Sandwich panels for window slopes: how to mount, features, recommendations. Finishing slopes with sandwich panels Convert from sandwich panels to a window

Sandwich panels are increasingly being used because the material is light in weight, easy to maintain and resistant to stress.

Sandwich panels for slopes of plastic windows - a finishing material that includes three layers.

Characteristics and features of the material

A couple of layers consist of plastic, the third, inner layer is insulation. Such panels are used in construction almost everywhere, any work can be done, but there are some differences, which lies in the insulation used.

Panel insulation is most often mineral wool. Sandwich design is ideal to install it on the slope of the window, the material does not let in extraneous noise, cold, due to which the window will keep warm in the house. The characteristics of the panels do not end there, because mold, fungus do not appear on them, they are not subject to temperature changes. A sandwich panel can be made of different materials, which is on the outside, more details in the table:

Material: Description:
Galvanized steel: Installation of panels is easy, operation is simple. Not used for windows.
Aluzinc: It is extremely rarely used for windows, due to the fact that the view of the window will be spoiled.
Drywall: Suitable for creating panels on slopes. It is easy to use in work, the slopes will look beautiful.
Plastisol: Durable material, since the panels contain special additives that make the panel stronger. Not exposed to destruction due to weather conditions, resistant to mechanical damage. The composition is without toxins, which means that it is possible to install sandwich panels of this type for window slopes, both inside and outside.
Polyvinyl chloride or polypropylene: Most often used to create a sandwich panel, ideal for window slopes.

Important! It is convenient to sheathe a window with such material, because PVC panels are produced in different colors, they use white material or under a tree.

Advantages of plastic sandwich panels for window slopes

The main advantage of the panels is 100% resistance to moisture, which means that there will be no mold and fungus on the slopes, and condensation will not appear on the window. Comparing drywall and sandwich panels, plastic sheets are easier to install, the installation process is easy, and there is almost no debris during operation.

Facing does not require special care, it will be enough to wash the surface when necessary and that's it. The installation work does not require a special tool, a standard set and a knife or jigsaw will suffice, which can be used to cut and saw the material. The cost of funds for the slope is minimal, the cost of the panels is acceptable, given the advantages of the material.

Preparatory work

After dismantling wooden windows and installing metal-plastic windows, it is necessary to prepare the surface for the slope of the sandwich panels. You need to do the work step by step, the preparation instructions are as follows:

  1. The wall is smeared with an antifungal agent.
  2. The mounting foam that interferes is cut off, if necessary, the slots can be foamed and then cut off the remaining foam.
  3. The frame is measured, you need to put points along the perimeter, retreating from the edge by 5 mm. 2-3 dots are drawn on each side. After that, a level is put to them and everything is connected. The lines must be in a plane.
  4. The dimensions of the opening are taken at the top and bottom. By the way, during preparation, you can also insulate the window sill. Warming will make the house warm and cozy.

Do-it-yourself preparation of slopes from sandwich panels is finished, now you need to install the system on the window.

Installation of slopes from sandwich panels

The installation of window slopes from sandwich panels is correctly carried out as follows:

  • Preparing the material that needs to veneer the window. In the course of work, the application will require: starting profile, finishing profile, casing, foam, silicone or sealant.
  • Further, everything is carefully measured again, the data is transferred to the mount (profile). The profile should be cut to size and then installed around the perimeter of the window with self-tapping screws. The step width is 15-20 cm.
  • Now the slope depth and other element parameters are taken in order to transfer the data to the panel. Sheathing is cut with cutting tools.

  • All the cracks that are on the slope must be filled with foam, only after that the installation of slopes from sandwich panels begins.
  • The panel is placed in the starting profile, it will guide the rest of the cutting. The material is level.
  • The trim should be fixed with tape or with a support rail.
  • Similarly, you should fix the panels around the entire window and stick adhesive tape on them.
  • If the gap between the panel and the wall is large, the thickness allows, then the technology provides for the insertion of mineral wool.
  • The outer casing is cut to the height of the window and made slightly longer than the opening, by the width of the casing.
  • A plastic trim is put on the panel, in accordance with the dimensions.

