British style cabinet. Cabinet decoration in various styles

June 2, 2016
You can talk for a long time about canons in design, but every day the existing canons are becoming less stable. Aesthetics and harmony, balance, colors, materials brought together in order to obtain such a long-awaited result are the essence of your knowledge, practice and self-development. My motto is to learn, see, touch something new every day, and I am sure that this is the only way to keep the right course in "high design".

In my mind, the concept of "study" is inextricably linked with the English detective classics. And now the walls decorated with wood panels, cabinets filled to the brim with books, antique furniture, a table covered with green cloth and its owner languidly sipping smoke from a pipe, glance at you gloomily. It's all elementary, Watson! Of course, the design of an office in an apartment does not always look like this.

But as? I’ll tell you about this.

Depending on the functional load, I divide the rooms into 4 categories:

  • workplace;
  • study-workshop;
  • meeting room;
  • a single room for the privacy of the owner.

Room selection principles

  1. The office should be comfortable and quiet- this is a prerequisite. The best solution I can safely say is a separate extension to a cottage or private house. This approach will allow you to organize a separate entrance, actively receive visitors without the likelihood of disturbing household members.

  1. An equally attractive idea is to organize an office in the attic.... Here you will find silence, peace, and isolation. With the latter, you should be careful so as not to disappear from the life of the family.

  1. If you do not have a large area, and you will have to choose from the rooms of the apartment, give preference to the one that is located as far as possible from the dining room, kitchen and nursery.

If the "neighborhood" with small noisy neighbors cannot be avoided, take care of reliable sound insulation.
I would recommend using Shumanet, which is an acoustic mineral slab.

  1. For an office in which guests will often be received, choose a room located next to the hallway.
  2. The optimal neighborhood, allowing you to alternate between rest and work, is the arrangement of an office next to a terrace, balcony or winter garden. Or maybe you, like Napoleon or Balzac, like to think while taking a bath.

If there is no window in the office, compensate for it with a landscape photo wallpaper or a lightbox that simulates a real window.
An equally interesting solution is an internal window from the next room, from which daylight will penetrate into your creative abode.

Five layouts

Male office: option 1

Do you think the offices have no gender difference? You are wrong. The male office is more often designed in English or in the classical style, highlighting solidity and status.

Wooden wardrobes, massive work desk, dark parquet, antiques, soft leather furniture. Typical accessories include grandfather clocks, paperweights and heavy ashtrays. This is a classic, but, as you know, there are exceptions in everything.

Women's office: option 2

The classic women's office is lighter, it contains light, carved, openwork furniture with thin curved legs, aged, gilded things. And, of course, many accessories.

Scientist "cat": option 3

The separate layout of the office arose in the homes of people who were engaged in science or literature. Such rooms necessarily involve massive cabinets, for storing a library, they are often performed in classic natural shades of brown and beige. Here you will not find newfangled paraphernalia, plastic or synthetics.

When setting up your library, remember that books require special storage conditions and are sensitive to light.

Creative office: option 4

The complete opposite of the classic cabinet. The layout is determined by the type of activity of the owner. For example, a photographer at the head of the choice of design will put a sufficient number of storage spaces for volumetric equipment, and the fashion designer will emphasize the need for high-quality lighting, preferably natural.

House in the house: option 5

This type of office is suitable for those who work at any time of the day and do not share the concept of work and leisure, for example, programmers. In this case, the room should contain everything that is required for comfort, this is a sleeping place, a comfortable table, and even a lunch table.

An office on the loggia - a working corner in a small area

Unfortunately, the reality is that an office in an average apartment is allocated a small area, and not a whole room. Should I consider the option of arranging an office on the balcony?

The answer is unequivocal - yes! A small office on the balcony is an opportunity to gain autonomy, good insolation and often a beautiful view.

There is only one drawback - the area is modest in size, but I will teach you how to turn a drawback into a dignity.

  1. The design of the room and the balcony should be made in the same style and in the same color scheme. What for? In order to eliminate clear zoning and not emphasize the already modest size of the balcony.
  2. Use blackout curtains to separate the study balcony from the room. If you are adjacent to the bedroom, hang curtains from the side of the main room, if from the living room or hall - from the side of the office.

  1. "Pocket" furniture, no, no, this is not a joke. Choosing furniture that can be installed in a "pocket". In most cases, the width of the balcony exceeds the size of the window, the distance between the end border and the side edge of the frame will be enough to accommodate a cabinet, table, sofa and even a rack. If the balcony has a blank side wall, hang a photo, painting or small TV over the table.

For balconies with solid side walls, I recommend using various geometric countertops, for example, triangular. This will allow you to change the angle of view and not rest your eyes on the wall.

