The symbol and the flag. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland uses as its national flag known as the Union Flag or Union Jack. The symbol of England is red rose.

Trafalgar Square It is the central square of London and traditional place for people to meet.

The Houses of Parliament It is a place where the British Government sits. It consists of three parts: the Royal Apartments, the House of Lords and the House of Commons.

Big Ben It’s a clock in the tower and it is a big bell. You can hear it every hour. It weighs 13.5 tons.

Tower Bridge It is the oldest and famous bridge across the Thames. It was made of wood by the Romans, but it was often burnt down. Later it was made of stone.

The Tower of London It has a long history. In the past it was a fortress, a prison, a castle and a zoo. It was built to protect the city from the enemies. There are a lot of ravens at this place. Nowadays this building is a very popular museum.

Buckingham Palace It’s the London home of the Queen. Buckingham Palace was built between 1702 and 1705. The palace is open to public.

The Tower of London

The Tower has been part of the capital’s history for the past 900 years. The fortress first built by William the Conqueror as a citadel, royal palace, seat of the government. The Tower now protects the Crown Jewels.


St Paul’s Cathedral

  • St Paul’s Cathedral is the spiritual centre of the City. It was first built in 1666. The present building is the fifth cathedral to built built on the site. The architect of the baroque-style building was Sir Christopher Wren. St Paul’s Cathedral `is a fitting final place for many of the nation’s heroes.

Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is the popular place for political rallies and meetings. The Admiral Lord Nelson’s statue surveys the memorial to his great naval victory in 1805. The Admiral’s statue looks towards the House of Parliament. To the other side of the column are fountains.

Houses of Parliament

Houses of Parliament stands on the River Thames at Westminster. It begun in 1840 after a Great Fire of London. It is officially known as the Palace of Westminster. The complex includes the House of Commons, the House of Lords, Westminster Hall, and the 320 foot high Clock Tower. It contains the world famous sight Big Ben.

Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey has been closely connected with the Crown over 900 years. The Abbey was rebuilt in the 11 th century by a king Edward the Confessor. The Abbey contains monuments to monarchs. It is the meeting place for Parliament from the 14 th to the 16 th centuries.

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is the best known royal palace in the world. It was build in 1703. When Her Majesty the Queen is in the residence, the Royal Standard flutters over the east front. The palace is open to public in August and September.

Piccadilly is the centre of entertainment. It is the meeting point of six streets. Here you can find the most expensive shops, restaurants and entertainment places. This centre was created in 1980s.

It was built by Sir Christopher Wren between 1675-1710 to replace the old Cathedral that was largely destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666. Christopher Wren is buried there.


Tower Bridge

It was opened in 1894. It is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, England which crosses the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, from which it takes its name.


The British museum

The British Museum is a museum dedicated to human history and culture, located in the Bloomsbury area of London. The British Museum was established in 1753 largely based on the collections of the physician and scientist Sir Hans Sloan. The museum first opened to the public on 15 January 1759 in Montagu House in Bloomsbury.


Westminster abbey

It is a large and famous Anglican church in London. It’s the shrine of Edward the Confessor and the burial place of many kings and queens. Since it was built it has been the place where the coronations of Kings and Queens of England have been held.


The Houses of Parliament

The Houses of Parliament, also known as the Palace of Westminster, is the seat of the two parliamentary houses of the United Kingdom: The House of Lords and the House of Commons. The most famous feature of the Houses of Parliament is its clock tower, known as Big Ben.


Big Ben is the second bell in the clock tower at the northern end of the Houses of Parliament in Westminster. The first was damaged in 1856. Big Ben is the biggest four-faced, chiming clock in the world. It weighs 13 tons. It was built by Sir Adam Jonas from Norfolk, England in 1858, by his team of architects.


Trafalgar Square

It is a public space and tourist attraction in London, built around the area formerly known as Charing Cross. At its centre is Nelson’s Column, which is guarded by four lion statues at its base. The name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, a British naval victory of the Napoleonic Wars over France and Spain which took place on 21 October 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar in Los canos de meca, a town in Spain.



Hyde Park

Hyde Park was created in 1536 by Henry VIII for hunting. It is one of the largest parks in London, and one of the Royal Parks of London, famous for its Speakers’ Corner. Hyde Park’s Speakers Corner has acquired an international reputation for demonstrations and other protests due to its tolerance of free speech.


London Bridge

London Bridge refers to several historical bridges that have spanned the River Thames between the City of London and Southwark, in central London. The current crossing, which opened to traffic in 1973, is a box girder bridge. This replaced a 19 th -century stone-arched bridge, which in turn superseded a 600-year-old medieval structure.




Madam Tussauds

It is a wax museum in London with branches in a number of major cities. It was founded by wax sculptor Marie Tussaund. Madam Tussaunds is a major tourist attraction in London, displaying waxworks of historical and royal figures, film stars and sports stars.


The National Gallery

It is an art museum in Trafalgar Square in Central London. Founded in 1824, it houses a collection of over 2,300 paitings dating from the mid-13 th century to 1900.
