Decorating "Block House" inside the house: design ideas and installation methods. Interior decoration of a block house: Photo Combination in the interior of a block house and wallpaper

The block house is able to make an excellent competitor to the eurolining. Wooden panels are produced using the latest developments and technologies, and the use of a blockhouse for interior decoration helps to reproduce the unique atmosphere of comfort and home coziness. The smell of freshly planed wood has the most beneficial effect on the well-being of all household members.

According to its characteristics, the block house is more like a lining. The individual parts of the coating are joined using a tenon and a groove. There are special ventilation slots on the flat surface of the board, the outer side looks like a calibrated log.

A block house is considered a natural finishing material, and accordingly has certain quality characteristics:

  • environmental friendliness - absolute non-toxicity of the finishing material. During the manufacture, the wood undergoes only a natural drying process, the surface is not treated with chemicals that can harm a person;
  • thermal insulation - wood panels are an excellent insulator capable of maintaining a comfortable temperature in the room;
  • sound insulation - walls decorated with a blockhouse do not allow outside sounds from the street to enter the house, creating good sound and noise insulation;
  • ease of assembly - the well-thought-out design of the panels does not cause any difficulties during the installation process;
  • light weight - the lightness of the entire structure allows you to use the material for interior decoration of walls of loggias and balconies;
  • external appeal - decorators actively use the aesthetic appearance of the finishing material to create unique interiors in a popular rustic style;
  • combination - a wide variety of finishing materials can be organically combined with a blockhouse.

Among the existing shortcomings stand out:

  • fire hazard - in order to reduce the increased flammability of the material, it is necessary to treat the already finished surfaces with a special compound;
  • the possibility of deformation - careless actions during the installation of walls can leave serious dents and defects on the finishing material;
  • low vapor permeability - during operation, mold and mildew may form under the panels. To avoid negative consequences, it is necessary to equip good ventilation and regularly ventilate the room.

Types of block house for interior decoration

Before proceeding with the selection of panels for decorating walls in a residential or utility room, you should pay attention to their size, type and grade. House block for interior decoration has a smaller size, its width is about 9 cm. The small size of the panels helps to visually expand the boundaries of rooms. If you use larger wooden panels to decorate the walls, you can achieve the opposite effect: the room will turn out to be small and uncomfortable.

Separation of material by grade:

  • Elite material - smooth and even panels have no visible scratches, chips and defects. Premium material is used for wall decoration in elite country cottages;
  • grade A - high-quality finishing material is chosen for interior decoration of living rooms and commercial facilities;
  • Grade B - there are various irregularities and knots on the surface of the wood panels. Most often, the economy option is chosen for arranging steam rooms and baths;
  • grade C - a slightly presentable grade of wood used for finishing closets or outbuildings.

Block house varieties

On sale, you can also find intermediate versions AB or BC. Before purchasing a finishing material, you should make sure that the wood has been stored in conditions that comply with all standards. Otherwise, the finish after installation may crack or warp.

How to choose the right one

For the production of natural finishing materials, deciduous and coniferous trees are used. Pine has a large number of knots that create a unique pattern, spruce gives the finishing material an excellent texture, and cedar is able to maintain an excellent microclimate in a living room.

Before choosing one or another type of decoration, it is necessary to determine whether decoration will be carried out in residential or auxiliary premises. If you want to finish block house inside the house, you can choose a variety of finishing panels.

For the interior arrangement of a bath or dressing room, it is not recommended to use conifers; it is better to give preference to wooden panels made of alder, linden or aspen.

Coniferous wood under the influence of temperature gives off resin, in addition, it has a high heat capacity. The coating can become hot and uncomfortable. Linden, on the other hand, reduces the likelihood of negative influences.

Interesting use cases

During the interior decoration of the block house, various design solutions can be used. The photo shows the most original decoration options.

Wall decoration can be:

  • complete - the ceiling and all walls in the room are sewn up with a block house;
  • combined - in this case, one or more walls of the room are decorated with a finishing material.

Combined

House block can be organically combined with other decorative elements, for example, clapboard, wallpaper or textured plaster. Natural material goes well with stone or glass, as well as with forged decorative elements. The use of wood panels for wall decoration allows decorators to bring to life the most original ideas and unusual solutions. Vivid examples of decoration can be seen in the photo.

