How to make an indoor fountain at home with your own hands? Home fountain - making your own hands Making home fountains.

Having made an indoor fountain with your own hands at home, you can not only save a fairly large amount of money, but also acquire a useful interior decoration. According to the Chinese teachings of Feng Shui, the symbol of Water, placed in the northwestern part of the dwelling, provides prosperity to the family. A babbling brook, a cascade of waterfalls or another form of a fountain can become an excellent personification of the moving elements in the house.

Small decorative cascades for decorating the interior should be made taking into account the fact that there is nowhere to drain the constantly arriving water at home. This means that the amount of liquid that is in the system must be constant. To comply with this requirement, the fountain installed in the room must be made working in a closed cycle. In this case, water will be collected in a storage tank. The pump installed in the system must raise it to the upper point of the structure, from where the liquid will pour out, again falling into the tank.

In order for a thin stream to flow down, drip or beat up beautifully, decorative obstacles should be made of shells, stone, shards or other objects on its way. In ancient China and Japan, specially trained craftsmen built a channel for a stream so that it murmured beautifully. The tuners of the "music of water" created real masterpieces from ordinary pebbles, stacking them so that cascades with recesses formed into which drops and streams fell, producing the noise characteristic of a stream or waterfall.

What to prepare for work?

To create a mini fountain, you need to choose the right pump. Its power depends on the height to which you need to lift the liquid. This value is dictated by the dimensions of the structure and is determined individually. If you want to make a fountain with your own hands so that the jet of water shoots up, it is better to buy a pump with more power and a regulator. To assemble a small tabletop cascade, an aquarium water filter pump is enough.

Before you make a fountain with your own hands, you need to prepare:

  • a tank into which water will flow;
  • silicone tubes;
  • waterproof glue;
  • materials for decorating the product.

The bowl of the reservoir must be capacious. In addition to its direct function - collecting the liquid circulating in the system - it will also serve as the basis for a composition made of stone or other materials. Some of them can be placed directly in the container.

What if there is no pump?

A low-power pump that can raise water to a height of about 20 cm can be made independently. For this you need:

  • a motor from a children's toy, camera or other, protected from water;
  • batteries (from the phone or finger);
  • charging connector if using a mobile phone battery;
  • LEDs - optional;
  • switch of any type;
  • electrical wires;
  • plastic gear;
  • small round container (aerosol cap, plastic bottle);
  • waterproof adhesive.

From a gear from an unnecessary mechanism, make an impeller for water supply: fit the wheel to the diameter of a round container, glue 4 pieces of plastic crosswise on the shaft: fig. eleven). Drill a hole in the bottom of the tank for the motor shaft, and in the side for water. Drive the motor shaft inside the tank, glue the motor housing to the bottom of the pump tank from the outside, and fix the impeller on the shaft inside (2). Cut off a piece of plastic, make a small hole in it, seal the open part of the pump housing. Attach a tube to the hole in the side and seal the connection (3). Lead the wires to the motor and carefully insulate the connection, protecting it from water. Any sealant will work for this.

To install the connection of the motor to the power supply, use the diagram (4). It is important to remember that the batteries must be inaccessible to moisture. You can fix them on the outside of the pool, and glue the switch here.

You can include a resistor in the circuit to adjust the speed of rotation of the motor or LEDs for decorative lighting.

Assembly Method

A homemade or purchased pump must be attached to the bottom of the tank (storage tank). Its depth should be such that the pump is completely submerged in water. You can hide the pump in different ways: place a mesh cover on top of it, on which pebbles or shells representing the bottom of the reservoir will be laid, or hide it inside a large decorative element. One of the design options - a dry fountain - provides for a completely hidden surface of the water in the reservoir. To do this, you need to lay a grate on top of it and fix the stones. The water will pass through the stones into the container without forming a visible pool. Rice. 2.

