Lollipops at home

Most children are real sweet tooth, which gives parents a lot of trouble. After all, moms and dads, worrying about the health of their babies, try to limit the amount of harmful caramels and chewing gum with food additives. If you want to please your child with a tasty treat with minimal risk to his health, try making lollipops at home. Of course, such a delicacy cannot be called useful, but it will not contain any chemical dyes and preservatives.

Ingredients:

    1 kg of granulated sugar

    3 ml vinegar essence

    1 liter of water

    1 sachet of food coloring

Tableware:

    enameled container

    cotton candy machine

How to make cotton candy in the machine:

  1. Dissolve sugar in water and boil it over a fire, then continue to boil for another 10 minutes, and then add a drop of vinegar essence to the syrup.
  2. Boil the resulting mixture for 10 minutes, then reduce the heat and cook the syrup for another 25 minutes until it acquires a thick, homogeneous consistency.
  3. Then add food coloring to it (optional), turn on the machine and slowly pour a thin stream of sugar syrup onto the edge of its disk.
  4. In the process of hardening, the syrup will turn into cotton candy - after waiting for this, turn off the machine, separate the resulting mass from the disk and cut it with a knife in diameter.
  5. Roll both resulting semicircles into tubes on a cutting board and cut them into several portions, which are preferably consumed immediately after preparation.
  6. However, if you want to save some cotton candy for storage, take a plastic bag, carefully place the treat in it, and place the bag on the bottom or middle shelf of the refrigerator.
  7. Do not put cotton wool in the freezer - there it will stick together and turn into a lump of frozen sugar.

Cotton candy without apparatus

Ingredients:

    1 ½ cups sugar

    ½ glass of water

    1-2 drops of food grade vinegar

    some food coloring

Tableware:

    forks (Chinese sticks or whisks)

    pan Pan)

How to make cotton candy without a machine:

  1. Secure the forks upright on the table with something heavy to support them, and make sugar syrup by mixing water with sugar and vinegar.
  2. To give the treat a beautiful color, add food coloring to the mixture and mix everything thoroughly.
  3. Pour the syrup into a saucepan and heat it over low heat, stirring constantly - when it boils, remove the saucepan from the heat, cool slightly and heat again. Repeat the procedure until the syrup turns golden brown - but make sure that it does not darken.
  4. After obtaining a thick golden mass of a viscous consistency, dip a whisk in it and drive it around vertically fixed forks, winding sugar threads around them until a fluffy hat is obtained. If the cotton wool turns out to be too loose, compact it with your hand, but be careful - hot threads of sugar syrup can severely burn the skin.
  5. After making cotton candy, take your time to get rid of the remaining sugar mass.
  6. Take the rest of the syrup that has cooled down and break it into pieces with a knife - this way you get delicious golden candies that both children and adults will enjoy eating.

We present to you drawings of a homemade apparatus for making cotton candy("Feshmak") and the technology of its preparation. It won't take you long to make it.
Feshmak is a caramel-type product, popularly called "cotton candy", usually in the form of a bundle of elongated thin white threads.
From one kilogram of sugar, up to 80 servings of the finished product are formed.

The simplest design for preparing feshmak at home with a capacity of approximately 160 portions per hour consists of a 220 V electric motor, power from 50 to 300 W with a rotor speed of 1250 - 1500 rpm and a disk made of sheet aluminum with a diameter of 170 - 180 mm and a thickness attached to its shaft. 0.2 - 0.3 mm. To make a disk, you can use tin from a herring can. At a distance of 350 - 400 mm from the center of the disk, a fence made of plastic, linoleum, etc. is installed.
If you seriously decide to start making a feshmak, we recommend using the design shown in fig. one.
For its manufacture, it is necessary to use materials provided by GOST for the food industry.

How to make cotton candy.