Decorators use wooden panels to recreate the interior setting of a merchant courtyard or a simple peasant house. If you wish, you can create the atmosphere of a hunting lodge or a cozy design of an alpine chalet in the living space.

Wall decoration with natural environmentally friendly material is carried out in the living room, bedroom or in the children's room. Examples of decorating living rooms can be found in the photo gallery. Wooden panels are often used to decorate auxiliary buildings. These include baths and saunas. The photo selection contains options for decorating the walls of the steam room and dressing room.

Decorators choose block house panels to create beautiful landscaping. Fences, gazebos or open terraces are used as building materials.

Block house interior decoration technology

Installation of building material indoors, is carried out along the crate, for the arrangement there is no need to pre-prepare the surfaces and level the walls. The lathing consists of a set of wooden planed bars or slats, which are attached to the wall at a calculated pitch. To create a structure, you need a 5x5 cm bar or a rail up to 7 cm wide. Cut-to-size bars are installed at a distance of 50-70 cm along a level or plumb line.

Installation of the lathing and laying of insulation

During assembly, the board must be placed with the spike upwards - this will allow to avoid the accumulation of condensation during operation. To avoid surface deformations, the panels should not be installed close to each other.

The block house panels are attached to the lathing using clamps, self-tapping screws or nails. The fastening method primarily depends on the size of the wooden board. Nails can be used to install thin boards, and thicker finishing material is mounted using self-tapping screws.

Fastening a block house in a thorn with a screw Special staples (clamps)

You can start decorating the walls not only from below, but also from above. A small gap should be left from the edges of the sheathing for better air circulation under the surface to be decorated.

During installation, the wooden board is inserted with a protruding spike directly into the groove. It is especially important that the tenon of the first and subsequent boards is positioned towards the natural light source. In this case, you can successfully hide the formed joint. After joining, the panels are fastened with screws or nails to the crate.

To increase the service life of the surface to be decorated, the panels must be treated with a special compound. The finish is primed and then coated with clear paint or wax-based varnish. After drying, the surface is sanded and covered with another layer of varnish.

Care rules

Today there are many modern means that can protect the surface of the wall cladding made of block house panels. Most often, wax or special primers are used. After processing the coating with special means, it is necessary to periodically clean it from dust with a vacuum cleaner or carry out a little damp cleaning. It is not recommended to use modern cleaning agents or abrasive materials.

You can give natural wood a bright picturesque shade with the help of a variety of paints and varnishes and wood stains. The lacquer coating significantly increases the life of the interior decoration, but it needs to be renewed annually. The stain will favorably emphasize the excellent texture of the wood material, create an effective shine of the surfaces and help the finishing material to acquire the required color.

Despite its traditional look, interior block house decoration can be attributed to modern types of decoration. Wooden panels fit perfectly into any modern style, helping to create interiors that are unique about their beauty and luxury.

With the help of convenient functional blocks, it is possible in the shortest possible time to change the style of home decoration without resorting to the help of specialists. In the photo you can see options for decorating a block house for modern interiors in high-tech, loft, minimalism styles.

Block house today is the most attractive option for finishing spacious country estates or a cozy country house. To create a high-quality coating, it is necessary to observe all stages of installation and subsequent care of the decorated surfaces as accurately as possible. Modern material allows you to create an original and aesthetic interior in the room and at the same time, thanks to its environmental friendliness, provides the most comfortable living conditions.

Interior design options using a block house.

For several years now, decorating a house with a block house, both inside and outside, has been breaking all records in terms of its popularity and demand. It allows you to give a building an elite look, even if it was built from the most ordinary and nondescript raw materials. In addition, cladding a house with a block house makes it possible to increase its heat and sound insulation characteristics.

Compared to other finishing options, the house block has a number of advantageous advantages.

  • House block is completely non-toxic and extremely environmentally friendly. During its production, drying is carried out in a natural way, the wood is not impregnated with harmful chemical compounds.
  • The cladding of a house with a block house is technologically very simple. Thanks to the “groove-spike” system, installation can be carried out even by a non-specialist.
  • The material is lightweight, so a block with a house can be finished from the inside even balconies and loggias.
  • Block house panels are perfectly combined with different materials, so that the widest range of design ideas becomes available. The block house looks especially advantageous with textured plaster, stone (natural and artificial) and glass. If you prefer wallpaper, go for the embossed options.