  1. All furniture should be positioned so as not to block the access of natural light. Shelves and cabinets should not shade windows, including internal ones.
  2. Size your countertop carefully. I recommend installing cantilever structures or a table with a narrow L-shaped table top.

  1. The walls shouldn't be empty. Use them to decorate shelves or shelving for folders and books.
  2. Lamps that are mounted on the wall and have a flexible leg will help save space on the table.
  3. Decorate the windows with roller blinds or blinds so that each sash has a separate control system.

Let's say a word about styles

Gothic

The concept of Gothic is associated with Dracula, no, no, I will not suggest placing a coffin in the office as a sleeping place, but I will still recommend some elements. So, what is modern Gothic like?

Firstly, it is worth undertaking the implementation of a full-fledged Gothic cabinet even at the stage of the house project. Yes, exactly at home! Because Gothic suggests a lot of space.

If you want a real medieval castle, or at least stylized it with lancet windows, add that to your house project. Interior details should create the image of an abandoned mansion. The color scheme is dark with an abundance of cherry, purple and dark gray tones.

Use gilded classic frames with patina as decoration, velvet combined with satin. Visit the flea market and look for antique candelabra, darkened paintings, silver that create a special atmosphere.

Floor decoration - and board. Regardless of the option chosen, the coating should have a dark saturated color and embossed texture.

If there is an entrance hall adjacent to the office, lay out the floor with embossed hexagonal or square tiles with abstract or floral ornaments. I would recommend looking at a suitable option in the Meetall Tagina Ceramiche DArte collection.

Gothic is tiles, statues and painting, which, unfortunately, few know about. The simplest option for wall decoration is to apply a stencil one-color pattern to smooth plaster. But I would entrust the complex polychrome painting depicting scenes of knightly life to professionals.

An obligatory element is wooden parts, it can be door leaves with iron or bronze lining, ceiling beams that rest on consoles.

Natural wood beams are quite heavy, so I advise you to replace them with painted polyurethane imitation.

From furniture choose stools or chairs with high backs, wrought and painted chests, massive cabinets made of unpainted wood. Alternatively, you can use furniture with wrought iron frames.

Stained glass is another element that is inextricably linked with the concept of Gothic. In a city apartment, I recommend using panels for decorating niches, doors and windows.

All structures, with the exception of the ceiling, can be backlit.
The illumination of the latter is not inherent in Gothic and is used only in modern and art deco style.

The Gothic style is characterized by patterns with the image of trifolium, quadrifolium and the Gothic "rose". Use them to decorate furniture, columns and arches.

Of course, where without a fireplace. Finish the monumental portal with sandstone or painted plaster imitating stone. Directly decorate the firebox or false portal with carved wooden elements. And be sure to find a place for Gothic and Celtic ornaments or heraldic emblems.

Country style

The country-style office design is associated with the Russian intelligentsia, American settlers and English lords. Country - it is different, but always rustic and cozy.

The primitive, crude and humble classic North American country will appeal to those who want to create a home office in which nothing would be distracted.

The Scandinavian country is considered more elegant, but the English rustic style is filled with comfort as much as possible due to the use of juicy colors of red wood, noble worn leather, checkered wool blankets.

Southern country is vibrant, detailed and emotional. When developing the interior of the office in the house, you can safely use Indian motives, shades of the desert, prairies and mountains, stylization of things of the Spanish conquistadors.

It would be unfair not to mention French country, which borders on Provence. The main element is the floral mille fleure, which is combined with furniture in pastel colors.

In the rhythm of ethno

Ethnic style presupposes the most individual approach to interior design, since several directions fall under this concept, here you have hot Africa, and captivating India, and conservative Japan.

For those who prefer minimalism and conservatism, open spaces and poise in design, I suggest paying attention to, which, by the way, is the most common among ethnic ones.

Japanese style is followed by African style with sunny bright colors and exotic motives.

The Mediterranean style is sunny, bright and colorful, distinguished by a riot of colors. Mandatory design elements are natural wall decoration and stained glass.

Old lady england

It's time to go to visit the Queen of England, where conservatism and tradition rule.

The English style is hard to imagine without:

  • an abundance of furniture;
  • a large number of decorative elements - figurines and vases;
  • floral ornaments in upholstery and curtains;
  • natural wood finishes;
  • a corner with books or a wall with a massive bookcase;
  • textiles and draperies.

Instructions for arranging an office in the English style:

Recommendations
Colors Choose a noble and discreet color range: brown, muted red, ocher, dark green. From the light palette, cream and ivory are worthy of attention.
Furniture If possible, furniture should be made of natural wood with brass inserts. Choose leather and velvet for upholstery.

