How to store pot and pan lids. How to store pans in the kitchen: original and unexpected devices

What to do when the kitchen is small, and there are so many pots that there is nowhere to put them? There are several practical ways to store kitchen utensils that will save space in a small room and help keep it organized.

A window in a small kitchen should be put to good use. It is desirable to equip it with open shelves, hooks and stands. At the very top, you can install a railing and hang pots, bowls, pans on it. Also, do not ignore the place under the ceiling if it is high in the kitchen. Here you can also install a storage system for pots. This option will look good in a country-style kitchen.

Storing pots on the wall saves a lot of space in a small kitchen. Of course, for this option, you should choose a place near the stove, sink or near the table so that the pots hanging on the wall do not interfere with moving around the kitchen. It is most convenient to store pots and pans near the hob. This saves not only space in the room, but also the time of the hostess, reducing the cooking time.

It is convenient to store pots on rails with hooks. They can be installed anywhere - on the wall, above the window, and even mounted on furniture. But if it is not possible to purchase such a device, then it is not difficult to make it with your own hands from improvised materials.

When it seems that there is not enough space in the closet, then it is worth putting things in order in it. Pull out all the dishes, check their integrity, remove those items that are rarely used on the balcony or in the pantry. Then you need to succinctly arrange the utensils by size, and put the frequently used pans in the first row. All kinds of organizers save space in the closet; today they can be found in hardware stores and they are inexpensive.

Cap storage

It is not only the storage of pots that needs to be properly organized. Lids from them often become a real headache for housewives. Where to put or hide them? Designers suggest using cabinet doors and ordinary plastic hooks, roof rails and metal cells. These little helpers will significantly relieve the space in the cabinets and help to clean up the kitchen.

A small kitchen is a problem for many Russian houses. Housewives have to use various tricks in order to arrange all the kitchen utensils in small cabinets. If the pans can be stacked one inside the other, then the lids take up a lot of extra space. Many housewives dream of lid holders that would save space.

Correct and incorrect storage of pot lids

The usual way to store pots is to line them up and cover with lids. This is convenient if you have a spacious closet, and the number of pots is not more than 5. But even in this case, the space is wasted.

The second option is to put the pans one on top of the other, covering them with lids. At the same time, the covers can be turned over so that the handles do not interfere. This option is more compact, but works in the case of a small amount of utensils.

It is most rational to insert small pots into large ones, and store the lids separately.

Manufacturers of home goods have long solved this problem by inventing special holders for lids. Moreover, there are different types, each hostess will be able to choose an option for her cabinets.

Horizontal storage

The horizontal lid rack is the most convenient storage option. You can immediately see where everything is, you can not waste time searching. Usually horizontal storage is organized in a drawer of a kitchen unit.

The method is only suitable for large kitchens, where there are deep spacious drawers. In this case, it will be easy for you to select one organizer for pot lids.

Another way of horizontal arrangement is hooks under hanging cabinets. If the handles on the lids are made in the form of loops, they can simply be hung on a hook.

Vertical storage

Vertical coasters for pot lids are convenient for small kitchens. The most popular are made in the form of a tray. You can dry dishes on them or store them permanently. The tray can stand on a table, work surface, or inside a deep drawer.

An interesting idea for vertical storage is a rack with mounts. Pot lids hang on clips and take up little space. It is most convenient to put such a rack on the working surface of the kitchen set near the stove.

Another popular option is to store lids on the wall or on the inside of a pot cabinet door. You can buy fasteners at any hardware store or make your own from hooks.

Hangers for towels can be adapted for vertical storage. Attach them to the wall or the inside of the cabinet and insert the cover inside.

Kitchen designers today do not tend to hide all the dishes in cabinets, some are hung on hooks or placed on shelves. If you have a free corner in the kitchen, you can use this technique. Ladles and small pots are hung on hooks, and lids are laid out on horizontal bars next to them.

If you store dishes in deep drawers, you can use small wooden partitions to separate the space for lids. Such compartments can be provided if you make a kitchen to order.

Types of stands

A pot lid holder should take up little space in the kitchen, be comfortable for the hostess and beautiful. It is important for every woman that her kitchen looks neat if guests suddenly drop by. Home furnishing designers are constantly developing new gadgets to make life easier and more convenient.