  • Making the right angles, they will need to cut the upper part of the casing at 45 degrees, and then fasten it at the top. The plastic corner should match at the edges. The vertical side is done in the same way.
  • At the end, the seams are sealed, which will keep street noise and cold, preventing them from entering the house. Silicone is used for this. The platbands themselves should be smeared around the perimeter and glued to the slope.

This finishes the slopes with sandwich panels. A detailed technical process is presented in the video at the end of the article. A sample of how to trim a window can be found on the Internet in the photo. Installation of PVC sandwich panels for slopes is an easy process, the most convenient and good for people with no experience in plastering. Knowing the peculiarity of the material and the rules of how to install a slope, you can veneer everything yourself.

Hi all! In this article, let's talk a little about finishing the window block after installing a double-glazed window. Namely, about finishing slopes with plastic sandwich panels.

This is a fairly budgetary, versatile and pretty way to finish, which even a housewife can do.

Windows must fully perform their functions. A comfortable microclimate in the house is created after high-quality sound and heat insulation of window structures.

To achieve this goal, windows are installed. How to make slopes on plastic windows? It is very simple - you can do this work yourself, or you can attract the help of professionals.

Slopes are the inner walls of the niche of the window opening. Finishing with various materials or plastering internal and external slopes is an integral part of window installation. The opinion that, by foaming the window, you solved the issue of thermal insulation of the house, is erroneous.

Foam, not protected by slopes, quickly gains moisture, then it is destroyed. Slopes not only provide the room with the necessary insulation, but also give the window a finished look.

The design of the whole house or apartment depends on the aesthetic appearance of the window opening. The slopes also protect the installation seams, which prevents the windows from fogging up.

Varieties of finishing slopes for plastic windows

The list of basic services of companies installing metal-plastic windows includes measurement, installation and. Further, the customer independently decides what slopes will be.

There are several types of them:

  • plastering;
  • drywall;
  • plastic;
  • metal;
  • from foam;
  • wooden.

Let's take a closer look at the most common of them.

Plaster slopes

The device of these slopes takes place in several stages. To increase the setting, the surface is first treated with a primer.

Then several layers of plaster are applied, each of which must be allowed to dry.

Plaster is the cheapest, but ineffective way of finishing slopes, since the lack of heat-insulating properties of this finish leads to hypothermia and further fogging of windows.

The plaster is applied using a mesh, and the gap between the window and the plaster must be sealed with silicone.

Plasterboard slopes

When properly installed, drywall slopes will delight you with quality, aesthetic appearance and durability. Competent insulation with mineral wool or foam will create high thermal insulation properties of slopes.

After installation, drywall is primed and puttied. The paint is applied last after the previous layers have dried. Remember, drywall is very afraid of moisture. Therefore, they are not recommended to finish the outer slopes of PVC windows, but you can install such slopes on the balcony if it is glazed and insulated.

Finishing window slopes with plastic is the most versatile option. Ease of installation, structural reliability, high noise and heat insulation qualities, combined with an attractive appearance are the main advantages of not only internal, but also external plastic slopes.

Sheet plastic slopes are often replaced with sandwich panels. Installing slopes from this material is an excellent option for facing the sides of window openings.

The three-layer panel consists of two external decorative layers made of plastic and an internal insulation. Extruded polystyrene foam is used as an internal heat-insulating layer.

The big advantage of this material is the huge choice of color shades. It will not be difficult to choose a panel for any color of the window. The structure of sandwich panels is very similar to the surface of plastic windows, so additional decoration of plastic slopes is not required.

To carry out the installation of slopes from sandwich panels with your own hands, it is enough to have a desire, but rather a little experience in carrying out these works and following the technological instructions. The purchase of sandwich panels almost ready-made will greatly speed up and simplify their installation.