How to make a mini fountain in an apartment with your own hands from ceramic pots (Fig. 3), a small master class will tell:

  1. 1 Prepare 2 ceramic pots and 5 trays (2 large and 3 small). Cover them with waterproof varnish, drill a hole for the tube in the center of 1 larger and 1 smaller pallet. Make cuts on the edges of the pallets to drain water.
  2. 2 Install the pump at the bottom of the tank, following the diagram in the figure. Close it with a large pot, and bring the tube through its drainage hole and drilled holes in the pallets to the very top of the structure.
  3. 3 Place a smaller pot next to it and attach the tray to it. The next tier consists of 2 small pallets (one is upside down and serves as the base for a bowl from the other). Pallets should be placed so that the holes sawn into their sides allow water to overflow from one to another, forming a cascade.
  4. 4 Decorate a fountain, assembled with your own hands from the simplest materials, with beautiful pebbles, plants and shells, figurines of aquatic animals or birds.

Such a miniature pond can be put on the table or given a special corner among indoor plants. Overflowing water will not only enliven and decorate the composition, but also allow you to slightly moisten the air.

Waterfalls in the room

A stylish and fashionable interior decoration is a vertical waterfall (Fig. 4). Making this kind of indoor fountain with your own hands is not much more difficult to make than a desktop mini fountain. The only difference is the power of the pump for such a large structure. When looking for a pump, you need to pay attention to the fact that the height of the water column is at least 1.8-2 m. This will make it possible to arrange a water wall or a stream originating under the ceiling of the room.

Before you make a home waterfall, you need to waterproof the floor in case the tank leaks. For this, polyethylene film can be used. It is advisable to close with it a section of the floor 15-20 cm larger than the perimeter of the future structure.

For the panel on which the water will flow, you will need:

  • thick glass or mirror;
  • bars 5x5 cm for support posts;
  • boards for the base of the top cover;
  • plastic pipe with a diameter of 2 cm for distributing water over glass;
  • a bar or thick board for the latch step.

The device of the fountain supply system is the same as discussed above.

On top of the fountain tray, you need to install and fix a board with an emphasis to fix the glass in a vertical position. Knock down the frame from the support bars and the crossbar from above. The horizontal bar of the top cover can play the role of the crossbar.

A piece of plastic water pipe, the length of which is equal to the width of the glass panel, is drilled in one line along the axis. The holes should not be spaced too far apart to give the impression of separate trickles. Plug one end of the sprinkler tube, fasten it to the top cover bar. Set backlight if needed.

Place the glass panel vertically, resting the lower edge against the step of the latch. Attach the side parts to the support bars with liquid nails. In order to prevent water from spreading outside the panel, it is necessary to glue sides made of strips of glass, wood, and plastic on its edges.

Install the pump in the pan, run the water supply tube up to the open end of the distribution pipe. Connect, seal the connection. Attach the front part of the top cover. Make a decorative finish for a home fountain with your own hands to your own taste. Through the many holes in the sprinkler pipe, water jets will fall on the glass and flow down it into the pan, creating the illusion of a falling stream.

Materials for decorative finishing of indoor fountains, made by hand in desktop or floor versions, can be found in pet stores (colored soil, castles, shells, ships in the aquarium department). Flower shops sell bamboo plant supports and beautiful containers. In the souvenir departments you can find artificial bonsai, figurines of birds and animals.

There is nothing more pleasant than to relax after a hard day under the quiet splash of water in a man-made stream. The decorative functions of the fountain are perfectly combined with its main purpose - to humidify the air in the room. In addition to the jets of pouring water, you can make live indoor plants.

In specialized stores today you can buy very original. The range of such goods is quite large, as they say, for every taste and color. Many people like it when the murmur of a small trickle of water is heard in the house. These sounds allow you to relax and calm down after a hard day's work. However, most consumers do not know what can be done. At the same time, special costs are not required, as well as knowledge.

Construction material

So, below we will describe how to make a fountain at home. To create an original design you will need:

  1. Glue.
  2. A container that will serve as the basis for the fountain.
  3. Approximate scheme of the fountain
  4. Large sink.
  5. A small piece of hose commonly used for cleaning aquariums.
  6. Polyethylene film.
  7. Expanded clay, decorative multi-colored soil and shells of various shapes and sizes.

