How to prepare for winter? Very simple! We introduce peat or peat together with compost with a layer of 5 cm into the root zone, so it will winter better. We are not in a hurry to remove the shelter from the sun, because in the spring the sun is already starting to warm up, the needles are actively evaporating moisture, and the roots, the roots in the cold ground have not yet woken up, they do not absorb water. That's what produces a "sunburn" - the drying of the needles.
In March, the crown of the Koniki spruce can be opened, but with the same material it can be shielded from the midday sun in the form of a screen. It is very simple to do: we stick 2 sticks into the ground and pull the canvas over them, fix it. We put the screen on the south side.