House cladding outside

However, like any other material, the house block has a number of disadvantages. The most significant are:

  • Low fire safety. The panels are made of wood, which is highly flammable. Therefore, it is recommended to additionally process them with fire retardants.
  • Insufficient vapor permeability. Because of it, during operation, the formation of fungal and mold colonies under the block house is possible. This can be avoided by treatment with bactericidal compounds and high-quality ventilation equipment.
  • The need for subsequent care of the block with a house: it will periodically have to be opened with varnish or paint.

However, all these disadvantages do not discourage developers from using panels: the advantages of a block house are much more attractive.

To the question of choice

If you decide to decorate your house with a block house, first decide whether the cladding will be internal or external. Finishing materials intended for facade work have a large width (usually 23 cm). For cladding the premises from the inside, a narrower house block is produced, 7-12 cm wide. This is due to the visual effect: thin strips visually increase the space, making the room "promising" and airy.

It is worth paying attention to the thickness of the wood. For outer cladding, it is better to take panels as thick as possible, 4.5 cm.For interior decoration, a minimum of 2 cm is enough.

Now about the type of wood from which the block house is made. Panels made of pine, spruce or cedar are recommended for interior decoration - they maintain a unique microclimate in the house and have an elegant texture. However, if the room being trimmed is a bathhouse or steam room, conifers should be avoided: when heated, this wood releases resins that are not useful for the body, and it becomes very hot, causing discomfort. For a steam room, it is better to prefer linden, alder or aspen.

As for the quality, the block house panels have several classes. The elite variety is very expensive and is used exclusively for finishing high-class houses. Grade A is used for cladding living quarters (outside and inside), grade B is suitable for decorating steam rooms and baths (only from the inside; during outdoor work, it will quickly fail). House class C block is used only for decoration of utility rooms.

House metal block

In addition to structures made of wood, the construction industry offers consumers vinyl and metal panels. However, we note that both are suitable only for facade cladding. Moreover, metal building material is mainly used for finishing industrial premises - it does not add comfort and elegance to a residential building. And vinyl material has installation features that only a professional builder can handle. Therefore, most people prefer natural wood finishing materials.

Materials and tools

To upholster the house with a block house, you will need:

  • Bars made of wood, having a section of either 30x40 or 40x50 mm. They are needed for the equipment of the lathing. If you wish, you can also buy metal structures.
  • The block house itself. It should be purchased with some margin, in case some of the elements are damaged during installation. It is not recommended to buy additional finishing materials later: they may not coincide in shade with the main part.
  • Means for impregnating wood. It is already provided with standard protection in the enterprise, but there will be no redundant post-processing.

  • Finishing paints, varnishes or stains.
  • Decorative corners for corner decoration; for internal work - plinths, for external - platbands.
  • Fasteners (self-tapping screws, clamps or nails, must be treated to prevent rusting).
  • A hacksaw for dividing a block of a house into proportional elements.
  • Drill, stapler, hammer (or mallet), brushes, tape measure, plumb line or building level. You may also need a sander.

If the block is sheathed with a house facade, you will also need a waterproofing film, a vapor barrier (often kraft paper with a layer of foil is used as it) and a heater. The last point is not necessary, but usually the block house finishing is combined with additional thermal insulation.

Internal cladding

Before upholstering the walls with a house block, it must be "adapted" to the operating conditions. For this, the purchased building materials are removed from the packaging and left for several days in the room that will be finished with them. Then the wood should be treated with an antiseptic (and preferably with a fire retardant) and wait for the composition to dry. The installation itself consists of the following steps.

  • If the walls have an old finish, it is dismantled.
  • In adjacent corners, two planks are leveled and fixed.
  • A cord is pulled between the slats - it will help to simplify the placement of other battens of the crate, since it eliminates the need to align each of them in level.
  • At a distance of 50-60 cm from one another, the rest of the battens are installed. It is not necessary to level the walls under it: the curvature is leveled by the wooden scraps placed under the bars.
  • If desired, insulation can be laid in the crate cells.
  • The first house block board is placed strictly horizontally (control the level). Fixation is done with any fastener, but clamps are still preferable - they do not leave holes. Correct arrangement of elements - thorn up. Thanks to this position, condensation will not accumulate in the grooves.
  • Each subsequent plank is put into the groove with a spike. For a tighter entry, it should be knocked out with a hammer with a rubber nozzle or a wooden mallet. However, the elements should not fit end-to-end: a gap of 1-2 mm is left between them, since the wood "breathes", then increasing, then decreasing in volume.
  • The inner corners are joined by decorative overlays. The openings of windows and doors are closed with special strips.