PVC foam panels are also used to finish window slopes. Due to the porous structure, this material creates additional thermal insulation of the room, does not deform from temperature changes and does not exfoliate from prolonged heating. Let us consider in more detail the independent installation of PVC slopes on plastic windows.

Do-it-yourself installation of PVC slopes

Like all construction work, the installation of plastic slopes begins with preliminary preparation, during which the materials and tools necessary for this work are acquired.

What materials and improvised tools are needed:

  • Plastic for slopes with a thickness of at least 8 mm.
  • U-shaped starting strip made of plastic.
  • F-shaped plastic profile.
  • Insulation material: mineral wool, polyurethane foam.
  • Wooden rail.
  • Drill for self-tapping screws.
  • Building level.
  • Roulette.
  • Putty knife.
  • cement mortar.
  • Self-tapping screws are long - 95 mm, self-tapping bugs - 4.5 mm.
  • Painting knife.
  • Silicone sealant.
  • Metal scissors.
  • Construction stapler.

If during the installation of a metal-plastic window, cracks form from the side of the street, they must be sealed with cement mortar. This procedure is necessary to close the mounting foam from the sun's harmful rays and seal the external mounting joints.

As a rule, repairs in an apartment begin with the replacement of old and subsequent installation of slopes for new plastic windows.

There are several options. In this article, we will consider how to make slopes from sandwich panels with your own hands. The photographs shown in the article clearly reflect the course of action.

Preparation for work

To install plastic slopes from sandwich panels, you will need:

  • sandwich panel;
  • "P" profile (starting);
  • "F" profile (slope cover);
  • liquid plastic (optional);
  • roulette;
  • sharp knife;
  • self-tapping screws 2.5x7mm;
  • screwdriver, drill or screwdriver.

Using a tape measure, you need to measure the length and width of the slopes. Taking into account these data, three strips are cut out of the sandwich panel: the top (parallel to the window sill) and two side strips.

One nuance: if it is planned to finish only one slope in a panel house, then in order to reduce costs, strips of the required sizes can be purchased from the seller without buying a whole sandwich panel sheet.

With a sharp knife, the excess layer of mounting foam is carefully cut off along the perimeter of the plastic window block. It should be borne in mind that the work is carried out after the foam has completely dried, that is, at least a day must pass from the moment the window was replaced.

Fasteners "P" profile

The starting profile is cut according to the size of the slopes, resembling the letter P in a section. It is fastened with self-tapping screws exactly along the edge of the window profile.

The distance between the screws is approximately 10-15 cm. In this case, first of all, the profile should be installed at the top, while the side elements are brought close to the top, leaving no gaps.

Nuance: it is possible to install slopes using a sandwich panel without using a starting profile. In this case, the strips of sandwich panels are brought close to the window profile 1 cm deep with step-by-step foaming of the niche to fix the slope. This process is more time consuming than using the "P" profile, but the result is more aesthetic.

Installation of sandwich panel strips

The top panel is inserted into the starting profile already fixed with screws.

After that, 4 more parts of the starting profile are cut off, the length of which is determined by the width of the slopes. The segments are brought into the side starting profile at the top and bottom on both sides, fixed with self-tapping screws to the top of the sandwich panel and to the window sill, respectively.

Nuance: most masters specializing in these types of finishing work exclude this stage. In this case, the strips of sandwich panels are simply adjacent to the top strip and to the window sill.

The gap at the joints is closed with a special tool - liquid plastic, which, when hardened, acquires the same characteristics as ordinary plastic. There are also negligent workers who use ordinary sealant, and after a short time the slopes lose their appearance: the joints treated with sealant darken and become dirty.

Either of these two methods reduces the time of work and the consumption of materials, and has its supporters and opponents. Therefore, the choice of option is a matter of taste.

Similarly, the process of working with the panel on the other side is completed. As a result, the plastic slope is almost ready, and it remains only to give the appearance of the outer cuts.

The last stage of installation of slopes from sandwich panels

To give a finished look to the plastic slope, use the "F" profile, or as it is also called, the slope cover.