The highlight of the interior can be:

  • a mahogany armchair with a carved back and curved legs;
  • massive oak bookcases;
  • Chesterfield sofa;
  • "Eared" chairs with projections on the backs;
  • fireplace, decorative or real.
Decor
  • table or grandfather clock;
  • paintings in frames of natural wood;
  • porcelain figurines;
  • wooden boxes.
Finishing For the floor, I recommend using a parquet board or imitation from a laminate; be sure to lay a carpet on top.

In wall decoration, wood panels, wallpaper with floral patterns or stripes, as well as their combination are often used.

The ceiling can be classic white, but it must necessarily have stucco elements in the center and around the perimeter.

Empire style

Empire style is the style that requires large areas for implementation, therefore it is suitable for mansions, spacious houses, cottages. Its very concept assumes wide, large windows and high ceilings.

Empire style is a combination of palace splendor and military severity, therefore marble statues, gilding, rich furniture decor, a fireplace, paintings and frescoes, military and heraldic symbols: crossed blades and laurel wreaths are frequent "guests" in it.

When decorating an office with your own hands, focus on symmetry and conciseness.

Wall decoration. Use not just expensive, but luxurious materials: velvet, silk, satin, Venetian plaster or silk wallpaper. Adherents of wallpaper can safely choose a strict ornament, military symbols, a panoramic view of ruins, African forests, valleys.

The lower part of the walls is often decorated with natural stone panels. Pilasters, frescoes, stucco moldings, columns, bas-reliefs, medallions and arches are used as wall decor.

Floor finishing. The flooring should organically emphasize the atmosphere of the office, so choose natural materials such as granite or marble. Mosaics with Greco-Roman motifs can be made from tiles or stones.

The ceiling often remains classic white or decorated with paintings of antique themes. If you plan to install a tensioning system, choose an ivory matte canvas.

The main distinguishing feature of the furniture is monumentality, so the chosen set must necessarily have a low fit and even a certain squat. It is preferable to use natural wood of red, satin, rosewood, oak, beech, walnut.

It is not comfort that comes to the fore, but the "royal" appearance of the furnishings: majestic, hard chairs, strict wardrobes, round low secretaries and tables, narrow sideboards, a chest of drawers decorated with columns, figurines of ancient gods or animals.

Lighting is provided by massive crystal chandeliers, metal multi-track chandeliers with gilded and bronze bases. Additionally, lamps and sconces are mounted, stylized as candles and oil lamps.

Keeping pace with the times - hi-tech

Hi-tech is a style in which the emphasis is on technology, ergonomics and modernity. That is why you will not see multilayer curtains, expensive furniture and an abundance of decor in such an office.

The working mood is created by light shades and original futuristic furniture. Despite the abundance of plastic, glass and metal, high-tech cabinets can be cozy. I'll try to prove it to you.

To keep the room cozy, give preference to soft warm colors: light orange, light gray and pistachio. You can safely throw black and white into the color cauldron.

For wall decoration, plastic glossy panels or paints are used. Installation of 3-D volumetric panels would be an excellent solution.

The first violin in the furniture symphony is a table of a strict laconic form, combining elements of glass and metal. Cabinets and racks should be open or have glass doors.

Industrial aesthetics - loft

It is worth choosing this style if the room set aside for the office has large enough windows. A free layout is created over a large area, limited only by visual zoning, implemented in the decoration of the walls, ceiling and floor.

Brick, rough plaster, concrete, plywood, open communications, rafters, ceiling beams and wiring are all inherent in industrial urbanism.

Open space requires mandatory zoning of space, for this I recommend using an open transverse rack, which will not only store useful things, but also serve as a partition.

Such a simple technique will allow you to separate the bedroom, living room or kitchen, to create the concept of "house in the house" described above.

Be Popular - Pop Art

Pop art is the choice of creative people who are not afraid of flashiness and flamboyance. And the point here is not only in the color scheme, but also in the accessories, the appearance of which borders on the concept of shocking.

Style with all its principles is opposed to modernism and conservatism. The emphasis is on the abundance of color, the use of acidic paints, decoration with prints, collages, images of famous personalities and recognizable advertising elements.

More often, the floor and ceiling are glossy neutral shades that do not focus on themselves. You can consider the option of a multi-level backlit ceiling.

For the floor, it is acceptable to use parquet, tiles, carpet and even self-leveling floor.

Choosing pop art, do not allow the cabinet to be oversaturated with furniture, give up massive wardrobes, preferring built-in niches. Furniture should have streamlined, flowing lines.

It can be round plastic or glass tables, soft ottomans and armchairs upholstered in leather or bright colored fabric, glossy plastic chairs of a fancy design and intricate shape.

Use hand-made items as accessories. A particularly interesting technique is the duplication of one image in different colors and sizes and its repetition in the decoration of furniture and decor.

Plastic photo frames, modern bizarre vases, metal and chrome elements, multicolored textiles, skins of bright unusual colors, fluffy carpets - put it all in a “compote” and cook pop art.

