Finishing the balcony, installing the ceiling. The ceiling on the balcony from what to make: step-by-step instructions on how to make a ceiling

When arranging a balcony, the ceiling surface must be finished. The main thing is to correctly complete the preliminary process, which involves waterproofing the floor slabs. If this event is ignored, all the work and financial costs will be in vain.

The cladding installation process is not very laborious and does not take much time. When deciding how to decorate the ceiling on a loggia or balcony, you need to remember that this material must correspond to the general style of the room. If finances are limited, you can simply paint the ceiling surface white, which looks familiar and will suit any interior.

Balcony ceiling waterproofing

The waterproofing layer is laid, including on an open-type balcony. If rain moisture begins to seep through the ceiling, it will flow further, get into the facade seams, as a result of which the walls in the room will become wet. The interior will also be damaged.

The easiest way to repair the ceiling is if the residents have a glazed balcony on top. Then it will be enough from the side of your balcony to process the seam between the plate and the wall with silicone sealant. In addition, the surface of the floor slab must be primed with a penetrating hydrophobic agent.

When the balcony located above is not sewn up, it is advisable to talk with the neighbors in order to assess the condition in which the abutment is located. If there are no problems with him, you can do as described above. Otherwise, it will be necessary to put things in order on the neighboring balcony, since the silicone sealant will not withstand the flow of water flowing from above for a long time.

Upper balconies in typical buildings require waterproofing of a concrete slab from both sides - from the bottom and from the top. Most often, their top is insulated with roofing materials at the same time as the roof. This is the job that roofers have to do during the renovation process. In order for a tenant to make insulation, he needs to go down from the roof onto the slab, and this requires obtaining permission from the DEZ.

In any case, the top plate needs waterproofing. The fact is that concrete has a porous structure and therefore moisture penetrates into it without problems, which passes through the slab, drips from the ceiling and renders the finish unusable. The worst thing is that the reinforcement of concrete products undergoes corrosive processes, which can lead to an emergency.

The following materials are used for waterproofing the roof:

  • "Liquid rubber", bituminous mastic;
  • surfaced bitumen waterproofing;
  • PVC membrane.

The latter option is expensive, but more durable than bituminous insulation, for example, the manufacturer gives a 25-year warranty for TechnoNIKOL products.

It will not work to process the slab from above on your own, so you need to contact a company specializing in roof repair. Such organizations have the appropriate specialists and permission to carry out high-altitude work, so there will be no problems with the EEZ, and you will not have to perform risky actions.

Materials for thermal insulation

Often, property owners do not know what to do with the ceiling on the balcony if it is upper and cold. Experts recommend insulating it. The fact is that, according to the laws of physics, warm air always rises upward and therefore significant heat losses occur through the roof. Additionally, heaters perform one more function - soundproofing.

Thermal insulation of balconies is done from the inside - the following materials in slabs and rolls are suitable for this purpose:

  • basalt wool;
  • penoplex;
  • polystyrene and expanded polystyrene;
  • foil-clad PPP.

When using foamed polystyrene foam, it is important to remember that it is attached with the reflective side to the balcony. To install thermal insulation, use the frame method. For the construction of the lathing, wooden bars are used, and for the assembly of the frame - aluminum profiles for fastening drywall sheets.

Before applying any option for finishing the ceiling on the balcony, first mount a membrane or waterproofing film, and then a heater.

If basalt wool is used as a heat insulator, it is covered with a vapor barrier membrane so that condensate does not collect in it. This insulation is hygroscopic and, when wet, can lose more than 50% of its heat-shielding qualities. The membrane is placed with a discharge surface to the insulation, usually it has a rough surface.

Penoplex and expanded polystyrene can be mounted with or without a frame. The boards or sheets of thermal insulation are glued to the concrete slab using appropriate adhesives.

The frame method is better used when, when solving a problem, than closing the ceiling on the balcony, panel cladding is planned. Insulation plates in this case are placed between the slats or beams of the spine. Then cladding panels are attached to the frame elements. An exception is the ceilings made of metal products, which are usually mounted not to the lathing, but with the help of suspensions.