Stands for hot spoons and lids

When you're making soup, it's important to have a spoon and a lid handy. Especially for this, a stand was invented, where you can put a dirty spoon so as not to stain the table. You can put a lid next to it.

Stands Variera from IKEA

Variera is a series of stands for kitchen utensils. There are several handy containers in this series that can be inserted into drawers and lids can be stored in them. Also in the series there is a stand for pan lids, it is a vertical pins on the base, between which the lids are inserted.

Glass serving coasters for cakes and pastries

Serving coasters for cakes are most conveniently stored in the compartment with plates. They do not have handles to hook onto like lids, so vertical storage is not suitable.

How to make a box with legs yourself

You can make a wooden box for pot lids if you know how to work with wood. This will require several boards and decorative legs.

The finished drawer can be built into a cabinet so that it slides out on rails or placed on a table as a decoration. It can be simply painted or decorated with decoupage, depending on the design of your kitchen.

There are many options for storing kitchen utensils. It is not necessary to use ready-made coasters, you can come up with your own creative solution, which will become the highlight of the kitchen.

Until recently, I kept the pans in the cupboard, stacking them one inside the other, and attaching the lids somewhere nearby. I must say, it irritated me terribly, because sometimes it was very difficult to find an object of the right size. And then I decided to organize the storage of caps in a scientific way, using all the latest household appliances. If you also have similar problems, I will gladly share my experience.

Keeping lids on top of pots, as most inexperienced housewives do, means cluttering up the entire kitchen with containers. And since in most apartments its area is very limited, this method can be immediately rejected.

In most cases, another storage method is also not suitable: a pile or a “matryoshka”. If for pans such an organization is quite justified, then the protruding handles of the lids will create a very unstable structure that will scare you with a roar every time you want to open the drawer.

This method is only suitable for large kitchens. The horizontal arrangement, although very convenient, takes up a lot of space. The ideal option would be to place the lids in a shallow (5 to 15 cm high) drawer that sits above or below the pan storage area. If your kitchen set has a similar design, feel free to load it with lids. They need to be placed in one layer, because otherwise you will not optimize, but rather clutter up your workspace.

Another option for horizontal storage is hooks under hanging drawers in the kitchen. If in the boxes themselves and on them, as a rule, we have something, then under the boxes the space is absolutely free. And if your lids have handles that are not solid, but in the form of loops that can be hung on a hook, this is exactly what you need. However, you can also find holders for solid handles in hardware stores, but they will still be less securely fastened.

Vertical storage

The vertical organization of lids for pots is the most optimal for small and medium-sized kitchens, and a lot of ideas have been invented to date for its implementation. Consider the most popular of them.

Tabletop plastic or metal coasters for dishes. You can also put cutting boards, large dishes and even pans in them. Buying such racks is not a problem, and you can place them both on the countertop and inside the kitchen cabinets. By the way, even banal plastic dryers for plates, which can be found in any hardware store, are quite suitable as table coasters.

Wall racks. Specialty stores sell lid storage structures that can be attached to the wall. They are inexpensive, take up a minimum of space, and the necessary kitchen utensils will always be at your fingertips.

It is very practical to install racks on the walls in the form of horizontal bars with hooks. A variety of kitchen utensils can be hung on hooks, and lids can be stored behind the crossbeams. Another interesting idea: perforated boards, which used to be seen only in garages. Now they are increasingly found in kitchens, because they can be easily “fitted” to the design of the room, and hanging a hook or a rack for storing kitchen trifles is as easy as shelling pears.

Special compartment in a large box. The lion's share of the space in such a box will be occupied by pots and pans, and on the sides of them there are compartments for lids. You can make them yourself or order them at the planning stage of the kitchen set. At the same time, the width of the box must be at least 60 cm, otherwise pots and pans simply may not fit there.

Hinged structures for swinging doors and cabinet walls. It can be both industrial and homemade racks. They are hung on the inside of the walls and doors of kitchen cabinets, and the main criterion for choosing them is your budget and the size of a particular door. There are three main types of such structures: pull-out containers, towel racks and hooks that can be attached with screws or simply Velcro. Retractable containers are made in the form of mesh shelves with limiters, moving along the guide rails. Such an organization will cost an order of magnitude more expensive than hooks and towel racks, but it looks very stylish, and you will not be ashamed to open the closet in front of guests.