Mini-cabinet

It is good if you are equipping an office in a private house and can afford a separate room. What to do for those who are trying to carve out a mini-cabinet for themselves or even not, a mini-corner for work and creativity.

Here are five ideas for a very small area:

  1. Corner. Often, the corners of the rooms are left unused, but in vain. It is here that a small corner table and several wall shelves can find their refuge. Let's see?

  1. Windowsill. If you did not manage to win back the area on the balcony, pay attention to the windowsill. Yes, yes, and it can become a small "cabinet". This solution has a significant advantage - an abundance of natural light.

  1. In the closet. Do not be afraid, we will not lock you in a closet, but we will offer the idea of a cabinet in a closet. For such a solution, you will need a bulky wardrobe, which is most often inherited from your grandmother.

The interior is equipped for personal needs, filled with organizers, a sliding shelf for the keyboard is being built (if you will be working at a computer), the lower shelves are dismantled to free up legroom.

A corner like this goes well with rustic and vintage style.

  1. In a niche. Soviet-style apartments have a lot of awkward niches and storage rooms that can be transformed into a working corner. When arranging, use drywall structures that can create functional open shelves of the required size.

  1. If even for the above ideas there is no room in your apartment, pay attention to portable foldable mini-offices. The compact hinged system in one movement transforms into a convenient table that can be moved if desired.

Output

Brutal, strict, ambitious, inspired, warm, cozy, gigantic and absolutely tiny - your creative office can be anything, but the main thing is that it has a soul and then any work will go well.

And it remains for me to traditionally offer you an interesting video in this article. Voice your questions or ideas in the comments, we will be happy to discuss!

To work well in the office, it is necessary to create an appropriate atmosphere. Your environment should be restrained, tidy and attuned to long-term work. The British are very scrupulous people who are very attentive to their work. Almost every busy person in the house must have a whole room for an office. If you also decide to equip a piece of an apartment or house as an office, then make it in the English style.

Features of the English style

The English style has evolved in Britain over the centuries. The beginning of the formation of this style is attributed by professionals to the 18th century, when more attention began to be paid to decoration. Naturally, at that time such offices, maintained in accordance with all the rules, could only be afforded by aristocrats and the nobility. Today the English style is easily recognizable, it embodies restraint and aristocracy. Such offices look calm, sophisticated and very solid.

What is the peculiarity of the style? Rooms look monochromatic and even monochrome. The English style is, first of all, a large amount of high-quality wood, usually of a dark tone. Paintings, graceful candlesticks, hunting trophies, heavy textiles - all these are integral features of the English style. If we are talking about the interior of the office, then it must necessarily contain a sufficient number of bookcases with good and presentable books.

If you want to dilute the interior, you can add some porcelain, crystal, hang or put a good old clock, and even place musical instruments.

Furniture, as a rule, is also presentable - sofas and armchairs with "ears" - armrests that twist under themselves will look good. By the way, sofas should be leather, although some other options using wood and textiles are acceptable.

What materials are preferred

The English style is very consistent and looks solid. For this reason, expensive and high-quality materials are used in interior decoration. As we have already said, first of all, it is worth paying attention to the abundance of wood. Wood can be seen everywhere - wooden furniture, wooden walls, parquet floors, coffered ceilings, which are also made of wood, wooden sculptures and decorative elements. A good environment will have to go broke, since only high-quality wood is suitable for the English style.

The walls are pasted over with heavy textured ones that look rich, but not too chic, or wood sheathing. You can dilute the look with cornices, moldings and pilasters. In general, walls can be made multi-level.

The floors can be installed with parquet or with floorboards. Carpets with soothing colors are acceptable. It is better to give up drawings in favor of monotonous options. The carpet itself, like carpets, must be solid and solid, do not be stingy. In the English style, it is allowed to use an expensive tile, but for an office it is not the best option.

As for fabrics, you should pay attention to damask, chintz, velvet and other similar fabrics that have noble textures. Unlike carpets, the fabric can be patterned.

There is a place in the office and gilding. It can be used as you like - you can insert pictures into gilded frames, or you can choose wallpaper with a gilded pattern.

Be careful: gilding should not overload the interior.

For the cabinet, one of the most desirable materials is leather. and armchairs are a good addition to the interior, and it looks stylish and presentable. It is not afraid to take your business partners and dear guests to such an office.

Color spectrum

The color combinations of the English style are very modest. As you might guess, the basic color is brown and its various shades. In addition, noble colors of dark shades look good, for example, terracotta colors, red, burgundy and even fuchsia. In the office, various dark variations of green will look great - pistachio, emerald, dark green, malachite.

Interesting: psychologists believe that green helps to focus and has a beneficial effect on both study and work.

If you want to highlight your wealth, then you can use colors golden, bronze, yellow and orange. A neutral color that can dilute the atmosphere is beige and its shades.