Another, and quick and effective, way to create thermal insulation is the use of liquid polyurethane foam, which is applied by spraying. This material, penetrating into all the cracks, forms an even and absolutely tight insulating layer.

In this case, hydro- and vapor barrier is not done; a spray gun and polyurethane foam will be required. Since the layer is thin, the usable space on the balcony will not decrease. The disadvantage of this method is the high cost and the fact that the material does not breathe. Regardless of the options for finishing the ceiling on a closed balcony, you should equip a ventilation system and high-quality ventilation.

Cladding materials for the ceiling on the balcony

If an insulated balcony is located on top, it is possible not to insulate the floor. Before finishing, it is necessary to prepare the ceiling surface, or rather to prime it with a hydrophobic agent, to putty chips and cracks. When the slab is badly destroyed, work begins with plastering.

In order to perform panel cladding, such preparation will be sufficient. If you plan to paint the ceiling surface, it is necessary to completely putty the slab and wipe it to a smooth surface.

The most popular options for balcony ceilings are their finishes:

  • coloring compositions;
  • wooden clapboard;
  • plastic panels;
  • metal slats;
  • plasterboard sheets;
  • polystyrene foam plates;
  • tension cloth.

Painting

You can paint the ceiling on the balcony with facade paints that are resistant to temperature changes and precipitation. A high-quality coating is created by water-based and acrylic compositions. It is advisable to make the color of the ceiling white or slightly tinted. The pigment is immediately diluted in its entire volume.

It is undesirable to apply paint for the ceiling on the balcony during rainy weather, as streaks will appear. On insulated balconies, coloring compositions are used for interior work, for example, water emulsion. Painting is inexpensive and fits into any interior.

Among the minuses it appears:

  1. The need to carefully prepare the surface.
  2. The paint will not help hide the electrical wiring on the balcony - strobes will be required, which means additional labor costs.

Wooden lining

Thinking about how to decorate the ceiling on the balcony, which is decorated in eco or country style, apartment owners often prefer clapboard cladding, which has a number of advantages:

  • easy installation;
  • the presence of heat and sound insulating qualities;
  • durability;
  • hypoallergenic;
  • neat look;
  • hygiene.

This finishing option is expensive. For the walls, you can use any boards, and for the ceiling surface, it is advisable to purchase a lining with channels that drain condensate.

Plastic panels

The use of plastic is a cheap and easy way of cladding. The panels can be installed on a frame or glued to a concrete surface. If the installation of lighting devices is planned on the ceiling, holes for them should be cut out in the plastic before finishing.

Advantages of a ceiling surface made of plastic panels:

  • can be washed;
  • the coating is not subject to corrosive destruction;
  • during frame installation, the products are easily dismantled;
  • there is no need to prepare a quality base.

If you need to imitate a wooden surface, choose a laminated lining made of plastic with a wood texture, which is much cheaper than natural. When the panels are mounted in a frame manner, you need to ensure that there is enough space between the upper cut of the door and the floor slab to open the balcony.

Metal slats

Rack aluminum ceiling structures are installed on different balconies - cold and warm. Their elements are resistant to changes in temperature and humidity, smart, strong and durable, easy to install. For fastening, a system of suspensions is used, the height of which can be adjusted.

Such a ceiling will be the best addition to a high-tech interior. He has practically no flaws. In addition to rack structures, cellular metal ceilings are also installed on the balconies. Their elements are attached to a suspended frame or hangers. They are used for long balconies, since the panel size is several meters.

Drywall

Ceilings on closed balconies are finished with plasterboard plates. The material is easy to process, provides sound and heat insulation, and has an affordable price. Plates are mounted on a frame, assembled from aluminum profiles, attached with dowels to a concrete slab, and drywall to them with self-tapping screws.

Variants of ceilings on the balcony using gypsum plasterboard are conventional or bunk. In the second case, spotlights are mounted on the lower level along the contour. The holes for them in the sheets of material are prepared in the process of assembling the frame.

This version of the ceiling on the loggia requires additional finishing, for which you can apply:

  • wallpaper, preferably washable;
  • paint;
  • ceramic tiles.