When all the walls are faced, you can walk around the block house with a grinder. The last step will be to open the surfaces with a stain or varnish. In case of using varnish, apply at least two coats.

Outdoor work

When cladding the facade with a block house, the material also needs to be acclimatized. To do this, the packaging is removed from it, and the panels are laid on the street in such a way that they are isolated from precipitation - under a canopy or covered with construction polyethylene. Impregnation with bactericidal compounds is carried out in the same manner as for the interior decoration of the block house. The old finish is dismantled in the same way, if the house is not a new building.

The installation sequence is as follows.

  • If the house is made of wood, the walls are covered with a water-repellent primer. If they are stone or concrete, they are covered with a waterproofing and vapor barrier film. All joints are glued with construction tape.
  • A crate is applied over the insulation. The step between its slats is half a meter. The elements of the crate must also be treated with an antiseptic before installation.
  • A heat-insulating material is mounted, which is closed on top with moisture and wind protection.
  • Be sure to leave a ventilation gap between the insulation and the block house. For its arrangement, a counter-lattice is installed, stuffed over the original structure.
  • Installation of the panels themselves must be carried out from below. The first house block is set by level; strict horizontality is verified every 2-3 elements. The arrangement of the panels is the same, with the groove down. The breathing gap is increased to 3 mm.

For inexperienced finishers, the difficulty of facing a block with house is usually finishing the corners. Experts recommend expelling both abutting walls and closing the joint with either a purchased decorative corner or a wagon board.

After the completion of the work, the walls lined with a block house are sanded and varnished (always wax-based or water-repellent) in several layers. Platbands and door linings are mounted last. Depending on the circumstances, fastening is carried out with self-tapping screws or nails. There is also an option for planting glue pads.

A properly laid house block will provide comfort in the house and its aesthetic appearance for many years. It will only be necessary to renew the varnish coating once every 5-6 years.

If you are not confident in your abilities and are afraid to spoil the purchased building materials, or do not have enough time to carry out the work, contact the specialists. Your home will be transformed in a matter of days.

Block House came to us from Europe. Due to its beautiful appearance and good technical characteristics, it has gained popularity. The building material is made from wood or materials that copy natural wood species.

Consider the design features of the facade, finished with a block house, and describe the sequence of cladding the house with wood panels.

Siding "block house": design features

House block is a popular building material used in the exterior and interior decoration of the walls of the house. The surface, which is sheathed with a block house, resembles a wall, trimmed with natural wood. The elements are made of wood or galvanized steel, covered with a polymer film, the shape of the elements is double or single "logs".

The cladding boards have a convex front and a flat back. The ribs are provided with spikes and grooves for joining the elements.

Before you start arranging a house from a block house, you need to understand the device of this type of ventilated facade. The design includes the required elements:

  1. Insulation - protects the insulation from moisture vapor. The vapor barrier layer allows steam to pass in the direction of the wall, preventing it from penetrating to the insulation.
  2. Lathing - creates a cavity between the wall of the house and the block house, serves as the basis for attaching the slats. The lathing is made of a wooden bar with a section of 100 * 40 mm or 50 * 40 mm (depending on the type of thermal insulation material). This structural element acts as a frame for fixing the house block.
  3. Thermal insulation layer - foam, mineral wool, etc. The thickness of the insulation must be at least 10 cm.
  4. The wind barrier is mounted on the lathing timber and additionally protects the insulation from the moisture contained in the air.
  5. The counter grill provides space between the windscreen and the block house. The counter lattice is made of small cross-section beams - 20 * 40 mm. If we neglect this element of the facade structure, then the wooden lamellas of the house block will quickly rot.
  6. External cladding - house block.

Advantages and disadvantages of different types of block houses

The main criterion for the classification of a block house is the material of manufacture. For finishing work, wood, metal and vinyl panels are often used.