By the way: when cooking, it is very convenient to use a stand for one lid and a spoon. This design will make your stay in the kitchen more comfortable and convenient.

Do it yourself

If you do not want to spend money on purchasing organizers, you can make them yourself. Any man is quite capable of screwing hooks under hanging cabinets to organize horizontal storage.

It will also not be difficult to attach several metal sticks for towels to the wall using screws and holders. With the help of such home-made roof rails, it is very convenient to store in the kitchen not only lids for pots, but also other household trifles.

Similarly, towel holders are attached to the inside of the walls and cabinet doors. By the way, they can be both metal and wooden, so if you have the necessary installation skills, a system of such holders will look no worse than purchased racks.

A simpler design can also be attached to cabinet doors, which will also hold kitchen utensils. To do this, take a metal rod or twist a thin wire into several layers and attach it with self-tapping screws in the place of intended storage. Now it remains only to put the lids behind the wire and enjoy the order in the kitchen.

Another mounting option is to glue several hooks with Velcro on the reverse side to the door or inner wall of the cabinet. A container for one lid is made using 3-4 hooks attached in accordance with its perimeter.

To organize a large-scale storage of various appliances in the kitchen, you can hang a homemade perforated board. It is easy to buy it at a hardware store by grabbing the appropriate set of hooks. Attached at an angle, these hooks will hold your lids securely. In addition, pots, ladles, knives, boards, graters and other kitchen utensils can be hung on hooks on the board.

Your brownie.

An inquisitive mind is about us! Today, the Everything in Place team decided to deal with the storage of pots, pans and lids for them. The idea for the article came about when one of the participants raised the issue of storing these kitchen utensils in our closed WhatsApp chat, and many supported her.

Pots and pans take up a lot of space. Their number in different families can reach a dozen, or even more. And covers are generally violators of order in many kitchens. You can’t put them in a neat pile: they are of different sizes, convex, and even the handles stick out ...

Well, let's see how others are, and what ideas the browser search threw up.

Assessing the enemy

If you are thinking about how to clean up your kitchen utensils, then before reading the article further, do the calculations. The first action when restoring order is to throw out the unnecessary. The second is to evaluate the rest.

Throw out the unnecessary.

I strongly advise you to collect all the supplies of pots and pans in one place and assess the condition of each. Surely among them there are those that do not look very good: non-washable soot, dents, exfoliating steel bottom, chips on the enamel, Teflon coating with “tatters”. Do you like them? Are they fun to cook in? It is better to leave two or three neat pots and cook in them with pleasure!

Worried about not having enough cooking utensils? Simply transfer cooked food to reusable containers with lids before putting them in the refrigerator. With containers, by the way, it is more convenient to organize its contents. Round pots with domed lids take up a lot of space, you can't see what they contain, and transparent rectangular containers can be stacked one on top of the other.

We count the rest.

Even if you do not dare to throw something away, then the "general meeting" of pots and pans will not hurt. You will be able to estimate the number of dishes and lids for them. And knowing the number, you can choose options for organizing.

Pyramid

A friend sent me a photo of her drawer of kitchen utensils. She keeps pots and lids in sets: she flips pot lids upside down and puts them on top of the pot. You can put a smaller pan on the resulting flat area, an even smaller one on it, etc. Sort of a pyramid.

pros:
. the method is suitable for deep and high drawers (and there are many of these in our kitchens and it’s always unclear how to organize them better),
. you take the pan, and the lid is right there, no need to look for it in other places.
Minuses:
. Not all pans allow you to treat yourself like this. For example, the lid on the steel pan at the very top of the stack in the photo is unstable (I have the same one) - you can’t put anything on it.

Saucepan + lid

A variation on the previous storage method, pots are stored together with lids without piling up on top of each other. For the happy owners of ample storage space in the kitchen. Note:

1. Drawers are great for this method.
2. You can make dividers in the drawer, guided by the size of your dishes, in order to return them to their place without thinking and without choosing a place each time.
3. But even ordinary cabinets can be converted into pull-out shelves.