Expanded polystyrene boards

It is possible to use PPP both for thermal insulation and as an independent finishing material. If expanded polystyrene is selected, additional insulation is not required. Since the thickness of the slabs is 3-6 centimeters, it will not significantly affect the height of the balcony.

PPS is mounted with the glue method and additionally attached with dowels. Preliminarily, the floor surface is cleaned, cracks and recesses are closed, and primed. After installing the plates, a reinforcing fiberglass mesh is glued to them and covered with another layer of adhesive.

When it is dry, they carry out the finishing:

  • textured paints or decorative plaster:
  • decorative tiles made of polystyrene foam, which are fixed with glue.

All of the above methods of finishing ceilings have an optimal balance between labor costs, price and quality.

Specialization: Master in the construction of plasterboard structures, finishing works and laying floor coverings. Installation of door and window blocks, decoration of facades, installation of electrical, plumbing and heating - I can give detailed advice on all types of work.

Not sure what to make the ceiling of the balcony out of? I've thought about this before. Now I'm ready to tell you about the simplest options for carrying out the work. All of them can be made independently and do not require expensive equipment and special skills.

Finishing types

We will consider the following options:

  1. Painting or whitewashing;
  2. Plastic panels;
  3. Wooden lining;
  4. Rack ceiling;
  5. Plasterboard construction.

Option 1: painting or whitewashing

The instructions for carrying out the work look like this:

Illustration Description

The surface is cleaned and primed... If there were remnants of the old whitewash on it, then they must be removed completely. The primer is applied with a roller or brush in one layer.

Seams and large irregularities are closed... A special compound with high crack resistance is usually used for seams.

If you need to perfectly level the surface, the entire ceiling is putty... If you do not need to display the plane, then you can skip this stage and immediately apply the primer to create a base for painting.

The surface is painted... I'll tell you how to paint a concrete ceiling correctly: the composition is applied with a roller at least two, or even three times. The surface should have a uniform color over the entire area.

If you don't know how to paint the ceiling on an open balcony, then facade paints are best suited for such cases: they are not afraid of temperature changes and precipitation.

As for whitewashing, it is produced using the same technology. Only instead of paint, a chalk or lime solution is used.

Option 2: plastic panels

One of the most popular options, which has several advantages:

  • Low cost;
  • Light weight of elements;
  • Ease of installation;
  • Ease of maintenance.

The disadvantages are not very attractive appearance and low strength.

Let's figure out how to make a ceiling on a balcony from plastic panels:

  • Treatment. Before the construction of the frame, it is advisable to treat the surface of the ceiling with a water-repellent solution. Additional waterproofing will not hurt, it will also serve as protection against condensation;
  • First of all, the frame is built... It can be made of a metal profile or a wooden bar. The first option is stronger, the second is cheaper. If subsequently a ceiling hanger for linen will be hung on the balcony, then a bar or profile must be installed in the places of its attachment;

  • Insulation is laid in the frame... Insulation is necessary if you have a closed balcony. The easiest way is to use rolled mineral wool, it fills the entire cavity, the minimum material thickness for effective thermal insulation is 5 cm;

You can cover the surface with penofol - a polyethylene foam material with a reflective layer. This option is well suited if there is also a warm balcony above you and no special insulation is needed.

  • PVC panels are attached to the frame... The work is simple: the elements are cut into pieces of the required size and fixed with screws or staples. Thanks to the system of joints, the panels are joined very tightly, and the surface is smooth.

Option 3: wooden lining

Let's find out from what to make the ceiling on the loggia or balcony, if there is a desire to use wood, in particular wooden lining. This is a classic solution, which has not lost its relevance today for the following reasons:

  • The attractiveness of natural wood;
  • Environmental friendliness;
  • Good heat and sound insulation performance.

As for the disadvantages, these are poor resistance to dampness, the need for periodic renewal of the paintwork and the high cost of quality products.