First you need to prepare the caramel mass. It is prepared without cooking molasses, which simplifies the cooking process. The mass is not candied due to the formation of invert sugar under the action of vinegar essence added in the middle of cooking. So, in a small amount of water (about 3 parts of sand, 1 part of water), granulated sugar is dissolved and boiled for 10 minutes, after which vinegar essence is added (3 ml of essence per 1 kg of sugar) and the mass is again boiled for 10 - 12 minutes. After that, the mass is brought to a very low heat for 25 - 30 minutes. until a strong caramel sample with a moisture content of 1.5 - 1.7% is obtained. Humidity is determined by the boiling point of the mass. At the beginning of the boil, it should be 100 - 105?, and at the end - 135 - 145?. Pour the finished mass, not allowing it to cool, in a thin stream onto the edge of the rotating disk (2 - 4 mm from the edge). To do this, it is convenient to use a small enameled bucket. Hot syrup, breaking into thousands of thin threads, solidifies at room temperature, forming a layer of "cotton wool".

With high humidity of the surrounding air, it is impossible to obtain a high quality product. In this case, you can use the closing of the apparatus with a lid with a hole for filling the caramel mass. Turn off the motor and separate the threads from the body. Cut the finished product along the diameter line and roll the resulting semicircle on the table into a tube. Do the same with the second semicircle. Then cut the "cotton wool" into the desired number of portions. The product should be white in color and have a pleasant sweet taste. When using food coloring, the product becomes more attractive.
To maintain the high quality of "cotton wool", it is necessary to clean the disk of adhering syrup after each working cycle. Feshmak cannot be stored outdoors for a long time - this is its significant drawback. Sealed packaging and cold will keep it for a day or more.
Do not despair if the quality of the product did not suit you the first time. The main condition for success is the accuracy of each operation.

We will show you how you can make cotton candy at home and make an apparatus for it from an ordinary fan with your own hands. For work, we need 2 CD disks, we cut out two “washers” from them:

They are made easily and simply, something round is applied to the disk, for example a coin, we circle it with a marker. After that, we heat the clerical knife and easily cut out all the excess. A hole in the center can be made with the help of also heated on the stove.

To begin with, we take the disk that remains with us and glue our washers to it, this must be done strictly in the center, if we neglect this rule, our disk will vibrate, in the end nothing will work.

Our nozzle for the cotton candy machine is ready, now let's move on to the fan. We lay it on the floor and remove the protective cover, then remove the propeller. We take the middle box, make a round hole in its bottom:

Our machine for making cotton candy is ready, as you can see, everything is done by hand, very simply and at home. Now it remains to prepare the syrup.

do-it-yourself cotton candy machine

It is done very simply, put a large metal mug of water or a small saucepan on medium heat, add 50 to 50, sugar and water, mix everything thoroughly. The syrup will be ready when a yellowish tint appears, but in no case should it be dark brown. Now you can proceed directly to the manufacture of cotton candy, turn on our apparatus and start pouring the syrup onto the “disk” in small drops:

It turns out an excellent cotton candy, not worse than the one you could taste in parks and at mass events. After making cotton candy, the fan is easily assembled back.

There is hardly a person who has not tried cotton candy. Now it is sold everywhere - in parks, at various public events. You can even find it in stores. But the modern taste of this delicacy cannot be compared with what it used to be.

Many still cannot understand the principle of preparing this delicacy. In fact, everything is quite simple. An excellent option that will allow you to pamper not only children, but also help adults remember moments of childhood, will be homemade cotton candy.

It is easiest to make cotton candy at home using a special apparatus. But you can do without it. But for this you will have to make an effort and spend more time. Let's take a step-by-step photo of the cooking instructions for this wonderful everyone's favorite dessert.

Cooking cotton candy on special equipment

The easiest way to make cotton candy is to use a device specially designed for this purpose. It can be ordered online or found in hardware stores.

It produces a large amount of product in a short time, which is great for people who often host, or organizers of children's events or theme parties.

The device for cotton candy has a rather unpretentious design: on a stable basis there is a thicket with a metal disk that heats up during operation.

The principle of operation of the unit is very simple, which allows you to easily and quickly create your favorite sweet dish:

  1. Gently rinse a brand new car with hot water, rinse with detergent, wipe dry and leave to dry completely;
  2. Connect the device to the network and let it run for 5 minutes to warm up;
  3. Pour two large spoons of sugar onto a metal disc. From heating, it will begin to melt and begin to turn into threads;
  4. Immerse the stick into the bowl and collect ready-made threads on it. Collect the mixture that sticks to the side walls, but do not throw it away. It can make delicious lollipops. That's all. Our delicacy is ready.