A large sink will serve as the central detail of the entire composition. A pump and a hose are needed for pumping water, and multi-colored soil, shells and expanded clay are for decoration. In addition, you need a small piece of plastic wrap. So, expanded clay can be purchased at any flower shop. As for the soil black, red, and it is better to use a special mixture for aquariums.

We select the capacity

A home fountain should be strong enough and at the same time beautiful. Therefore, the container for its base should be selected more carefully. The first step in the manufacture of a structure is the selection of a vessel. For the fountain, in this case, you can take a flower pot. If there is no such container, then you can use a flower pot, a beautiful basin, a clay vase, and so on.

The most important thing is that the vessel does not leak. If, for example, there are holes in the flower pot, they should be sealed with epoxy glue.

Choosing a pump

Since everyone can make a fountain at home, you should pay special attention to the pump. After all, not everyone understands them. There are several with a spray tip and a regular one. In this case, the first option is not suitable. First of all, splashes can get outside the main tank. And one more thing - we have a completely different idea.

Therefore, to make a mini-fountain with your own hands, an ordinary pump will be enough. The tip can be made by yourself. In this case, the pump should simply raise the jet up.

First stage

So, how to make a fountain at home at no extra cost? First you need to cut off a small piece of the hose, about 10 centimeters long. After that, you need to put it on the pump tip and see if the hole in it is completely open. It is on this that the power of the jet that will be supplied to the fountain depends. The finished structure should be installed at the bottom of a pre-prepared container.

The home fountain in this case will be with a large sink in the center. This is where the water will come out. Therefore, it is necessary to make a hole in the sink that will fit the hose in size. This can be done with a conventional drill. Of course, the sink should be drilled carefully so that its walls do not crack.

Stage two

The layout of the fountain is quite simple. With its help, everyone will be able to assemble a similar decoration for their interior. When the pump is installed in the tank, expanded clay can be poured, which must be covered with polyethylene from above. A hole for the hose should be made in advance in the film.

Polyethylene is necessary so that expanded clay does not float when wet. After all, water will be poured into the container. After that, multi-colored aquarium soil should be poured onto the film.

Washbasin stand

The composition will not look if the main element is simply set on pebbles. Therefore, you should make a neat stand. So, how to make a fountain at home, which will not only soothe with the pleasant sounds of flowing water, but also be a wonderful addition and highlight of the interior? A beautiful stand can be created from pebbles. They can be held together with epoxy glue. When making the stand, do not forget about the hole for the hose.

Assembling the structure

When the stand is ready, a hose should be passed through it. If it is too long, then it needs to be shortened. Otherwise, you will see where the water is coming from. Now you can install the main element - a large sink. In the previously made hole, stretch the hose just one centimeter.

That's all, it remains to decorate the fountain. To do this, pour some shells around the sink and put the most beautiful pebbles. All this can be purchased at the store - for lovers of aquarium fish or as a gift.

If there is no large sink, then it can also be replaced with any suitable item. The main thing is that you can make a hole for the hose in it. The design of a decorative fountain for a room depends entirely on the imagination of its creator.

The final stage

After the composition is completely folded and all its elements are fixed, it is necessary to pour water into the container. There is no point in completely submerging the soil. So the fountain will lose the main idea and its charm. The most important thing is that the pump is completely hidden under water.

Now you can turn on the fountain. To do this, plug the cable from the pump into the outlet.

That's all, the homemade fountain for the room is ready. However, it is worth remembering that the water from it will gradually evaporate, especially in the hot season. Therefore, it will be necessary to add liquid to the decorative fountain at least once a week. More often if necessary.

You can mask the cable from the pump to the outlet. In addition, the indoor fountain can be decorated with artificial flowers. This will give the composition a more effective look.

Finally

Now you know how to make a home fountain. It does not require large expenses and special talents to create it. Enough to turn on the fantasy. It doesn’t take much time to make such compositions, but they will delight you for more than one year.