Coniferous and deciduous species of wood (cedar, pine, Siberian larch and spruce) are used in the production of a wooden block house. These types of wood are resistant to decay and will last a long time.

Wooden lamellas are made using the following technology:

  1. Logs are sawn using the "square in a circle" method. The result is four blanks.
  2. The workpieces are placed in a drying chamber.
  3. Drying takes about 2 weeks. If you dry the wood naturally, it will take about 6 months.

House block made of wood has a number of advantages:

  • strength - the surface of the panels can withstand high mechanical / physical stress without losing its original appearance;
  • a damaged finishing element can be restored - sanded or replaced;
  • the material is lightweight;
  • ease of installation;
  • environmentally friendly material;
  • the walls, sheathed with a wooden block house, "breathe" - a favorable microclimate of the room is created;
  • block house additionally insulates the house;
  • high decorativeness and attractiveness of the wooden facade.

House block made of wood needs regular cleaning and varnishing - these measures increase the moisture resistance of the material and extend the service life of the cladding

Facade decoration is often performed with metal sheets of a block house, which have some features:

  • building material is made of steel with a thickness of at least 0.5 mm;
  • the steel body of the element is zinc plated;
  • from the inside, the metal plate is treated with a primer and paint, and a drawing imitating natural wood is applied to the front side of the house block;
  • the main advantages of a metal facade are durability and high strength; a house block of this type withstands temperature fluctuations, is resistant to moisture and does not change its characteristics under the influence of unfavorable climatic conditions;
  • House metal block has different shapes - in one or two logs.

Vinyl panels include protective reinforcing components and additional plasticizers. Vinyl block house has many of the advantages of wood panels, but it is stronger, cheaper and comes in a wide range of colors.

How to choose a material for decorating a block house

Choosing a block house is not an easy task. Boards differ among themselves not only in the material of manufacture, but also in other parameters. When buying lamellas, it is advisable to be guided by the following expert advice:

  1. For facade work, it is necessary to use boards with a width of at least 15 cm, it is desirable that all lamellas have the same dimensions.
  2. It is better to choose long boards - this will reduce the number of joints. The standard lamella length is 6 m.
  3. Exterior siding is made of coniferous wood block. The ideal option is larch.
  4. Boards from the northern regions are denser - this property improves the other characteristics of the material. The density of the wood can be checked using the annual rings. The closer they are to each other, the denser the material.
  5. You should not buy wooden boards if they have defects: cracks, rotten knots, mildew or bluish spots.
  6. Grinding should be small: in width - about 8 mm, in depth - 3 mm.
  7. The admissible moisture level of wooden boards is 20%. This value should be shown on the building material certificate.
  8. House block packaging must be complete, without damage.

Installation rules for lamellas "block house"

Do-it-yourself house cladding with a block house must be performed in compliance with a number of rules:

  1. Installation is carried out along the rails, and not directly to the wall.
  2. It is preferable to fix the house block using clasps or metal brackets. It is better to use self-tapping screws with an anti-corrosion coating for fixing thick boards of a house block.
  3. Before starting installation, it is advisable to hold wooden boards indoors for several days. This will reduce the moisture content of the material.
  4. During fastening, the panels are positioned so that the groove is at the bottom and the spike is at the top. This method reduces the risk of dust / dirt accumulation in the groove and increases the service life of the cladding.
  5. A gap must be left between the floor / ceiling surface and the cladding for natural ventilation.
  6. There should also be a small gap between the boards. This measure will prevent deformation of the material in the event of moisture ingress and temperature extremes.

Finishing the facade of the house with a block house: a phased course of work

Consider how to properly sheathe a house with a block house. We will consider the installation process using the example of wooden panels.

Tools and materials

In addition to the block house itself, you will need other materials for work:

Important! It is better not to use polystyrene as insulation. This heat insulator does not work well with wood, as it has low vapor permeability and supports combustion.

Required tools:

  • level;
  • brush;
  • hammer;
  • sandpaper or grinder;
  • saw;
  • electric drill;
  • screwdriver.

Preparatory activities

Before you start decorating a wooden block house, you need to carry out preparatory measures.