The unit is very convenient, compact dimensions make it easy to wash and store it. But everything has its downsides. This device is no exception:

  • Constant overheating. Because of this, you need to regularly turn off and cool the device;
  • You can stain the surrounding area when working;
  • Constant cleaning of the bowl and other parts is required, otherwise failure may occur.

There is another way to make cotton candy:

  • It is necessary to prepare the sugar-based syrup in advance, then pour it on top of the disk;
  • From the rotation of the heated disk, the syrup turns into threads that are distributed along the walls of the bowl;
  • The finished product is collected and wound on sticks.

The device allows you to experiment with additives and syrups, which will make your cotton wool original and bright. Walnut-caramel, mint-lemon, strawberry-vanilla - these are just a small part of the new syrups that can be included in the dish.

DIY cotton candy machine

It happens that there is no money to buy new equipment. Do not despair. A machine for preparing your favorite treat can be designed independently. This is especially easy for people who have at least some skills in electrical engineering. The assembly scheme is as follows:

  1. Prepare two tin caps (can be used from baby food in jars);
  2. Wash them thoroughly, then remove all paint with sandpaper or a file. This must be taken very carefully to prevent the ingress of paint residues into the finished product;
  3. Create many small holes in the first lid. The resulting threads will come out of them. Provide the second cap with one large hole in the center. Sugar will be poured here;
  4. Combine the covers so that there is a cavity between them. Strengthen the structure with wire;
  5. Attach a motor from any small household appliances (for example, a hair dryer or a mixer) to the covers with nuts;
  6. Now you need to create a solid foundation for attaching the resulting mechanism. To do this, you can use a piece of plywood;
  7. Align the motor with the terminals of the battery or batteries of the "Krona" type, be sure to observe the polarity. On one side, place a semicircular partition made of a cardboard sheet folded in half;
  8. Pour 40 g of sugar into the hole, heat the rotating lid using matches or a lighter;
  9. When melting, threads will begin to appear and settle on the partition;
  10. The finished product must be wound on a stick.

You will get not quite airy cotton candy, but a little dense. To make it look more like a purchased one, sugar should be replaced with isomalt, a powder analogue of granulated sugar.

Cooking cotton candy without a device

The preparation of cotton candy can be carried out without the apparatus. The process will be a little more complicated and longer, but the sweetness will turn out delicious and airy. First you need to prepare:

  • Corolla;
  • A saucepan or frying pan with a thick bottom;
  • ceramic bowl;
  • Frames for winding finished products. You can use cocktail tubes, Chinese sticks. Cutlery is also suitable.

The ingredients needed are the following:

  • Sugar (white or cane) - 2-5 large spoons. Calculate by serving size;
  • Water - in a ratio of 1: 3 to sugar. For example, 150 g of sugar accounts for 50 ml of water;
  • Vinegar solution (no more than 6%) - 5-7 ml. Prepare it ahead of time.

Now consider the recipe itself, according to which cotton candy is prepared at home:

  1. Mix sugar and water together, then rub the composition with a fork;
  2. Add vinegar, stir thoroughly and transfer the mixture to the selected container (saucepan or pan) for heating over a small flame;
  3. We heat the composition and mix regularly. We collect the remains from the walls, excluding burning;
  4. When the consistency of the mixture becomes homogeneous, turn off the flame, cool the product to 30-35 degrees, stirring constantly so as not to sugar. Our syrup is ready;
  5. After cooling, we again set the container to a slow flame, boil the contents, then turn off the fire again and cool;
  6. We repeat the process about five times until the syrup stretches and acquires a golden hue;
  7. We lower the edge of the spoon into the finished product, then lift it up. The mixture should be viscous and not tear;
  8. We create a kind of frame of sticks, putting them in a vertical position and carefully fixing them;
  9. Immerse the whisk in the syrup, then circle it around the frame;
  10. We repeat the manipulations until we wind the required number of threads. They should be thin so don't take too much syrup.

To give a new color and taste, you can add food coloring, which are sold everywhere. But it is not safe for children. Therefore, you can use natural ingredients such as raspberry, lemon or beetroot juice. Get a bright fruit cotton wool. In this case, it is necessary to reduce the amount of water, as it will be replenished with juice.