The English style can look heavy due to the abundance of dark colors, but it should be so. It is rather difficult to meet classrooms designed in the English style and in light colors, since the line between this style and the other can become very thinner. A dark color is more noble and solid, therefore it has more success among adherents of style.

English style furniture

The English classics are slender forms, confidence and clarity of lines. Symmetry is encouraged. Catchy and even outrageous things can in no way be attributed to the English style. The raw materials are only the best. Stone, wood, some metal are all permissible. Cheap knockoffs should be put aside.

The texture of the furniture should be varied and not too flashy. The furniture may have embossed elements that make the atmosphere even more chic and rich without going overboard.

Sofas and armchairs can have "ears", which are curled up armrests, which we have already mentioned. In general, such furniture should be made of good leather and be very comfortable and soft. Its textile fragments are quite large, and small decorative pillows will not look the best in the office, so they should be discarded. Cabinets should be with transparent glass, which can be decorated with some pattern. We recommend placing books in neat and beautiful rows in cabinets.

Who is the English style for?

Many can dream of a beautiful office, but how do you know that this style is right for you? You just need to think carefully. The English style will suit you if you:

  • Do not be afraid to spend a lot of money to create a presentable environment due to really high-quality furniture and finishing materials;
  • Have a free room with enough free space to place your office there;

  • You have a good job and from time to time bring dear guests, business partners or clients to your home. Your office will surely make a good impression on them and will assure them that it is profitable to cooperate with you and your business is clearly going uphill;
  • Do not like various ruffles and excesses, prefer severity and brevity;
  • Do not want to make a "light" and light office for inspiration and creativity. The English style is more suitable for businessmen and those people who actively work with various papers.
  • Do not be afraid that repairs can take a lot of time and require significant changes, as is often the case;
  • Just love England and love it when your home looks good and solid.

The English style was formed for a very long time and is still in vogue among wealthy people, thanks to its brevity and severity. In such offices, it works well, the atmosphere is collected and comfortable. It will be a pleasure to hold meetings at home, as clients and partners will surely be impressed by your interior. The English style is ideal for those who just want to improve their affairs a little and fully focus on work.

Video about the interior in the English style

The classic English style is still the most popular for home office decoration. The play of fire in the fireplace, deep comfortable armchairs, an abundance of wood, soft cozy light, shelves with books - the design in the English style seems to transfer to the works of Arthur Conan Doyle. There is no place for hustle and bustle here. Practicality and conservatism are what British Style is. Therefore, it is the best fit for - a place in which you need to focus on tasks as much as possible and think rationally.

Typical features of the interior of the office in the English style

An English-style office in an apartment or house looks restrained, but at the same time luxurious. Here are its main features.

  • Natural expensive materials, in particular, wood species.
  • Antique items that blend seamlessly with modern ones.
  • Symmetry, regular shapes and proportions.
  • A limited amount of decor.
  • Brown color scheme interspersed with shades of green, red, white, rarely blue. Floral designs by William Morris.
  • Lavish traditional furnishings.

English style is difficult to confuse with any other. He creates an absolutely unique atmosphere of calmness, prompts for reasoning and philosophizing. People who value orderliness and thoughtfulness often create not only the design of the office, but also the whole.

Finishing in the English style

Cabinet ceiling in English style always gorgeous. If the height of the ceiling permits, multi-level wooden caissons, beams and ceilings are used. Stucco molding is also acceptable. Ceiling plinths are required - wood or plaster. Sometimes the choice is made on a modern suspended or suspended ceiling in a neutral color, in which case it is decorated with large beautiful chandeliers.

Cabinet walls in English style most often covered with wallpaper. Common print options wallpaper for the office in the English style:

  • ornaments by William Morris;
  • cage or strip;
  • oriental patterns.

Less commonly, plain wallpaper is used.

Often, wallpaper is combined with wood panels decorated with carvings.

Other materials for finishing the walls of the "English" study include decorative plaster and paint.

Usually dark, sometimes the base color is beige. Parquet, marble, porcelain stoneware are used as materials.

How to save money on repairing an English-style office?

The English style is one of the most expensive, but modern building materials allow you to save money without significant damage to the appearance:

  • veneered MDF panels are used instead of natural wood panels;
  • wooden or plaster skirting boards are replaced with inexpensive polyurethane skirting boards;
  • a laminate is stolen on the floor;
  • they refuse expensive decorative plaster in favor of paintable wallpaper with imitation of old plaster.

The specialists of the studio La Primavera are good at choosing economical options, while all the materials go to customers with a discount of up to 20%.

English style furniture

Furniture plays a significant role in the interior of the office in the English style. Built-in wardrobes all the way to the ceiling, Chesterfield sofas, armchairs with high backs, rough massive desks are all important details of English design.