The intense rhythm of our life involves periodic rest, both physical and moral, and there is nothing more pleasant than sitting in silence, enjoying the beautiful view and pleasant sounds.

For this purpose, decorative fountains for an apartment can be suitable, which fully meet all these requirements.

After all, there is nothing more pleasant than listening to the sound of murmuring water and looking at a pouring fountain. And to build it in an apartment, even if small in size, is a completely solvable task.

In addition to the listed useful properties of this structure, the fountain in the apartment is a good air humidifier.

Types of mini-fountains at the place of application

Small home fountains can be divided into several types. According to the place of application, they are divided into country and indoor fountains. It is clear that a country fountain, in most cases, is installed on the street, and a room fountain in a city apartment. The country fountain is made large and it is important to choose the right place for its installation.

Do-it-yourself decorative fountain in the apartment video:

Place to install a country fountain

When choosing a place, it is important to observe three important conditions:

  1. It is highly undesirable to install near trees. Firstly, growing roots can damage the fountain bowl and its waterproofing. Secondly, falling fruits and leaves can also disrupt the water system and the bowl.
  2. If the fountain is installed in open areas, then flowering of water may occur due to direct exposure to the rays of the sun.
  3. If the fountain is installed in the immediate vicinity of the house, then additional dampness may form on the building during windy weather, due to the drift of water drops from the fountain towards the house.

Classification of fountains according to the type of falling water

According to the type of falling water, a decorative fountain can be divided into several types.

  1. Waterfall. This view has a ledge design with falling water. It has a beautiful appearance and is used most often.
  2. Cascade. The installation scheme is the same as that of the first type, only it consists of several water flows. The liquid in them overflows along thresholds or inclined ledges.
  3. An ordinary fountain, made in the form of a jet beating up and spraying spray around it.
  4. Fountains made in the form of streams and lakes. They have an original appearance and are becoming increasingly popular.

Do-it-yourself indoor fountain

Looking at the decorations of some fountains, it seems that their manufacture and installation are very difficult to perform. Yes, there are rather bulky designs, and their installation will require you to have serious professional skills and knowledge, but a small do-it-yourself mini-fountain is quite capable of being made by almost every person who has simple skills in construction and installation work. In addition, you will create a design based only on your preferences and taste, the most suitable for your home interior. In addition, you will save a lot of money.

Materials and tools

So, if you still do not know how to make a mini fountain in your apartment, then read our step-by-step instructions. Before starting this work, you need to purchase the necessary materials and tools.

  • Fountain container. It can be a basin, a flower pot or something else at your discretion.
  • The hose used to clean the aquarium is about 10 cm long.
  • Polyethylene with dimensions slightly larger than the container.
  • Glue waterproof, expanded clay.
  • Aquarium pump.
  • Medium or large sink, and stones or pebbles to strengthen it.
  • Small shells and colored ground used for decoration.

The bowl for the fountain, which we choose, needs to be checked for cracks and holes in order to prevent future leaks.

Pump installation

If you are making a tabletop fountain, then you first need to find a hose to work through which a stream of water will come out. To do this, cut off 10 cm from a regular aquarium hose and insert it into the pump. Immediately check whether your system is in working condition so that you do not return to this issue later. We install the pump to the bottom of the tank and fill it with expanded clay. Do not forget to level the surface after backfilling.

Final work

After you have filled up the expanded clay, you need to cover it with a film, having previously made a hole for the hose. Then we put decorative soil on the film.

Note!

For a sea shell, it is advisable to make a base of stones and fix them to the shell using waterproof glue.

The next step is to push the tube through the stones and the sink, after making a hole in it. The end of the hose should protrude from the sink by about 1 cm. The surface of the fountain should be decorated with stones and shells at your discretion. Thus, you saw that you can make a table fountain with your own hands without spending significant effort and money.

Advantages of a fountain without a pump

If you think that when building fountain structures, it is imperative to use a mini fountain pump, then you are mistaken. You can make a small fountain without using a pump, while it will work solely thanks to the laws of physics.