House cladding block house

Installation of boards starts from the bottom corner, panels are fastened horizontally. Fixing the block house with clamps:

  1. Attach the cleats to the crate with self-tapping screws.
  2. Insert the first panel into the tabs of the fasteners. The location of the board is groove down.
  3. Put the groove of the next panel on the spike located below the installed batten element.
  4. Cladding work continues until the entire wall has been paneled with a block of house.

If the clamps are replaced with self-tapping screws, then before installing the boards, it is necessary to prepare the grooves for the fasteners. Fixation takes place in increments of 40 cm. Self-tapping screws are screwed in at an angle of 45 °.

In order for the finish to have an aesthetic appearance, the screws must be masked. For this, the remains of wood panels, ready-made plugs or wooden "paste" are suitable.

To decorate the inner corners, "boats" are suitable, special skirting boards or planed beams 5 * 5 cm are applied to the outer corners. Experts recommend fixing the timber before sheathing - this will fix the house block panels to the timber and make the finish as attractive as possible.

Door and window openings are decorated with platbands. The main function of the platbands is to hide cracks and protect against the penetration of cold air, precipitation and debris.

You can choose decorative platbands with interesting carved patterns and unusual ornaments. Platbands can be flat, rounded or curly in shape. The choice depends on the style and general facade of the house.

Decorating a block house inside the house

The installation of a house block inside the house practically does not differ from the external cladding, but it has some nuances:

  • small width boards are used for work;
  • the outer and inner corners are fixed at the end of the assembly of the block house.

Important! It is better not to use wooden block house panels for finishing the interior walls of damp rooms. Otherwise, the material must be covered with a layer of varnish.

Processing and maintenance of panels block house

To ensure the long-term operation of the finishing, wooden block houses must be treated with protective coatings: stain, antiseptic, varnish, paint and mastic.

Processing sequence:

  1. Prime the surface of the house block.
  2. Apply a layer of varnish or colorless paint.
  3. The protective coating must be renewed every 5-7 years. It is advisable to reapply the same varnish or paint, otherwise the previous layer will have to be removed with a grinder.

Important! To avoid the appearance of white stripes when wood panels dry out, the spike block of the house must be varnished before installation.

House cladding block house: video

The interior, in which there is wood, always looks unusual, noble and homely cozy. However, such finishing has long been associated with laboriousness. Fortunately, today there is a block house cladding option, the installation of which can be performed even without professional construction skills.

Peculiarities

Block house is a wooden material for exterior and interior cladding. In some ways it is similar to the clapboard - the same fixation system, the naturalness of the composition. However, the block house is large in size and imitates a natural bar or log. In the second case, the outer (inwardly facing) side has bulges that look like the surface of a rounded log.

The cladding by a block house brings a special serenity and respectability into the room. Being a natural material, it has a beneficial effect on the indoor microclimate and is pleasant to the touch.

Thanks to the variety of types, shades and textures, it is possible to bring to life the most unusual design solutions, achieving originality and identity of the interior.

The advantage of this type of cladding is also the ability to hide small defects in the walls, since the block house is attached to the frame. The latter, by the way, allows you to create a gap between the wall and the cladding, into which the insulation can be laid. In other words, you can insulate it at the same time as decorating the house.

However, natural wood itself is a good insulation, and also has sound insulating characteristics.

The material is lightweight, which eliminates the need for additional strengthening of walls and foundations, simplifies transportation and installation.

Like any natural wood surface, block house cladding requires regular maintenance.

In this case, it will retain its attractive appearance for decades.

In the lining of the corridor, the combination of a block house with clapboard looks spectacular, an original transition of lines and textures is obtained. For small areas, it is preferable to choose a material of light shades. However, both gray and golden brown will do.

Colors

The color of a block house is determined primarily by the material from which it is made. The most popular are the light shades of the block house. So, pine panels have a sunny golden warm hue.

They are ideal for creating Scandinavian-style interiors, for example, as well as for kitchens.

A rich color palette is typical for oak products. Depending on the method of growth and the method of processing, the shade of the wood varies from white (bleached oak) to almost black (stained).

Walnut looks noble and elegant in the interior. It has a rather dark, pleasant chocolate hue, which becomes more and more saturated during use.

Another option for a premium block house is made of beech wood. Its wood has an amazing pinkish shade of varying degrees of saturation - from powdery, closer to ivory, to brown with red reflections.

