

A convenient lamp made of several movable copper tubes on a metal base can create full-fledged lighting for a small room or lighting for paintings, photographs, collages or shelves with souvenirs.

For work, you will need pieces of metal pipes of the same diameter, bendable copper tubes for the manufacture of horns, several tees (according to the number of horns), a half-flange (for fixing the lamp on the wall or ceiling), plugs, electrical wire and fasteners. You will also need lamps - it is better to take LED ones that do not heat up the surrounding parts and the illuminated surface.

The tool required for assembly is in every home:

  • jigsaw or hacksaw for metal;
  • pliers;
  • screwdriver;
  • drill and thin drills;
  • insulating material;
  • paint for metal, brush.

First, you need to prepare the copper pipes, then screw the base and finally assemble everything into a single structure. We make horns for lamps from copper blanks 30-40 cm long. To do this, they need to be carefully bent so that they take the form of a smooth arc. Watch out for kinks, as corners on the tubes will spoil the look of the structure and prevent the wire from being threaded. We screw the compression fittings onto the ends, thread the wires, fix and insulate the cartridges.

We clean the metal segments, paint, after drying, we twist a long pole from them. We attach copper horns to it at regular intervals, not forgetting about the safe connection of electrical wires. We fix a self-assembled lamp from pipes on the wall or ceiling so that the rays illuminate the desired area, screw in the bulbs and check. The design in a trendy industrial style is ready.

LED night light made of plastic pipe

Plastic is easy to process, so there are many opportunities for decorating lampshades and lampshades made of this flexible material. Openwork lamps made of plastic and polypropylene pipes are installed on the floor, on the table, used as a table lamp, night light.

Beautiful designer lamp made of plastic elements and multi-colored bulbs

We stock up on plastic blanks, get to work. The best option is products with a diameter of at least 15 cm so that the walls of the finished lampshade do not come into contact with the lamp, even if it is LED. From the tools you will need a drill with various attachments, drills, a stationery knife, and a hair dryer.

Operating procedure:

  • We are preparing the base - a heavy stand with a fixed cartridge, we bring in the electrical wire. A block of wood or a structure made of several pieces will do.
  • We cut out a segment of 20-30 cm in height from a thick pvc pipe, process the edges - this is the future lampshade.
  • We apply an image on a plastic surface using a stencil - an ornament, a drawing, a pattern.
  • Using a drill, knife, scalpel, we cut out excess parts, making cuts, cuts, through holes. We leave some parts semi-transparent, reducing the thickness of the material. We heat with a hairdryer to bend or deform the desired elements.
  • Install the lampshade on the base, turn on the lamp.

The color of the plastic, which is not suitable for the bedroom or living room, can be changed to a brighter shade by painting the surface of the lampshade with special acrylic paints. Finished lamps made of PVC pipes look just magical.

To connect the elements, we use threads, bolts and nuts.

Taking an example from designers

The use of old unnecessary things to create unique interior items has long been of interest to designers, engineers, self-taught craftsmen. Metal and plastic pipes turned out to be a convenient material for creating various lamps, chandeliers, table lamps, floor lamps, sconces. Some of them look modern, suitable for the design of offices and high-tech rooms, while others, graceful and stylish, are appropriate for an Art Nouveau interior.

Artfully carved flowers and butterflies transform a plastic pipe into amazing decor

It is curious that magnificent design things that cost a lot of money are assembled from the most common building materials, which means that each of you, if you wish, can create your own unique masterpiece that is not inferior to well-known counterparts either in external data or in functionality.

Loft-style lighting fixtures are not just a tribute to fashion, but also a practical economical solution for main or additional lighting. Let's consider how to make lamps from pipes on our own, what are the main features of working with the material, how the process of assembling them with our own hands will look like, how to make a pendant chandelier from metal pipes, a wall lamp made of metal-plastic, a table lamp and couplings, and also what difficulties this may occur.

Anyone can now independently make lamps based on metal, plastic and metal-plastic pipes. To do this, you need to acquire patience, a desire to reach the planned result, a set of suitable materials and tools, and strictly follow the instructions. The advantages of such homemade products are many:

  1. Low cost of the product.
  2. Ease of standard threaded connection.
  3. The ability to create any design.
  4. Wide access to materials (parts can be bought in the building market, second-hand metal, it is easy to find).