The consistency of the product allows you to create various crafts from it. The kids will love it.

Finally, a few more tips to help simplify the cooking process;

  • It is necessary to use only dry bulk sugar. Refined or wet product is categorically not suitable;
  • Before cooking, it is better to protect the table and other nearby parts of the room with plastic wrap, because dried drops of syrup are very difficult to remove from surfaces;
  • Be careful when handling hot syrup. It is better to take the children out of the kitchen so that they do not burn themselves;
  • The finished product is best consumed immediately. After a while, the delicacy becomes dense and not so tasty.

As you can see, cotton candy at home is quite easy to prepare. You just need to stock up on time and patience. Then you can please your loved ones with this amazing delicacy.

Video: Cooking cotton candy at home using a special machine

Good afternoon, dear readers!

Today, I will describe How to make a cotton candy machine at home.
There is nothing complicated in the design, everything is simple. Also at the end I will write the ingredients for the cotton wool itself.

We will need:
- motor (not a big motor, you can pull it out of the toy);
- lid, which roll up the banks (iron);
- medium box;
- adhesive tape, electrical tape;
- scissors;
- blank paper;
- motor power supply (you can take a charger from your phone and cut off the plug).

It seems that everything, during the text, if not all the details have been added, will be seen.

The manufacturing process of the device

So, let's start, first we take the motor and connect it to the power supply. I cut the USB from the phone and connected the wires to the motor. Thus, you can connect to any USB socket.

So, the motor itself needs to be attached somewhere, I have a motor of this shape and I used a can of bullets for pneumatics as a mount for it, you can think of something else!

The motor itself still needs to be fixed in the box, I decided to make a removable motor, the can of bullets is divided into two parts. The photo makes sense.

We isolate the motor itself well so that the motor does not clog during the manufacture of cotton candy, you can put it in some container, you can wrap it with tape.

Now we need a box. You need to take the middle box, for example, I took the first one that came across. Only the top should be open in it, the rest of the parts are closed.
Here in the photo you can see the shape of the box, however, I cut the hole myself, it turned out crooked.

It is not known what was in the box. Therefore, in order to protect ourselves, it was decided to glue it with something inside, I used food paper, cakes, pies and the like are usually baked on it. If you don’t have it, you can use clean paper, oilcloth, well, who has enough imagination for what.
To keep the paper confident, I glued it with tape on the sides:

Now the next step, we need to fix the motor in the center of the box so that it holds confidently and does not go around much. You also need to remove the wire so that it does not stick out there.

Next, we need an ordinary iron lid, which is used to roll up cans, the lid must be fixed on the rotating part of the motor, at the top. You need to attach as evenly and tightly as possible. Be sure to check that the motor turns the lid and does not scroll, and that the lid spins as smoothly as possible.

Everything, the most important thing we have done, cheers! The matter remains small, to prepare the "mixture" itself for the preparation of cotton candy.
Who prepared the so-called "cockerels" in sugar molds, he will already begin to guess what will be discussed.

Who does not understand, we read:

We need:

Sugar;
- water;
- a spoon;
- and some kind of capacity.

We take sugar, fall asleep in a container where we will cook, add water. You should get a homogeneous mass, not very thick and not very liquid. Don't overdo it with water!

After pouring sugar and water, mix a little, put on fire and cook on fire, the main thing is to stir thoroughly, otherwise there will be lumps of sugar. Cook until the mass becomes brown already, there will be bulbs - this is normal.

After we have cooked, do not let it cool down, turn on the motor, the lid starts to spin, we start pouring the overcooked sugar from the container directly onto the lid and observe the appearance of cotton candy!

The main thing is not to rush, not to pour out a lot at once, but not to hesitate, otherwise the mass of sugar will harden and nothing will work, it’s better to warm it up once again. That's it, bon appetit everyone. There was no opportunity to capture the process itself, this is my second “apparatus” for cotton candy, I didn’t do it, but I did it the first time more than once, it turned out no worse than the purchased one! You can add dyes, flavors, this will give the look, taste and smell of your cotton candy. If I get a chance, I'll try to post pictures of the process.