After installation, wooden surfaces can be stained or varnished. They do not change the shade, but they make the relief of the tree more expressive. But special paints can transform the surface.

Today, compositions are being produced, after applying which an ordinary inexpensive tree in its appearance begins to resemble expensive varieties.

Design solutions

A thin and light block house is suitable for cladding both a city apartment and a country house. Moreover, the latter does not necessarily have to have a massive base; sheathing of a frame house is a fairly common practice in private housing construction. Moreover, there are many ideas for cladding.

It is not at all necessary to sheathe the entire room with a block house, it can be a certain zone. The material goes well with stone, brick, tiled surfaces.

The block house can be combined with other wooden textures (board, clapboard), as well as delicate noble textiles. This warm natural material is harmoniously combined with wrought iron and glass elements.

A block house is the best option for recreating the atmosphere of a house in the Russian style - an expensive merchant's or more laconic, in some ways even ascetic peasant. Interior styles such as chalets, the atmosphere of a small hunting lodge are also impossible without the use of wood.

In this case, a block house is an affordable and easy-to-use option.

Due to the environmental friendliness of the material, it can be used not only in the living room and corridor, but also in bedrooms, dining rooms and even children's rooms.

The cladding of a block-house cabinet will add rigor, respectability to it, emphasize the status and good taste of its owner. It is better to select a material of a darker shade, combining it with matching furniture, natural leather, original design elements.

For living rooms and bedrooms, it is better to choose lighter options, a combination of several different types of block house is possible. If panels for rounded logs are used, they will attract attention. In this case, furniture and accessories should have simple shapes and be rather restrained.

A combination of stone, wood and glass looks attractive in the living room.

When finishing with a block house, a bathroom can be turned into a luxurious boudoir. Usually a light-colored material is used here as well. As an option - bleached wood. For more aristocracy, you can add dark "logs". Choosing this type of cladding, you should carefully treat the wood with water-repellent compounds.

However, even in this case, it will not last as long as in rooms with normal humidity.

Material selection

You can get attractive and high-quality cladding only if you choose the right material. For the interior decoration of rooms, a block house is chosen from both coniferous and deciduous species.

The former contain a large amount of resins and essential oils., which provides a natural antiseptic effect. In addition, they bring the unique scent of the coniferous forest into the house. Usually, spruce is used, which has a large number of knots, which creates an interesting pattern. Pine pleases with an attractive amber-gold hue; a room decorated with such material looks warm and cozy.

When choosing a coniferous block house, it should be remembered that it is not suitable for rooms with high temperatures (bathroom, sauna, steam room), since when the temperature rises, resin is released. It can cause burns when heated.

Hardwood is also popular. It is necessary to choose its varieties that demonstrate strength, resistance to decay, warping. These include oak, aspen, linden.

But it is better to refuse to use birch.

As for the appearance, the block house can imitate a bar or a log. The first in section forms a square, the second - a circle. A block house under a log allows you to imitate the surface of natural log walls and looks very original.

For interior decoration, panels with a width of about 8-10 cm are usually selected, while for exterior cladding - a wider option, that is, 20 cm.However, this is not an obligatory rule, and if necessary, a wide block house can also be chosen for a room ...

The standard length of the material ranges from 2-6 m, it should be selected based on the ease of installation and design features. So, with the help of long and thin light strips, you can visually make the room larger. The cost of the material depends on the length parameter - the longer the bar, the more expensive it is.

As for the thickness of the material, 2 cm will be enough for indoor use.In general, the strips can have a thickness of 2-4.5 cm.

Having decided on the size and appearance of the panels, it is necessary to find out what class they belong to, since this largely determines the quality of the products.

Panels belonging to the "Extra" class are distinguished by premium quality. They have no knots or internal pockets and are cut exclusively from the middle of the trunk. As a rule, such finishing is used in elite premises, and its cost is high.

Class A and B panels demonstrate a fairly high quality. They have a small number of knots, darkening, but at the same time they are suitable for finishing, look neat and noble, have a more affordable price.

There is also a class C material that is not suitable for use as a finishing material.

A high-quality block house on the inside has 2 rip cuts, which are necessary to protect the panels from deformation.

Step-by-step instructions for finishing

For work, you need to prepare the necessary tools and materials. The latter must be immediately purchased in the required quantity (and even with a small stock), since products of different batches may externally differ.