Of the processing features of the pipe materials used when creating lamps, the following nuances should be taken into account:

  1. All elements connected to the thread must have the same standard and similar characteristics (pitch, diameter, direction).
  2. Reinforced-plastic pipes should bend well with effort, and their surface should melt during heat treatment (polypropylene analogs are also most often suitable for this role).
  3. If the product is not planned to be painted, then it is better to take galvanized, stainless, copper or brass materials as a basis.
  4. The metal body of the lamps easily conducts electricity, so when installing 220V bulbs on them, they must be grounded.
  5. The shape of metal-plastic lamps is set by means of bends, and for cast-iron and metal - with the help of all kinds of adapters, pipe sections and fittings.

To facilitate and speed up the assembly process of such lighting devices, it is better to manufacture them in accordance with the following algorithm:

  1. Make a drawing / sketch indicating all elements, their sizes, characteristics.
  2. Before assembly, paint and dry all components and materials that require this, or decorate the surfaces in accordance with design ideas.
  3. Assemble the luminaire strictly according to the plan.
  4. Install wiring, bulbs.
  5. Fix the lighting device, check the serviceability by connecting to the network.

Important! One of the most important performance indicators of a luminaire with a metal body is electrical safety. Therefore, for those who do not have experience in conducting electrical installation procedures, it is better to consult with an experienced specialist in this field before starting assembly. For internal wiring, use a thick conductor with good electrical insulation and position it so that it does not rub against the edges of the pipes, the sharp edges of which must be removed with abrasive materials. In addition, as far as possible, it is better not to place the joints of the cores inside such a structure, in extreme cases - to reliably isolate them.

Hanging chandelier made of pipes

Consider one of the simplest options for assembling a pendant chandelier based on brass or copper pipes. To make such a lamp you will need:

  • pass the internal wiring from the cartridge through the pipes, connect long and short sections by means of hinges;
  • pull up the wiring and cut it off, leaving about 5 cm for connection with the main cable;
  • screw the cartridge into the edge of the tube segment, which will be located at the bottom of the structure;

  • screw long pipe lengths into a 5-pin fitting, thereby collecting the base of the luminaire;
  • twist the white cores coming out of the branch pipes with a wire of the same shade of the main cable, black - by analogy;

  • carefully tuck the resulting twist with the main cable into the pipe on which the luminaire will be attached to the ceiling surface;

  • the chandelier is suspended on a chain or a mounting wire in its place, the bulbs are screwed in, the network is connected and the operability of the assembled lamp is checked

Flexible metal plastic wall lamp

For self-assembly of a wall lamp made of metal-plastic pipes, you will need the following components:

  1. A set of metal-plastic pipes with a length of segments from 20 to 50 cm.
  2. Base of wood or a piece of thick-walled plywood or other similar material.
  3. Wiring.
  4. Holders and lamps for them, as well as fittings of a suitable size.
  5. Saw for metal or pipe cutter for metal-plastic.
  6. Screws, Phillips screwdriver or screwdriver.
  7. Paper, paint, decoration materials.
  8. Silicone sealant.

Manufacturing instruction

The process of making a wall lamp from pipes is as follows:

  1. A piece of plywood or solid wood is adjusted to the shape conceived by design, painted or decorated.
  2. A hole is drilled in it (or several, depending on the number of tubes and bulbs for them), with a diameter similar to a piece of a metal-plastic pipe.
  3. This piece is inserted into it and sits on glue or sealant.
  4. After drying and fixing, a two-wire wiring is passed into it.
  5. The segment is fitted from the free end.
  6. If the fitting is threaded to it, you can select the appropriate threaded cartridge. If not, the latter can be simply glued to the sealant, having previously connected it to the conductors.
  7. Next, the finished lamp is attached to the wall surface with screws or dowels.
  8. A light bulb is screwed in, the wiring is connected to the network and checked.
  9. As a decorative element for a fitting with a cartridge, you can choose a floor lamp, shade or sconce elements that are suitable in size in order to improve its design.