Features of furniture in the English style:

  • upholstery of upholstered furniture with leather or dense fabric (velor, damask, linen, etc.) in a cage, stripes or with floral prints;
  • dark wood as the main material, no plastic;
  • furniture fittings (locks, hinges) made of copper or bronze;
  • decor with carvings, relief elements.

All furniture has symmetrical shapes, and is evenly placed in the room.

Office decor in English style

There are not very many decorative details in the "English" office and they all blend harmoniously with the surrounding environment:

  • textiles: curtains made of dense heavy fabrics with a complex cut - with hooks and lambrequins; carpets with ornaments that repeat the pattern on curtains, wallpaper or furniture;
  • symmetrically arranged lamps: luxurious chandeliers, sconces, table lamps;
  • hunting trophies, vases, wooden striking clocks, paintings painted in the classical manner, etc.

The fireplace also serves as a decoration. If it is impossible to establish the real one, you can buy an imitation.

Very often an English-style study is combined with a library. Books in attractive bindings add extra charm to the setting. When creating an office-library in the English style, it is important to think over areas for work, reading, rest and storage of books. Zoning in such conditions is usually carried out with the help of light, furniture arrangement, decor (for example, a rug). Everyone who works from home dreams of an office. With a functional work desk in a common room, over time you have to realize that you can truly concentrate only behind a closed door. People of different professions, tastes and views have their own idea of personal space. Some arrange business meetings, their office should look presentable, others like to travel and surround themselves with ethnic things from different countries. Creative individuals need to hide from the world and be alone with themselves.

Peculiarities

If the living area allows you to allocate a room for a full-fledged study, its design should be taken seriously. The correct design organization affects the workflow, and therefore, material wealth. When designing a home office, all efforts should be directed towards achieving the main goal - maximum work productivity.

There are some rules to keep in mind:

  • The setting should not distract from work. If there are no special preferences, it is better to choose a simple and modern style (minimalism, hi-tech).
  • Comfort is the key to a full-fledged workflow. No matter how original the style, if the owner does not feel comfortable, the goal will not be achieved, and the situation will have to be changed.

  • A minimum set of furniture (table, chair, rack or shelves, lighting sources) is required for any office. The additions to the furnishings will depend on the specifics of the owner's work. A writer, banker, accountant, teacher, and lawyer have different ideas about the workplace.
  • Correct placement of the desktop. Make the most of natural light. The sun's rays should not blind the monitor. For a right-handed person, the location of the window to the left will be the most acceptable option. This rule also applies to a table lamp.
  • Work equipment must be positioned so that everything is at hand, but at some distance.
  • Good relaxation will allow you to continue working with great enthusiasm. Take care of a practical sofa. For example, leather furniture looks respectable and easy to maintain.

  • The color of the cabinet is chosen according to the style. If the working moment is important, calm, cold shades are necessary for concentration. Bright colors will help activate the creative process. Comfort lovers prefer warm, soft colors.
  • You need to take care of the little things. Convenient calendar, organizer on the table, waste basket - invisible helpers in your work. For some, a coffee machine or a globe bar can become an integral part of the office.

Styles and design

Interior design styles can be divided into three main groups: classic (historical), ethnic, and modern.

  • The historical group is made up of trends that have been tested by time and have come down to our contemporaries: empire, baroque, retro, classicism, gothic style.
  • Modern styles include urban (urban), industrial, eco-fusion, loft, minimalism, modern, hi-tech.
  • Ethnic styles are considered in a national vein, they are associated with the themes of different countries: English, Provence, Scandinavian, Japanese, American, Italian, European.

In addition to the main directions, there are mixed styles. connected within one space.

These include fusion, kitsch, eclecticism, Victorian style.

Colonial style emerged at the end of the 17th century, when seafarers discovered new lands and brought exotic things. This trend has combined various ethnic styles, it contains elements of the marine, hunting, oriental themes.

Countryside country style has long gone beyond the American theme and combined a Swiss chalet, French Provence and other rural interiors.

Having understood the style, it is easier to understand which direction is better to choose for the design of the office.

English

When it comes to offices, prim Englishmen are the first to come to mind. Their style was formed over several centuries and contributed to the development of two directions: geographical and Victorian, but for most people there is a single concept of the English style.

An interior in a similar style is suitable for large rooms and wealthy owners. It is characterized by the presence of large quantities of expensive wood, massive furniture, austerity and aristocratic restraint. Environmentally friendly materials are used, there should be no imitations or fakes.

In the design of the office, you can use coffered wood ceilings and panels, wallpaper of simple colors (green, red, blue) with horizontal lines, oak parquet.

Large natural wood furniture is selected. A two-bollard work table should be solid and come complete with a comfortable chair. Upholstered furniture is preferred in muted green or brown leather.