Before using wooden elements, they must be given time to rest in room conditions for 2-3 days, especially if there is a large temperature difference outside the window and in the room.

Before use, wood building materials are usually impregnated with fire retardants and antiseptics to increase their durability. The entire installation process can be divided into stages.

Preparation

The block house is mounted on a wooden crate, which is assembled from bars. The distance between them is 45-50 cm. In this case, during the installation of the frame, measurements should be made regularly - somewhere it is necessary to remove the excess height of the bar, while in other areas a substrate is required. The frame is fastened with self-tapping screws.

The peculiarities of the cladding allow, simultaneously with this process, to insulate the house from the inside. Despite the fact that this method is not recommended by professional builders, sometimes this is the only way to increase the thermal efficiency of an object. In this case, a vapor barrier and insulation are laid between the laths of the lathing.

Self-installation

After completing the installation of the frame, you can proceed to fastening the block house, screws or cleats are used as fasteners.

Previously, holes must be made in the bars corresponding to the entry points and the diameter of the screws.

Correctly mount the block house from above, the first board is placed with the thorn up. It is fastened only with self-tapping screws, and already subsequent panels first snap into place with it, and only then are additionally fixed with self-tapping screws. Thus, all surfaces should be sheathed.

When installing cladding panels with your own hands, it is important to remember the need to leave a 5 mm gap on the edge between the ceiling and the wall, the wall and the floor. These clearances provide ventilation for the system.

The cladding as a whole does not require professional construction skills, because each panel has a tongue-and-groove fastening. First, the panel must be fastened into the corresponding groove (keeping it at an inclination of 45 degrees) of the previous element, and then secured with self-tapping screws.

Despite the seeming lack of variety, there are a great many options for using a block house for various finishing solutions. A competent designer can use the material to implement almost any stylistic version of the interior, from retro to hi-tech, from classic to modern.

There are two main types of block house:

  • imitation of a log (rounded profile);
  • imitation of a bar (trapezoidal or rectangular profile).

The design solution emphasizes one of the main and main advantages of a block house - an excellent combination with other finishing and general construction materials - glass, brick, stone, ordinary clapboard - almost everything that is used in the construction of a house. No less successfully, lamps, forged products and a wide variety of furniture fit into the interior created by imitating timber. In addition, structural elements - beams, pillars - can also be integrated into the overall design solution using wood-like panels.

Skillful design solutions for decorating fireplaces and fireplace halls with block houses have long become classics.

Such "omnivorousness" of the block house further contributes to its popularity and increases the range of applications, which are already wide.

Children's playroom

An example of how the material can be organically applied is a design solution, the result of which is presented in the following photo.

The combination of bright colors of children's toys and flooring with natural and discreet wood-like finishing material creates extraordinary comfort even in this non-residential area. Surely the child is pleased to be in such a "warm" playroom for the eye.

Hall of a country house

Another feature of the material is that there is almost never a lot of it. It is difficult to imagine a situation where the use of a block house would be considered excessive and unnecessary. Rather, on the contrary, it is even more correct to use the material for indoor spaces when the outdoor decoration is also made entirely or partially from it. As a result, a single harmonious style of a country house is created, which cannot be achieved by using different finishing materials for different parts and structural elements of the building.

We must not forget about the root cause of the appearance of the block house. And it was created in order to imitate natural wood in the form of a bar or log. If the task is to get a design in a retro style, the material will perfectly cope with this, both in the dining room and in the living room. However, hi-tech is also possible.

High-tech living room

The warmth and harmony of the interior, containing elements of wood trim, is almost impossible to achieve with any other materials. The combination of simplicity and sophistication, comfort while following the most fashionable trends - all this allows you to bring such seemingly uncomplicated material as a block house into the reality surrounding a person. Almost any room in the house can be successfully "ennobled" by using a block house.

Baths and saunas decoration

In addition to the living rooms of the house, the material is very often used to decorate auxiliary rooms, for example, baths and saunas. It is perfect for both a steam room and a relaxation room or shower room with a pool.

The material is also widely used for interior (as well as exterior) decoration of small free-standing structures - gazebos, verandas and similar structures.

The variety of design solutions in combination with the numerous advantages of the material makes the block house one of the most popular finishing elements for a wide variety of premises and structures.