The main advantage of a luminaire on a metal-plastic pipe is the ability to change the direction of the luminous flux due to its slight bending.

Table lamp made of sleeves

To make a lamp from couplings with your own hands, you will need the following components:

  1. Short and long nipple - just a couple of pieces.
  2. Six couplings (squares).
  3. Six short nipples for connecting them.
  4. Three tees for water supply.
  5. Cord with plug and switch.
  6. Hot glue device.
  7. Insulating tape.
  8. Drill and other assembly tools.

The scope of application of such a lamp made of pipes is wide enough - for the main or additional illumination of the working area of the table, workbench and any other place (due to the compactness of the lighting device).

Build process

Detailed instructions for making a table lamp from sleeves are as follows:

  • before starting work, all pipe sections, couplings and joints are cleaned with a household cleaner, for example, white spirit, the stickers are removed and then dried;
  • in order to bring the wires to the connection point in the luminaire, it is necessary to temporarily disconnect the wire with the switch;

  • then a cartridge of a suitable size is inserted into the coupling. You can fix it either with a thread, or by placing it on glue, using a pistol, having previously connected it to the wiring;

Materials and tools

  • 5 large pear-shaped bulbs;
  • 10 brass (copper) tubes - 5 short and 5 long;
  • fitting according to the diameter of the tubes;
  • 1 longest brass tube - suspension axis (to the ceiling);
  • 5 adjustable brass hinges;
  • 5 ceramic bulb holders;
  • two-core connecting wire (so that it passes freely into the copper pipes);
  • electrical cable;
  • insulating tape;
  • screwdriver.

Chandelier manufacturing technology

Step 1

  1. Let's make the wiring. To do this, unscrew the lids of the cartridges and connect the wires to each of them, as shown in the photo.
  2. We pass wires through tubes, then using hinges we connect short tubes with long ones.
  3. Cut off the wire leaving a few centimeters for twisting with a main cable that will be connected to the mains in the ceiling.
  4. Screw the end of the tube into the cartridge.

Step 2.

  • We screw in the "legs" the future chandelier into the fitting and again do the wiring: we twist the white wires with a white core, and the black ones with a black one, as shown in the photo. We wrap live parts with electrical tape.
  • Refuel neatly cable to the inside of the main brass tube, which will hold the chandelier. We fix it on the ceiling. After all, we screw in the bulbs.

The result is an urban chandelier that combines the simplicity and grace of an industrial or lift style with the light of large lamps.

Master class number 2: Loft chandelier made of pipes

Following current lighting trends, it is necessary to take into account the efficiency of not only energy-saving lamps, but also the chandeliers themselves. For example, from scrap materials - try to make a simple, bright, ergonomic loft-style lamp. from polymer water pipes after reading the next master class.

Materials and tools

  1. Ceiling socket;
  2. 12 splitters (lamp holders);
  3. polymer pipes
  4. 12 small bulbs;
  5. a can of gold paint (or any other);
  6. paper or newspapers.

Build process

Step 1.

  • First, we will develop a chandelier model and connect all the splitters to each other.
  • Only your imagination works here, but you can make a symmetrical chandelier by creating tree structure, i.e. screw in the same number of cartridges (branches) on each side.

Step 2.

  • We spread paper or newspapers to paint the future chandelier.
  • We paint with a spray can on all sides. We leave to dry.

If necessary, paint over with a second coat after drying. We paint over the ceiling socket from the front side.

Step 3.

After everything is dry, you can attach the chandelier to the ceiling. If you are satisfied with her appearance, then screw in the bulbs and enjoy your creation!

Over time, you may want to change it - then you can make a different combination of branches and the chandelier will shine in a new way!

Master class number 3: Loft table lamp made of pipes

A robust, easy-to-manufacture, industrial-style table foot suitable for office or home use. It practically "sheds" cold or warm white light through the pipeline, which makes it pleasant to work or do your hobby.

Tools and materials

  1. One long nipple;
  2. one short nipple;
  3. 6 pipe elbows;
  4. 6 short nipples for connecting elbows;
  5. 3 plumbing tees;
  6. electric drill;
  7. cord with socket and switch;
  8. glue gun (hot glue);
  9. insulating tape.