Let's figure out how to make a ceiling from a lining with our own hands:

  • The frame is being built... Most often it is made from a block of wood or plank. There are no special requirements, the main thing is that the structure is flat and leveled;

  • If necessary, the surface is thermally insulated... Whether it is necessary to insulate the structure is up to you. I recommend putting at least Penofol;
  • The lining is attached... The easiest way is to fix it with finishing nails.

Option 4: rack and pinion design

This option is similar to the previous ones, the difference is that special metal slats are used for finishing. The advantages of this type of structure are attractiveness, strength and durability. Among the disadvantages, one can single out the high cost.

Repair in this case is done as follows:

  • The supporting profile is fixed... It is fixed to the ceiling with hangers and leveled. The suspension frame has grooves for quick installation of the rails;

  • The slats are cut and put in place. The work is very simple, because there is no need to fasten the elements, they are inserted into the grooves.

Option 5: plasterboard ceiling

This option is suitable for loggias and insulated balconies. The advantages are the possibility of constructing structures of any complexity and perfect leveling of the surface. Consider how to finish the ceiling on the balcony in this case:

Illustration Description

The frame is being built... Before finishing the ceiling, you need to prepare the base from the profile. The structure is leveled and fixed to the ceiling with hangers.

In order not to think later how to fix a heavy object on the ceiling, remember where the profile is located or make marks with a pencil on the window frame.

The structure is insulated... It's simple: fill the cavity above the frame as shown in the photo. The main thing is that the entire surface is densely filled, and there are no gaps between the sheets.

Drywall is attached... The work is done with a screwdriver and self-tapping screws.

Surface finishing in progress... Plasterboard ceiling can be putty and painted, or decorative plaster can be applied.

On the balcony, use moisture-resistant putty compounds, since even if it is insulated, the humidity drops will still be greater than in living quarters.

Output

Now you know how to decorate the ceiling on the balcony. The video in this article will help you even better understand the individual options, and if you need to clarify some nuance, ask in the comments.

The presence of a balcony in a city apartment has always been considered an additional bonus, not to mention improved-layout apartments equipped with loggias. Having additional space in cramped living conditions has always been considered a plus. However, in most cases, the balcony in the apartment turns into an ordinary smoking room or into another closet. It will take a lot of effort so that the balcony square meters turn into a cozy and comfortable addition to the apartment, and the loggia becomes a full-fledged part of the living space. First of all, it is necessary not only to install the balcony frame, but to insulate the ceilings, to bring other structural elements into proper form.

How to choose a finishing option for a balcony or for a loggia, what kind of ceiling can be on a balcony, we will deal with these and other questions on this topic in more detail.

Why is the decoration of the ceiling on the balcony so important?

The task of re-equipping the balcony space usually comes to the fore right after the main repair work has been completed in the apartment. This is typical for new housing, but often tenants of apartments in old buildings come to such a decision on their own. There are a lot of reasons for such a step. A well-made balcony, insulated and equipped with a double-glazed unit, significantly increases the thermal efficiency of the apartment. In addition, it is much more pleasant to be on a tidy and equipped balcony.

With aesthetics, everything is more, less clear, but with the manufacturability of a closed balcony, everything is much more complicated. For small apartments, the presence of a large balcony is not uncommon. Having a large open balcony when the inhabitants of the apartment have to huddle in cramped conditions is an unaffordable luxury. The situation is similar with loggias. If you approach this issue wisely, balconies can increase the usable area in your own apartment by almost one third. It will also be quite appropriate to make a ceiling on the loggia if you include this element of the apartment in the general internal layout.

On a note: in modern new buildings, architects often include loggias in the area of a residential building, however, in terms of equipment and habitability, this option is of little use.

It should not be forgotten that an open balcony structure is constantly exposed to intense atmospheric factors. Rain, snow, low temperatures quickly render the main structural elements unusable. Floor panels begin to collapse, the fencing frame rusts. The closed ceiling on the balcony completely excludes these processes for the future, keeping not only the concrete panels intact and safe, but also keeping the precious heat on the balcony.

With the help of simple technologies, skills and a certain amount of building material, today you can make a real example of apartment design. Sheathing outside, insulating and making the ceiling on the balcony with your own hands is a task that anyone who has an elementary idea of finishing work can do.