A crystal chandelier is suitable as a light source and a large table lamp. There should be a little decor, paintings, antique clocks, figurines are acceptable. The windows are usually decorated with heavy curtains. The presence of a fireplace is desirable.

It is appropriate to conduct business negotiations in such an office. It is suitable for people who want to emphasize their wealth, strict aristocracy and good taste.

Neoclassical

Forming and improving, the classic style in our time has transformed into neoclassicism, retaining the right to a luxurious interior.

This is the safest option for an office. Unlike gloomy English premises, neoclassicism often uses light colors. Natural calm textures of decoration and furniture are conducive to the work process.

For the office, they choose a large solid table, a leather director's chair. Cases, shelves and other furniture are available in both light and dark colors. The room can be supplemented with discreet paintings, respectable clocks, expensive stationery sets and versatile lighting.

This style was created for self-sufficient people who understand a lot about business.

Minimalism

This modern masculine style appeared in the sixties of the last century. A cabinet of this kind consists of simple (but not cheap) furniture of standard geometric shapes with no frills. It is usually functional and elegant.

Monochrome finishes are used, or a maximum of two colors in the interior. Black and white photographs on the walls or paintings in the same tone are acceptable. There should be no creative mess on the table, everything should be kept in drawers and blank pencil cases.

Colonial

Mixed style of different ethnic backgrounds. It appeared during the colonization of the black continent by the British. The exoticism was built into the English interior, forming a peculiar style.

Colonial-style office design is suitable for geographers and travel lovers, who from each trip bring amazing decor items: African masks, mahogany figurines, sea shells, animal skins and horns. They fill the shelves of numerous shelves.

In such an office there may be many books, a map or a large globe, furniture made of wood and rattan.

Sometimes the room is combined with a winter garden, which contains tropical plants.

Provence

The style came to us from the south of France and has become almost the most popular among modern designers. He personifies the measuredness and comfort of a leisurely village life. His idea is based on the harmony of the sea coast and flowering lavender fields. The same colors are used in the interior: blue, lavender, milky.

The floor in the office should be bleached oak or other light woods. Provence-style walls are plastered. The desk is made of artificially aged wood, the armchair is covered with a white cover. This direction does not like technology, it is better to hide it in closed furniture and take it out as needed.

This style is more suitable for romantic people.

Modern

A relatively young style, which features expensive materials and equipment. He does not tolerate clear lines, only smooth free forms are needed. The decoration and materials use motives of flora and fauna. This direction is loyal to other styles and can allow the intervention of classicism, ethnic motives, the main thing is that the main idea dominates.

An office in this style should be spacious, multifunctional and comfortable room with large windows. They buy the best equipment, an expensive and effective desktop. The furniture is mostly modular and not bulky. A cabinet created in the Art Nouveau style should be unique and unrepeatable, as it is formed exclusively for its owner. Modern embodies beauty and comfort.

Baroque

The royal baroque style implies pretentiousness, emphasized chic. Suitable for those who wish to demonstrate their wealth, who like ostentatious luxury.

A baroque cabinet should look like a king. It can only be created in a spacious room. For the floor, choose marble or natural wood. The walls are finished with fabric or expensive wallpaper.

There is a stucco molding on the ceiling. Fireplace and columns are possible. The main color is gold. The furniture is antique, there is a floor clock with a cuckoo. The wooden desk should be large. Tapestries, carpets, figurines are used as decor.

A baroque cabinet is not very conducive to work, but it can show partners the wealth of the owner.

Chalet

The main characteristics of this trend are warmth and comfort. To create a cabinet, you should use natural materials: wood, stone, clay. The chalet loves a lot of air and space; it cannot be created in a cramped room. The office must have a fireplace or at least an imitation of it.

The decor has a crude simplicity with hunting and mountain paraphernalia. The cabinet can be decorated with animal horns, guns, skins, but there is nothing bright and shiny in it. A warm blanket and a live fireplace will make the room cozy and habitable.

Vanguard

The avant-garde was invented at the dawn of the twentieth century, as a denial of all existing styles. The cabinet in this direction should have a non-standard shape, instead of windows and doors - arches and zoning with podiums. The leading colors are red, black and white, contrasts are essential. Finishing requires the latest innovations.

The furniture should look odd to the touch and not contain any decoration. The cabinet will suit extraordinary personalities.

Beautiful examples in the interior

The abundance of styles helps to create a real beautiful cabinet project and save the interior from bad taste.

Consider a few examples of work rooms, made in different directions:

  • Loft-style office. The walls are finished in the form of brickwork and concrete. Furniture - a large spacious table, several shelves and a wardrobe. Diverse lighting, a figurine of a human figure acts as a decor. Everything is laconic and practical.