Manufacturing instruction

Step 1.

  1. First you need to clean all the pipes. with white spirit or special cleaner if there are stickers - you need to remove them.
  2. During work, the cord with the switch will have to drag through pipes, so let's cut out the switch for now - it will be put in place later.

Step 2.

  • We insert the lamp into the socket and pull the cord through the elbow.
  • To hold the lamp holder, fix it with a glue gun filling the cavity in the square, as shown in the photo.
  • You need to fill it carefully, not reaching the thread.
  • We leave the glue to dry.

Step 4.

Let's prepare a hole for the cord on the other side. To do this, use an electric drill to drill a hole in one of the tees.

First, imagine how the lamp will stand on the table, only then mark the drilling point and drill the part.

Step 5.

  • We assemble pipes by thread using nipples, as shown in the photo.
  • You should get: 4 corners, like the base of a table lamp, 3 tees are twisted together, the factory hole is directed upwards, and, on the contrary, it is made, on the contrary, downwards, from the invisible side.
  • The two nipples are connected together - this is the lamp holder. During the assembly, we pull the cable through the tubes.

Step 6.

We disassemble the switch that was cut out. We take out the old wires and use electrical tape to make a new twist, connecting the ends of the wire to the corresponding channels in the switch. Putting the switch back together.

Step 7.

Check how the switch works and if you are comfortable with the look and stability of the lamp. If something is wrong, in such a practical design it is easy to fix it by turning the parts.

A stable, comfortable and completely unexpected designer lamp with your own hands can safely be called an indispensable companion for your evenings!

You can also make a very stylish table lamp from copper pipes or empty bottles, the master class of these 2 lamps is in the material

Workshop No. 4. Industrial style lamp

If you like products with industrial design, if you want to install industrial lamps in your home or garage, watch the next master class and, most likely, you will see what you have been looking for for a long time. Ease of manufacture and urban design.

Instruments

  • Luminaire with lattice;
  • 2 black sanitary nipples;
  • conductive cable;
  • plumbing elbow and tee;
  • 2 metal flanges for the chuck diameter;
  • screws and screwdriver.

Installation instructions

Step 1.

  1. Remove the grill from the lamp. If it suits your interior, you can leave it. Remove the cartridge.
  2. To the patron attach a metal flange as shown in the photo.

Step 2.

We consistently connect the parts of the chandelier: a flange, a tee to it, then a nipple, a corner, again a nipple, connectable to the second flange pulling the wire through the tubes all the time.

Step 4.

Check the length of the cord from the socket to the height at which the chandelier will be installed. Until you are satisfied with the height of the switch, do not attach the lamp to the socket.

Vary the cable length until you find the optimum length. After that, you can twist.

Step 5.

We fix the flange on the wall with screws and a screwdriver, because the construction is not very heavy. It turns out that the wire hangs just from the hole in the tee.

Plug in and enjoy a little big city design piece!

Loft-style chandeliers focus on technical solutions, clear forms, without excessive solemnity and pomp. This is the style of a big city, spacious living quarters, where there is no luxury, but there should be a lot of light and labor, creativity.

Designer lighting fixtures are sold at a fabulous price. In fact, making a lamp from pipes yourself is not a problem. This does not require the purchase of expensive materials or in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering. Consider several options for homemade lighting elements from scraps of various pipes.

Table lamp

The original lamp made of pipes will add flavor. The structure can be assembled from household scrap or purchased from a hardware store. After purchasing all the materials, it will take no more than an hour to collect the lamp.

Among the required components:

  • Long and short nipple.
  • Six pipe elbows.
  • The same number of small nipples that serve as angle brackets.
  • Three destinations.
  • Drill.
  • Wire with switch and plug.
  • Insulating tape.
  • Hot glue.

First, all pipes are treated with a solvent, the stickers are removed. The light element is inserted into the socket, after which the wire is pulled through the elbow. The bulb holder is fixed with glue. The structure is processed carefully so as not to touch the thread, after which it is left until the adhesive dries.