Yes, in these designs there are some restrictions on the power of the jet, but then you do not have to spend money on electricity and buy and connect a pump. You need to know that such a fountain should not be large, otherwise you cannot do without a pump.

How the fountain works

Such a fountain will work on the principle of communicating vessels, with only some peculiarities. They need to be placed on the same level, connected to each other by two tubes. It is better to take plastic containers and preferably of the same volume, and tubes with a minimum thickness for longer uninterrupted operation of the fountain. The tubes are inserted into the bottom of each vessel, into pre-drilled holes, which then need to be sealed.

Illuminated fountain

Final assembly and installation of the fountain

In order for such floor fountains to work without a pump, you need to use a third vessel, equal in volume or greater than the previous two. To this vessel, in the walls, closer to the bottom, make two more holes, where you insert the two ends of the tubes from smaller containers.

We also tightly seal the inlets of these tubes, and insert a T-shaped adapter into the bottom of a large vessel. After that, the design of your fountain is considered complete. You will have to arrange it according to your taste, preferences and combination with the interior of the apartment.

Garden fountain

Where can I install apartment fountains. As you probably already understood from the above, fountains for an apartment come in a variety of types. In addition, they can be installed not only on the floor, but also on the table and even on the wall.

Note!

Desktop structures are usually the smallest in size and can even be placed on bedside tables and a window sill.

Floor fountains depend on the size of your apartment and can look quite impressive. Wall fountains look like real works of art and look like pano or paintings.

Their installation and manufacture, of course, is more complex and requires much more skills and material, but with a successful performance of your own, you will get indescribable pleasure contemplating them.

Varieties of fountains

A fountain is a decorative hydraulic structure in which water can be supplied under pressure up and to the sides, as well as simply flow down the walls of the structure. The water in the fountain circulates due to the operation of the pump (this principle is also used in artificial and). Depending on the nature of the movement of the water flow, cascade, geyser and fountains of the "bell" type are distinguished.

  • Geyser. The most common version of the fountain, when pressurized water is thrown vertically or at an angle. The height to which the liquid is supplied can vary widely. By changing this indicator, you can create both a cozy low fountain and an impressive noisy stream of water, reaching a height of several meters.
  • Bell. Another easy-to-device solution that fits perfectly into the landscape landscape. Water in such a fountain is supplied to a small height, from where it is evenly distributed around the perimeter by a nozzle, forming a continuous water film in the form of a hemisphere.
  • Cascade. The implementation of cascades is diverse and most effective: water slowly overflows from one container to another, creating the illusion of stepped waterfalls.
  • hybrid solutions. Usually they combine geyser and cascading varieties of fountains. Water under pressure is supplied to the upper part of the cascade structure, where one or more geysers are formed due to excess pressure. Further, the path of water runs along the cascade.

Building a stone fountain

We invite you to familiarize yourself with the manufacturing technology of the simplest cascade fountain from improvised materials. The techniques underlying its construction will allow you to build any decorative fountain with your own hands.

Before starting work, sketch out a diagram of your future creation on a piece of paper. This will allow you to evaluate the pros and cons of the intended design and at this stage to choose the best option for the pump.

Improve your garden space in just 10 easy steps:

