Entrance door slopes from mdf panels. Decorating window slopes with MDF panels

Pros of the solution

Having chosen this material for cladding the wall adjacent to the block, you can:

hide the flaws of the installation, without which the most accurate work cannot do;

put the door portal in order in a short time - plaster, drywall and other building materials require much more time and effort than the slopes on the MDF door;

increase the level of heat and sound insulation of the entrance area;

to give the opening a harmonious look. Since modern metal structures, as a rule, are decorated "like a tree", finishing MDF slopes is most appropriate.

Portal design by specialists

Finishing the slopes of MDF doors is one of the activities of the Jaguar-M company. Service employees who are proficient in such work will quickly and professionally improve the entrance area, providing:

an individual approach to each client - finishing of slopes with MDF panels will be performed depending on the color design and style of the entrance and interior blocks;

perfect appearance of the cladding without the slightest damage, protruding screws, uneven joints and other defects that can negatively affect the appearance of the opening;

high quality of work when handling panels of any modifications.

Qualified finishing of MDF slopes of the entrance door is accompanied by a guarantee.

Why MDF?

Synthetic material is a more affordable alternative to natural wood.

Choosing door slopes from MDF, you do not risk the health of the most vulnerable family members - unlike chipboard, such a plate is completely safe.

Such cladding is considered to be very practical, due to the homogeneous structure and strength of the material.

During operation, the panels do not warp, swell, or crack.

You can buy MDF slopes with different milling options. Like wood, artificial board is suitable for embossing.

Resistant to microorganisms, MDF panels for door slopes do not rot or mold.

You can install such decorative elements on openings of any large size.

Types of cladding

Finishing MDF door slopes can be done using several topcoats:

laminate ... For such products, the price is usually low;

vandal-proof plastic ... A practical and durable decor option;

veneer ... Veneered panels are worth buying if the facade of the canvas is finished in the same way.

MDF is one of the most popular materials used for decoration. Such panels look very representative and also suit any style. They are very often used for finishing a doorway. Let's take a closer look at how to make slopes on the front door from MDF with your own hands.

MDF slopes - a popular option for finishing a doorway

Material features

For completion, a prerequisite is the removal of even and neat slopes. Often, the owners decide to do everything with their own hands. For these purposes, a wide variety of materials are used, one of the popular options is MDF.

MDF slopes can be used for entrance doors in almost any interior. This material has a number of positive qualities:

  • Strength. Not afraid of moderate blows and most damage.
  • Decorativeness. Looks great, brings an atmosphere of comfort and style.
  • Variety of coatings. It may differ in color and type of top layer: veneer, eco-veneer, PVC, etc.
  • Ease of installation. Easy to handle and install with your own hands, even for a beginner.
  • Imitation wood. The coating mainly imitates a woody texture, it can look like an expensive species.
  • Soundproofing. Provides additional protection against external noise.

The main advantages of MDF panels are considered their strength and ease of installation.

It should be borne in mind that under unfavorable operating conditions, in particular high humidity, as well as when using low-quality material, MDF can climb over time, swell and delaminate. Also, the coating does not withstand strong shocks and contact with sharp objects.

Insulation of the opening and preparation

The first thing to start with is the preparation of the opening itself. Doing it yourself is very simple. First you need to free the opening from all that is superfluous, in particular, and from the remnants of construction debris. If you are afraid to stain or damage the new door, you can leave a protective film on it or completely remove the canvas for the duration of the work.

First of all, remove dust and seal all cracks with polyurethane foam or sealant. Then you need to take care of applying an antiseptic impregnation or primer. To further isolate the opening from the cold and noise outside the apartment, a layer of insulation should be laid along the slopes. Most often used as such a substrate:

  • mineral wool;
  • isolon;
  • synthetic winterizer;
  • polyurethane foam;
  • foamed polystyrene.