The main stages of work

The subsequent assembly of the lamp from pipes is carried out in the following sequence:

  • A hole is prepared in the tee for the wire from the back using an electric drill.
  • Pipes are assembled by thread using nipples.
  • 4 corners are taken as the base, three tees are twisted with each other, the standard hole is directed upwards, and the homemade nest goes to the lower invisible part.
  • Two nipples connected together will serve as a holder.
  • The cable is pulled through the pipes without a switch.
  • The switch is assembled and connected.
  • The functionality of the pipe assembled is checked.

This design is easy to fix if you are not satisfied with the resulting design. The end result is a great and inexpensive night light or work desk lamp.

Wall option

A pipe lamp, the photo of which is shown above, is manufactured as follows:

  • The grill is removed from the old street-type lamp. If it fits into the interior, this is not necessary.
  • A piping flange is attached to the chuck, which will serve as a base to be fixed to the wall.
  • Then it is connected to a tee, nipple and elbow. Another flange is attached, then the wiring is pulled through the pipes.
  • The height of the lamp is regulated.
  • The lamp is connected to the socket, and the switch is mounted.
  • The flange is attached to the wall with screws, the operation of the device is checked.

The following materials are required for the operation:

  • Luminaire with or without grill.
  • A pair of black plumbing nipples.
  • Cable.
  • Two metal flanges with the same diameter as the chuck.
  • Screwdriver and fixing screws.

Concrete base pipe loft fixtures

The plafond is made of several wooden embroidery hoops and watercolor paper. The whole process is subdivided into mold preparation, concrete base fabrication, wiring connections, pipe assembly and fixation, and lampshade arrangement. The container for pouring can be taken from plastic, its dimensions must be sufficient to support the weight of the entire structure.

Initial stages:

  1. Using a knife, make a hole for the cable.
  2. The reinforcement wire is placed in a container.
  3. The cord is threaded through the pipes with the necessary margin.
  4. To mark the exit of wires from the solution, use a marking tape.

The cord must enter the cement mixture at the point of connection to the switch, then fed through the middle part of the pipe flange, in which the hole is provided.

The final part

Further manufacturing of a lamp from water pipes is divided into several stages:

  • A cement mortar is made, which is poured into a prepared mold.
  • The switch is fixed flush with the surface. Make sure that he does not drown in the mixture.
  • Mount the flange on top of the mortar, thread four mounting screws through the holes.
  • After preparing the base, the wires are threaded through the pipes, fixing them to the flange.
  • Next, the free edge of the cables is pulled to the cartridge, after which the latter is attached inside the pipe.
  • A light bulb is screwed in, a switch is connected and turned over.
  • A lamp with a low wattage rating can be left open.
  • For a powerful light element, you will need to build a shade. To do this, take two hoops and watercolor paper, the seam is treated with wood glue.
  • This design allows you to choose any color and used fabric covering.
  • The finished lampshade is attached using small screws that are screwed into the inside of the hoop from above, or a thin wire attached to the additional pipe flange.

LED lamp

The PVC pipe is optimal for this device. It should be noted that this option is equipped with autonomous power supply. The design of the lamp is as simple as possible, anyone can assemble it with a minimum of tools and materials. You will need a few larger lengths of pipe for the base, including angles and fittings, and a smaller PFC pipe for the rack. The system uses a resistor with a power of at least 1 watt. This indicator is designed for 6 LEDs.

The chain is connected in a standard way. It is recommended to use type. This will allow you to quickly make a nest for it in the pipe and does not require cutting out additional elements in the form of a rectangle for the slide switch. In addition, the switch should not be instantaneous, otherwise you will have to constantly hold the button for the device to operate. The luminaire made of PVC pipes is equipped with a lampshade. Its painting is carried out in several layers. Otherwise, when the diodes are on, streaks or processing irregularities will be visible. A battery of suitable capacity is mounted at a distance of 80 millimeters from the edge of the pipe at the base. You can also adapt the switch there. The main thing is that these details do not interfere with each other.

Loft chandelier made of pipes

Modern trends in the organization of lighting often require taking into account not only the efficiency of lamp elements, but also the chandeliers themselves. They can be created independently from scrap materials, while receiving an original and inexpensive design. For example, it is available to make a ceiling lamp out of plastic pipes. This requires the following components:

  • Ceiling-type socket.
  • 12 branches for sockets and bulbs.
  • Polymer water pipes.
  • 12 small lamps.
  • A can of special paint.
  • Paper.
  • Ceiling socket.