Of course, you can hire craftsmen and professionals for such purposes, but then you will have to spend a lot. Insulating a balcony or loggia on your own, properly mounting ceilings on the balcony ceiling will give you significant savings.

We start finishing the ceilings on the balcony. What will you have to face

The beginning of any large-scale event in construction and in finishing work in particular, is preceded by a thorough preparation. Preparatory work includes drawing up a working sketch, direct preparation of the object itself.

Preparatory work

In the end, for the balcony, it is not so much the external data of the interior decoration that is important as the achieved result. It is a mistake to believe that by placing the balcony frame and sewing the balcony ceiling with plastic or clapboard, you have solved the problem. It will be necessary to carry out a number of additional measures in terms of preparing the base surface, creating a layer of waterproofing and subsequent insulation of the ceiling, panels and floor.

In order for everything to be done correctly, you should start with the preparation of the base surface. Having sewn up the balcony from the outside, try to carefully seal up all the cracks and holes, preventing the penetration of outside air inside. It is especially worth paying attention to the places where the balcony frame adjoins to the concrete floor. Usually, it is in this place that large gaps and cracks appear.

After examining the interior space and the ceiling, including the degree of security, proceed with the preparation of the floor for subsequent work. Dust, dirt and paint residues must be removed from the concrete surface. For better adhesion to the insulation, the surface can be leveled with mastic or finishing plaster.

For reference: when installing suspended structures on balcony ceilings, you should not spend a lot of time leveling the surface. All flaws will be hidden by false ceilings.

Choice of materials and finishes

Methods for finishing ceiling structures depend on what hopes you place on the newly created space. It depends on your desires and financial capabilities whether the balcony will be warm and cozy, whether your loggia will become a pleasant addition to the apartment. There are not as many options as it seems. Among the most common, we will focus on the following:

  • wooden lining;
  • plastic panels (lining, tiles);
  • rack ceilings;
  • drywall;
  • tension structures;
  • cassette ceiling structures of the Armstrong system.

Each of the finishing options is interesting in its own way, however, repair work on your balcony will significantly increase the cost. From, it's up to you. Experts and craftsmen suggest from all the existing options, pay attention to plastic panels. This option is the most economical and convenient in terms of manufacturability.

Plastic panels are available today in various designs. Expanded polystyrene tiles are also used for finishing the ceiling surfaces in the loggias and on the balcony. Due to the decorative pattern and ease of installation, the necessary integrity of the ceiling part is achieved and the necessary aesthetics of the appearance is provided. In some cases, plastic tiles can be considered as one of the elements of the insulation system.

For reference: the use of ceiling tiles as the main coating excludes the possibility of installing lighting equipment on the ceiling.

Wooden lining and slatted ceilings are always stylish and beautiful, but in this case the price of materials plays a role. To decorate large balconies, using such a large solid wood on the ceiling is an expensive pleasure. Such options are best suited for loggias where heating is present and aesthetics of appearance is important.

Single-level ceilings made of plasterboard can also be one of the options for cladding ceiling surfaces. Here it is necessary to remember to use only moisture-resistant cardboard for work. The suspended structure will allow you to reliably insulate the ceiling and, if desired, provide an opportunity for the installation of lighting fixtures. This finishing method is very convenient for large loggias. Typically, such designs are carried out in a single key, corresponding to the design of the entire apartment.

Note: Speaking specifically about all the options for finishing the ceilings on the balcony, you may encounter the following phenomena:

  • polystyrene foam tiles often fall off due to a sharp change in temperature;
  • the plastered ceiling surface can crack for various reasons;
  • the use of MDF panels leads to the fact that, due to the formed condensate, the ceilings become limp and lose their functionality;
  • Plasterboard ceilings swell for the same reason.

The classic finishing option, cheap and practical, is to use rack structures on the ceiling for the installation of plastic panels. The affordable price of the material, the practicality of plastic ceilings in operation and durability play into the hands here.

Insulation of ceilings

Some craftsmen neglect the ceiling, believing that in this case, you can get by with the installation of a conventional decorative coating.