The profile is cut into strips of the desired length, based on the following calculations: slope length + profile width for the side parts and slope length + 2 profile widths for the upper slope.

It is advisable to leave the length longer than required, since in the end the excess will still be cut off, but the lack of even one centimeter will require a complete rework.

With the help of a ruler and a pencil, a cut line is outlined, along which the excess edging is cut off. The result is neat right angles.

Nuance: For many slope installers, this is the final step. However, it is preferable to fill the niches between the sandwich panels and the wall with mounting foam. To do this, the "F" profile prepared for installation is temporarily dismantled.

The voids are filled with foam, the next day the excess is carefully cut off, and the slope covers (“F” profile) are returned to their places. Thus, additional heat and sound insulation is created in the apartment.

Window slopes made of sandwich panels are a three-layer panel in which two outer layers are decorative plastic, and the inner one is insulation (polystyrene foam).

The material that is used as a heater can be of two types - free-foam or extruded polystyrene foam.

The plastic used for cladding sandwich panels has a large selection of colors, so it will not be difficult to choose a panel to match the color of your window. Plastic sandwich panels are considered the most optimal choice for facing window slopes.

With such a finish, a wooden window will look attractive, it will not freeze even in severe frost, and condensation will not accumulate on the window. Today there are several ways to finish window slopes, and these are considered the most popular: plaster slopes; drywall finishing; slopes from sandwich panels.

And as mentioned above, the last method is the most popular. What is the basis of such popularity? And the answer lies on the surface - the slopes of the sandwich panels have many advantages.

Advantages of window slopes from sandwich panels

  • Thermal insulation - due to the presence of insulation, sandwich panels have good thermal insulation performance;
  • No special tools are required for their installation;
  • Do not rot;
  • Excellent resistance to temperature changes;
  • Durability;
  • Possess soundproofing properties;
  • moisture resistant;
  • With a small weight, excellent strength;
  • Easy to care for - just wipe regularly with a damp cloth.

Like any other finishing material, sandwich panels for slopes also have disadvantages.

Cons of slopes from sandwich panels

  • They do not withstand too high temperatures, while changing color and deforming;
  • With prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays, they may lose their whiteness;
  • It is inconvenient to transport, sandwich panels are produced in large sizes (3 meters by 1.5), so they have to be cut on the spot or ordered for delivery.

Dimensions of sandwich panels for window slopes

Such panels for slopes are produced in several sizes. Panels with a thickness of 10, 24 and 32 mm are considered standard. Individual companies produce sandwich panels with a thickness of 6, 8 or 16 mm. The size of the panels in width and height are as follows - 3 by 1.5 m or 3 by 2 m.

The maximum size of sandwiches is 3 x 2 m, this is due to the dimensions of the plastic sheets produced and the pressing machines on which they are glued.

Stages of installation of slopes from sandwich panels

At the first stage, window slopes are cleaned of dirt and all voids are sealed. Then measurements of the slope and cutting of the panels are made, after which they proceed to installation.

First, the slope is fixed on top of the window, the starting profile “U” or “J” of the form is attached using self-tapping screws.

Then the panel is inserted into the profile with a slight slope. The gap between the jumper and the sandwich panel is filled with mounting foam. With the help of liquid nails, the front part of the slope is attached to the opening. Side window slopes are also mounted.

After installing the slopes from the sandwich panels, your windows will take on a finished look, and the house will delight you with warmth and comfort.

The cost of sandwich panels for window slopes

The price of such panels is quite affordable, so almost everyone can afford window slopes from sandwich panels. One panel measuring 1500 x 3000 x 10 mm will cost an average of 800 - 900 rubles.

If you order the installation of slopes in the company, then the installation of a slope from sandwich panels will cost within 500 rubles per square meter.

Today there is a lot of talk about the dangers of some building materials and one of them is polystyrene. And many try to explain their reluctance to use plastic finishing materials by the fact that it emits substances harmful to health, while drinking water from plastic glasses that have been boiled in a plastic kettle, eating food packed in polyethylene.