4. How do you use corner cabinets? If they are a perpetual mess, then think about the fact that pans on roll-out or spinning shelves would perfectly get along in corner cabinets. Search in your city, and you will surely find a company that re-equips ready-made kitchen sets.

5. By the way, is it necessary put pots? If you have a large collection of saucepans (pots with long handles), then you can hang them. If the handles of the lids allow, then even together. And Teflon and ceramic-coated pans will appreciate such gentle handling.

Thus,
pros:
. easy to take, easy to put back in place, the dishes are immediately complete with a lid.
Minuses:
. roll-out drawers or special hangers are needed, which are not available in every kitchen (but rails are not a very expensive option).

roof rails

Speaking of rails! When storage space is scarce (like in my kitchen, for example), they can come in handy and provide an easy way to store pans and lids.

pros:
. roof rails are inexpensive and multifunctional (you won’t like how the covers stand - you can hang something else).
Minuses:
. dishes stored on rails should look, if not perfect, then very decent.

But the rails do not have to be visible. Attach them to the inside of the cabinet door, and the lids will be inseparable from the pots. At the same time, they are easy to take and return to their place.

Pay attention to an interesting life hack. The "hidden" storage shown above can be organized using Velcro hooks . The lids are not too heavy and the hooks hold them perfectly.

Matryoshka

But the most popular way that many participants in the discussion use is to put pots and pans one into the other, and store the lids separately. Wherein:

1. Lids can lie side by side.

2. They can in the next box (for example, in the lower deep pan, and above, in the “shallow”, or in the additional section - the lid).

pros:
. pans stacked in each other take up a minimum of space.
Minuses:
. this method does not guarantee order in the rows of caps. So:

3. You can use dividers in drawers.

4. Or specialized holder organizers, both for pans and pots, and for lids.

5. By the way, about holders for caps. In a rare house there are no such devices. The problem is that there are usually a lot more caps. Please note that they can be placed not only on rails, but also inside cabinets, closer to the pots.

Concluding the article, I will also mention an interesting device that solves the problem with the lid, which right now lies on the pan with the food being prepared. Any food during the cooking process, we stir from time to time. To do this, the cover must be removed and put somewhere. On a table nearby? Then you need to wash the wet, or even greasy stain from the cover. Exit - a special stand. There are many variations of them - any materials and designs.

I invite you to visit the section on our website: here you will find a lot of nice little things that will help you conveniently organize storage in the kitchen (and not only). Usually these items have to be fished out here and there in different stores.

An economical option is an analogue of the IKEA Variera drawer made of white plastic.

A more solid one looks like a narrow mesh shelf with limiters.

Both options move along guide rails, which are fixed to the lower inner part of the cabinet next to one of the side walls.

4. Table stands for a pair of lids and other utensils

If there are few kitchen utensils, and there is enough space on the countertop, you can store the lids in a similar table stand. And with them - cutting boards, flat dishes and even small pans.

5. We place covers on the shelves of wall or floor cabinets

It can be called a modification of desktop storage, but more capacious. You can use table-top dish racks or wooden racks to store plates, or look in stores for special tools for this kind of lid. All this economy is placed inside deep drawers or (more often) on the shelves of cabinets, usually floor-mounted.

6. Wall racks for lids

If you have nothing against open storage of kitchen trifles, pay attention to the possibility of organizing a place for lids from pots and pans on the wall.

These racks are quite economical in price, and the height (how many covers are designed) can be chosen according to your own needs.

And now let's talk about the most economical (and original) ways to store pot and pan lids. If instead of spending money, you prefer to invest your own skills and resourcefulness, make your own organizer racks.

7. Rails for storing lids on walls and cabinet doors

The easiest and most budget option. Suitable for storing lids on the wall or the inside of a kitchen cabinet door. Measure the distance of the surface allocated for this purpose, and then simply purchase the appropriate railing.

Mounting type and material - any. Screw on with the included (or custom-selected) fasteners and enjoy keeping your pot lids organized.

If you use roof rails to organize a large-scale storage system on a free wall, just place more hooks there: you can hang a variety of kitchen utensils on them, and store lids behind the rungs.