The concrete slab and ceiling on your loggia are natural coolers due to the physical nature of the concrete structure. Leaving the concrete uninsulated means putting all your work on the conversion of the balcony space into a habitable room into question. It is unwise to have such a large cold surface on a closed balcony.

For reference: a concrete floor panel at low temperatures freezes to a depth of 50-70 mm for 5-7 days, with a standard slab thickness of 150 mm. Accordingly, the temperature of the panel on the inside is slightly higher than the temperature of the outside air.

Waterproofing on a balcony ceiling is usually done using a coating or penetrating compound to remove mold and mildew. Further, materials are put into work, which plays the role of insulation. The easiest option is to use folgoizolone. This is a relatively new type of insulation, which has a thickness of 4 mm. It can be successfully used both as an insulating material and as a heater.

The use of traditional technologies is based on the use of well-known materials for these purposes. The choice in favor of this or that material depends on the values of the thermal conductivity coefficient. The higher the latter, the better the effect achieved. The most common insulation used to work with ceilings on a balcony, foamed or extruded polystyrene foam, is polystyrene foam. Durability and easy installation are the main advantages of this material. Such insulation is suitable for frameless ceiling structures.

Mineral wool is often used for these purposes. Suspended structures, slatted ceilings or plasterboard finishes are perfectly combined with mineral wool insulation technology.

Finishing works

What is the best ceiling to make on the balcony, overhead or suspended, depends on the volume of the internal space. Usually for small balconies, where every cubic centimeter is precious, overhead structures are used. Insulation and finishing panels are stacked on top of each other in a specific sequence. First, insulation is laid on the glue, and then plastic panels or polystyrene foam tiles are mounted on the prepared ceiling surface using wooden slats.

Suspension systems are suitable for loggias. In this case, the ceilings on the balcony are an important functional element of the living space. Here you can talk about high-quality insulation of ceiling structures, the ability to install additional lighting sources. The beautiful and original design of the ceilings on the loggias is an important component in favor of such a choice.

Conclusion

How to make a ceiling if you have limited finances, or you are embarrassed by the size of the balcony - the answer is simple. Start from the possibilities available. In any case, if you adhere to technology and use the right materials, you can get high-quality and beautiful finishing of ceilings on your balcony. Don't skimp on waterproofing. A strong frame is a prerequisite for the installation of suspended structures. In order for the ceilings on your balcony and in the loggia to serve for a long time, the materials must be convenient and accessible for cleaning. The easier it is to clean ceiling surfaces, the better for you.

Everyone who lives in a city apartment knows the desire to have a cozy and comfortable corner not to the detriment of living space. And many, for this purpose, decide to make an additional room from a balcony or loggia. Some equip an office on the balcony, others install a bed, and there is also an option to install a mini-sauna. There are many options for how to use these square meters. But first of all, you should create a cozy and comfortable environment in this room. Therefore, in this article, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with how to make a ceiling on a balcony with your own hands. So, you can save money by not hiring craftsmen, but by doing all the work yourself.

The first thing to do is to insulate the ceiling. But first, you should carry out its waterproofing. There are many special materials that can be used to complete this stage of work. For example, you can use liquid rubber or secure roll material.

With regard to insulation, the choice will depend on the finishing material. For example, it can be mineral wool, foam and other insulation. Let's take a closer look at the process of ceiling insulation with mineral wool and polyurethane foam plates.

This material is the most affordable of all heaters. Moreover, its installation is quite simple to perform independently.

  • On the ceiling, you build a frame or stuff the slats with a certain step. It is desirable that their height is 2 times the width of the cotton wool.
  • Next, cut the rolled mineral wool into the necessary pieces and insert it between the crate.
  • Be sure to lay a plastic wrap between the ceiling and the cotton wool, which will serve as waterproofing.
  • This stage of work should be done slowly. All corners and crevices must be filled with insulation and protected from moisture penetration.
  • After that, the installation of the finishing ceiling is immediately carried out. Alternatively, you can stuff the slats across, but this is how useful centimeters of the balcony's height are eaten.