Correct finishing of the slopes of the entrance door involves a layer of insulation

An excellent option is the spraying of insulation, but this is a very costly event. To facilitate further cladding and final sealing of the gaps, it is recommended to perform. A small layer will be enough, it is not necessary to display a perfectly flat surface. Special corner profiles are installed in the corners, this will not only facilitate the task of leveling, but also strengthen such a vulnerable part of the slopes.

Marking and cutting

An equally important stage in the process of finishing door slopes than the preparation and installation itself is cutting the necessary fragments. In order to take measurements as accurately as possible, one tape measure will not be enough. Use a square and templates to create original patterns.

You need to start with the bar that you plan to fix in the first place. This is usually the top panel. Please note that in most cases, the edges of the slopes are not even cut, but go slightly at an angle. All this should be displayed on the MDF as well. Subsequent elements must be applied after installing the start panel. That is why the process of marking and cutting is combined with the installation.

Cutting MDF panels should start from the top bar

You can cut MDF using a hacksaw, a saw, but a jigsaw is considered the best option. Due to its cutting element, it is possible to obtain a perfect cut without chips and burrs. Plus, you don't need to make any effort.

When working with sidewalls, be sure to take into account the presence of a threshold. This is an important point as it can significantly affect the height of the side planks.

Installation of panels

In order to install door slopes in the opening with your own hands, you need to complete several stages of work:

  1. First you need to decide on the method of attachment. If the panels do not have a locking connection, the easiest way is to fix them to the frame. As the latter, aluminum profiles or wooden strips can be used, which is more preferable.
  2. Determine the level at which the trim will be placed. In this case, it is important to take into account the thickness of the panels themselves, since with excessive protrusion of the material in the opening, the movement of the door leaf may be difficult.
  3. The frame is fixed to the wall with bolts. You will also need a drill for this. From the inside, you can fix the strip on the door frame itself. There is also an alternative to a wooden frame - special guides that are installed at the corners of the opening. This option is suitable for mounting L-shaped panels.
  4. After the frame is fixed, MDF panels are applied to it and all excess is cut off. You can first fix the top bar, and then proceed to the sidewalls, or do the opposite. MDF can be glued to wooden planks with liquid nails or nailed. In the latter case, small nails without heads are used.

Examples of finishing the slopes of entrance doors with MDF panels

In order to eliminate drafts, additionally insulate the slopes and provide a stronger adhesion, polyurethane foam is used. It is important not to smear the MDF in the foaming process, as it will not be easy to clean.

Final finishing

After the polyurethane foam dries out and the glue sets, you can proceed to the final finishing. First of all, it is necessary to cut off all the protruding sections of the foam around the edges. This is best done with a paint knife. In order for the foam not to collapse under the influence of the external environment, it must be carefully putty. In order not to smear new slopes, glue them with masking tape.

The final stage in the installation of slopes is the installation of platbands

To give the doorway an ideal appearance, platbands are installed over the sealed slots on the slopes. The last step is masking the joints. If you used nails, then you need to use special mastic to match the finish or furniture stickers.

Thus, you can effortlessly install slopes for entrance doors, both from MDF and other similar material. Everyone can do everything with their own hands, since available materials and the simplest technologies are used for work.

When the repair and installation of the front door is completed, the doorway near it often looks unsightly, which can spoil the feeling of joy after the completion of the repair. In addition, unfinished edges allow drafts to penetrate and lower the room temperature. Therefore, it is very important to correctly make and arrange door slopes in order to prevent the influence of all these negative factors.

Peculiarities

When the doors are already installed in the apartment, many people think that protection from external factors such as noise and cold is provided. But it is not so. Additional finishing is required in order to complete the renovation and give the doorway a harmonious appearance. From the outside, the entrance doors are always trimmed with platbands or a special solution during installation, but the internal slopes of the master during the installation of the door frame are always left to the discretion of the owners of the house.

The finishing of the slopes is not included in the installation of the door. That is why concrete, brick or other materials without external finishing are visible in front of our eyes. To hide all this, it is necessary to correctly arrange the slopes. Not all companies that install doors provide additional services for the design of slopes. That is why this task is very often shifted onto the shoulders of the owner of the house, and he has to do this work on his own.

