Do-it-yourself step-by-step instructions for replacing the counter

First you need to shut off the water (a tap is installed in front of each water meter). You do not need to call a housing office employee - do it yourself.
The lack of water in the system must be checked on any mixer. If the water from the tap continues to flow, then in addition to the water meter, the overhead tap is also subject to replacement.
Even with a shut-off tap, water remains in the pipes. In order to remove them after removing the counter, rags should be prepared in advance.
Now, using an adjustable crane, you can remove the old water meter.
Unscrew the nuts on the drive (unscrewing the hinged nut counterclockwise).
After removing the counter, remove the old gaskets, and then clean the ends of the drive clean from possible residues of rubber stuck to the gaskets. Cleaning can be done with an ordinary knife or a screwdriver.
The new counter is installed in place of the old one, and for high-quality sealing of joints we use paranitic or rubber gaskets. The thread of the water meter does not require additional sealing, as this will only complicate the tightening of the nut.
Please note that the device must be installed in the direction of the water flow (an arrow is drawn in the desired direction on the body of the water meter for orientation).
After that, we install gaskets between the drive and the counter, tighten. For convenience, hold the water meter with one hand so that it does not scroll. It’s not worth tightening too much, it’s better to tighten it later than to spoil the gasket.
Now you can open the stopcock and make sure of the reliability and tightness of the connections (the valve on the mixer at the same time opens to the stop).

Features of replacing a hot water meter

How to replace a water meter if the old one is out of order. My advice, buy high-quality metering devices so as not to replace them often, high-quality meters are more expensive, but cheaper, because it is not necessary to change it so often.

The replacement procedure is technically very simple, some special skills are not required, you need to be a little able to tighten and unscrew the nuts, and you will do it easily yourself.

Step-by-step instruction

First, turn off the water. You will need an adjustable wrench and possibly a pipe wrench in order to hold it if the nuts are “stuck” to the meter. Several times I had to anneal the nuts, annealed them with gas, since it was unrealistic to unwind. If you have such a situation and you will warm up, be sure to repack all connections again !!! We untwist the nuts counterclockwise, pull out the old counter, be sure to clean the fittings from the remnants of the old gaskets, insert new ones, I always put silicone or in extreme cases rubber. Do not put paranitic ones, they become stuck in for 2-3 years and are unscrewed heavily. Then hand wrap them onto the new device until they stop, take the adjustable wrench and tighten the nuts 0.5-1 turn, while with the other hand hold the counter by the housing. Turn on the water and see if it is undermining somewhere, tighten the nut a little. That is the whole procedure. You can invite a sealer.

Still desirable immediately. When installing the meter, do not reverse the direction. The arrow indicates the direction of the water. Do not wrap fum tape or linen onto the threads, only gaskets.