Of course, all this is harmful, but we have been living in an environment of plastic for a long time, and therefore it is up to you to install slopes for windows from sandwich panels or not.

How to make slopes from sandwich panels with your own hands

The view of a new building, on the contrary, with empty windows, causes pride in oneself, the window is made by hand, looks beautiful and is made at the level of professionals. It remains to take a deep breath of fresh air from the open window and share knowledge with those who wish.

Why is it necessary to use material with an English title? Why not drywall or PVC plastic strip is chosen for finishing slopes?
Construction technologies are undergoing a kind of evolution and are in constant improvement. New technologies have found application in the manufacture of plastic materials and products from them.
So indispensable for construction are sandwich panels, which have a complex of valuable properties that ensured their demand in the construction market. Standard panels are made from three different materials.
The outer side consists of one-piece sheet PVC of a certain hardness. The inner side is made of sheet polystyrene.
The difference between sandwich panels lies only in the material from which the facing side is made. The interior decoration of the windows with a sandwich panel fits perfectly into the interior of any room.
In the people they are called warm slopes:

  • They are affordable, popular, original and affordable for consumers.
  • They are not just building elements, but are compiled as an independent structure with its own composition.
  • Between the facing sheets there is a heat-insulating layer, located as a filling, as in a sandwich, hence the name of the building material.
  • The material inside the sandwich must be fireproof, so mineral wool or expanded polystyrene foam is used for filling, which makes it possible to obtain non-combustible panels.
  • Sandwich panels are environmentally friendly, and work with them is carried out without the use of additional personal protection.
  • Sandwich panels for finishing window slopes are best used with a thickness of 1 cm.
  • They are suitable for finishing the slopes of wooden and plastic windows (see Finishing the slopes of plastic windows - all the subtleties and rules), if the width of the slopes is from 5 cm to 150 cm.
  • Openings lined with sandwich panels have high heat-insulating properties.
  • Provide additional soundproofing of the room.
  • The operational durability and strength of the material does not require proof, the instructions for use serve as a visual aid.
  • The panels are resistant to moisture, mold and fungus, if the window sill is made without violating the technology and all requirements have been met.

Attention: To ensure the best insulating qualities, it is recommended to mount the window sill and slopes at the same time.

The installation of slopes can be done on the same day as the installation of windows, but it is better to take a break until the next day and allow time for the mounting foam to dry completely.
So:

  • To increase thermal insulation in a room where there is not enough heat from heating appliances, the finishing of window slopes with sandwich panels is equipped with a layer of heat-insulating consumable material.
  • They can serve as polyurethane foam, but in order to obtain the desired insulating qualities, it is necessary to install the slopes and the window sill at the same time, scrolling through the photo and viewing the pictures, you can be sure of the necessity and simultaneity of these actions.
  • The depth of the window seal, its configuration and the cross-section of window openings are diverse in shape and size. Practical ways of fixing plastic panels to the wall have been worked out.
    Fastening with dowels the end of the panel to the base of the slopes and the subsequent processing of these ends and other fasteners with decorative corners.
  • The joints between the panel and the window and window sill are treated with a neutral sealant or a PVC-based adhesive, known as "liquid plastic", is used. Their advantage over silicone sealant is that their lack of a sticky consistency prevents the seams from turning yellow and fouling over time.

What is the advantage over other finishes

Few people are attracted by such an offer as plastering the internal slopes of the window. You just need to imagine dust, dirt, wet hands, a floor covered with mortar, kneading the mortar in small quantities, because it dries quickly.
Working with drywall also requires building skills and painting work, it is a completely different matter when finishing slopes with sandwich panels. It is not much different from finishing with plastic panels, which is why these two types of work are so popular.
Ease of care, which consists in keeping them clean with ordinary detergents and only, they practically do not require repair. Very simple installation technique.