The purpose of the installation of this element is to give an elegant appearance to the door and doorway, as well as to give completeness to its outlines.

In addition, door slopes are installed in order to hide all door fasteners from prying eyes and increase burglary protection. In addition, with their help, they provide heat and sound insulation, as well as protection from dust and dirt flying from the street or from the staircase.

Slopes are a very important and necessary element, which can make the doorway more presentable and tidy. They are a beautiful addition to any hallway. The slopes are designed in accordance with the style of the entrance door, as well as in accordance with its color scheme and with the stylistic design of the hallway. That is why choosing the right slopes is a very important task.

Apart from the decorative function, the slopes also very effectively insulate the door frame and allow you to hide the joints between the frame and the wall. Slopes also hide polyurethane foam. Thus, this element also makes it possible to additionally perform the role of thermal insulation. The polyurethane foam, located in plain sight in the room, absorbs moisture and loses its protective properties, and at the same time it looks very neat.

Thus, the door slope is a very important element that is paid attention to during the renovation.

Views

There are three main systems of slopes for door structures, differing in the method of installation:

  • Applying cement to the wall and then plastering. This finishing system is considered the most reliable and quite cheap. But not everyone can cope with such a task, it is a very time-consuming and painstaking process. In order to create very smooth and high-quality surfaces, it is necessary to have the skills to prepare the correct plaster and experience in its even application and distribution.

  • Slope design system using panels and special glue. In this case, an adhesive mixture is made and ready-made finishing panels are applied to it. This principle is quite costly. In another way, it is called wet.

This process is very time-consuming, as each layer of glue must dry well before you apply the next layer. But even with the long duration of such work, they are quite simple and even a beginner in the installation business can cope with them.

Fastening the finish to the already finished frame. This is a very simple and quick way to achieve perfectly shaped and very neat door slopes. So you can not only hide a concrete wall, bricks and foam from prying eyes, but also close all wires and other communication networks.

In addition, you can independently install additional lighting devices in the door frame and play beautifully with the light in this area of the room. This option is suitable for both panel apartments and a private house.

The only drawback of this method is the low strength and susceptibility of finishing materials, even on a steel frame, to mechanical stress. Thus, this option will be more susceptible to hacking. As a rule, it is used for interior decoration of wooden door structures.

Materials (edit)

For the design of slopes, high-quality and stable finishing materials are very often used.

Dye

This is one of the most popular coatings, which allows you to design a door slope very brightly and interestingly. You can make it an interesting accent in your hallway. In addition, you can choose the paint and the color of the door. In this way, even a metal door can be designed. You can buy water-based paint or use the usual version. In addition, you can apply a beautiful textured pattern that will look very original and will decorate any hallway.

Wallpaper

This is an excellent solution for those who decided not only to change the door in the hallway, but also to completely renovate the hallway. It is quite simple to decorate the door slope with wallpaper, but this requires an even base. Very often, the same wallpaper is used on the walls as on the slopes. This gives the impression of a monolithic surface. Thus, you can visually expand the doorway and the hallway space as a whole.

Single sided sandwich panels

These panels are a sheet of polymer plastic, on which a layer of extruded polystyrene foam is glued. It has a fairly dense texture, which has excellent sound insulation properties and acts as great option for insulation. Thus, you will not need to additionally insulate the doors and take special measures for noise insulation.

Such panels are very lightweight and therefore adhere well to the door even with special glue without additional fasteners. In addition, their design can be very diverse, there are even models for wood and products that imitate other materials and surfaces.

Plastic panels

This is a fairly easy-to-install option, which has an interesting decor. Plastic panels are somewhat similar to the previous version, but at the same time they are less reliable and thinner. If the slopes are deep, then plastic laying is not recommended.... This is due to the fact that it can be easily deformed and damaged. Plastic panels will not give the same rigidity along the entire door slope. But their undoubted advantage is an interesting and varied design.