  1. Choose the right place. Try to find a platform on the leeward side of the house, otherwise its walls may suffer from moisture. Decide on the height of the garden fountain X ( see fig. higher). The distance between the house and the fountain should not be less than three times the height to which water is supplied.
  2. Decide on the size. Use a ready-made container (plastic, ceramic, metal, etc.) or dig a small ditch and cover it with waterproofing material or fill the bottom and walls with concrete.
  3. Dig a pit and a trench. Make the dimensions of the pit 10-20 cm larger than the dimensions of the container. This is necessary for the construction of a sand cushion. If, after installing the plastic container, voids remain on the sides, fill them with soil and gravel. Dig a trench 30 cm deep from the pit to the house - it is necessary for laying the cable supplying the pump. For protection, place it in a plastic pipe or hose of a suitable size. Lead the cable into the house.
  4. Install a submersible pump. In order not to have to frequently clean the filter of pumping equipment, install it on a brick pedestal.
  5. Connect pump with stainless pipe. The tube will serve as a frame for the stone structure, and water will be supplied through it. Determine the size of the tube, taking into account the depth of the container and the height of the fountain X.
  6. Cover the container with a grate and bars. To avoid water pollution with large debris, cover the container with a plastic or stainless steel mesh with a cell of no more than 1 × 1 cm. Install several bars across the container that can support the weight of the stone structure.
  7. Prepare stones for installation. Give preference to flat stones of interesting colors and shapes. Wash and dry thoroughly. Consider their location and drill a hole for the tube (see point 5).
  8. Assemble a decorative stone structure. Carefully place the stones on the tube, trying to place the center of mass in the lower 1/3 of the height of the structure. This means that the larger stones should be at the bottom.
  9. Fill the container with water and check the operation of the fountain. Water should evenly wash most of the stones. Adjust the pressure and change the stones if necessary.
  10. Finishing touch. Mask the gaps with small pebbles, decorate the top of the fountain to your liking.

Not quite sure how to make a fountain? The process of erecting such a structure is presented in some detail in the following video.

You can use the most unexpected objects as nozzles. The following video shows a bottle garden fountain - looks unusual.

Fountain Pump Selection

The range of pumps is extremely large, so do not rush to buy the first model that comes across. Your task is to choose the device that is optimal in terms of characteristics and suitable for operation in specific conditions. And the first thing you need to decide is to buy a submersible or surface pump?

Features of surface and submersible pumps

Characteristics

Submersible pumps

Surface pumps

The device, hidden under the water column or separate structures, remains invisible to prying eyes

Placing pumping equipment in an open area involves the construction of additional masking structures (decorative stone, bushes, box). High risk of theft

It comes down to installing the pump on a pedestal in the bottom of the reservoir, connecting pipes to it and supplying power

Work is being carried out near the reservoir, water is discharged to any part of the fountain

Service

The device is under water, which complicates routine maintenance. Most models need to be dismantled for the winter to avoid breakage.

The pump is located in a dry place, has free access. Easily tolerates wintering on the job site

Hidden under water pumping equipment is almost inaudible

Even when the pump is disguised with decorative elements, its operation is noticeable by the characteristic sound

The best choice

For small fountains

For structurally complex fountains when implemented on large reservoirs

As a rule, with equal characteristics, submersible models are cheaper than surface ones.

For each specific case, choose a pump with the appropriate characteristics. First of all, you should be interested in the following indicators:

  • maximum head. Usually denoted H max, measured in meters. Characterizes the maximum height of water rise;
  • maximum performance. Denoted Q max, measured in m 3 / h or l / h. Determines the volume of fluid that can be pumped through the pump in an hour.

To make it easier for you to select equipment, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the data in the table below. With their help, you can determine the approximate characteristics of the pump.

A fountain without a pump - is it real?

There are two approaches to making a fountain without installing a pump:

  • head due to the pressure of the liquid column. To build this design, you will need a sealed container, a pipe or hose installed in place of the fountain nozzle. Fix the container above the level at which the nozzle is located (pressure depends on the height), connect it with a hose or pipe to the nozzle. Fill the tank with water - get a periodic design: the fountain will work until the water tank is empty;
  • head due to pressure in a water pipe. Take advantage of the pressure potential created in the centralized plumbing system of your garden partnership. Just connect the fountain to the pipe and you can adjust its operation as you wish. Only in this case, do not forget to provide options for using the received volume of water!

Regardless of which fountain you decide to build on the garden plot, be sure to check out the most. Someone else's negative experience is worth a lot! And you can always buy a fountain - a ready-made factory solution that does not require complex work.

The indoor fountain will decorate the house, humidify the air in the room, and give a little coolness on a hot day. It is not necessary to buy expensive equipment. If you consider yourself a creative person, then be patient, let your imagination run wild and start creating a fountain with your own hands.

