How to make a pond in the country from an old bath

Before you start creating a pond from a bath, you need to familiarize yourself with some of the requirements for its creation, only by taking them into account can you make a pond that will last a long time.

First, it is necessary to choose the right place for creating a pond: territories that are illuminated by direct sunlight for no more than eight hours a day are preferable, the best option is five to six hours.

Secondly, it is undesirable to build a reservoir under trees and near tall bushes, otherwise there will always be debris in the pond (leaves, branches, etc.).

Thirdly, you should not make a reservoir in the lowlands, the ideal option is areas with solid ground in the far corner of the garden.

In order to make a pond from an old bathroom, you will need:

Old bath;

Tile adhesive;

Ornamental plants;

Metal grid;

Round stones;

Steel wire.

First of all, measure the length, width and height of the bathtub and dig a hole in the area of your choice of the same width and length as the bathtub, but more than 10-15 centimeters deep than the height of the bathtub itself.

After that, place the prepared bath in the dug hole (here you will need helpers, and if the bath is of impressive dimensions, then you cannot do without a winch), check its horizontalness with a building level and, if everything is in order, fill the cracks between the ground and the container with rubble and sand, well tamp.

Next, prepare the tile adhesive and apply it to the inner walls of the tub and leave to dry for about 24 hours. If you want to ultimately get a pond that resembles a natural reservoir as much as possible, then at this stage of work, you should not level the glue in the bath.

After the glue has dried, you can start installing the mesh. First of all, install the mesh on the edges of the bathroom (on the inside of the bath, the mesh should reach approximately to the middle of this container), then cover the inner walls and the bottom of the bath with cement mortar (pebbles or crushed stone can be added to the cement mortar if desired). Leave the created structure for a few days to dry properly.

As soon as the solution dries, pour dry clay on the bottom of the bath (if you want to plant live plants in the reservoir), then blunt it to a set of water. It is worth noting that the collection of water must be done carefully so that the clay does not wash out.

The artificial reservoir is ready, now you can decorate it. For decoration, you can use any plants by attaching them to the bottom of the bath, stones, placing them around the pond in small groups, etc. Hygrophilous plants look quite organic next to such a pond; they can be purchased in specialized stores and planted directly near the reservoir.