Among the plastic options, vinyl panels are very popular. They are pretty reliable. In addition, if this element of the door structure is sheathed with vinyl, it will respond well to temperature changes and air humidity levels, which is typical for areas near the front door. Therefore, they are often used for sheathing slopes.

MDF

It is a very durable material that is resistant to external influences. It perfectly withstands various influences and virtually no scratches and other point damage remain on its surface. Outwardly, this material is similar to wood panels, so it looks very elegant. In addition, MDF is very easy to install and can be installed on almost any door slope. These models look best on wooden products., but there are also models for metal doors.

Parquet board

This natural quality material is perfect for the decoration of door slopes. Usually it is chosen to match wooden doors or the color of the flooring. It is important to choose the most appropriate tone, texture and relief. Thus, this composition will look very nice and harmonious. Manufacturers present a huge number of types of parquet boards that can outwardly match any wooden door, models under wenge are especially beautiful.

Laminate

Another option that is great for finishing slopes. It can imitate a door pattern, so it is perfect for models made from natural materials. They can repeat the pattern of any other materials, including the look of stone, marble and other finishes. Thus, it can be matched to almost any type of door leaf.

Since laminate is often used as a flooring, it is distinguished by its strength and endurance, so the slopes will last for a very long time.

But there are also a number of materials that are used to insulate the door frame. For this, polystyrene, penoizol, metvata, and other materials are used. But in the case when the width of the slopes is small, it is quite difficult to make insulation, therefore sandwich panels are perfect. Frame slopes are often used to decorate wide doorways. When installing thin sheets, such as plastic panels, insulation is often used - polyurethane foam, sealant and other materials, acting as a heat barrier.

Which drywall should you use?

Any drywall is a layer of gypsum between two strong cardboard sheets. This is one of the easiest materials to install. They allow you to level surfaces without putty and primer. Even a beginner in this business can handle the installation of drywall sheets.

In addition, such a design of the slopes allows you to get rid of excess debris that could arise when using a different finishing method. At the same time, the slopes are ideally smooth and even, which gives room for imagination and their further design.

For the design of the slopes at the front door, it is important to take not standard models, but materials that differ in quality and water resistance. It withstands well the rise in air humidity inherent in the hallway. To ensure greater safety, it is better to give preference to sheets with the addition of fiberglass, since such material is non-combustible and provides insulation of the entrance structure.

How to patch up for metal sheet?

For finishing the slopes at the metal entrance door, the frame method is most often used. To create a base, you must use metal profiles. Finishing with wooden beams is also acceptable. It is important that the canvas adheres tightly to the surface.

To strengthen the metal door frame, the lintels must be installed on the supporting part of the structure. It is especially important to install them at the corners of the structure. At this stage, you can carry out the laying of cables and other wires. After that, it is necessary to fix the selected canvas with self-tapping screws or nails.

It is also very popular to seal the slopes of metal doors with a cement-sand slope. But for this it is necessary to level all the slopes with a primer and place an emphasis on the subsequent installation of finishing materials. For metal construction it is important to take into account the thickness of the mortar layer and the thickness of the finishing material so that such a finish is not too massive and does not disturb the overall picture of the door structure.

For sealing slopes near a metal door, drywall is perfect. This is due to its small thickness and versatility. But this material requires additional insulation.

Finish after installation

After installing the door, it is important to correctly arrange the slopes in order to improve the appearance of the entrance to the house as a whole. This can be easily done with your own hands, the main thing is to correctly align the door slopes from the inside. A very interesting finishing option after installing the doors is the use of add-ons. You can also use the following options.

Natural or artificial stone

This is a rather elegant and beautiful option that plays a decorative role. It is quite expensive, especially when it comes to natural stone. This method has many advantages, since the material is considered to be very durable and of high quality. Natural stone is a completely environmentally friendly option that is resistant to external mechanical stress.

But cheaper artificial stone is not of the same quality. It has a large number of disadvantages, since it is made on a gypsum base. It is easily damaged and crumpled. In addition, it can easily crumble or deform from exposure to water or high humidity.