Polyurethane foam boards are also a common material for insulating a ceiling on a balcony. For their installation, it is necessary to cut the slabs to the required dimensions. After that, each slab should be treated with glue and glued to the ceiling. Instead of this glue, you can use plastic dowels as an attachment. Joints can be filled with polyurethane foam. When it is dry, carefully cut off the remaining foam and the ceiling is ready for further finishing.

Now is the time to consider options for finishing the ceiling with different materials.

This material is budgetary, as it has a relatively low price. They can only be glued to the insulated ceiling. To work, you need the following:

  • dye;
  • construction knife;
  • roulette;
  • spatula;
  • putty;
  • acrylic paint;
  • adhesive for polystyrene tiles;
  • polystyrene ceiling plinth.

Considering the fact that the material will be glued directly to the ceiling, its surface should be flat. In this case, it is best to use polyurethane foam plates as a heater. The ceiling can be pre-leveled.

The process of gluing tiles itself is as follows:

  • Determine the center of the balcony ceiling. To do this, pull two diagonals and put a mark at the intersection of the ropes.
  • After that, draw the axes perpendicularly through the center. Their ends will be in the middle of the side walls. This will serve as a guide for gluing the tiles.
  • It is necessary to start gluing from the center along the marked axis.
  • It is not necessary to apply the glue to the tiles as a continuous piece. You can put several points, for example, at the corners and in the center.
  • In the process of gluing, the tiles must be gently pressed and held for two minutes for the glue to set.

When gluing polystyrene tiles, it is advisable to avoid drafts. The glue should dry in the most natural environment possible.

When the gluing is over and the glue is dry, you can start gluing the ceiling plinth. It is glued with the same glue. Finally, the ceiling and skirting boards are painted in the desired color.

MDF panels can compete on equal terms with other finishing materials. They are durable, economical and come in a variety of colors. Due to this, they can be adapted to any interior style chosen for the balcony.

The panels are not devoid of positive technical characteristics. For installation on a loggia or balcony, MDF boards are best suited, since they are distinguished by a high degree of moisture resistance. As for the method of their fastening, a rack frame is usually made of wood or aluminum profile.

Lining made of wood will preserve an excellent indoor climate. Such a finish will keep the moisture in the norm and, in addition, it will look beautiful and organic.

Provided that the wooden lining is treated with special compounds, it will last for many years, as it will be protected from rotting and the appearance of mold.

The material can be mounted both on an aluminum profile and on a wooden frame. To give the interior originality, the direction of the planks can be changed, as well as several levels can be made. Accordingly, this will affect the peculiarity of the frame construction.

So, to work you need the following tool:

  • ladder;
  • pencil;
  • roulette;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • level;
  • drill / screwdriver.

Also buy this material:

  • lathing bars:
  • wooden plinth;
  • nails 40-50 mm;
  • lining.

  1. The first step is to make the crate from wooden blocks.
  2. The lathing pitch can vary from 400 to 600 mm.
  3. The lathing is installed strictly according to the level and in the same plane. To do this, place two bars along the edges of the balcony in level and pull the rope between them. As a result, all the remaining bars of the frame will be exposed along the taut rope.
  4. After making the frame, you insulate the ceiling.
  5. Then you can sew up the ceiling with clapboard.
  6. Nail the panels with nails to the edge. Each subsequent plank should cover the head of the carnation.
  7. When the ceiling is completely sewn up, nail a plinth around the entire perimeter of the ceiling, which will hide the corner and give the structure a finished look.

By following a simple workflow, you can get the job done in a short amount of time by making a ceiling from wood lining panels.

A plastic ceiling is almost the most economical method of finishing a ceiling on a balcony. Due to its technical characteristics, plastic lining is excellent for balconies. Even if the ceiling is not insulated, moisture and dampness does not threaten it. Considering the low weight of each lamella, its installation, which includes the manufacture of a lightweight frame, is quite simple. For the frame, you can also use wooden blocks or aluminum profiles.

As practice shows, it is better to choose an aluminum profile for the frame of suspended ceilings. The tree may dry out over time, due to which it will lose its original technical characteristics.