Stylish slopes on a window made of sandwich panels

Before proceeding with the installation of sandwich panels, it is necessary to prepare materials and consumables:

  • Measure the height and width of the window opening to determine the length of the starting profile and sandwich panels, as well as determine their width.
  • According to the measurements taken, the starting profile is cut off and the protective tape is removed from the window frame.
  • The cut off starting profile is attached to the frame with 8.5 mm self-tapping screws every 150 mm, starting from the edge.
  • The sandwich panels are marked and cut according to the taken dimensions. The speed of cutting and the cleanliness of the cut are achieved by using an electric jigsaw.
  • For additional insulation and filling voids of small cracks on the surface of the slopes, foaming is carried out with mounting foam.
  • The protective film is removed from the sandwich panel for finishing window slopes and vertical panels are installed.
  • The joint between the panels and the window sill is closed with a starting profile and foaming is again flush with the outer edge of the wall.
  • Then it is cut to size and the finishing bar is attached to the left side of the window opening.
  • All operations in the same sequence are performed on the right side of the window and the side slopes are ready.
  • The length and width of the upper slope are again measured, and the turning angles of the side slopes are measured, which should be the same.
  • The installation of the top panel is in progress, the joint is closed with a starting profile.
  • The top panel is attached to the side panels on both sides.
  • The finishing profile for the upper slope is cut out.
  • At the joints, the finishing profile is cut at an angle of 45ᵒ and the second foaming of the upper slope is performed and the finishing bar is installed.
  • The joints are filled with white mounting adhesive, the excess is carefully removed.
  • White gypsum plaster is kneaded, and the space under the window sill is plastered.

Attention: Properly performed installation work allows you to get slopes that are not afraid of severe frosts, and condensate does not collect on them.

The slopes are ready, given that the work was carried out for ourselves, everything can be done very carefully and slowly. Sandwich panel slopes are installed quickly and cleanly.
It belongs to the most economical type of window finishing within 1.5-3 hours. A beginner can easily cope with this work.

Finishing the slopes is a procedure that is the final touch in the process of installing plastic windows. It not only gives the whole structure an aesthetic appearance, but also with the right choice of material provides protection against mold formation and freezing during the cold winter season.

Those who want the windows in their house to have the above qualities should give preference to finishing with sandwich panels - a material that will help achieve an effective result when installing slopes.

What is a sandwich panel?

This material is a lightweight board, made up of several layers, where the two outer layers are rigid webs that can be made from various materials. Between the canvases there is a heater (polyurethane foam, expanded polystyrene, mineral wool).

Bonding of all elements of sandwich panels perform in two ways– cold or hot pressing. The material itself is of two types - wall and roofing. Most often, sandwich panels are used in the construction of prefabricated buildings.

Standard sizes of sandwich panels in terms of length, width, thickness are:

  • 300x115x3.2 cm;
  • 300x115x2.4 cm;
  • 300x115x1 cm.

The largest sizes have roofing slabs, the parameters of which are 12x1.2x0.3 m. For the construction of internal partitions, slabs with a length of 1.5 m or more and a width of 1 m are most often used.

For installation of slopes used special sandwich panels, 10x1500x3000 mm in size, consisting of the following materials:

  • PVC - the outer side of the panel is made from it;
  • the back side is made of sheet polystyrene;
  • expanded polystyrene foam or mineral wool is used as an inner insulation layer.

Advantages and disadvantages

Positive technical characteristics of the material:

Presence of deficiencies for sandwich panels is mainly related to the quality of the material itself:

  1. Poor quality panels can be deformed due to high temperatures, usually due to direct sunlight take on a yellow tint.
  2. In addition, poor quality also affects the strength of products, which with poor manufacturing leaves much to be desired.

When buying, it will not be superfluous pay attention to the manufacturer and make sure that the seller has product certification.

How to make slopes on the windows with your own hands?

After installing windows must wait at least 24 hours. During this time, the mounting foam will dry completely, after which it can be cut flush with a knife from the surface of the frame.

Before installing slopes, you need prepare the work area, clean from dirt and treat with an antiseptic.