Tile

This method of finishing after installing the door is rather complicated. Not all tile options can be used for this. In particular, it is best to avoid using glazed models, as they will look very strange and cheap on door slopes. It is best to give preference to clinker tiles.

This option can imitate brickwork or natural stone. Therefore, it can be selected for any hallway in terms of stylistic design. It is best to choose not very easily soiled and not glossy tiles. This finishing option is good because these surfaces are quite easy to care for. In addition, manufacturers present a wide variety of finishing models.

PVC panels

A very simple decoration material that is cheap, beautiful, but short-lived. Some low-quality models can be easily pierced, even by leaning on them with an elbow or hitting them with a hard foot.

Decorative plaster

This is a very interesting, but rather laborious installation option. The application of decorative plaster is a whole art, so it is better to entrust this process to professionals. But in the end, the slopes and the space near the door can be noticeably transformed.

All finishing methods are used both individually and in combination with each other. So you can not only beautifully design the door structure and slopes, but also make the door more reliable, insulate and protect it from external factors and from breaking.

Installation and design options

There are two main options for installing slopes:

  • frameless;
  • wireframe.

Before moving on to finishing, you need to make sure that the structure is installed correctly, that the exact parallel between the opposite borders of the door frame is observed and that all seams are tight. First of all, it is necessary to check the structure for gaps. To do this, you need to light a match or a candle and hold it along the entire doorway. Where the flame begins to deviate or even go out, it is necessary to additionally insulate the slopes and add a sealant.

When all the insulation work has been completed, you need to cut off the excess dried layer of polyurethane foam and additionally close the door frame with masking tape. After that it is important to get rid of old plaster and loose concrete and brick wall elements.

After that, you need to move on to plastering. First, you need to completely clean the wall from construction dust and level it. Then you need to use a deep penetration primer. It will make the base of the frame more durable and even.

It is very important to pay special attention to the concrete lintel on the door. For its processing, it is better to use the so-called concrete contact.

If the surface does not absorb moisture well, then you must also use a special primer. After the primer is dry, the profiles will need to be installed. But before that, it is better to wait about 8 hours until it dries completely. Profiles are necessary in order to level the plaster layers on all slopes.

To do this, it is necessary to mark the position of the vertical line about 3-4 cm on the side of the door with a laser or the simplest level. There it is necessary to drill several holes with a diameter of 6 mm in increments of 30 cm. Dowels are inserted into the holes, and then the level of their caps is leveled with twine. After installing all these items it is necessary to check their correctness and level vertical. By the same principle, it is necessary to install the profile on top and on the opposite side of the doorway.

After the end of the installation process, it is necessary to make a cement mixture. It is best to use M150 grade sand and cement for this. All these finishing materials must be sieved through a fine mesh sieve. To create a high-quality solution, it is necessary to mix sand with cement in a ratio of 3: 1. In the dry mixture, you need to gradually add clean water and at the same time stir the resulting solution with a special drill nozzle.

When the mixture is smooth and thick like dough, the mortar can be used to finish the slopes. With the help of a spatula, it must be sharply and quickly thrown onto the wall and ironed, closing the profiles. Thus, you can make a perfectly flat surface without unnecessary deformations.

The panel version without a frame is simpler. At the same time, laminate, drywall, sandwich panels, MDF, chipboard and other options are often used. Moreover, you absolutely do not have to smooth the surface of the slopes. Finishing is carried out using glue mounting. It is important that the surface is straight. There should be no defects or irregularities on the surface.

Even if the door frame itself has some defects, then they can be corrected with the help of such a design of the slopes. In this case, it is necessary to additionally plaster the door exactly in the places missing for a flat surface. If the original surface is flat and smooth, then the frame finishing will be very simple. Initially, you need to apply a primer to the base where the panels will be fixed.