The work begins with the development of the chandelier model and the connection of the branches with each other. You can create both a symmetrical design and an original author's model (it all depends on your imagination). Next, spread the paper on which the coloring process will take place. Paint on all sides and allow the lamp to dry. The ceiling rose is painted from the visible side. If necessary, the spraying on the chandelier can be reapplied. Then it remains only to connect the structure to the ceiling with screws and a flange, and also screw in the lamps. Check the design and enjoy a unique piece. By the way, if the configuration of the lamp gets tired, it can be transformed into another style in a few minutes.

Adjustable table lamp: initial manufacturing process

This hand-made pipe lamp differs in that it can be adjusted in reach and height. Many spare parts are readily available to find at home, so it is also profitable as well as custom.

Materials used:

  • Bicycle star.
  • A pair of metal pipes with a half-inch thread (length - 450 mm).
  • Flange.
  • Fitting.
  • Two knees at 45 and 90 degrees.
  • Two copper pipes ¾.
  • Socket.
  • Polymer sleeve.
  • Electrical cable.

The bike sprocket will act as the base. In its center, holes are drilled for the flange, after which it is painted. Then an iron pipe is screwed into the flange. The upper part of the element is fixed to the base of the luminaire, and the second part with a large diameter is installed in such a way that a sliding effect appears. This will allow the top of the structure to flip up by moving the top tube.

The final part

To fix the pipe, a hole is drilled in the lower compartment for a fixing screw. A pipe with a diameter of ¾ is soldered, which will allow maintaining the alignment, as well as obtaining an original look. A bolt ¼ can be used as a stopper, which is attached to the outer handle of the valve. The plafond can be made in one of the ways described above, attaching it with screws, painting it with copper or gold paint.

The rubber sleeve is mounted in the opposite end of the fitting, after which the end of the wire is cut off and pulled inside the pipe to the cartridge. The lamp is screwed into the socket, around which the casing is clamped. Such a lamp from water pipes will make it possible to provide the right amount of light under various conditions. Moreover, its cost is minimal.

Not every connoisseur of loft style can afford to live in a real former workshop - if only because there are not enough abandoned factories for everyone. But the decor in an industrial style is quite affordable. Moreover, you can do it yourself.

To write today's material, we went to the recently held in Moscow loft picnic Palletto and under the supervision of the craftsmen from The Sarai, they assembled their first lamp from pipes and sawn wood. We share with you the subtleties and secrets!

You will need:

  • Fittings for cast iron or steel pipes: couplings, tees, squeegees, barrels, angles (including transitional ones), threaded flange.
  • Cartridge with thread and wiring.
  • Wire with plug and switch.
  • Heat-shrink tubing.
  • Drill with conventional and feather drills.
  • Self-tapping screws.
  • Decorative incandescent light bulb.
  • Wood saw cut.

Step 1

Find everything you need for your rack. Make sure the parts match on the threads. Mandatory elements: a flange to screw the structure to the saw cut, and a transition angle, into the wide part of which you insert the cartridge (we, however, used a coupling).

Step 2

When all the parts are found, go in search of a suitable cartridge with wiring. Ideally, the cartridge should have a thread suitable for the angle / sleeve, but you can take a smooth one if it fits tightly enough into the cavity.

Step 3

Prepare the base: drill holes for the wire in the cut (as in the photo): expand the vertical from below with a feather drill and make a horizontal exit. Pull the wire through the holes.

Step 4

Start assembling the lamp stand. Route the wire with the switch from the base side, and the wire from the socket from the opposite side. Connect the wires and finally twist all the parts.

Important!Since the luminaire is metal, the wires must be connected and insulated as reliably as possible. Use heat shrink tubing instead of traditional electrical tape: first fasten each of the two wires with it, then insulate them together again. The tube is seated with a hot air gun, but at home you can try to get by with a lighter.

Step 5

Place the lamp post on the saw cut and mark where it will be attached to the screws. Use a thin drill to make holes in these places. Using a screwdriver or screwdriver, screw the pipe structure to the saw cut.