The English style is restrained and conservative. This is the interior of real aristocrats. Here is the realm of strict luxury, which can be created using only the highest quality materials and furnishings, therefore, a lot of money is always required to reproduce such a decor. In this direction, you can decorate any room in the house, but the most elegant office will look in the English style, where elements inherent in the Gregorian and Victorian eras are intertwined. Once such a tandem was a wonder, but today it is already considered a classic.

And what, in fact, will characterize the presence of the English style in the interior? First of all, notes of unobtrusive luxury, restraint of the atmosphere and a certain solemnity of the atmosphere. Everything that will be present in the office must be imbued with the spirit of England.

The material for decorating cabinet walls is often fabric. By tradition, it may be attended by:

  1. Vertical stripes.
  2. Original floral motives.
  3. Gilding.

Most of the furnishings are wood and textiles.

As for the decor, I would like to note that there will be a fireplace in the office in the English style. The ceiling will be decorated with stucco moldings, and the floor will be covered with parquet or marble. The atmosphere of such a room will always have the spirit of antiquity, which will be supported by unusual cornices, woolen carpets and shields on keyholes. All these decorative elements are usually made with incredible chic, therefore they perfectly complement the overall picture.

crimson curtains - a bright accent in the office in the English style

Pictures on the walls of the office will not be superfluous. The work of the impressionists, canvases on the sports theme are perfect. Modern painting is also appropriate in such an exquisite room, the main thing is that its plots should be on classical themes. The window area can be decorated with Roman, Austrian or London types of curtains. Also, in a room decorated in the English direction, there is always a lot of brocade, silk and heavy fabrics from the taffeta or reps series.

In the classical sense of an English-style study, there is a library area, so you will need to purchase a strictly symmetrical rack, decorated with carved inlay, or order shelves made of precious wood.

In addition to books, documents are often stored in home offices. It is very convenient to do this in the file thumbnail. Place this piece of furniture in the work area, next to the table. Thus, you will always have access to the necessary papers. It is necessary to make a comfortable reading corner in the office, equipping it with a soft sofa, a coffee table and a classic sconce. Ideally, the sofa is covered with a beautiful embroidered slipcover.

Expendable materials

The English style does not tolerate glass, metal, plastic and other types of cutting-edge finishing materials. Here, almost everything is done in wood. In the office, decorated in the English style, not only furniture can be wooden... This material is used to make floor beams, wall panels, flooring and various decorative accessories. Stucco molding is another obligatory attribute of an exquisite decor.

As you understand, all consumables have a rather high cost and it is not so easy to find a way to reduce the cost of interior decoration, because the canons cannot be violated in the English style. Except that you can replace the plaster stucco molding with polyurethane decor, and instead of gilding, use gold leaf. In this case, you will notice a significant difference in price.

leather furniture as one of the main attributes of a classic cabinet

Sometimes designers go to extremes and replace the wooden ceiling with a clever imitation made from pressed cardboard. This surface is decorated with oil paints.

The floors in the office are lined with:

  1. Parquet.
  2. Marble.
  3. Solid wood boards.
  4. Natural stone.

An alternative to these chic materials can only be porcelain stoneware, which can perfectly imitate any of the above materials and is significantly cheaper.

The main thing that attracts the eye of those entering the office is stylish upholstered furniture. The wooden part of the sofas and armchairs is always treated with wax, and the highest quality natural and very soft leather is used for the upholstery of the seats and backs. Sometimes it turns out that it is furniture that becomes the main expense when decorating a room in the English style.

In addition to leather, velor, linen or cotton fabrics can be used in the decoration of armchairs, and not always monochromatic. They may well have a pattern in the form of patterns, cells or classic stripes.

a massive writing desk will emphasize the English style of the office

The most unique piece of furniture in the office is the desk. This is always an expensive, sometimes antique thing. Today, as well as many years ago, such tables are made of solid oak.

Mass production of such furniture is unprofitable, because the cost of production is incredibly high, which automatically translates furnishings for an English-style office into the category of luxury furniture.

There is also a trend towards chic in the color scheme. Wenge color, coffee tones, chocolate and dark brown shades that can contrast with ivory and light beige look luxurious in this decor.

Game of contrasts

Wanting to get the effect of solemnity, you should still not give preference to exclusively dark tones in color design, no matter how noble they are. Even with a certain gloom inherent in English interiors, this will be a clear overkill. Contrasting decors will look much more effective. Try to make only one of the walls in a dark design, and leave the rest in the power of light colors. The same should be done with a dark floor covering - it must be set off with a light carpet.

Parts and accessories

There must be curtains on the windows of the office in the English style. Not blinds, not roller blinds, not Roman models, but real curtains made of heavy and, of course, solid materials. Only they will be able to create the necessary darkening in the room at the height of a sunny day, which designers call the "night effect".