Then you need to measure all the slopes and choose the right amount of finishing materials. On the panels, you need to make all the notes and put points. Then you need to connect all the lines and check them with a tape measure and a special square. This must be done very carefully. The sheet of such a panel must be cut into the required number of individual elements and prepared for installation.

As for laminate or parquet, they can be installed both vertically, one for each slope in width, and horizontally, using several short panels. Then it is necessary to apply glue to the finishing material using the nesting method with a step of about 15 cm in the shape of a square. All glue spots must be slightly dried so that a film begins to form on their surface. Only then can the elements of the slope be applied, but it is important to be very precise, since it will be possible to align the finishing panels only by a couple of centimeters, no more.

Then, starting from the top and moving down, you need to gently press the panels against the wall, but do not press hard on them, so as not to push them. This is especially true for plastic panels.

Design and decor

The design of the door slopes is the final touch after finishing. As a rule, models made of MDF and decorative materials do not require additional decoration, since these materials look quite elegant and without additions. This also applies to options with laminate, parquet board and plastic panels. To complete the finishing work, in this case, platbands are installed and the joints and all joints are masked with the help of special furniture stickers or mastic, which is selected in exact accordance with the color of the finishing materials.

But if the doorway is only plastered, then other methods of decoration must be used for it. So, for this they use paint, decorative plaster or wallpaper. But before that, the slope is covered with two layers of putty to hide the irregularities and get a smooth layer. When finishing with paint, a primer is applied first, followed by a layer of water-based paint and a bright accent on the layer of acrylic paint. So you can design the slope in an interesting way and make it very bright, playing in contrast with the door. This decor looks especially interesting in black and white.

Another finishing option is wallpapering. But it is better to select them in the color of the walls in the hallway, so either you need to choose the most similar covering, or trim both the slopes and all the walls with one material. If you have chosen wallpaper only for decorating slopes, then it is better to pay attention to options without a pattern, since they can look a little strange near the door. This is due to the fact that most of the doors have a classic simple design.

The wallpaper must completely cover the entire width of the door jamb, taking into account the overlap behind the corner line, so that the excess can be cut off at any time. Wallpaper can be textured, embossed and even have an interesting pearlescent tint. They will look very nice and elegant. But try to use dull wallpaper for the decor of door slopes, which can also be washed and cleaned. This is due to the fact that dust and dirt from the street very often accumulates near the front door.

Installing a new door is a joyous occasion for every owner. However, the work is not limited to just installing the box and the canvas - in the end, it is imperative to arrange the slopes so that the structure looks beautiful and organic.

To carry out this activity, of course, you can invite a specialist. However, does it make sense to overpay for the services of a third-party master, if it is quite possible to cope with such a simple work on your own?

For the design of slopes (- article), materials such as plaster, PVC-based panels, drywall and MDF panels are most often used. Explore the guides presented, choose the design option that suits your case, and get to work.

First step. Seal all the gaps between the base and the door frame with polyurethane foam. Let the foam harden and carefully trim off any excess blowing with a sharp knife. Gently sand any irregularities with sandpaper.

Second step. Proceed with surface treatment for future finishes. Apply a coat of primer to ensure better adhesion of the plaster to the surface.

The primer usually has to be applied in several layers. Focus on the situation - as a result, you need to get a perfectly flat and smooth surface. Apply a new layer of primer only after the previous leveling layer has completely dried.

Third step. Start plastering. Buy ready-made facade plaster or prepare a solution yourself from a lime mixture, pure fine sand and cement.

Start plastering from the top door jamb. Lay the mixture in a thick layer. Level and remove excess filler with a wooden lath.

For additional reinforcement of the outer corners, fit a perforated corner profile. It must be pressed a little into the still damp plaster mixture.

Let the starter coat dry completely and apply a finishing coat of the plaster mixture. It should be more subtle. The main task of this layer is reduced to leveling small irregularities. Wait until the finishing plaster is completely dry. Simple door slopes are ready.

Plastering is the most budget-friendly option for decorating slopes. Whether to give preference to this method or choose some other finishing method - each owner has the right to decide for himself.