To work, you will need the following material and tools:

  • ladder;
  • roulette;
  • jigsaw / hacksaw for metal;
  • hammer;
  • ceiling plastic skirting board;
  • stapler / staples or studs (if the frame is made of a profile, then self-tapping screws);
  • timber or profile for the frame;
  • level;
  • panels.

The work itself looks like this:

  1. Make a frame according to the level.
  2. As in the previous case, the ceiling is insulated.
  3. There are two ways to fix the panels. Install a plastic ceiling plinth around the perimeter. Then measure and cut the panels to the required size. The panel is simply inserted into the guide, and in the middle it is fixed with a self-tapping screw to the crate. Another option is to install all panels and then fix the ceiling molding / molding.
  4. When joining the panel, make sure that the seam has no gaps. If the model provides for the presence of a small gap, it should be the same everywhere, if not, then the ceiling should turn out to be seamless.

As you can see, the process of installing plastic panels is very simple.

Using drywall is also considered a budget option. For its installation on the balcony, it is recommended to use a moisture-resistant gypsum board, which is painted green. The technology for installing such a ceiling is as follows:

  • The lighting is pre-wired.
  • Next, the installation of the lathing under the drywall is carried out. For this, you can use both wooden slats and a metal profile.
  • First of all, the UD profile is attached to the wall along the entire perimeter of the ceiling. But before that, you need to set it strictly in level.
  • The CD cross members can then be attached. They are inserted into the UD profile. The cross-section pitch can vary from 400 to 600 mm.
  • The lathing is mounted so that after that it was possible to install lighting fixtures without hindrance.
  • If the width of the ceiling is small, then it is not necessary to attach additional suspensions. But for greater strength, it is better to install the hangers in the middle of the transverse CD profile.
  • Now it's time to fix the drywall. To do this, cut off such pieces of the sheet so that the joint is necessarily on the transverse profile.
  • Fastening of drywall is carried out with self-tapping screws 40 mm. The screw cap should be slightly recessed into the drywall. In order not to break through the gypsum board with a self-tapping screw, it is recommended to use a special cue ball, which has a limiter for the depth of penetration of the cap.
  • Each joint of drywall is processed with a reinforcing mesh and putty.
  • If desired, drywall can be completely putty. Then the ceiling is sanded, primed and painted.
  • Now the ceiling plinth is glued around the entire perimeter.

One of the most modern technologies for processing a ceiling is a stretch ceiling. Since the ceiling area on the balcony is small, you can install it yourself, without calling a specialist.

The advantage of a stretch fabric is that you can place any photograph or image on it. This will be a great addition to the interior.

So, for work, you need a special device - a cannon. If you have all the necessary equipment, then you can get to work, which looks like this:

  • Along the perimeter of the ceiling to the wall, fix the guide profile, strictly horizontally. In this case, it is advised to immediately purchase a profile-baguette.
  • Before unrolling the canvas, turn on the cannon indoors. The temperature should reach up to 40 ° C. And only then can the film be unwound.
  • When working, it is important to ensure that the film does not get too close to the gun throat.
  • The film itself is attached to the guide. Start installation from the corner that you marked as the base. Then fix the diagonally opposite corner. The remaining 2 corners are attached in the same sequence.
  • Using a special spatula, insert the side edges of the film into the baguette profile. The direction of attachment should be from the corner to the middle.
  • When the entire film is in the profile, make sure that there are no places where it could sag.
  • Now heat the installed material until the air warms up to 50 ° C. After heating, you can stop.

Another simple method of installing a stretch ceiling is to purchase a PVC film with a special harpoon that is welded to the edge. Its installation is carried out strictly according to the attached instructions.

Well, the last method of finishing the ceiling on the balcony is to paint it. To do this, a number of painting works should be performed, which include leveling the ceiling, puttying, sanding and painting. It is better to buy a ready-made facade putty in a bucket. This also applies to paint. Ceiling painting is carried out using a roller. It is recommended to cover the ceiling with paint in 2 or 3 layers. Each layer must dry thoroughly. This technology is the simplest and requires a small set of tools and materials:

  • putty;
  • facade paint;
  • primer;
  • roller;
  • putty knife;
  • brush.