The design of the indoor mini fountain is quite simple. It is based on the principle of a closed cycle: water is poured into a system connected to a power source, while a submersible electric pump lifts the water up, and then, depending on the type of construction, it flows into a storage tank.

The indoor fountain can be of three types, depending on the method of water discharge:

  • gushing: the jet beats up and falls into the mini-pool;
  • cascading: water falls from a small height, overflowing over decorative ledges;
  • closed: water circulates in flasks or flat wall-mounted containers in the form of pictures.

The location of the indoor fountain

Before starting work, decide on the size and location of the future fountain. A bulky, large fountain will look out of place in a small apartment.

The indoor fountain can be floor, wall or tabletop. The choice depends on the size of the room and on the functions assigned to the fountain. For a small room, a small tabletop fountain would be optimal.

Functionally, the fountain serves not only as a decor item, it moisturizes the air well. Therefore, fountains should not be installed near wooden furniture: it can deteriorate from constant moisture. When choosing the location of the fountain, also consider the presence of small children or pets in the house: install the structure where it will not interfere with anyone.

Fountain materials

Most often, indoor fountains are made of glass and stone. The glass part is a kind of foundation for the fountain, its foundation. Stones are used for the stability of the structure. For parts of the fountain that do not come into contact with water, you can use wood, ceramics, synthetic materials.

The indoor fountain can be supplemented with lighting. At night, such a fountain will serve as a kind of night light. Sound background and additionally built-in clock or barometer will make the fountain functional.

The main element for creating an indoor fountain is a pump (water pump) for water circulation. The indoor fountain is a small installation, so don't overdo it. Choose low power silent pumps for aquariums or especially for small fountains with a power of approximately 6 W and 240 liters per hour. The higher the power, the noisier the pump. You should hear the murmur of water, not the operation of an electric motor.

Indoor Fountain Decor

The beauty of creating a fountain with your own hands lies not only in saving money, but also in the ability to decorate it to your own taste. If there are difficulties with inspiration, then you can always take advice from people who know: look through magazines about the interior.

What can be suitable as a decor? Before you run to the store, think about how many cute little things you have at home idle. A cache-pot, a ceramic pot or a vase, shells brought from the sea and pebbles, the most popular “filling” for fountains, can be used as a base. Even souvenir figurines can find a second life. Artificial trees and flowers, gravel, live plants - all this can become a decor for a fountain.

To create flowing water, you can use different containers: bowls, sea shells, lakes, etc.

indoor fountain step by step

Making a fountain with your own hands is very simple. The main thing you will need:

  • hermetic container for a fountain: a flower pot, a vase, a pot, a bucket;
  • water pump (water pump). A pump can be bought at a hardware store or pet store, a low-power water pump for aquariums will do;
  • a piece of hose (for example, for cleaning aquariums);
  • decor elements.

We install the pump at the bottom of the selected vessel (there are suction cups on the pump) and attach a hose to it. We cover the pump with stones, and the water supply tube is brought up between them. We cover the space around the pump with large decorative elements (expanded clay, stone), then with smaller ones (pebbles, shells, glass). We leave only the outlet of the filter, - fill the rest with water. The tube, like the pump itself, should be completely masked so as not to disturb the harmony of the composition. And then decor and decoration at your discretion.

A good solution is to “seat” a figurine (often frogs are used) on a tube that supplies water. To do this, you need to drill a hole in the figurine and thread a tube into it, water will flow from the frog's mouth.

Reliable fixation and sealing of the entire structure is achieved through the use of waterproof adhesives.

The power of the ejection of water is regulated by a wheel, which is located on the pump housing. This power also depends on the diameter of the tube: the smaller it is, the higher the jet, respectively. If you want the water to flow out in several streams, install a divider on the tube.

The operation of an indoor fountain does not cause much effort and consists only in maintaining the water level in sufficient volume for circulation. There should be enough water so that the pump is constantly in the water. The water will evaporate, so every week it will have to be added to the fountain.