Beautiful and inexpensive slopes can be made from plastic panels. First, the frame is prepared, and then the finishing is performed directly.

Frame

For the frame, prepare a timber with a section of 2x4 cm. Plastic panels will be attached to the frame.

Saw the timber into blanks according to the dimensions of the future slopes. Secure 4 perpendicular planks to each wall portion of the doorway. Attach 3 strips to the top. Use nails to fix the elements.

Side elements

The finishing panels should be slightly wider than the surfaces to be decorated with them. The trim elements will need to be bent so that they beautifully "beat" the corners.

From the end, the plastic panels have a hollow structure. Regular voids are present along the length of the elements. To shape the panel into the desired shape, make appropriate cuts along the voids mentioned. An ordinary stationery knife will help you with this.

If desired, even the columns can be trimmed with plastic panels, so there will definitely not be any problems with finishing the corners of the slopes. The joints will be barely noticeable.

Make the cuts only on the back of the trim elements.

Attach the cut modules to the frame. For fixing, you can use screws or small nails. Fix the bent elements to the wall surface. Work in this order:

  • define the border of the trim element;
  • make five holes in the wall so that in the future they will be covered by the edge of the panel;
  • drive wooden plugs into the prepared recesses;
  • screw the panel to the wooden plugs using self-tapping screws (nail it in).
  • Install all panels according to this algorithm.

Perfect door slopes can be made from drywall.

First step. Drill holes along the entire perimeter of the opening at a distance of about 200 mm. Drive the dowels into the holes and screw the screws into the dowels, without slightly tightening the end.

Second step. Determine the appropriate dimensions for the starting guide rail. To do this, you need to measure three sides of the opening. Cut off the guide according to measurements.

You can make the upper guide along the width of the opening, since in the future, the side sheets will rest against the upper slope. You can make the side guides a little shorter.

Third step. Screw the starter rail to the wall using self-tapping screws. The long side, at the same time, should be located outside the door slope, and the short one - inside.

Fourth step. Mark strips of the required size on a sheet of drywall. Cut out the drywall according to the markings.

It is very important to follow the cutting technique. Otherwise, the cut edges will be ugly.

To cut, attach a long, even object, such as a piece of a fixing profile, to the scribe line. Cut through the top layer of the paper. Gently tap the cut strip from the back of the sheet to break through the plaster, then cut through the second paper layer.

Fifth step. Prepare the glue mixture. Follow the instructions specifically for your adhesive.

Sixth step. Apply a homogeneous adhesive mass to the back of the drywall strips. Also, you need to glue the pre-mounted dowels with glue.

Seventh step. Proceed directly to the finish. Guide the edge of the strip into the start guide. Align the trim and then press it against the base. Secure the side slopes in the same way. Remove excess glue immediately, otherwise it will lead to deformation of the drywall in the future.

The slopes must be supported with spacers while the glue dries.

The gaps between the base and the drywall can be filled with removed excess glue.

Allow the slopes to dry for 12-24 hours and you can proceed with the finishing: putty, painting or other finishing of your choice.

Such slopes will serve for many years without any complaints.

Beautiful door slopes can be made from MDF.

First step. Prepare the foundation for future door slopes. To do this, treat the base with a simple lime-cement mixture. Let the mixture dry and apply a primer over it.

Second step. Cut the MDF into three slopes of the required dimensions. Before you start cutting, carefully measure the angles of the joining of the sides of the opening. Next, you need to cut the ends of the trim pieces according to the measured angles.

Before proceeding with the installation of the panels, make sure that the joints are correct. To do this, attach the elements to be connected to each other. Try not to have any gaps - they will ruin the look of the finish.

Third step. Apply the required amount of adhesive mixture to the top of the doorway. Press the appropriate trim piece onto the adhesive and support it until the adhesive is completely dry. Fix the side elements in the same way.

For the best possible fixing of the elements, place spacers between them.

Hide the gaps between the base and the fixed slopes with plastic corners. Use liquid nails or other suitable glue to secure the corners.

Try to choose panels for the manufacture of slopes, the appearance of which would be as close as possible to the appearance of the door leaf. This finish will look as holistic and beautiful as possible.

Thus, a wide variety of materials can be used to equip door slopes. Choose the appropriate option, follow the instructions given, and you will be able to cope with the tasks as well as any specialist.

Happy work!

When decorating an interior, it is impossible to achieve a complete look without an aesthetic doorway. When decorating doorways, one of the important conditions is the creation of even and neat slopes. And here slopes for entrance doors from. They do an excellent job of their task and, moreover, perfectly hide the fasteners. With their help, you can emphasize the beauty of the door.

Recently, MDF panels are becoming more and more popular. The material is of sufficient quality and can be matched to any interior. There is a huge variety of types and colors of mdf panels that can satisfy even the most demanding customer. A high-quality imitation of wood looks like an expensive breed.

General information

Advantages and disadvantages of mdf

Installation of a doorway is a rather laborious process, in which accuracy is important. However, this work can be done with your own hands.

The following advantages of this material are distinguished:

Unfortunately, there are also disadvantages here. This is, firstly, not resistance to strong mechanical stress, but rather firmly withstands moderate ones. The panel cannot be repaired after damage. Also, the inability of the material to withstand high humidity.

DIY installation of slopes

Any work begins with preparation. It is necessary to remove all dirt from the surface to be finished, eliminate and repair all chips and cracks in the walls. If there is such a need - put waterproofing.

MDF panels are of two types: finishing L-shaped and wall.

The nuances of marking and sawing mdf

In order to most accurately mark the necessary fragments, it is better to use a square and patterns in addition to a tape measure. You need to start with the top panels. Basically, slopes have uneven edges at a slight angle. This needs to be displayed on mdf as well. After installing the first panel, the following items are applied. Marking and cutting are performed during the installation process.

Cut MDF with a hacksaw, saw or jigsaw. The last one gets the most perfect cut without any burrs and chips.

Important: When installing side elements, do not forget about the presence of a threshold, since this will affect the height of the side bar.

Installation

Mountingslopes can be produced by the following methods:

  • gluing;
  • frame device.

Since mdf is a sheet material, it is easy to apply element markings to it. There are times when for the device you need to join two panels on the wall. Here you can use the frame installation method. But if the installation can be performed with integral elements, then it is quite possible to do with the glue method.

How to mount the frame

When constructing the frame, wood is used, at the same time serving as a support. According to the technology, it will be necessary to install the slats on the wall in a horizontal position in increments of thirty centimeters, attach them with dowels. The voids between them are filled with thermal insulation or construction foam.

Important: The integrity of the entire panel will depend on the accuracy and quality of filling the voids.

Gluing method

The glue method is used mainly when the surface of the walls is perfectly flat and the laying joint is of a minimum width. Also, when gluing panels, it is not always possible to use insulation material.

Important: When gluing MDF panels, all existing cracks and seams must be carefully repaired, and the surface must be treated with a special primer.

With the help of a level, beacons are installed in all directions, for which a solution is first applied. It is applied to the slopes and leveled along the beacons with a spatula. The solution is left for two days until completely dry.

The adhesive is applied to the inside of the parts, which are then applied to the wall.

Gluing of MDF elements should be done with special adhesives. So you can be sure of reliable adhesion of surfaces and strong adhesion of materials. It will also exclude the possibility of elements falling off in cases of mechanical stress and temperature fluctuations.

Output

To finish the door with MDF panels, you need to choose the right panels in terms of style and color scheme. It is important to consider the interior of the premises that are in contact with this doorway.

It is necessary to achieve the harmony of the door leaf with the opening, as well as their integrity. You need to try so that the caps of the self-tapping screws do not protrude. They must be covered with special overlays.

MDF panels, due to the combination of many advantages, variety of colors and stylistic solutions, low cost, are considered the best solution for the design of door slopes.
